3800 mah or 2000 mah oem? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

hey guys, i want to buy a extended battery for my gnex, but i cant decide between 35USD samsung 2000mah battery or 8USD 3800mah one.
some guys says that 3800mah wont last a month and after will drop from 50% to 10% in minutes, but i think 2000mah is too little additional on 1750mah stock battery. what do you guys think?
thanks in advance

I'd buy the 2000 one and use the 1750 as a spare for heavy days. This way you don't have the bulk the 3800 brings to the Nexus. I have all three and estimate the 3800 is more like 2500 and thus not really an upgrade over the 2000 one.

I would say just get this. Can use it on new phone and other devices.

I would say go with the extended. I bought the Hyperion 3800 and the trexcell extended case and I couldn't be any happier with it.
The battery is more than double in my real world experience. The bulk isn't that serious to me at least. I just love using my phone without worrying about battery life.

but hyperion is a good brand, and my nexus is a gsm i9250 not compatible. the 3800 battery i was asking is generic brands, i dont know if worth spend money on them
EDIT: generic batteries can hurt my phone? like explode or anything else?

i have the qcell 3850 for about 2 weeks. i love it no complaints so far

i guess definitly 3800 is the choice if you are looking for pure battery life .. you only need to see if it "fits" your hand or not .... but for the comments i see on the forum, it looks like is just a matter of getting use to it

I just recently bought the onite 3500mah battery(with NFC) for 20$. Yet to test, m out of country ATM, but there are excellent reviews on amazon for it

Also using qcell 3850 for a few weeks and been pretty happy with the performance so far. Easily go through 1 day ++ (sometimes 2 days) with moderate usage.
The extra bulk didn't bother me at all.

I researched a lot before spending money on a new battery and the conclusion I made is that is better buy a new battery instead a power pack, so I have two options the 10 dollars 3900mah battery or 18 dollars 3850mah hyperion battery. Does hyperion brand worth this price over the generic brand?

I will give a try at the 10usd 3900mah, and the seidio or mugen batteries are too expensive, 90usd. do you think it will worth to buy?

Just ordered a $10 3800 mah battery myself.
But don't know when it will finally reach me since I am in India.

I just ordered a 2100 mah and I hope its good shouldn't be bulky hope I can use my cases with it.

I bought the 2100 Samsung extended for $25 on sale, about a month later I bought the Hyperon 3800 and I couldn't be happier.
The extended one Samsung tries to sell you is a joke, it's only a few hundred mah bigger.
I love my hyperon battery and the bulk isn't that bad, I actually like the small lip on the bottom it's nice for holding the phone up. Plus I've gotten almost 5 hours of screen time before.

I just got that battery today from Sprint. My TPU case fits with it just fine. I don't think any 2 piece snap together would, but I can't say that for sure as I only have the one case.

Yeah, it does last a little longer. Hell, for $7 any brand new battery would have been worth it. Plus a new back? Winning all around.

Especially a back that fits more than the older one. No creaking

[Q] Yet another battery thread

Ok, i believe that i read some time back that you could use a touch pro 2 battery in the evo. correct me if im wrong, but if the stock battery that we use is as true to 1500mah, wouldnt the HTC manufactured 2150 mah be one of the best extended batteries to buy? I have found a couple for sale, and wanted to be sure that the touch pro 2 battery does in fact work in our evo. thanks and sorry for yet another battery post.
http://www.amazon.com/Sprint-RHOD17..._1_4?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1301383140&sr=1-4
Here is the amazon link to the batteries. I know they wont fit under our stock door but for 10 slices of paper from my wallet plus the addition of having to buy another stock evo battery cover to modify to fit this battery, I feel like this isn't a bad deal considering the price. I should get the battery sometime around Friday or Monday of next week. Will post pics of said modification and results as soon as possible.
there are "3500" mAh batteries available for under $10 too. I believe they are closer to 2800. I've found the yoobao 3000mah batteries to be the best, got mine for 20 shipped.
and yes, the tp2 will work in an evo. you aren't going to be able to mod the stock cover to fit that. just buy an extended cover, you can get them with the battery for about 8.

