any ideas to help i'll grateful

Its not a bug! Gallery app will save little bits of images so you can see them inside the app. You can delete the thumbnail folder everytime it complains or just swap with vold. that was how i got rid of it.

[Q] 7Mb - very low internal memory!

Hi Guys;
I bought a wildfire s (gingerbread 2.3.3 - htc sense 2.1 - software number 1.35.720.3).
I am running very low of internal memory (just 7Mb out of the original 150) also if all apps I've downloaded have been installed on SD. I have reduced the space for text messages and already cleaned the cache.
I have some suspects on the Twitter for HTCsense widget..but not sure.
My device unfortunately is S-ON, so apparently rooting is not a piece of cake.
Any suggestion on:
- how to free up internal memory
- how to get in full control of the device removing non-intersting stock apps?
Thanks a lot for your help!
Did you try App2SD?
thanks King.
Yes I've tried it already with no success; I have just one app installed in the internal memory.
I have 14MB internally dedicated to the address book which i think cannot be moved to SD.
Other apps partially allocated to internal memory are Google+ and Facebook for which i reduced at the minimum the cache.
There are stock apps which also are annoying as I do not want them but cannot remove.
Do you have an idea where the data of the widget "twitter for HTC sense" are stored?..the widget keeps in memory many tweets, and I cannot size the allocated space to it..
Wow, I've like 30-40 apps (other than stock) installed on my phone. My address book is of 13.56 MB
check this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1162757
Maybe you can free some memory with this method
Hey alquez..let me know more! I'm struggling with insufficient memory!..I think I need to have the phone s-off to flash a ROM..am I right?
Thanks yaret..the method described there is for froyo..I'll try if I'll find no other options.
With no reasons I can explain today internal memory decreased at 4Mb..I delete all text messages, emails and removed Twitter account, but manage to gain only 2Mb..
I'm starting to feel frustrated,a photo app refused to work today due to low memory
Please share ideas on how to spot what's killing my phone..
Thanks to all
Thanks alquez..just let me know if in the meantime I need to s-off my phone.
I'll also try do a factory data reset and slowly install apps one by one to understand which one is killing my phone..

My wife phone suffered the same memory problem. Using App2sd doesn't give me enough memory.
Really need S-off & custom ROM

Gallery not reading pics on phone storage with MIUI Rom

Hi,
I just flashed the MIUI Rom(see version below) a week ago and I'm having an issue with pictures. Most of the pictures I took before I changed ROMs I saved to the phone storage because my SD card is only 4GB. The problem is since I've changed to this new ROM I can't view the pictures on the phone storage in the gallery app. The preview box shows up in the gallery app for the pictures on the phone storage(path is G:\DCIM\100MEDIA on the computer) but when I select it nothing happens. The only thing the gallery app is reading is any pics on the SD card. Is anyone else having this issue? Can anyone help me out here??? Thanks.
Android version - 2.3.5
Baseband version - 2.15.00.09.01
Kernel version - 2.6.36.6-cyanogenmod+
Build number MIUI-109230
I'm having the exact same issue with my dinc. Did you figure anything out??

The gallery on MIUI has a bug where it can not read from the internal memory.
You can use a free app like QuickPic to view photos on the internal memory card.
Good enough. I'll just wait for the new release, hopefully it'll be taken care of.
everything else is flawless! fantastic rom.

Rooting and low memory

I searched a good bit, but couldn't find the answer to this specific question. Will gaining root access get rid of the low memory error? I'd just ignore the error, except it keeps the gmail app from syncing. Sorry if it's a dumb question. I was hoping the 2.3 update would fix it, but it doesn't sound like it does, and now it's starting to sound like I may never get it! I may have to take the plunge and root....

Gaining root itself won't fix the error. However, many custom ROMs have it fixed. Not sure about the Sense ones, but the AOSP ones such as MIUI or CyanogenMod do.
Thanks for your response!

I don't think moving apps to SD works. I had it with a ROM I used and it's not an actual case of low memory. A ROM with the fix does work. I'm using one of WildStang's and it's working great.
Moving apps to the SD card will help (not fix) the issue on 2.3 roms because the .lib files are now moved to the SD card from the /data/data folder (they weren't on 2.2).
Once you get close to the 150mb limit in the /data/data folder you will start seeing the notification (or a bunch of force closes on AOSP roms)
Also the app "not enough space" can alleviate the problem, or an automated cache cleaner.

