You're asking in the E4GT forum. What do you think people are going to say? Just like if you asked this same question on an iPhone forum they would say it's better. Best thing to do is go play with both and figure out which one YOU like better

I say ET4G is better just because the screen is larger and has 4G WiMax...
Only real strong point I see on the iPhone is there App quality.
If anything just get the Epic Touch and pick up a iPod Touch 4th generation.
If you use bad grammar, drive a Prius, and are well off due to your parents you should get an iPhone. They are quite pretty and they give you two color choices, and that "****" is dope...If you are creative, love customization, and want a phone built for form and function you should get an Epic Touch 4g.

Depends on what ur looking for, play with both in store.
Iphone is more portable, ios 5 is a bit better than ios 4.
Iphone is better built (dont dog me) metal/glass (dont drop it)
I prefer free tether when rooted, android (especially with ics around the corner), big screen, etc.

I would get the iphone since the screen is huge and its really fast cause it has 3g and talks to you in Latin with an Irish accent plus it vibrates nicely in bed... I can't stand this tiny screen on the epic touch. And the colors are so washed out. Plus its really heavy like a laptop and the battery only lasts 30 minutes while looking at pr0n... This is all educated thinking though not logically confined to real life hypothesis.

Would like to see some photo's taken with the 4S camera but can't seem to find any. All the reviews are like the camera is great but have no photo's to back it up......WTF
Anyone know where we can see some pics snapped with the 4S?
Edit....Some picture comparisons of the iPhone to the 4S below. Would like to see some compared to our Epic 4G touch though. Also curious if the 4S has any lag when snapping the picture.

This is for ATT Galaxy S II, but it is close enough to Epic 4G Touch that Sprint users can relate. It is actually a decent straight up side-by-side, actual usage of features, comparison with no fanboyism. Covers App startup, VoiceCommand/Siri, Games, Browsers, Notification Bar, etc.
Part 1
Part 2
Get the iPhone. I finally upgraded to 4s after using Evo and Photon for the past 2yrs and there really is no comparison. iPhone is buttery smooth, super responsive with better apps and IMO unparalleled user experience. I didn't realize how much I missed my iPhone after leaving AT&T, and it's safe to say that I won't be buying anything but the iPhone for the foreseeable future.

I think the reviewer was being nice in using the AT&T version of the SGS2 with it's smaller screen screen. If he used Sprint's or T-Mo's version it would have just made things worse for the 4s then it already was.....

Please tell me what is not buttery smooth and and super responsive on the Epic 4G Touch because I have not found it yet......Also you mention the EVO and Photon but this is in the Epic 4G touch section so your comparison here is pointless.
My SGS2 is much smoother then the 2 devices you listed as well, so what's your point?
Wife just got the 4S on Friday. I have the Epic Touch. She's never had a smartphone, and I came from a TP2. We were out with friends showing them our new phones, and she spent more time talking about MY phone than hers. We went to NYC Saturday, and used both phones all day. After ONE actual day of use, her white 4s is in the box awaiting a trip to the Sprint store for an exchange to an Epic Touch, with a white silicone sleeve.
I really don't understand the hype that surrounds the iPhone. Admittedly, yesterday was the only time I used one, but it was all I needed. Everything is so much easier on the Epic.

I've used the epic touch at the Sprint store and while it's arguably the best android phone it's no iPhone. After hearing of all the signal loss issues with no patch in sight I would definitely steer clear especially considering Samsung's spotty update history. Bottom line, there is a good reason why the iPhone easily outsells any individual android phone, and it's not because everyone is an izombie.

Time to make the jump from S2. What would you do?
Nexus 4 easily.. if came downto the note and the galaxy s3 then I'd choose the note personally. Nicer screen, longer battery life, the 4420 soc here in the states, etc. But against the nexus 4 it's beat in hardware and software in every aspect. Easily. Not to mention price

I feel like upgrading from the S2 to any of those newer devices is about the equivalent of upgrading from the iPhone 4S to the iPhone 5. You aren't going to feel a giant difference. You're rarely, if ever, going to take advantage of the performance those newer devices are capable of (for now and any time in the near future).
I feel like its kind of a waste to upgrade to anything outside of your 2 year contract unless you're A) loaded and don't give a ****, B) there is something seriously wrong with your phone, or C) whatever you're doing is so ridiculously processor intensive you need something more powerful.
It isn't like we're on outdated software. We're going to get official jellybean soon, and have ample developer support behind AOSP builds of 4.1.2 (and soon 4.2) which run almost flawlessly. It isn't like our dual core exynos ever bogs down in anything availible on the market, or for daily use, and if it did- you can always overclock. Our touchscreens are great, the super AMOLED/gorilla glass display is phenomenal, battery life (if used correctly) is acceptable, the device is plenty big unless you have gorilla hands, the cameras are fine, etc. Unless you're already at your 2 year (which you shouldn't be, because the phone came out late 2011), I don't see any big calling to upgrade. This upgrade fever is ridiculous and pointless.
I might eventually get a note 2 but not for a while. This phone is perfectly fine for me. My upgrade kicks in December so I'm gonna get my gf an s3 for an early present since her evo3d is having issues