Well I'm gonna hack up my old battery Cover so the battery will stick through. I have one of those crystal gel cases that will hold the battery in place, I just want the cover there to act as a speaker cover. The extended covers make the phone too large. I think this will keep the phone slim it will only be slightly thicker than it is now. I have come up with a couple of designs as well that allow me to use the stock battery door and hold the battery in place without my case. Like I stated in my earlier post, I'll post up the concept and see what ppl think. I just wish they made a battery cover that went around the battery and not make the entire back bubble out.
Check out the Mugen 4500 mah battery if you will be hacking up your back cover... I think there is a thread that has info for it.. Search
Gimme a week and ill post what im doing. Lol i still wanna keep the phone slim for the most part, so no 3500 or 4500 mah batteries

Love the Innocell 1750mAh extended battery

I purchased the "Innocell 1750mAh Slim Extended Life Battery" from Seidio online.
I was getting just enough from the stock battery to get me through until I went to bed and put my inc2 on the charger.
Now I can go a day and a half before I need to charge!
All this and it fits with the stock cover. Definitely worth the 45 dollars!

Give it a couple of full charges... before you start getting the full advantage of batt.
I hated the ones I got for my Inc1. Lasted just as long as stock battery and that wasn't worth $45. I traded it out twice thinking it was maybe a bad battery. Same problem even after waiting a couple days of use. Sold it to my friend and he hates it. Best battery I bought was the 1600mah oem TP2 HTC battery from ebay for $5. Lasted two days on that thing plus it was OEM. I'll consider Seidio again but I wasn't happy the first time around.

Agreed. Typically third party batteries (including Seidio) have exaggerated mah ratings. The batteries that are marketed as being extended batteries might have a little more juice, but not nearly as much as the rating indicates. They often tend to wear out much quicker.
Glad this one seems to be working for the OP though. Perhaps this one is different than most of the rest.

Love my Mugen slim extended, definitely significant more life out of it over stock
I have the Mugen also; I tried the Seidio 1750 w/my DInc1 and while it was an improvement over the stock battery it did not perform well over time. I've had the Mugen for ~3 weeks now and am quite happy with it...I hope I can say the same thing in a few more months.

I've gone through a lot of batteries for my Inc1 and best results come from the OEM batteries.
Ordered a lot off eBay and only seller bidallies sold legit OEM. The generic work but lose capacity over a few weeks and are off on the ratings, Seidio is good but barely better than stock and not worth the $$$ on the original Inc. I'll be trying a Mugen next.
So I recommend saving the money you'd waste on the junk batteries and buy a good one that'll last.

Yeah I'd like to keep stock back cover. Like I mentioned with the Inc1, the HTC Touch Pro 2 battery fits fine and it was a 1600mah while the stock Inc1 battery was (in HTCs infinite wisdom) a 1300mah. Fit snug but still fit under stock battery cover and gave extra few hours of life.

Smaller extended battery?(2100mah < x > 3800mah)

Hi,
Has anyone come across a smaller extended battery for the Galaxy Nexus? I want an in-between battery size! I have the seidio 3800mah battery and it functions great but looks like crap! I have the 2100 mah battery and it is ok but I want a few extra hours without sacrificing functionality (IE:using juice defender) The battery door is ugly and poorly designed on the 3800 mah battery in my opinion. What I am looking for is a 2500mah -2900mah battery that has a more svelte battery door keeping the aesthetics of the phone intact. Anyone come across anything like I am describing? I'd even settle for a nicer battery door on the seidio battery.
Edit: title should read "Smaller extended battery?(2100mah > x < 3800mah)"
I've never seen one personally.

The Seidio battery door is hideous in my opinion. It is a black rubber like material with a matte finish which doesn't match the phone at all. Also, the hump and curve of the battery door seem unnecessarily big. I feel like it could be designed better.
The Q-Cell battery looks interesting because their battery door is supposed to mimic the original with hyperskin texture and color. I wonder how it looks and feels up close. Even though it it 20 bucks I won't spring for it because I would essentially be paying for just the door. I don't need the battery just the door. I'll keep trolling amazon and ebay for something.
Not as important as either a math teacher or an engineer.
Financial Controller
The 3800mAh that QCell offers is a great bang for your buck. For those wondering, the back cover has a little bit more grain/texture to it than the original GNex's. It does look very similar. Definitely worth it if you're looking to keep the stock look, but with a larger capacity batter.
I liked how seidio had extended batteries for my blackberry that fit under the standard door. This should apply for the gnex!

