What custom recovery do you have ?
You can download a "new" nandroid backup to restore
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
Put it in the right folder of the sdcard, flash the boot.img and make a full wipe in the recovery and then restore the nandroid backup

Hello all...My One X is in a mess. I tried to restore my nandroid back up but my phone keeps bootlooping. Ive wiped dalvik, fixed permissions, etc... and i even fastboot erase cache in cmd prompt. Still nothing. Im charging it now in recovery, but i have no other ROM in the memory to try and flash. I downloaded an RUU for O2 but, i cant even use that because i didnt update my phone prior to flashing ROMS, so the RUU is wrong and i cannot find the older version. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hold power + volm down for 10-15 seconds until you get to bootloader screen man... if it doesn't work then you're doing it wrong.

I know how to get into the bootloader. I dont have any other ROM on my phone to flash. I have my back up which i tried to restore but i'm stuck in a bootloop. I dont have the boot.img in my phone for the nandroid.
Just a taught....
I don't know if you changed or upgraded the rom after you did the nandroid backup but if you have a bootloop it means boot.img doesn't match the rom.zip
You also need to flash boot.img with the ADB tools that matches your nandroid backup.
If you are not sure anymore, wisest and easiest thing to do is flash a new custom rom.
I would recommend you >> ARHD rom as they have a Superwipe script as well to clear all fat but leave storage in tact.
Your storage you can reach with Clockworkmod/mounts and storage/Mount USB Storage to copy the rom.zip and superwipe.zip to it.
Keep in mind that you will lose all your personal data like contacts and sms etc, all in internal memory.

Hello guys,
I think I'm dying over here.
I just got my HTC One X and since I don't really like Sense I tried to flash it. So here is what I did:
1. Unlock the Bootloader: Everything was fine
2. Flash Clockwork recovery via fastboot: Check.
2. Root the phone via Clockwork Recovery: Still everything worked
3. Flash the Bootimage via fastboot: Still green
4. Flash the actual ROM via Clockwork Recovery:
Here's where the problems started kicking in. The Rom started flashing, erased my internal storage, but then aborted for some reason.
Now I have the following Problem: I can get into HBOOT, I can get into the cwm, but thats it. When I try to get to the internal storage cwm tells me: internalsd was not found.
So I thought maybe I'll just set everything back to start via RUU. Problem is: I can't find a suitable RUU. Fastboot tells me my version is 2.17.111.3, but I can only find RUUs with the id 1.26.111.3. Seems to be an older version? Can I use that one, too? If not, has anyone any idea, what to do? I don't know what to do.
Thanks for your help.
You can mount your sd card within cwm recovery . Go to mounts & storage and then at the the bottom you see mount as USB disk. Copy another ics rom to it. And do the procedure all over. Flash the boot.img from the rom do a factory reset and flash the ics rom.
Try another ICS rom first !

Thanks for the quick answer, I appreciate it.
When I try to mount the whole storage as USB drive windows wants me to format it. Can I do that, or is that a bad idea?
Hmm well it depends if you have personal stuff on it like fotos or something. Of not i don't see the problem. And by this you mean the 25 gig that is available on the sd card ?
And what do you mean with "the whole storage" ? There is only 1 sd card in the phone. And that's the one that will be mounted with the USB disk mount option.
You are using 5.8.4.0 cwm recovery ?
Keep the info coming so help can be provided !

Well, no personal stuff. As mentioned, I literally just bought the phone.
I go into the recovery, then mounts and storage -> mount USB Storage -> plug it into my computer -> windows wants me to format the storage of the device I just pluged in...
Should not be a problem then, maybe it got corrupted somehow....make sure that you format it as fat32. Then copy another ics rom, try viper x ..... Great experience with that one ! Just to make sure the whole shabam works !
Chill!
Well Just wanted to tell u ..Chill u havent BRICKED ur phone.
Take a deep breath and follow what has been told.

To be honest, I chose cyanogen mod 9. I really like the vanilla ICS/JB.
One more question: What would I have to to, to use JB roms?
No problem ! It's great that it worked !
Well for as far as i know you have to update the hboot IF the CID number of your phone supports it. You have to flash a firmware zip in a way. I'm not into this. I'm waiting for the original OTA
here is a link with some more info