You mentioned the bunch of force closes on AOSP roms, I had this problem a few times with MIUI and CM7 where out of nowhere it would force close everything and the phone was unusable. Is this related to cache? I read that it might be corrupted contacts that caused the issue.
Man, I can't figure it out this time. Had the DI for 18 months, and I've always been able to fix this - facebook, contacts, or just trace it back to the most recently installed app. This time I can't figure it out. It's so frustrating - 18 months ago and went ahead and spent the extra money to get (at the time) the most powerful phone I could find as far as memory, and got the 32g card to go with it, so I wouldn't have to worry about this. Now I've got plenty of memory, but my phone doesn't think so!
I'm scared to death to root. I'd love to start messing with ROMs, but I'm scared to brick it, I'd be screwed.
Thanks for the responses....
possible fix
You should check out jermaine151's Stock+ version 2.1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1260994. I can't personally vouch for it as he just released it and it's a little late to start reinstalling everything, but it looks promising.
This mod will fix the low space problems.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1315372
I have been using it for about a week and no problems at all. Phone seems snappy and no annoying low space issue. It basically resizes the small partition to a bigger one. So no more low space notification.

Photo Saving Issues

Hi all, Ive searched through the forums and cant find the answer that im after so I thought I would ask it the question myself
The Problem
When using any of my cameras, once a picture is taken and I go to view it in the gallery I either get:-
1. The picture is saved properly and I can view it fine:victory:
2. The thumbnail for the image shows up fine but when I go to view the picture by touching the thumbnail, the image loads and then in front of my eyes, it corrupts by either turning completely grey or turning into blocks of different colours and then going grey.
3. When I open the gallery, the image is already corrupted and just shows a grey square with a lighting bolt through it.
When this all started, I was saving the pics to my 64gb sd card (exfat) using the ext2internal memory mod which caused my sd card to be viewed as internal memory while using Foxhound ROM. I then tried A different ROM so I went on to Chaos ROM (which I may add, is awesome) but to no avail. I then removed the ext2internal mod so it was seen as my external sd card again but this didn't fix anything either. Next, I decided to remove the sd card completely and save the photos on the internal sd card but that caused me another problem. I now take a photo but when I go to view it in the gallery, its not therre at all, its like I havent evn taken the picture. Ive used ES file explorer to search for the photos but I cant find them anywhere. Ive tried all the usual fixes but nothing seems to work, I am completely stumped.
Im getting really annoyed with this now as its been happening for a little while and ive lost some really awesome photos to this issue. I hope someone can help with this as I really dont know what to do next with it, I have almost given up taking pictures with it. I wouldnt even mind having to save to the phones internal sd card but i cant find where the pics are going once I have taken the photo.:crying:
PLEASE HELP
Can you view the photos if you connect to the PC ? Did you make sure to remove the file you used for the Mod ? Did you Format your SD Card properly before starting to use it ? Are you sure you checked all the Folders where the pictures might be ? DCIM, Pictures, and Media. Did you check in both Internal, and External Storage ?

Answers I'm the order that the questions were asked.
No
Yes
Yes
Yes
And finally Yes.
I formatted the sd card again and have put it back in the phone and I still can't find or save photos. I then re installed the ext2internal mod again and can now save and view pictures but I'm now back into the position I started in.
Any Ideas?

Your signature in the last post suggest i9300 S3? While many suggestions here may help, it is better if you asked in the Q&A forum for your device? Or in the Rom thread maybe someone else has experienced this and has a solution. This forum is the Sprint SPH-L710, while an S3 many things are different.

Hmmm. that Sig was not in his first post. I would tend to agree with ed. If you are not on a Sprint Device, you would be better off asking in the correct forum.

[Q] CM11 problem saving photos to external SD Card

Hello,
i have just installed the latest CM11 build from arco68 (2014-01-22: CM-11.0 20140122-UNOFFICIAL) on my Galaxy W I8150.
Everything worked well so far, but i have no idea how to save photos to the external SD card.
The sd card is readable (pictures saved on it are visible in the gallery app), but i can´t access it with the file manager.
Also, the sd-card is listed in settings->storage correctly and visible when i plug my phone via usb to the pc.
Is there anywhere an option in the camera app to save the photos to the external sdcard ?
I hope someone can help me with this, i´ve google´d now for an hour and searched in the thread , but coudn´t find anywhere a solution.
Thank you in advance!

This is not a bug or problem.
Cm Team didnt add saving photos to external sd option in camera app yet. With next release we will be usable to this feature

I noticed this bug too.
I tried many different apps and the ONLY one with working zoom for our phone running CM11 seems to be "Camera ZOOM FX" from the Play Store, cause you can select different zoom settings. You have to use setting 1 (there are 4 zoom options to choose).

If your using cm11 stock camera or the one i posted above, just reduce the picture size to below 5mp and it will work. Btw, you should have posted this kind of concern on CM11 Discussion / Bug report thread, maybe next time?

sure =)
I am using M6 build of cm11 on samsung galaxy grand.Sadly the option to save to sd card hasn't still been implemented. It causes fc with the google camera update as well when you go into the settings. Not being able to access the sd card via the camera app seems to be the reason for crashing of the updated app.
