What is the nicest rom for Desire - Desire General

Post your concepts
And post the URL for that rom

My sig + egl patch for gpu rendering and Crossbreeder, M2SD with only apps on SD for extra speed.
Over 100 apps installed and over 140Mb free space still, also having about 200Mb free RAM on startup, and since both data and dalvik are on internal it's blazing fast.

Mildwild
Hi, Been through a few ROMs since rooting my Desire and the one I like the best, which is also the most stable for me so far is the latest version of MildWild, - I am not a gamer or loads of apps person, just use my Desire a business phone.
Installation was painless, now running a 16GB memory card.
Herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2204681&highlight=mildwildhttp://

VJ CM10.1
Was using different roms before (nikez - evervolv, paranoidandroid, Cm, and VJ CM10) but for some time I use vijendrahs CM10.1 VJ Jelly Bean 4.2.2 v5.X : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2070704 :good:
I like how fast it is and mine 2year old battery holds for 2 days!!! Other users have some soft-reboots or notification sound problems, but since I updated to v5.4 they are gone, and before I noticed it only few times. So I think it is the best rom ever.
But what do I know, I'm just a noob!

Euro skank its stable everything works and if u use pimp my rom app and crossbreeder you will see the desire fly lol
Just my 2 cents

I've tried quite a few now. For looks and customization MIUI XJ but for speed it has to be any of Mildwilds roms.
Currently using his Sense A2SD+ on stock hboot.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2204681
It's a lovely fast rom.

VJs AOKP lots of features and very good Battery life

Most popular Rom¿

Hey everyone I am just wondering what rom the majority of xda desire users use. Let me know thanks!!

This should be a poll
RCMixS Sense 2.1/3.0 Evolutionary.
Agreed, set up a poll.
ROM's should all come with usage recorders to anonymously report stats about devices and ROM's - something like distrowatch for Android phones would be cool.

Cynagogenmod reaches the most users overall. I am not sure how it's on xda.
SwiftKeyed from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App
I like:
Sense: InsertCoin (2.1+3.0) stable - using it now (latest 1.1.0)
AOSP: Oxygen-flashed this once in a while if I am bored with Sense (latest 2.2.1)
I am using MIUI after using Leedroid and oxygen, and before that star....something or other.
I have found MIUi to be easily the least buggy for me. I am now using D2EXT on it and it seems very very fast
Insertcoin 1.1 right now. Used leedroid and cyanogen before.
I think most people use Cyanogen, but i don't know for sure.
I'm back on stock for a while since i need a bigger SD card, my 4GB card is full.
It's a matter of taste I suppose. Some people want fancy/flashy ROMs while others want a slim bug-free stable ROM.
My personal experience with CM7 and, to a lesser extent, Redux, have been rather buggy requiring me to reboot the phone almost every day to fix a glitch here and there. Perhaps all the hacks and fancy features they add to these two ROMs is to blame for this.
But with Oxygen, I've not had to do that at all yet.
Im running Redux 1.2 themed with standard kernel atm. Great ROM for what i require with great battery life.
Looking forward to the new 2.0 redux when it is released.

Which rom? No sense

Hi, please don't shout at me, I've tried a search but Tapatalk is utter useless!
I'm looking for a new rom, this time one without sense. Which kind is the fastest/most stable?
I'm not asking for a rom itself, but more of the type of rom, cm/aokp/aosp etc (are those abbreviations right?)
Thanks
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2
I hate sense.
Been using BlackIce for months and find it quite good.
ICS roms not good for me, for now.
Try BlackIce. It's one of the best.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1298283
Or Cyanogenmod 7.2
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=ace
Both are AOSP (Android Open Source Project) roms. No sense, no flashy visual effects, just speed. Perfect.
I agree with joooe. BlackIce is the best and most stable. I would never use sense.
Absolution in the inspire thread is wicked good too.
Sent from a dream.
To be honest I like sense because it's 'pretty', but started to notice bits and pieces lag.
The two rooms mentioned above, are they on ics? Camera issues?
Sorry for the questions, I'll be back on pc later
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2
BlackIce and Absolution are not ICS, which means camera works fine and they are both very stable.
With BlackICe I have 400 mb free mem at booting. Sense takes like 300 mb! No wonder it lags.

you can try IceColdSandwich - 8.4 - AOKP which is quite stable for daily use for ICS rom...
if you want to try on JB, you can try this Jellytime which is still in beta and testing...

