[Q] Yet another battery thread - EVO 4G Accessories

Ok, i believe that i read some time back that you could use a touch pro 2 battery in the evo. correct me if im wrong, but if the stock battery that we use is as true to 1500mah, wouldnt the HTC manufactured 2150 mah be one of the best extended batteries to buy? I have found a couple for sale, and wanted to be sure that the touch pro 2 battery does in fact work in our evo. thanks and sorry for yet another battery post.

http://www.amazon.com/Sprint-RHOD17..._1_4?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1301383140&sr=1-4
Here is the amazon link to the batteries. I know they wont fit under our stock door but for 10 slices of paper from my wallet plus the addition of having to buy another stock evo battery cover to modify to fit this battery, I feel like this isn't a bad deal considering the price. I should get the battery sometime around Friday or Monday of next week. Will post pics of said modification and results as soon as possible.

there are "3500" mAh batteries available for under $10 too. I believe they are closer to 2800. I've found the yoobao 3000mah batteries to be the best, got mine for 20 shipped.
and yes, the tp2 will work in an evo. you aren't going to be able to mod the stock cover to fit that. just buy an extended cover, you can get them with the battery for about 8.

Well I'm gonna hack up my old battery Cover so the battery will stick through. I have one of those crystal gel cases that will hold the battery in place, I just want the cover there to act as a speaker cover. The extended covers make the phone too large. I think this will keep the phone slim it will only be slightly thicker than it is now. I have come up with a couple of designs as well that allow me to use the stock battery door and hold the battery in place without my case. Like I stated in my earlier post, I'll post up the concept and see what ppl think. I just wish they made a battery cover that went around the battery and not make the entire back bubble out.

Check out the Mugen 4500 mah battery if you will be hacking up your back cover... I think there is a thread that has info for it.. Search

Gimme a week and ill post what im doing. Lol i still wanna keep the phone slim for the most part, so no 3500 or 4500 mah batteries

I'm loving my Yoobao 3000mah battery. With medium use, overclocking and custom kernel, I get about 36 hours out of my phone. Well 28-29 not counting sleep time.

verdict 2150mha touch pro 2 battery DOES NOT WORK!!!! Repeat DOES NOT WORK! So i bought a sedio 3500 battery and fell in love with that instead!

I have to say that looks better than the 3500ma from seidio.
it does!!! i just ordered it just so i can take that back and do the carbon fiber DIY on it. I think it would look awesome
also is the 2600mah and the 3600mah battery the same size
I'm tempted, but does anyone know anything about the make of the battery? Thats awfully cheap.. i'd be scared of starting on fire
heh
Wow a fat battery door for less than $15 shipped.
Now, lets see some normal sized battery doors on ebay.
Its cheap enough, ill bite. I got a 2300mah battery and door from an unknown manufacture when I had a G1 and it worked great, im willing to give this a try. Ill report back once I get it
im half tempted to get this... ive got a 3500 mah batttery from seidio that i got for my hero, it would fit in my evo just fine but i dont have a back cover
i might just have to send the seller a message and ask how "thick" the battery is... if its anywhere close to seido's 3500 mah unit ill jump on it

it clearly shows the holes for both flashes
I don't want any battery that requires a larger back cover. Im waiting for a 2000mAh to come out that will fit as is!
I can't believe how badass the EVO is now. I've had mine for like a month exactly and I get impressed by the amount of accessories popping up for it every week. GO EVO! 15$! count me in even if its crap! I think I spent 15$ on lunch today and thats already looooong gone....ew

I used seidios online chat to ask a couple questions...
the rep told me 1. they do not accept paypal(just to ask) and 2. you can get the extended battery door alone for around $15 but you have to call them as it "is part of a package which they have to break up"
that will fit your 3500 hero battery (which i have aswell)
done and done.
Ew. Looks like a throwback to the Motorola Microtac days. Why would anyone want to turn their phones into a brick when they can have 3000mAh available to them by carrying an extra battery in their wallet? Crime deterrent ?
my hands are big so bring on the big back door and no need to charge during the day

I bought one of these off eBay a month ago, it's about the same as the OEM battery, so it's a good backup, but not a replacement.

Love the Innocell 1750mAh extended battery

I purchased the "Innocell 1750mAh Slim Extended Life Battery" from Seidio online.
I was getting just enough from the stock battery to get me through until I went to bed and put my inc2 on the charger.
Now I can go a day and a half before I need to charge!
All this and it fits with the stock cover. Definitely worth the 45 dollars!