Everything you said is True.... My phone still rocks
Galaxy S3. The Note is just too big for me. No external sd or replaceable battery is a deal breaker for me on the nexus 4. Plus I like touchwiz. So that leaves the S3, which I absolutely love. Since my upgrade isn't up until next year and because I am very happy with my S2, I won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

I totally agree with this but some people like new stuff or have money for it so my vote is for the S3. Of those options I feel the note2 is the biggest upgrade only due to the screen size. I personally think that screen size of the note is too big though. My must haves include a sd slot and removable battery is also very nice the Gnex is out and that leaves the S3. I might also consider the HTC.

No. N4 will only be released in a tmobile and an unlocked version. Google doesn't want to mess around with LTE closed source drivers. Causes too many issues and delays. According to what I've read.

In short, Google is telling Verizon to eff off.
I said my next phone will be a nexus. LG made a pretty sharp looking phone and it packs some pretty nice specs. I'm more concerned about stock Android so rooting will not be needed with the LG Nexus 4 (for me anyway).
My upgrade been available since June and I just want a new phone lol my lil sister will take my e4gt as for me I'm jumping to a manly phone the note 2. No removable battery, SD card slot and no lte is a deal breaker for me plus with jellybean smoothness I can be patient for android updates.

My wife was upgrade eligible and picked up a Note 2 this past Saturday. I'm pretty impressed with it. I've tried it out in my pocket several times and despite the increase in size it still seems surprisingly pocketable to me.
still a huge fan of that phone but i droppd it again and cracked the screen so i figured id upgrade to this monster. ive rooted every phone ive ever had. is this phone different . do you guys for the most part think this phone does fine on its own?. any opnions would be most appreciated. thanks
I rooted only for ad-free and Ti backup and better battery stats. Stock ROM is quite snappy and I don't mind TouchWiz.

The Note 2 is a beast. Yea they're very similar but using both, I can definitely feel the quad core performance advantage on the Note 2. Side by side I could also tell a distinct difference in the brightness and saturation of the screen. And probably the biggest difference is the battery. You can literally go days on one charge with heavy use. The GS3, not so much. If you're into phablets, def go with the Note 2.
I had Note 2 to play around with for a couple of weeks and I've owned SGS3 since July. I thought the Note 2 was solid but it was just too darn big for my liking. That was pretty much the only issue I had with the Note 2. I love how big the Note 2 screen is and all but I hated walking around with it in my pants pocket.

These two posts hit my experience with the Note 2 right on the head.
Like X_Fact0r, I've had the S3 since July. I decided to give the Note 2 a try and while it's a GREAT phone, I just couldn't get past the size. If someone has already had the S3, it feels like the Note 2 is just a S3 on steroids. For me, it wasn't worth the nearly $700 off-contract price to feel like I was just getting a bigger screen and I returned it. I also didn't think I'd use the S-Pen very much, although if I'd kept it for good, I may have found that it was really useful.
Add to that how good the development is for the S3, and I just decided to stick with it. But I'm not bashing the Note 2 at all. It worked flawlessly and if you don't mind having a small tablet in your pocket, it's a great choice. But I LOVE my S3, so I stuck with it.
Very interesting to see how the S3 people feel about this as opposed to the Note II users.
Mainly it looks like it's just a size issue here. And for the Note II guys, they thought the same until they put it to good use; multi-tasking and such.
I'd like to hear from more people.. For the sake of knowing.
& thanks OP for posting over here as well.
I played with one at best buy and it honestly I say gs3. Not to get all Apple but it was difficult to use one handed which is nice about the gs3 is that it is perfect size just pushing the boundaries of comfort. Also the price tag IMO is inexcusable. The note II might be a better phone but with the gs3 I feel you are getting your monies worth for what we pay. The note II did seem more durable than the sgs3 issue solved with a d30 case though

To me the Note 2 is a better phone. Size, pen, battery life and quad core are awesome!
For the money an S3 for 99 is a great deal. For instance if a Note 2 user would offer me their Note 2 if I gave them my S3 and $200 I would keep the S3.
Pretty much that is why I still have the S3 today

