Hi,
Has anyone come across a smaller extended battery for the Galaxy Nexus? I want an in-between battery size! I have the seidio 3800mah battery and it functions great but looks like crap! I have the 2100 mah battery and it is ok but I want a few extra hours without sacrificing functionality (IE:using juice defender) The battery door is ugly and poorly designed on the 3800 mah battery in my opinion. What I am looking for is a 2500mah -2900mah battery that has a more svelte battery door keeping the aesthetics of the phone intact. Anyone come across anything like I am describing? I'd even settle for a nicer battery door on the seidio battery.
Edit: title should read "Smaller extended battery?(2100mah > x < 3800mah)"
I've never seen one personally.

I'm pretty bummed about the 2100 mAh battery as well, was thinking about throwing money down for a Hyperion on Amazon for $20, but is the cover really that horrid??

The Seidio battery door is hideous in my opinion. It is a black rubber like material with a matte finish which doesn't match the phone at all. Also, the hump and curve of the battery door seem unnecessarily big. I feel like it could be designed better.
The Q-Cell battery looks interesting because their battery door is supposed to mimic the original with hyperskin texture and color. I wonder how it looks and feels up close. Even though it it 20 bucks I won't spring for it because I would essentially be paying for just the door. I don't need the battery just the door. I'll keep trolling amazon and ebay for something.
Not as important as either a math teacher or an engineer.
Financial Controller
The 3800mAh that QCell offers is a great bang for your buck. For those wondering, the back cover has a little bit more grain/texture to it than the original GNex's. It does look very similar. Definitely worth it if you're looking to keep the stock look, but with a larger capacity batter.
I liked how seidio had extended batteries for my blackberry that fit under the standard door. This should apply for the gnex!

Thank you for posting this.
I am really hoping there's a solution to this problem.
I have a 4200mAH Qcell battery for my Samsung Epic Touch 4G and I wouldn't part with it for the world. It's an insanely high quality battery for the money. I basically used a hard-shell/soft-shell bracer from a cheap case I bought, threw away the inner part, and just made the outer part "fit" the phone with that large battery in there.
I don't care if the solution is ghetto or weirdly-rigged, as long as it's snug and works, I'm interested.

Yeah, a case for the extended battery is my concern also. I do not want to buy the battery and be stuck using a case that gives very little protection. I have an idea which I got off the htc rezound threads. They have modified a trident kraken case to fit the extended battery. here is the link to that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1550351&page=3
However before I go ahead with such a thing I really want to make sure it will work. I need to know precise dimensions of the battery and the thickness of the silicone gel inside the trident case

Hyperion makes a tpu case for their extended battery. It may work on other extended battery setups.

Here's a link to the TPU extended battery case on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008MMZUZS/ref=ox_ya_os_product
Nice to see my mod from the rezound still being used but I dont know if it would work out good on this phone, the trident logo is part of the rubber on this case instead of being part of the outer shell, so if you do cut it your going to see the battery. unless the battery is black then it might not look as bad. Im probably going to pick up a Kraken case soon and I might give it a try anyway
was thinking of tris this on the otterbox commuter. but i dont think the inner rubber layer is thick enough to compensate for the volume the battery will take up.
one thing to note 2 Samsung batteries back to back with stickers and one NFC Annette removed are thinner than some of the generic extended batteries ive looked into.
Interesting to know. If you have dimensions for the batter, please share. Thanks.

Watch Seidio.com they informed me via email that they are coming out with an extended battery and soon after a convert case (comparable to Otterbox, Ballistic in protection). I'm not sure if it will work with other manufactures batteries but it should.
@Italiankd. Perhaps the logo could be cut out and then placed back on the battery from the outside. I just checked out pictures of the Cyclops case, and its the same issue.

i was thinking... if i could find one of theses cases with out the notch cutout in the corner:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-TPU-B...Accessories&hash=item20c7308a1b#ht_896wt_1165
i could cut away the lil bit that needs removed for the extended back to fit a bam! what do you guys think? id think it would be best for me anyway as i dont want extra thinkness i just want to protect he screen from drops. so only the sides need a bit of protection.
I bought the one on the Gillebob's Mobilefun UK link, from Hong Kong directly. They have higher capacity better models. Mine was 2200 mAh model and cost me only $40 delivery included. I do not keep it on the phone all the time since it is bulky. When I need some power I connect the phone and use it while charging it my battery. It is very handy and doec not affect the signal quality or the NFC. I keep it charged and ready for any occasion. Check the pics and if you are interested contact me. :good:

someone was doing tests on it, and found that it will not fully discharge into the phone's batt (seems logical, you can never empty a battery into another battery)... so what you end up with is:
a case that is larger in every dimension than the hyperion 4200mAH (even with the hyperion extended battery case)
and an end result of less than 4200mAH usable juice.
but you can easily disconnect it, for streamlined (albeit caseless) pocketablility.

I have been using it for about a month now and as it has been said it discharges around 85% to the phone battery. There is always one light remains even if it stops charging the phone.
My phone goes around day and a half with it's own juice and if I need power on the go when I go to beach or something this case comes very handy. I slip it on when I am on the road and if I need the power I just push the button. When I am out of the car, I slip the phone out and I do not have the bulkiness with me. I am happy and waiting for the 4500 mAh one now.
Hows the recharge rate? Like if u get to 1-2% and activate the battery will it still be sufficient enough to continue what you were doing as well as still giving it some juice?