Well, I see. Hm, the way I see it the changes between ics and jb are way to insignificant, to risk destroying my phone. So, I'll stick with CM9 for the time beeing. But again: Thanks.
Enjoy the phone and have a nice weekend
SD card can't be found
SOLVED SOLVED SOLVED
Tried flashing a rom but the installation failed, so I tried again only to get the message
E:/Can't mount/sdcard/
Rebooted my phone to find that the oririnal rom was still working but its unable to read my sdcard because its unmounted. Can't use usb storage or mount in recovery or use any recovery tools that require sd card access
If the HOX was a sealed unit I would simply take the sd card and put it back in
Is there solution to this problem?
Reformatting my SD card fixed the problem
If you want jb ROMs you don't need to upgrade hboot, only jb sense ROMs need to. You can flash cm10 without any kind of problem.
Hi all,
As you can see from my post count I usually manage to solve any issues I have with the search funtion but this one has got complicated
I updated the firmware on my handset to upgrade the hboot, I know have 1.36.0000.
Since this though I'm having trouble booting any ROMs. Fastboot and CWM recovery are all fine but flashing boot.img and flashing the ROM from the sdcard I can't get past the HTC screen or sometimes the ROM's boot image. I also remember to erase cache after flashing the boot.img
I have a nandroid backup of a stock ROM that I've used to get the phone working but I'd like to know what's happening! I've tried this thread on getting out of boot loops but not had any luck.
If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it or if you need any other info please ask
I believe the handset has supercid but I used the info cidnum: ORANG001 3.16.61.6 anyway
I'm not very experienced with this so am hopeful I've missed something simple
Thanks in advance

Hey, thanks for the reply.
I've been over and over the process as I thought it might be something like that, but went through the instructions for each ROM step by step and wiped everything from CWM before flashing
I've done some more Googling and it looks like a lot of people have had problems with non-sense ROMs on hboot 1.36. I'm going to download a sense one and give that a try

Need a small tut ?
start in the bootloader and flash the boot.img of the rom
unhook the cable and enter recovery (to avoid error messages)
in the recovery you do :
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
advanced - wipe dalvik cache
mounts & storage - Format cache,data,system
then you mount the sdcard as a mass storage device, hook on the cable and copy the rom.zip.
UNHOOK THE CABLE BEFORE INSTALLING THE ROM !
install the rom.zip and reboot the phone.

CASE CLOSED !
This morning, when I connected My HOX to wall charger the charging LED didn't show up and neither was their any other charging indication. I tried different chargers but with no good result. Even tried to connect it to the PC but the device was not detected.
But when I switched OFF the HOX and connected the charger then it started getting charged and the LED was continuously glowing.
However, it is still unable to charge in Switched ON mode.
I am using SLIM BEAN BUILD6 ROM. I tried re-flashing the rom but the problem persisted.
Then I did a NANDROID restore to STOCK ROM, and I found no such problem in STOCK ROM. The phone is charging in either SWITCH ON or OFF mode.
But when I switched again to Custom ROM, the charging problem prevailed. Any idea how to fix it up because I don't wanna switch back to STOCK ROM.
Does this problem occur with any custom rom, or did you try several different custom roms ?

I am using CWM 6.0.2.7 recovery.
steps while installing the rom:-
--"first I flashed boot.img" then
1. wipe data/factory reset.
2. wipe dalvick cache.
3. wipe cache.
4. install zip form card.
5. install gapps.
6. reboot.
*Now I recently also discovered that this problem is also coming in stock rom (checked it after doing nandroid restore).
What if you install a rom like this
Flash the boot.img from the rom.zip
Factory reset
Wipe the caches
Format cache, system and data
Then install the rom.zip
Check again ..... i want to exclude a software fault so bad here !

Mr. Hofs I appreciate your effort in trying to solve My problem. I tried restoring the nandroid backup which didn't solve the problem and I was wondering that can factory reset to stock using RUU will help in solving this problem? if yes, them I wont mind switching back to stock mode. But I am unable to find the RUU for My device.
Code:
Fastboot getvar version-main
version-main: 3.14.720.24

Fastboot oem readcid
...

I have the same problem .but its unrooted .maybe its a hardware fault .short in display or mainboard or anything like that .

Dude, if Your phone is not rooted and not on a custom boot then it wont allow You to charge even in switched OFF condition because stock HOX device automatically switches to ON state on connecting the charger. You should get it checked at service centre.
I will have a look for your RUU, you have a stock backup right ?
Hmm no ruu available sorry, what about this :
Restore the nandroid backup completely and also flash back the stock recovery after restoring it.
http://db.tt/pO3jumMa
Edit : restore the nandroid backup and also flash the boot.img that is located in the nandroid backup folder. Then flash the stock recovery and also perform a factory reset from the bootloader. If that doesn't help its probably a hardware failure !

Edit : restore the nandroid backup and also flash the boot.img that is located in the nandroid backup folder. Then flash the stock recovery and also perform a factory reset from the bootloader. If that doesn't help its probably a hardware failure !

And it didn't worked.
okay, two more questions,
1. if it is a hardware issue then how is the charger working with phone switched-off (only with custom kernel).?
2. if it is a hardware issue and if I restore nandroid backup, flash stock recovery and relock the bootloader now then will I be able to claim the warranty for this issue.?

1 : maybe something is interfering with the usb connection while the software is running.
2: yes you should be able to claim a hardware defect in that state !
As i think it is a defect at some point, but can't exact say where.