That's exactly what it was for me. I'd gotten into the "bigger is better" mentality, but I found it was just too big for my tastes.
The odd thing, and this was just my experience, was that I expected with the quad core hype it would be the smoothest phone I could find. I actually ended up having some unexpected lag. This was just with the stock launcher, but it was still there. It must have just been an aberration, though.
My S3 is smooth as silk.
I'll take the s3 over n2 any day.
I have the GS III, my wife has the Note II. For me the size of the GS III is perfect, just on that edge of being too big. The note 2 however is just too big for my tastes, but then again my wife drops hers in her purse, so carrying it is not an issue. If I want a bigger screen I bust out my transformer tablet, or even worse my toshiba laptop.
But I do like both devices for what they are and what they are capable of doing. Now if your a BIT of an artist always looking for a canvas, then the note 2 is more for you. Just not for me. I love my GS III, that is until the next shiny thing that comes along...oh look a penny....
I have both, S3 from July and Note 2 from Nov. I like note 2 better.
I played with the note recently and I honestly don't think I could get over the size of that thing. I put it to my ear and it was like I literally had a book to my ear.

I've had my S3 since July, and now I wish I had waited for the Note 2 before signing up for a contract. I wonder if I can sell my S3 for $300 and pay the difference for a Note 2 at retail price. I don't mind the size. If anything is worth doing or achieving for you, then there's no reason to be embarrassed.

my GF has the GS3 and I have the note 2... I literally have spotify streaming music for 10 hrs per day on average... surf ebay and craigslist apps constantly at the same time... play videos and use the multiview ability all the time... sounds silly but its useful with whatsapp! I never turn anything off! I have wifi, BT, NFC, all motion, all samsung, no power saving, basically zero concern for battery draw and after 18 hours of constant use... I end my days with around 20% battery remaining! The GS3 is nothing close. Plus the raw power and freakish speed of the GN2 is unreal! I can scroll any list no matter the length at maximum speed and never induce even one shutter... wicked fast! So yeah... I'm sticking with the Note2.
I have a s3, 2 note 2s. s3 is a better bang for your buck but note 2 destroy s3 in
Everything IMO..

When I bought the IPhone I thought that it will have no customizations and I can't use Google apps like I did on my Galaxy nexus.
So after using my IPhone for a week. I found that (after jailbreaking) it has lots of customizations more than Galaxy nexus or any other android device. I can make any thing with my device ex. I can swipe between recent apps like Windows 8, I can download a file explorer like android.
Secondly, about Google apps. I found that Google Chrome and Google Now for IOS is about 2x faster than on my old Galaxy Nexus. And Gmail looks more beautiful. The only thing I miss from android that I can't sync my account with Google anymore.
At the end, May be because IPhone 5 is 2 years newer than Galaxy Nexus so I found that Galaxy nexus is slow and apps are not good looking. But anyway I am glad to take this step and trying IPhone :victory:
Thanks.
*sadly shakes head in disapointment
Androids, iPhones, and Windows phones all have their strengths and weaknesses, and it's up to each individual user to select the one that fits their needs and wants. I'm glad that you found one that fits yours.
I personally love the Rom selection (Mmuzzy, Paranoid, Carbon, AOKP) on the Galaxy Nexus, and I like the larger size phone as well. My wife has an Ipad and I will say some apps such as NBA Game Time and HBO GO work much better on iOS devices.
If you like iOS or the iPhone more and you can justify paying double as much as for a Nexus, go for it. I wouldn't do it, but it's up to you to choose.
Iphone is pretty nice if you jailbreak it, yes. Too bad you can't easily update the OS after.

the only thing that make me left iphone and come to world of android (a decision i am glad to make cus of my gnex) is the screen size...........

Thanks.

You can sync your iPhone and google account together. All my contacts, calendar events and stuff came back. It's in the settings. Secondly what you're saying is legit. I switched over to for app quality. There's absolutely nothing I did on my s3 that my iPhone 5 can't do, and do better at that. I still love android and I have a channel with great android videos. If you've never owned an "iPhone 5" not iPhone 4S, or 4. I'm talking about an iPhone 5! Then you shouldn't be judging speeds based on specs. Because in real time testing side by side or apart the iPhone out performs most if not any flagship device out today. Switch over to an iPhone for a week I bet you couldn't go back to android. Not the 4s but the 5! Give it a week and you'll see the difference in speed that a lot of iPhone 5 users are talking about. It was a joke. You shouldn't take the internet so seriously.

I don't like how they put the apps on the home screen but i guess that is solvable by putting them in folders to make them neater, I actually find nothing wrong with my friend's ip4s, just that i prefer android more..

Anyway..
This brand war got to end, iOS and Android caters to different types of people...
Not like they shove a iphone down your throat, you still have a choice..

It's just like unlocking a nexus device's bootloader, as long as you know how to cover your tracks, why not?
Another one bites the dust