Give it a couple of full charges... before you start getting the full advantage of batt.
I hated the ones I got for my Inc1. Lasted just as long as stock battery and that wasn't worth $45. I traded it out twice thinking it was maybe a bad battery. Same problem even after waiting a couple days of use. Sold it to my friend and he hates it. Best battery I bought was the 1600mah oem TP2 HTC battery from ebay for $5. Lasted two days on that thing plus it was OEM. I'll consider Seidio again but I wasn't happy the first time around.

Agreed. Typically third party batteries (including Seidio) have exaggerated mah ratings. The batteries that are marketed as being extended batteries might have a little more juice, but not nearly as much as the rating indicates. They often tend to wear out much quicker.
Glad this one seems to be working for the OP though. Perhaps this one is different than most of the rest.

I bought 1800mah Mugen Power instead, heard good things about their battery, it's slim so I don't have to use different back cover. still waiting for mine.
Love my Mugen slim extended, definitely significant more life out of it over stock
I have the Mugen also; I tried the Seidio 1750 w/my DInc1 and while it was an improvement over the stock battery it did not perform well over time. I've had the Mugen for ~3 weeks now and am quite happy with it...I hope I can say the same thing in a few more months.

I've gone through a lot of batteries for my Inc1 and best results come from the OEM batteries.
Ordered a lot off eBay and only seller bidallies sold legit OEM. The generic work but lose capacity over a few weeks and are off on the ratings, Seidio is good but barely better than stock and not worth the $$$ on the original Inc. I'll be trying a Mugen next.
So I recommend saving the money you'd waste on the junk batteries and buy a good one that'll last.

Yeah I'd like to keep stock back cover. Like I mentioned with the Inc1, the HTC Touch Pro 2 battery fits fine and it was a 1600mah while the stock Inc1 battery was (in HTCs infinite wisdom) a 1300mah. Fit snug but still fit under stock battery cover and gave extra few hours of life.
Save the money and just order a couple original stock ones on eBay for $10 a pop.
Don't need to go into details about how your paying for a placebo affect. I made the mistake. Never again.

Laza Zcell NFC 3800mah Extended Battery

Just ordered. Anyone know anything about it?
Its a good buy if anyone needs the extra battery life. It doesn't add that much bulk and has a case that can be purchased with it.
can u report back about how well it does, i was contemplating gettng this as well
With heavy usage (Emails, Calls, SMS, Being productive with the device, etc...) I get 16 hours on a full charge. With light to moderate usage (Sleep, Down time) I get 20 + hours. I'm on stock everything. With my old stock battery I was getting 6 to 10 hours on a full charge (light to heavy usage). It's a good feeling not worrying about the battery dying and having to charge it when I'm out and about anymore. And even with the case, it fits comfortable in the pocket.
any pictures of the phone with the battery
I was also thinking about buying this battery
I have another extended battery from Amazon they sell for 13
I know they also sell QCell brand for 20
Can anyone compare any extended batteries for gs2?
Did you get a case for Laza? How it feels? Same plastic as back cover or rubber feel?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
I will post pictures soon. The case is the same material as the back cover. Only negative thing is that it slips around on surfaces. I am currently thinking of ways to mod with my old TPU case.
Thanks for reply.
I guess I won't be buying that case.
I was hoping that it's made from rubber / silicone material like tpu cases. Have no idea why no company wants to make extended battery cases when so many people use big batteries.
I for myself bought a cheap $3 case on eBay, cut out the back and use it that way, sort of bumper style custom made.

I had purchased a previous extended battery that was ok but not what I was expecting as far a battery life, with the stock original battery I would get about 4 hrs before reaching 20%, with old extended battery I would reach 20% at about 5 to 6 hours, I was hoping for at least 8 hours of use! The use I put the battery thru is reading 20 to 30 emails per day, Internet Web browsing aprx. 1 hr. and music for the remainder of time, so my usage is not that heavy, my HTC HD2:laugh: with extended battery easily made it all day and part of next day!:good: and my usage on HTC HD2 was very heavy compared to my Galaxy S2! I would estimate almost 4 times as much! so hopefully this battery will do better! Is there a list of extended batteries with life times noted anywhere?, I did a quick search but just get little tid bits.
Which extended battery you talking about? Which brand?
I see like 5 being sold on Amazon.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Guys, this battery is the best.
I'm a really heavy user and have all things on full time sync, including Gmail. And this battery lasts the longest. Not sure if it's really 3800 or whether it's has nfc built-in like advertised.
But I've used 3500 battery that's sold on Amazon for $13, and this one so far feels stronger.
Will see how it will work, o ly time could tell, but do far I'm very happy with this purchase.
BTW, the case they sell is really nice too. Maybe it's made from plastic, but feels soft to touch, kind of like silicone. And since no one makes any cases for extended battery, I'm glad I've bought their case as well !

