Wanted to check and see if i can just accept the sprint update to zvb even with root and the phone unlocked with freegee. I haven't done anything else to the phone. This way I have zvb and then i can go with the lifeless rom or one of the others. It's either that or flashing the new radios and then the lifeless rom. I'm just not sure where or how to flash the new radios and thought doing the update through sprint would be easier.

no you cant but since you are unlocked itd be easier to just flash one of the zvb roms. if you want a stock experience they have stock roms with nothing removed that you can flash

Thanks, just needed to know that. I guess I'll figure out how to flash the radio update and then go and flash a zvb rom. I usually don't use stock roms anyway. I've only flashed roms before and never anything else, so that's what I need to learn next.

Long story short, I purchased a One X from Amazon that was supposed to be an unlocked international version. Turns out it's a T-Mobile Germany version.
Everything works fine, but it has bloat on it and it's on a slightly older software version (1.28.111.10) and I'd like to make it a generic version that I can install updates on when they come out.
Can someone point me in the right direction? Where can I get a stock Generic rom for the Tegra 3 version?
I'm assuming my first steps are:
Unlock at HTC Dev
Install Clockwork Mod Recovery
I'm kind of a noob at this, or at least a novice, so any help would be appreciated. I was going to send the phone back, but it seems a shame if I can basically get it to be the way I want anyway.
For what i understand you want to be able to recieve OTAs, right?
You need stock recovery to update the phone, and i dont know if changing your CID will make the device recieve the different updates.
Why not try some stock roms?

that wont be able to receive OTAs but hey its updated.
I never used any of those 2 but mike is doing a good work with ARHD which might be an option.

Okay, so to flash one of those stock ROMs, I have to flash Clockwork first, flash the rom, then flash stock recovery again to be able to get updates, correct? I suppose I could just leave it Clockwork and then flash the updates manually.
Once you flash a custom ROM, even based off of stock, you do not want to receive OTA's as that could mess up with the Dev did and cause you issues. The Devs will keep their ROMs up to date so you just flash their updates manually with Clockworkmod.

You see, i never tried that. I dont know if those stock roms are able to recieve the update, but you could flash them using CWR.
And the devs will most likely update the stock roms. its not really be a big issue. You can always use something like titanium backup to save everything you want, even tho flashing an updated version of stock rom shouldnt mess anything up.

If I were you I would send the phone back and demand the version you ordered.
You wont be able to flash a WWE RUU because we don't have S-Off yet however as everyone has mentioned above you can Unlock via HTCDev, flash Clockwork and then flash away with your desired custom rom.
I got this phone about 3 months ago. I immediately rooted it via the windows program and later installed Imperium Initiative 1.0.2 and CWM. I did not make any back ups being that CWM did not support it or so I was told. I've deleted many stock apps and I'm now looking to install either the new stock JB update or Imperium Agent or something similar.
I have not updated any of my radios, and I am still on zv9 4.0.4.
Do I need to return to stock in order to install any JB updates? Ive been looking around the forum for a few hours now and cant really get any clear answer as far as what to do.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
You can LGNPST to ZVB or update your radios and flash another ROM (like Imperium Initiatve v2 maybe )

You mean LNGPST to ZVB stock? If I do that can I just flash whatever I want like Imperium JB?
And also do you mean I just update my radios and flash Imperium JB right now? Or do I definitely need to LNGPST back to stock before I update radios and install Imperium JB?
Sorry just being thorough dont wanna soft brick.
Thank you for such a quick response, and greatly contributing to the developing scene of the Optimus G.

LNGPST (sorry, long day).
Imperium Initiative just needs you to have your radios up to date. I'd also suggest installing TWRP so you can have working backups.
Imperium Agent requires you be on Stock Rooted JB as it's a live ROM conversion.

If you are going to run Agent then don't worry about it. Agent is designed to run on locked phones. It's when you are flashing ROMs that you need a custom recovery.
Hello all,
I'm using 4.0.4 on I747M with telus. Had to delete the 2 files to disable the OTA update notifications since at the time there was no root for 4.1.2
Now the question is, i've done 1 click with unified toolkit by mskip to root, flash etc.
Can i simply flash any 4.1.2 custom rom or manufacture rom or should i restore to factory default, do the update and then root and do custom rom?
Or naturally is there a simply way to get OTA updates enabled?
Thanks for you help!
to clarify, you are rooted and running the 4.0.4 stock firmware?
if you want to receive OTA updates from your carrier, you need to be on the stock/unrooted firmware.
if you want to run a custom rom, and you're already rooted, install a custom recovery like clockworkmod or twrp. this will allow you to flash a rom. be sure to only flash roms that are intended for your model.
Yeah i already have CW. just wanted to make sure if going different build will cause issues.
Thanks!

if you have an i747 or i747M, stick with those ROMs as anything else will cause serious problems with your device.

if you're on an i747/i747M than that should be just fine. remember to make a backup first and perform a full wipe before flashing. if you're unfamiliar with some of these techniques, follow the link in my signature. it outlines what procedures to follow to safely get you running smooth.
I am trying to find the easiest way possible for someone to flash the updated md4 stock rom. This person is already rooted. They want to upgrade so they will have multiwindow. They are in another city so I cant do it myself. I remember Treve has a rom that backs up your rom before it flashes the unrooted stock. I was wondering is there something similar to that but will flash the rooted latest stock?
Here is the thread with the md4 modem/baseband. I've never seen a ROM that makes a back up for you. You can make nandroid while in recovery. That will be the back up you need in the event of a problem.

Using ODIN is the best way to go. This link explains everything. All that person needs to know is how to open the ODIN, select file under PDA option and click Start.

Hi,
My LS970 works fine with the stock ROM (4.0.4) but as soon as I install a custom ROM with Kitkat neither 3G, 4G or Wifi work. I have tried CM11, JellyBam and SlimBeans but all show the same behavior. Does anybody have this working or an idea what could be wrong?
Cheers!

If your on Stock 4.0.4 that should be ZV9 and that radio won't work for JB and any CM Rom's. You need to upgrade your radio.
There are a few options:
Let your phone upgrade to ZVC. It should be trying to do that already.
Or, if you are rooted and unlocked already and have TWRP, then you can flash the radio/modem. I would also recommend using a Stock based Rom to start.
The flashable radio/modems are here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40169203
The Stock Rom I would use is here. http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23212708291680187
So in recovery, flash the radio, then the ROM. It might not hurt to flash the radio a second time before you reboot.

I couldn't go back to stock and use the OTA because I have been told that using the OTA stock update will brick the phone if the bootloader is unlocked. So I have downloaded the file LS970ZVC-M9615A-CEFWMAZM-3.0.10646 from your link and flashed it.
WIFI works now. Thanks! But I still don't have 3G or LTE. Any ideas what else could be missing?
Thanks again! I was already ready to throw out the phone and get a Nexus 5.

Try flashing a stock rom, the one linked above. Then go to Settings>System Updates and update profile and prl. You can also go to Settings>Activate this device after those 2. This is the only way we can update those. CM/AOSP can't do that. That should get you going.

Sometimes I have to dirty flash "flash rom zip again over top of original flash" without wiping dalvik or anything to get signals to pick up and I'm current on Zvc , prl , ect. Never hurts anything and always seems to work if the traditional way doesn't, if you see this problem again might try.