Something better than meXdroidMod_Fried_IceCream3?

I have a modded ICS like in topic title - meXdroidMod_Fried_IceCream3. Is there a ROM with o/c (1.5 GHz is enough) and better stability, speed and look? And with less memory usage? I wasn't there by 2 months and I guess things changed
Thanks for advance.

Andromadus Mimicry 1.4 here. No bugs, smooth as my gf's butt (you need to take that for granted ) and the stability is great. I don't want to change to normal cm9 now, cause it's poor compared to Mimicry IMHO.

Cm7.2 is the fastest, it's like running butter. Great battery life and tons of ram. It is lacking in features though.
Code fire x4.2 is the second fastest, and has all the newest features. It's more than ready for daily usage, but it won't be as fast as gingerbread.
Aospx isn't all that fast, and while it sports the newer Holo theme, multitasking etc, it ain't all that great. Sorry to the devs, it was a great rom but now there are better alternatives

I used stock 2.2, 2.3, Revolutionary, Sabsa Prime, JellyTime and Codefire X, i think Android 4.X is always better than 2.3.
I wonder why developers do not include ad hoc networks in their roms??
For me:
Aospx>CfX
However i dont remember how is cm7. And remember im talking about 3d games. Not rom smoothness etc.

most stable ROM?

I need to update my wife's DInc 2 and was wondering if anyone has suggestions on a stable ROM. I don't have time to try a bunch out for her and am not familiar with the phone. she's not techy, so it needs to work, but stock is a little boring/laggy for her.
the main things she needs to work are camera (both), tether, and pretty decent battery life.
thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Also, would you recommend a kernel with MIUI? I see you're the dev on that one. ; )

If you want stable but don't like stock, I would suggest cm7 (mrom) or the old gingerbread miui (though this may be harder to find unless someone still has it, try rom manager). Ics and jellybean can be iffy since we never got an official release and a proper kernel.

I say CM7 (even their latest nightly has a lot of customizations) or Skyraider Zeus (what I am currently running). Although ICS works really well - it has its glitches which could be frustrating for someone who doesn't want to deal with workarounds.
thanks for all the replies! I've got her on miui v4 for now. she likes the miui look and theme options. if she decides she doesn't like it, I'll probably go with cm7.

I do miss the HTC trace keyboard and the newer HTC mail app, though.

Good topic. After getting bored with Cm 7.2 stable, I'm using de-sensed Viper 1.3.1, but I thinking about trying MROM. This is my work phone and Viper doesn't play nice with the device administrator security settings.

+1 for Skyraider Zeus, got an iPhone and I gave my DI2 to my mom threw Skyraider on it because I didn't want to have to talk her through clearing data to make camera's work and I used it for two days while the new phone was in the mail and forgot why I stopped using it. One of the smoother/fast roms and the battery life is amazing. Easily double what I got on Viper's.

Agree with this. Although I've only tried CM7 because I'm all about battery life and stability. MROM does that and more. The UI is clean and everything is zippy. It really gets the most out of this phone. Who needs ICS or Jellybean when you have a kickass rom like this?

I have run this rom with and without the scripts, I don't see much if any difference. You don't have to use those if you don't want to. And you don't need an app to overclock, it has that in settings. But you can use that to undervolt and change I/o's. As phonetool stated, this rom runs really well on this phone. Give it a shot.

I had been using DKStunna's Global 10.1 JB ROM build 3 as my DD for a few months and it was mostly stable. It would lag out once in a while I was managing apps, but it was pretty fast with the built-in Nova Launcher. I got tired of not having a working camcorder and since DKStunna broke his Vivow and ceased development I decided to switch to ChillyBean's ParanoidAndroid/PAC 2.19 ROM. So far it's been awesome! It has "inverted" GAPPS, Facebook, and some other core system apps, which I'm not a fan of, but it's supposedly something you can change. I have a working camcorder again (after a few tweaks), which is what I was looking for. It looks like ChillyBean broke his Vivow also so I don't know how much more development he'll be able to do, which is very sad. Anyway, I highly recommend the latest ParanoidAndroid.

You don't have to change anything for the inverted gapps. Just flash the normal ones instead. Then you never have the inverted ones to begin with.