Yeah this battery is really good I am getting good use out of it. I am a very heavy user and I get almost the whole day out of it. I havent tested out the NFC but I am sure it works. Also I like thew case it is great, I also used to use the seido case for the stock battery and it came with a face clip and the phone now fits the face clip with the extended battery and case on. That really makes me happy.
I just received my battery the other day and I am a VERY HEAVY use and at the end of a 12 hour day I am around 50% which is awesome! Also the NFC and to have greater range then the stock Samsung batteries both the nexus extended and the stock one that came with our phones just an fyi update

It's a great battery, and it ships from California so you don't have to wait 3 weeks like you do for the cheap ones that ship from China. However, I should say that I purchased one of the cheap ones ($7.50, including the replacement humpback cover, which is identical to the Laza one) from China on eBay and, other than taking forever and a day to arrive, it's as good as the Laza if not better.
The case lasted 2 weeks and then the top corner snapped off when I took it out of my pocket. Wish I could find a simple gel case that will fit.

Ordered this battery on Amazon and got it over the weekend.
The battery life is GREAT, however it does NOT support NFC.
NFC works perfectly on my phone with the stock battery, with this battery it does not work at all.
If you want great battery life and don't care about NFC then it's a great battery, if you want NFC you'll have to find another battery.
Good battery for prize ijust got it and love

Mugen 4600 vs. Hyperion-Anker

Does anyone have a Mugen 4600 battery along with one of the other extended batteries?
Wondering if it is the same size as he other extended batteries. The Anker, Hyperion, QCell all seem to be about the same thickness.
If it is the same size then you could use the same door and TPU case that comes from the other companies. If it is thicker then there isn't a case out there that will fit the Mugen.
Thanks in advance.

Official VZW extended battery w/ stock cover

Hey all,
I have the VZW GNexus, and I'm thinking about buying the 2100mAh battery for a bit more battery life out of it. I already have two portable chargers(one 6000mAh, another 3000mAh. What? I don't like running out of power. ), but I'd like to be able to last just a bit longer before needing to charge. Now, the problem is, I also managed to get my hands on the special back cover with the design that was given out to Google employees during Christmas 2012, and I'd hate to have to get rid of it. Could anyone with the official extended battery tell me if the stock cover will fit with the extended battery in?
Thanks!

I have that now kind of, extended battery and stock case, but broke the bottom right clip trying to get it on... It puts stress on the clips for sure, be careful.... Wouldn't wanna hurt that limited edition cover lol
Edit: took the case off that was holding the battery cover on more or less, it stays on now, the broken clip doesn't make it stick out, it's in somehow... But it bulges a little, I don't have another cam to post a pic unfortunately...

The VZW OEM EXT battery works perfect in the OB Commuter with no door. If that is something you are interesting in.
My next project is to dremel the hard plastic on the inside of the Defender to fit one of those fat third party batteries with all that supposed extra juice. I have read guides on how to do this in sub forums for other devices. If all goes well the soft rubber that goes on the outside of the Defender holds in the battery with minimal bulge. Will report back after I attempt this.

I'm not sure how people are saying the stock back fits with the verizon extended battery. I bought the extended vzw battery and backplate when i bought my phone. The original backplate partially snaps on, at the top and bottom of the phone. the sides will not snap shut due to the slight increase in battery thickness.
I also have bought an anker battery (amazon) that is rated at 2200 mah. It is identical in size to the stock 1850 battery and fits perfectly under the original backplate. the downside is that this battery is designed for the tmobile galaxysS2 and does not have the nfc chip (not an issue for me as i do not use it anyway). I will provide the link to the battery below that also includes a wall charger. For 20 dollars you get the two batteries and the wall charger. I'd say the battery life of these ankers are less than the verizon 2100 mah but certainly more than the oem 1850.
http://www.amazon.com/Anker-Batteri...&qid=1362421935&sr=8-1&keywords=anker+verizon
tl;dr: the vzw 2100mah will not fit behind stock backplate. these anker ones will and are a good deal.

The stock extended battery most certainly fits under the standard battery door. It has a tiny bulge but works fine no mod needed.
