Download one of the ****load of 4.1.1 roms in dev thread and extract it from there ?
Why is it not so good? I can send you mine if you want. Quite certain Google didn't change it in 4.2 and if you get the stock file nothing will likely change.

Yeah dont want to use that since it failed to boot my phone. Not sure if its any different now but from what I know it was built from source and isn't an extract from a stock phone
Hmmmm. Good to know. I will investigate further.
Having LTE problems with flashed 4.1 vicious rom. So trying to go back to ICS. I am using the current toolkit 7.8 but when i do option nine it is unable to extract the tar file from the tgz. It dowloads the file it just wont flash it? Any suggestions or easy answers to returning to ICS thanks!
Why not put the latest JB on the phone? Get the images from Google and flash them ADB (the only way to do it), it takes 10min max.

IM going to try it.. at the risk of sounding like a noob.. which i am .. i will ask anyway. How do you flash via adb? Im guessing I cant use the tool kit for this and other than flashing zip files in recovery im unaware of how to put these on.

Using any tool but the official Google ones is like playing with fire, why not do it the right way?

By stock images you mean they don't come with the extras Verizon adds?
The question is: Can a Verizon user flash the CDMA/LTE images from Google and have a functional phone?
I believe the answer is: Yes.
Personally, I had no issues flashing the GSM images downloaded directly from Google in my phone purchased from Play Store. It should be the same for Verizon binaries.

Hello,
I know I'm being lazy but I have the same question. I don't want to have to backup and restore everything after re-flash the stock 4.1.2.
I'm on stock rooted rom but with the franco.kernel.
Does anyone have a backup made by the franco.lernel updater of the stock kernel for the yakju i9250.
I would be grateful

Reflashing 4.1.2 update will go through the same checks as the 4.2 update and fail... and it would be pointless to flash the 4.1.2 images as you might as well just flash 4.2 images instead..

Stock 4.1.2 kernel for maguro is right here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#yakjujzo54k
Just extract it from the zip file inside the .tgz. It's the file 'boot.img'.

You could flash the 4.2 directly using the factory images from Google without loosing your apps/data. Follow the steps from here
Note: You can download either Takju or Yakju factory image and flash as per your requirement.
Hit Thanks, if this helps.

I think you have missed the point. To do this I have to download the images, extract the kernel, flash the kernel, then do the OTA update. If I have gone to the bother of downloading the images, installing drivers and a toolkit/SDK etc it is just quicker just to flash 4.2

You can flash the kernel with fastboot. The entire operation including download & extract takes less than 5 minutes.
If you call that a bother, then indeed I don't get your point.

My point is, if you are going to the bother of flashing, then just flash 4.2. There is no logic in flashing 4.1.2 (boot or otherwise) to get the OTA to 4.2. I was just looking for a packaged CMW kernel for 4.1.2 so I could have done the patch update to 4.2 which would have taken less time, than downloading and extracting the images (seen as I already had the patch update downloaded).
I've spent more time debating the subject, than doing the flashing...

if you have an unlocked bootloader you can flash the stock images via fastboot. don't flash all together. Flash the bootloader then radio finally the image(make sure you remove the userdata.img from the image.zip). this is exactly what I did and I now have 4.3 and didn't lose a single bit of my app data.

And regarding OTAs, just wait for it, nothing major..

You're seriously asking this? I didn't know we had google employees in xda. Why not just download the flash able image from the Google developers website and save time from making a post that's useless. Also someone can't make an OTA. Only google can.

Yeah, I wait and I wait and I wait. =) That's why I asked about this method.
But also with the OTA, there is a chance that is will not work to flash since there might be some stuff I have done to the /system.
That was the case the for me with the 4.2.2 update, and I needed to use the Google Factory Image, and reset my internal memory and all that (I didn'n know about methods to NOT reset the internal memory then).
Strange there are no flashable .zip's that are complete stock with only some kind of root added. Just stock, that should work to update to next version, like 5.0, with OTA then. Or is there?
EDIT: I found this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016452
Can someone please tell me if there was some new bootloader or radio or something like that, that I need to update more then using pure stock - odexed - UNTOUCHED?
/Söder
Hi all,
I have recently gotten a Galaxy Nexus and have been trying to run the update for 4.2.2 and whenever it restarts to update, it goes to the android lying on it's back with it's stomach open and a red triangle with exclamation mark in it. I'm pretty sure it hasn't been rooted (no SU installed, another way to check?) and I have done a bit of searching but haven't really found anything that doesn't require the use of ADB etc to fix this, so I wanted to check if that is the only way to get the update on.
Here's some info about the phone:
SIM Unlocked
Current ROM: 4.1.1
Baseband: I9250UGKL1
Current Build: JRO03C
Product Name: Tuna
Variant: Maguro
HW Version: 9
Bootloader Version: PRIMEKK14
Lock state: Unlocked
Apologies if I have missed some obvious bit of info somewhere and thank you in advance for pointing me in the right direction.
Thanks!

But i prefer to do the backup to pc and flash all images.