Laza Zcell NFC 3800mah Extended Battery

Just ordered. Anyone know anything about it?
Its a good buy if anyone needs the extra battery life. It doesn't add that much bulk and has a case that can be purchased with it.
can u report back about how well it does, i was contemplating gettng this as well
With heavy usage (Emails, Calls, SMS, Being productive with the device, etc...) I get 16 hours on a full charge. With light to moderate usage (Sleep, Down time) I get 20 + hours. I'm on stock everything. With my old stock battery I was getting 6 to 10 hours on a full charge (light to heavy usage). It's a good feeling not worrying about the battery dying and having to charge it when I'm out and about anymore. And even with the case, it fits comfortable in the pocket.
any pictures of the phone with the battery
I was also thinking about buying this battery
I have another extended battery from Amazon they sell for 13
I know they also sell QCell brand for 20
Can anyone compare any extended batteries for gs2?
Did you get a case for Laza? How it feels? Same plastic as back cover or rubber feel?

I will post pictures soon. The case is the same material as the back cover. Only negative thing is that it slips around on surfaces. I am currently thinking of ways to mod with my old TPU case.
Thanks for reply.
I guess I won't be buying that case.
I was hoping that it's made from rubber / silicone material like tpu cases. Have no idea why no company wants to make extended battery cases when so many people use big batteries.
I for myself bought a cheap $3 case on eBay, cut out the back and use it that way, sort of bumper style custom made.

I had purchased a previous extended battery that was ok but not what I was expecting as far a battery life, with the stock original battery I would get about 4 hrs before reaching 20%, with old extended battery I would reach 20% at about 5 to 6 hours, I was hoping for at least 8 hours of use! The use I put the battery thru is reading 20 to 30 emails per day, Internet Web browsing aprx. 1 hr. and music for the remainder of time, so my usage is not that heavy, my HTC HD2:laugh: with extended battery easily made it all day and part of next day!:good: and my usage on HTC HD2 was very heavy compared to my Galaxy S2! I would estimate almost 4 times as much! so hopefully this battery will do better! Is there a list of extended batteries with life times noted anywhere?, I did a quick search but just get little tid bits.
Which extended battery you talking about? Which brand?
I see like 5 being sold on Amazon.

Guys, this battery is the best.
I'm a really heavy user and have all things on full time sync, including Gmail. And this battery lasts the longest. Not sure if it's really 3800 or whether it's has nfc built-in like advertised.
But I've used 3500 battery that's sold on Amazon for $13, and this one so far feels stronger.
Will see how it will work, o ly time could tell, but do far I'm very happy with this purchase.
BTW, the case they sell is really nice too. Maybe it's made from plastic, but feels soft to touch, kind of like silicone. And since no one makes any cases for extended battery, I'm glad I've bought their case as well !

Yeah this battery is really good I am getting good use out of it. I am a very heavy user and I get almost the whole day out of it. I havent tested out the NFC but I am sure it works. Also I like thew case it is great, I also used to use the seido case for the stock battery and it came with a face clip and the phone now fits the face clip with the extended battery and case on. That really makes me happy.
I just received my battery the other day and I am a VERY HEAVY use and at the end of a 12 hour day I am around 50% which is awesome! Also the NFC and to have greater range then the stock Samsung batteries both the nexus extended and the stock one that came with our phones just an fyi update

It's a great battery, and it ships from California so you don't have to wait 3 weeks like you do for the cheap ones that ship from China. However, I should say that I purchased one of the cheap ones ($7.50, including the replacement humpback cover, which is identical to the Laza one) from China on eBay and, other than taking forever and a day to arrive, it's as good as the Laza if not better.
The case lasted 2 weeks and then the top corner snapped off when I took it out of my pocket. Wish I could find a simple gel case that will fit.

The battery life is GREAT, however it does NOT support NFC.
NFC works perfectly on my phone with the stock battery, with this battery it does not work at all.
If you want great battery life and don't care about NFC then it's a great battery, if you want NFC you'll have to find another battery.

Hyperion 3500 mah extended battery

Alright I'm getting the Hyperion 3500 mah extended battery with the tpu case and was wondering how much you guys like it?
Looks Good
I want one !
I bought one in June and was THRILLED with it, compared to the stock battery. Made the phone useful finally and lasted a long time - it's now 6 mos later and it's dead - that's why they only have a 3 month warranty. So I now have to spend $25 every six months to use my Galaxy Nexus.
Hey, am now thinking off buying Hyperion battery, has the same happened to any1 else?
Generally how is the response of these batteries? On ebay, sellers which ship to india dont have hyperion, so any suggestion on other brand?
