Latest Cyanogen (7.0.2.), gingerbread camera and other camera apps

Well, I flashed latest Cyanogen mod, but then I found some problems with the phone. I'm not sure if it's really Cyanogen or something else, that's why I'm asking here.
Now, I always liked the default camera that comes with the phone, but this time, I can't find the timer on it. I have checked every single option and - nothing.
I figured that I might try some other camera apps, so far: Camera360, Camera Advance, Camera ZOOM FX and Vignette, they all work fine, but when it comes to saving pictures, nothing happens. I'm using some 3D gallery app, which comes with Cyanogen, I'm not sure what it's called, but it's fairly popular.
Any solution to this?

Appreciate your reasoning but please don't cross post (same question in multiple forums / threads).

You mean the picture is taken ok but are not being saved? Have you used a file manager or pc to check the DCIM folder on the SD Card? This is a very unique issue and not specific to the camera apps or the ROM. Let me know re above.

The Gallery 3D app is native to Android. It won't be responsible for the issues.

Sorry for late reply. Yes, the images are shown in gallery, it just reports location as unknown and when I check SD card (I have checked every folder) there are no pictures (even the newly created folders after I change save path) are not shown.
However, after you mentioned that I should check with file manager, I did so and I can see the pictures. But still, nothing on SD card, so I can't access them. I even tried sharing them on Facebook and sending g to my email then downloading, they show up in the gallery but not on SD card when I access it via PC.
What is causing this? PC issue?

Gallery not reading pics on phone storage with MIUI Rom

Hi,
I just flashed the MIUI Rom(see version below) a week ago and I'm having an issue with pictures. Most of the pictures I took before I changed ROMs I saved to the phone storage because my SD card is only 4GB. The problem is since I've changed to this new ROM I can't view the pictures on the phone storage in the gallery app. The preview box shows up in the gallery app for the pictures on the phone storage(path is G:\DCIM\100MEDIA on the computer) but when I select it nothing happens. The only thing the gallery app is reading is any pics on the SD card. Is anyone else having this issue? Can anyone help me out here??? Thanks.
Android version - 2.3.5
Baseband version - 2.15.00.09.01
Kernel version - 2.6.36.6-cyanogenmod+
Build number MIUI-109230

The gallery on MIUI has a bug where it can not read from the internal memory.
You can use a free app like QuickPic to view photos on the internal memory card.

Good enough. I'll just wait for the new release, hopefully it'll be taken care of.

Is anyone else having issues with the gallery and looking thru pics? Mine is REALLY slow and unresponsive. Often FC's bc of unresponsiveness. If I clear cache it works fine the next launch, but after that its the same thing. Other than that everything is super smooth and fast.
Anyone else with this issue??

I had this issue after I rooted the phone and deleted some bloatwares. Gallery was working fine until I deleted something. Don't remember what bloatwares I deleted though. So I installed custom rom and gallery working perfect again. Must be some kind of bloatwares I deleted that messed up the gallery.

I had the same issue even from stock everything when i first put in my sdcard. There was a few corrupted pictures which was making the gallery not load anything right.

Gallery issue
I discovered the issue: in Gallery menu, choose View by, and choose Content in device. The gallery works normally after that.
The problem is that when you close the gallery and reopens you have to do the same. The Gallery doesn't keep the setting...
Does anybody know how to do keep the setting permanently?

Yea. I am aware of that. I couldn't find a resolution, so downloaded "Quickpic" from play store. It's an alternate gallery and is free. Works like a charm.
I can't believe Samsung/Tmobile doesn't check these things.

The only issues I have is that it won't sync my Google+ photo albums, even though it's setup to do so.

I had issues like this before on the GS2 and a few times when I first got my GN2. The GN2 was right out of the box and it loaded up gallery really slow and lagging, until the point where the gallery give my a GALLERY NOT RESPONDING message. I found out that the photos that lag, take forever to load or doesnt load at all are the ones on my external SD card. I tried to add more photos to the External SD to see what happen and most of the time not all the photos copy over and errors with the card. I did a SD card format using the phone and put all the photos back on, it works just fine now. No more lag, no more errors and photos are loading fast. If youre also using external SD to store your photos like me, then maybe this is the same problem you're having, but if you're on an internal memory storage then I dont know. =) Just a memory card issue and require quick format for me.

