AK kernel [Off-Topic] - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Good Morning Guys.
I am here to warn you all. This is an off topic thread. As such we will keep it off topic. But we need to remind you that discussions political, racial, and religious can be taken very personally and can lead to members attacking members. We need to keep this civil and keep the discussions out of those topics.
Forum Rules:
Rule 2.4: Personal attacks, racial, political and/or religious discussions: XDA is a discussion forum about certain mobile phones. Mobile phones are not racial, political, religious or personally offensive, therefore none of these types of discussions are permitted on XDA.
Peace and have a good day!

Good start for everybody on ak kernel thread who wants to come here and relax

EDIT: If you really want a specific OT thread related to AK, start one in the OT section.

Offtopic proposal for T989 Subforum

Dear T989 community.
While the T989 forums are sometimes cluttered with random useless posts and comments, I was wondering if you could possible entertain the idea of having a specific thread for off-topic posts.
I understand that XDA does have a General - Offtopic subforum but it may be nice if we could have a specific thread for our T989 forum that would allow offtopic discussion without it being so regulated. (Still within the XDA rules)
It may allow for some of the tensions that have grown here lately to calm down by allowing us to just talk as a community about random things. It would also allow the community to grow here in our little sub-forum.
(Just to clarify, I do not mean a whole new section in the T989 sub-forum on XDA. Just a single topic in the general discussion T989 board.)

There should be a forum for the haters and the haters of the haters.

To xda team, can i request for an additional mod here? I feel that pg101 aint fair in deleting posts. Atleast if there were two mods, they will discuss it first before deleting. Thanks!

Hey rr2sd, don't forget I saw some of the posts that PG deleted and they were, how shall I put it "worthy of deletion". Not only that, I deleted a few more.
Even if we do add more mods as we do in forums from time to time, they simply don't have time to start disussing every deletion before acting.
Anyway, what's to discuss if there is trolling, flaming, or off-topic stuff being posted. Sometimes we might debate whether something is in the correct forum, but otherwise if a poster is neither contributing nor being helpful then they risk having posts deleted.
I fully expect that where a Mod is doing a good job, there will be a balance of folk saying he's too lenient and those saying he is too tough.

How about this..before deleting any OP post, mod should warn members through PM
or thread 1st..If there is no action taken by the OP then mod can do his job.Fair enough
i think.
wow. got an infraction because of this. it was just disguised as a violation of the rule against personal attacks. lol.
EDIT: 2.4 Personal attacks, racial, political and/or religious discussions: XDA is a discussion forum about certain mobile phones. Mobile phones are not racial, political, religious or personally offensive, therefore none of these types of discussions are permitted on XDA. personal attack is stated but is not clearly not defined in your rules. as you have said (rule 2.1) what is ‘ok’ to say in your part of the world may not be ok in someone else’s part of the world. your rule goes back to you, what a mod may think is a personal attack may not necessarily mean it is a personal attack to the one writing it. for example, when i complain that i am personally attacked by someone, what are your criteria by which you decide that i am really personally attacked? is it a first come first serve/delete basis? ronnieryan complained first so that makes her right?
EDIT: 2.5 Courtesy towards other Members: Treat new members the way you would like to have been treated when you were a new member. When dealing with any member, provide them with guidance, advice and instruction when you can and always with respect and courtesy. Never post in a demanding, argumentative, disrespectful or self-righteous manner. I bet ronnieryan violates this rule in each and every post he makes, what have the mod done about this?
EDIT: i have read the rules over and over but i cant find something. just a question, wheres the rule against trolling mike?

well, the point of contention is, rather, that many feel that some deleted posts did not violate any rule.
as in the case of PG101 deleting a post on USB jig with technical info.
we should make sure to not get off THAT topic, specifically.
also PG101 appearantly deleted a very important post containing a SGY kernel bugfix wasting time of some devs.
kernel testing was severely delayed by PG101 killing that bugfix.
I rated this thread "5 stars" !

What ever your grudges against anyone mate (including mods), just a suggestion, try to resolve it via PM. .
In online forums, it best to ignore some people. What I have learnt by experience is I just state my point of view and leave it there. I don't go overboard to prove my point. Hence I never enter into an argument with anyone.
Happy XDA'ing. Cheers and apology if any of my comments hurt.

Pm's arent transparent man. In this way they wont just ignore the issue. Pm's are one sided. I wouldnt want for anybody's post to just disappear when someone complains about it w/o having the oportunity to dispute said complaint.

simple off topic is already trolling. It doesnt have to be included in the rules. Its a universal rule that applies in all forums

I am gravely concerned that admin PG101 might possibly not know what he is doing when it comes to removal action in our SGY dev section. He seemingly caused a huge loss of time accident.

What are the xda titles and how do you earn them?

Hoping someone could answer me a question ive had since i joined xda. Ive seen recognized dev, recognized contributer, elite recognized dev, forum mod. What other tittles are given? And how do you earn them?

I would assume you get the title of "Forum mod" when you become one. As well as a recognized dev when you publish something that requires development

I think you earn ranks by filling your thanks meter.
I'll sum it up for you (or try, anyway!)
There are Junior Members, Members, Senior Members first. These make up the vast majority of XDAs userbase.
Recognised Contributors are nominated by other users and/or Mods/Developers. They are recognised for their contributions which are not specifically Development, such as detailed guides, one-click utilities and other tools/mods.
Recognised Themers are also nominated by users/Mods/Developers, for their work themeing custom ROMs and providing standalone themes for flashing.
Recognised Developers are nominated and approved by the Developer Committee, for their work in Development whether it be ROMs, Root methods, bootloader unlocks etc.
Elite Recognised Developers are again assessed by the Developer Committee, and are deemed to have gone above-and-beyond in providing knowledge/hacks/tools/apps/ROMs for the XDA community.
Forum Moderators are appointed by the Moderator Committee, after submitting an application (see the 'sticky' at the top of this forum - currently applications are not open). They are the first-line of keeping the forums tidy, friendly and orderly.
Senior Moderators are the next step up the ladder, providing site-wide support for Forum Mods and looking after the nitty-gritty issues, as well as areas of XDA not policed by FSMs, such as the Marketplace.
Administrators are next. There are several Admins - each look after a specific part of XDA such as the Portal, the Members and the User Experience of XDA as a whole.
At the top is Mike Channon, who is overall Forum Administrator.
Other titles you may come across:
Moderator Committee - sits on the Mod Committee
Developer Committee - as above, but for Developer Committee
XDA Newswriter - publishes articles for the Portal (front page)
Retired xxxx - have since officially 'left' their XDA position
Hopefully that clears most of them up for you
Contrary to what a lot of people expect, the thanks-meter does not figure at all in determining a users tag.