Does anyone have a Mugen 4600 battery along with one of the other extended batteries?
Wondering if it is the same size as he other extended batteries. The Anker, Hyperion, QCell all seem to be about the same thickness.
If it is the same size then you could use the same door and TPU case that comes from the other companies. If it is thicker then there isn't a case out there that will fit the Mugen.
Thanks in advance.

Hey all,
I have the VZW GNexus, and I'm thinking about buying the 2100mAh battery for a bit more battery life out of it. I already have two portable chargers(one 6000mAh, another 3000mAh. What? I don't like running out of power. ), but I'd like to be able to last just a bit longer before needing to charge. Now, the problem is, I also managed to get my hands on the special back cover with the design that was given out to Google employees during Christmas 2012, and I'd hate to have to get rid of it. Could anyone with the official extended battery tell me if the stock cover will fit with the extended battery in?
Thanks!
it might, i think i accidentally put it on mine when i first got it but something didnt look right or fit right.

With the stock cover? That's great to hear!
I have that now kind of, extended battery and stock case, but broke the bottom right clip trying to get it on... It puts stress on the clips for sure, be careful.... Wouldn't wanna hurt that limited edition cover lol
Edit: took the case off that was holding the battery cover on more or less, it stays on now, the broken clip doesn't make it stick out, it's in somehow... But it bulges a little, I don't have another cam to post a pic unfortunately...

The VZW OEM EXT battery works perfect in the OB Commuter with no door. If that is something you are interesting in.
My next project is to dremel the hard plastic on the inside of the Defender to fit one of those fat third party batteries with all that supposed extra juice. I have read guides on how to do this in sub forums for other devices. If all goes well the soft rubber that goes on the outside of the Defender holds in the battery with minimal bulge. Will report back after I attempt this.

I'm not sure how people are saying the stock back fits with the verizon extended battery. I bought the extended vzw battery and backplate when i bought my phone. The original backplate partially snaps on, at the top and bottom of the phone. the sides will not snap shut due to the slight increase in battery thickness.
I also have bought an anker battery (amazon) that is rated at 2200 mah. It is identical in size to the stock 1850 battery and fits perfectly under the original backplate. the downside is that this battery is designed for the tmobile galaxysS2 and does not have the nfc chip (not an issue for me as i do not use it anyway). I will provide the link to the battery below that also includes a wall charger. For 20 dollars you get the two batteries and the wall charger. I'd say the battery life of these ankers are less than the verizon 2100 mah but certainly more than the oem 1850.
http://www.amazon.com/Anker-Batteri...&qid=1362421935&sr=8-1&keywords=anker+verizon
tl;dr: the vzw 2100mah will not fit behind stock backplate. these anker ones will and are a good deal.

The stock extended battery most certainly fits under the standard battery door. It has a tiny bulge but works fine no mod needed.

some guys says that 3800mah wont last a month and after will drop from 50% to 10% in minutes, but i think 2000mah is too little additional on 1750mah stock battery. what do you guys think?
thanks in advance
I'd buy the 2000 one and use the 1750 as a spare for heavy days. This way you don't have the bulk the 3800 brings to the Nexus. I have all three and estimate the 3800 is more like 2500 and thus not really an upgrade over the 2000 one.
I would say just get this. Can use it on new phone and other devices.

but hyperion is a good brand, and my nexus is a gsm i9250 not compatible. the 3800 battery i was asking is generic brands, i dont know if worth spend money on them
EDIT: generic batteries can hurt my phone? like explode or anything else?
i have the qcell 3850 for about 2 weeks. i love it no complaints so far
i guess definitly 3800 is the choice if you are looking for pure battery life .. you only need to see if it "fits" your hand or not .... but for the comments i see on the forum, it looks like is just a matter of getting use to it
I just recently bought the onite 3500mah battery(with NFC) for 20$. Yet to test, m out of country ATM, but there are excellent reviews on amazon for it
Also using qcell 3850 for a few weeks and been pretty happy with the performance so far. Easily go through 1 day ++ (sometimes 2 days) with moderate usage.
The extra bulk didn't bother me at all.
I researched a lot before spending money on a new battery and the conclusion I made is that is better buy a new battery instead a power pack, so I have two options the 10 dollars 3900mah battery or 18 dollars 3850mah hyperion battery. Does hyperion brand worth this price over the generic brand?

If you want batteries that list an MAH that could possibly be fake then get it. I learned my lesson ordering no name brand batteries and had a 3800mah extended from china performing worse than my stock oem 1800mah battery. If those are truely 4200 then they'll probably deteriorate extremely fast just like my generics. Stick with QCell they're still working perfect after a year for some members that have had it that long. Check the QCell thread. It's worth the money to get it instead of those since you'll end up spending money on one of those batteries and then again to replace it with a QCell lol. You can get the 4100MAH for around 20$ on Amazon. It might be only the ones with the white back covers that are 20 or black and the other is more expensive. If you do get a QCell and want to trade for a black cover let me know I have a Qcell black battery cover I'm trying to switch to a white one.

I use gravity screen on/off and am wondering it will work because I don't know since there is a bulge if the phone will lay flat or not ( I don't like to lay it on it's screen )

The phone lays flat on its back with the extended battery cover without an issue for me. It even has these little dots that stick out in the corners of where the extended battery is so it gives it a better grip when you lay it down.

Cool.. But are you referring to the case that comes with the qcell or the trexcell tpu case?