Photo Saving Issues

Hi all, Ive searched through the forums and cant find the answer that im after so I thought I would ask it the question myself
The Problem
When using any of my cameras, once a picture is taken and I go to view it in the gallery I either get:-
1. The picture is saved properly and I can view it fine:victory:
2. The thumbnail for the image shows up fine but when I go to view the picture by touching the thumbnail, the image loads and then in front of my eyes, it corrupts by either turning completely grey or turning into blocks of different colours and then going grey.
3. When I open the gallery, the image is already corrupted and just shows a grey square with a lighting bolt through it.
When this all started, I was saving the pics to my 64gb sd card (exfat) using the ext2internal memory mod which caused my sd card to be viewed as internal memory while using Foxhound ROM. I then tried A different ROM so I went on to Chaos ROM (which I may add, is awesome) but to no avail. I then removed the ext2internal mod so it was seen as my external sd card again but this didn't fix anything either. Next, I decided to remove the sd card completely and save the photos on the internal sd card but that caused me another problem. I now take a photo but when I go to view it in the gallery, its not therre at all, its like I havent evn taken the picture. Ive used ES file explorer to search for the photos but I cant find them anywhere. Ive tried all the usual fixes but nothing seems to work, I am completely stumped.
Im getting really annoyed with this now as its been happening for a little while and ive lost some really awesome photos to this issue. I hope someone can help with this as I really dont know what to do next with it, I have almost given up taking pictures with it. I wouldnt even mind having to save to the phones internal sd card but i cant find where the pics are going once I have taken the photo.:crying:

Can you view the photos if you connect to the PC ? Did you make sure to remove the file you used for the Mod ? Did you Format your SD Card properly before starting to use it ? Are you sure you checked all the Folders where the pictures might be ? DCIM, Pictures, and Media. Did you check in both Internal, and External Storage ?

I formatted the sd card again and have put it back in the phone and I still can't find or save photos. I then re installed the ext2internal mod again and can now save and view pictures but I'm now back into the position I started in.
Any Ideas?

Your signature in the last post suggest i9300 S3? While many suggestions here may help, it is better if you asked in the Q&A forum for your device? Or in the Rom thread maybe someone else has experienced this and has a solution. This forum is the Sprint SPH-L710, while an S3 many things are different.

Hmmm. that Sig was not in his first post. I would tend to agree with ed. If you are not on a Sprint Device, you would be better off asking in the correct forum.

Saving photos to SD card

Unlike all other phones I have used the Swift appears to save all photos to the internal memory rather than the SD card. Is there a way to change this on the phone or must I use a PC or app to transfer them?

Thanks for the reply robin0800 but I have already searched camera/settings and there is no "storage" option there.

The camera app on my phone is cyanogenmod.snap perhaps you have a different one?

Sorry for delay in responding - I did not get a prompt to tell me of your latest response. (Hopefully I have fixed that now)
I don't know the exact details of the camera app - how do I find out? It is the one which came installed on the phone when I bought it.

WileyFox Save to SD Card
Open Camera app.
At the top scroll to the right. Camera. Video. General.
Under General tab you will find the Storage option to save to Internal or Sd card.

since the Nov update the option to set storage location is gone and camera is creating a new folder for images. Any fix?

Open camera app as advised above, click on the cog wheel and look closely at the top row there are three (3) options Camera/Video/General.
You may to swipe left to find them.
Choose General and there is an option to set storage location.

Since the update under "General" there is only:
Volume zoom
Left-handed
Bright screen
other
Restore defaults.
Ive looked again and again and just cant find it anywhere.

Sorry to hear that.
Just a thought you don't have your SD card setup as Internal Storage do you?
You might try installing 'Open Camera App' instead.
This certainly allows saving to SD Cards, assuming that your SD Card is enabled as Portable Storage.

Not sure to be honest. When I go in to settings/storage It says internal and sd card.
If I remove the card and try to read it on a pc, I can't, or I get a message saying must be formatted to use, which leads me to think it is for matted as internal.
Prob with using a second camera app (I have snap cam) is it still doesnt fix the issue with instagram.
Things were fine before the November update.