Alright mate, You helped a lot. I'll get it checked at service centre.
Thanks a lot.
Doesn't matter that the problem is not resolved I am going to hit the thanks button as You tried to help Me.
And You may also hit the thanks button as I introduced You to a new situation that do exist in android devices which just doesn't get cured easily..:laugh: just kidding..
I have a similar problem with my HOX;
After rooting and flashing a Custom ROM my device doesn't charge in OFF mode.
When I tried to charge my HOX in OFF mode the battery gets drained. If the battery is empty ( and connected to the USB charge) the phone boots and then it starts charging.
Its is quite annoying and i would like to know if there's a way to fix it.

Yes.. That's quite normal. Some custom roms have this problem... Not a biggie though.
There's no problem with your device afaik.

Its just because Your current Kernel doesnt support the charging with device switched-OFF.
You may also try flashing some other custom ROM.

Ok, good to know, but I'm quite sure I still had the same 'problem' when I went back to Stock....

That's correct, You'll not be able to charge Your HOX in Switched-OFF mode with Stock ROM. The HTC Stock doesnt support this feature. If You'll contact the customer care then they will tell You the same thing.
You may try some NON-SENSE based ROMs, if You like.

Good. erverything seems to be allright with my HOX!:victory:
Will stay on Sense ROM atm , fallen in love with ViperX
Hi All,
Yesterday I took my Tegra 3 (International) One X back to Stock ICS using RUU. Everything went smoothly after I relocked my bootloader and ran the RUU.
Then I proceeded to get all the OTA updates until I had JellyBean (3.14.707.24) with no further updates pending. Yay for Jellybean! The next thing I did was install CWM recovery and perform a nandroid backup (which didn't seem to restore later, although was created correctly).
At this point, I thought I would try using a CM10 rom to remove sense and I went ahead and installed it, flashing over the boot.img as one normally would, but it wouldn't boot. I later discovered that I needed a modded-boot.img (for new hboot 1.36), but not before I tried running the 3.14.707.24 RUU.
This RUU got stuck at sending.... and did not finish. I didn't leave it more than 20 minutes and tried twice. I also tried my ICS RUU to no avail.
Right now I have no Rom installed (from what I can tell), but I have full fastboot access and would like to know how I should proceed:
1) should I install the CM10 rom again with proper modded-boot.img (for hboot 1.36) and see if it boots? That would at least get me functional.
2) should I try another copy of the RUU for 3.14.707.24 JB? (i found one)
3) should I try a rom like Android Revolution HD which is OK to work with my new HBoot 1.36?
I don't want to do too much too fast since I know what I've done, and used to be really into this. The phone has been sitting a while since I upgraded my device and I'd like to get it working for travelling purposes. I'd be happy with a Stock Rom at this point...
Thanks for any willingness to help me
Adam
Ofcourse if you want CM flash the boot.img that is made for CM..And then flash .zip file..And ofcourse after flashing use
"fastboot erase cache"
Sometimes if you dont clear cache your phone won't boot..
Sent from my Endeavor
As you already said the old boot.img wont work with the new hboot. Just install cm10.1 as usually. Or any other JB Rom that is out there for the One X.

Thanks for answering

Thanks for your answer!! Now I'm curious if I want to use some other ROM, but without any system, how do I get the .zip file for the rom onto my SD card for flashing.
Should I use CWM recovery and enable usb storage, or is there another way?
Thanks again,
Adam
Correct, use the recovery
Yes just mount usb storage in CWM.

I'll try this later when I have the time. Thanks to everyone who responded. I was nervous I was on the bad road. Seems I'm in healthy shape, just lacking a rom.
Two more questions:
1) Can I still revert to stock? If so, how since RUU seems to get stuck at sending and not actually restore?
2) Any idea why when I tried to restore my stock nandroid backup just after installing CWM (which backed up successfully) it would restore but not boot (hung on One splash screen)? Should I have to wait a seriously long time for it to boot (I never used to have to?)
Thanks in advance!

Thanks so much. I'll see what happens and get back to the thread.
ALL GOOD!!
Thanks Everyone again. I'm Up and Running!
I think I was more freaked out by the RUU not working than just thinking that my phone is fine. Turned out CWM Recovery was still onboard so I just flashed a new rom using USB mounted storage. :good::good::good::cyclops:

1. You just need to find a RUU that will work..
2. Did you flash boot.img from sdcard/CWM/backup/ backup name folder?

Hey, Thanks for responding!
1. I figured. Thanks for validating. :good:
2. I did not use the boot.img from the nandroid backup. I've never sent a separate boot.img when restoring from Nandroid. Is that something I need to do going forward/have been lucky not having to do until now? Perhaps the ICS builds of roms had a more similar boot.img?
Adam
Yes sir, always flash the corresponding boot.img file
Appreciate the help

Thanks! I'm just confused because I've literally NEVER had to do this and have flashed countless roms when I was on ICS builds.
Great tip :highfive::good::highfive:
