[Q] iGo Primo, How to make it work? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Currently I am trying to install iGo Primo on my nn-rooted/stock Galaxy Note II. I've got iGo Primo v9.6.7.235654 and it installs successfully.
However, every time I try to start it, it gives me a message stating that 720x1280 resolution is not supported or no compatible skin was found.
I tried Googling to see if there are any skins that support this resolution and I found this Primo Lesscro site (sorry I'm new here and cannot post links in my thread ATM).
I tried a couple of their 1280 skins but they don't seem to work or maybe I just misplaced them... I extracted the zip archive and put the files/folders directly inside my iGo Directory.
Can anyone please help me in getting iGo to work on my Note 2 without rooting it? Where can I git a 1280 supported skin from and most importantly where should I place the skin files.

I suggest you contact the publishers. Seeing as you bought their product, they should be able to help you easily.

Isn't iGo home-brewed... don't know what u talkin about??

I think that was the point he was making - he was saying no warez on xda. Apologies to the OP if his copy is genuine but iGo was often ripped off

I am also using the black vga version. The art folder should be in the main directory of your storage card. (icons should be in the CARS folder: Storage Card\ART\CARS) Hope this helps!
cheers mate . i tried that earlier art\cars and it didnt work but i tried ART\CARS with only two cars in folder and it works fine now .
thanks
i dont know if the upper case made the difference or the fact i took 225 icons out and left only two

I don't think it was the upper case that was your problem because I just changed mine to lower case and it still worked. Maybe you had too many icons and it was taking too long to load.

Igo rescale

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825875
Could this be modified to make Igo use the full screen on the Galaxy?
No, you can't unfotunately. On winmo devices you had to modify the data.zip or data.gro, but it doesn't work on Android version. But there is a way to do it. Nav' N Go released a new data.gro that solves the problem. I've tryed it and worked great on mine. Unfortunatelly it's illegal to distribute it but a little bit of googleing or gpsunderground.com could help you.
Hope I was clear enough, and helpfull enough.

iGO8(480x272) working on HD Mini

Hi guys,
For those of you who still use iGO8 and haven't changed to Primo, I thought to share how the iGO8(480x272) looks on the HD Mini.
I've tested a few changes in the sys file until I've got iGO8 to look decent on the Mini considering the HVGA resolution and the fact that I didn't find a proper branding/data.zip out there with 320x480.
I thought 480x272 is quite close to 320x480 in landscape, the difference is only 48 pixels...
Have a look the the attached picture. You will lose 48 pixels on the bottom of the screen. If you still like it this is how you do it.
If you managed to start iGO8 go to your sys file and modify:
[rawdisplay]
class="rlandscape"
screen_x=480
screen_y=272
vga =0
highres=0
strech=1
If you didn't manage to start it, keep trying. These could be some reasons:
1. Make sure you installed it (in 2257 folder run autorun.exe)
2. Make sure you are editing the right "sys.txt" (it can be only one )
3. Make sure you have the folder ui_igo8/480_272 in you branding.zip and data.zip
If anyone knows better solutions please share.

Sorry but these ones are for Igo Primo not for Igo 8.3...
But why "You will lose 48 pixels on the bottom of the screen."? There's a Dimkavert skin for hd mini and you won't lose any pixel. You'll see the app filling all the screeen.
Try to search on Google. If you don't find it I can send you mine which is working perfectly.
Cheers.
@otsart
I've tested the Dimka skins, which I already had installed on my IGO , but still they don't go full screen. I had a look on his website and his skins are not for HVGA (320x480/480x320). They are working on your mini because you probably have the 480x320 in your branding/data.zip (which I am not able to find anymore) and dimka's skins get stretched somehow. Maybe post the [rawdisplay] section of your sys file so that we'll see how come they work on HVGA.
Many thanks!
Many thanks for the files It Works perfectly in full-screen now!
a torrent file please!
MOD EDIT: You cant ask for warez on XDA

[Q] One X and iGo MyWay

iGo MyWay navigation relies on maps and other content located on sdcard in order to operate. I currently have DHD and I was wondering if iGo will work if I switch to One X. Can anyone confirm that it works with internal memory and it doesn't seek for sd card hardware ?
You'll just need to make sure the secondary root paths in your sys.txt point correctly to the location for the content, etc Haven't got my One X yet (Tuesday - damn Easter bank holidays!) but iGo will be one of the first things I put on it once it's rooted. Can anyone who's got one already and got it rooted have a look and see what the 'name' for the 'sdcard' is (look using TC or Root Explorer).

thanks, but you haven't tested it, right? could anyone who has tried it, verify that it works?
Yes iGo works, but it's not worth the hassle.
iGo is not skinned to the high resolution and even the xda-mod for qvga 940x560 only uses a minor area of the screen. It is not programmed to adapt to other screen sizes but uses skins that are custom made for certain resolutions.
So it runs but you have a nasty black border right (180pix) and bottom (160 pix).
Which is extremely sad because iGo is the best Nav-Software on Android.

Well, that's interesting info but unfortunately I have no other choice. iGo is the only navigation which supports maps in Cyprus.
Got the One X myself...
iGo does work flawlessly, but it is very annoying to see those black borders!
I hope some skinner will make a 1280x720 skin really soon.
Wished I could do it myself, but I do not have the resources to do that (eg. how to make the .gro file, how to set correct screen locations, etc.)
iGO and HTC One X

I've got exactly this problem My HTC Desire have Navigon and IGO but when I am trying now install them to my new One X - both ask for data located on SD card.
I understand that there is a virtuall SD card on X but none of my navigators can handle it How have you guys routed to the right place?
Besides, is there are any other navigators that handles HD that One X has?
Hello, I'm using sygic aura. No problems installing, downloading maps (over wi-fi) or running. Dunno if it is running HD but if not scaled up nicely.

That's because you are trying to replace the files outlined in the OP instructions. Just install the stretched version apk of iGo but that will only give you 1280x720, not 800.

The One X's display is 1280x720.
It seems that the stretched version is optimized for the Galaxy note which comes at 1280x800. So scaling that to 720 wide will give length of ~1152.
Igo for Android maximum resolution is 800x600...or around 500000 pixels,it is impossible to expand it to ammount of pixels on One x,I used skin for Sensation(around 860x540),but it is too small for One x screen,like poststamp.So,I switched to Navigon and Ndrive.Mariupol used to make best skins for Android,but even He is blocked by the old structure of igo8(because,Android version is Amigo,which is older than Primo,which is used for iOS version).
Too sad. Unfortunately it's the only one with Cyprus maps. Does anyone know any other app that can read the same maps as iGo (.fbl)? it's my only single choice.

Android Honeycomb intoduced the ability to "Stretch" apps. It is like Zooming in.
The issue with the One X, is that the stretched iGO version available, made by member bobroberts2, is made to be stretched properly on a scale like 1280x800 (Galaxy Note). So, when it is scaled the One X's 720 wode screen, the length will come short of 1280 (~1152).

yeah of course, you need root access, then use Root Explorer (or similar app) to edit the sys.txt located in /data/data/com.navngo.javaclient/
and then you need to have this in the sys.txt, replace the old part with this:
Code:
[rawdisplay]
driver=engine
screen_xy="800_480:1280x670/720x1230"
^^ That will keep your android top bar visible, both in portrait and landscape.
If you would want fullscreen, then use this:
Code:
[rawdisplay]
driver=engine
screen_xy="800_480:1280x720/720x1280:fullscreen"
Good luck!
EDIT: above edits are for when you are running your android OS WITHOUT the 3-dot button bar.
Also, you need to make sure you made certain edits to multimode.ini (not described in my post), or perhaps you have an apk that already contains those edits to multimode.ini.

It does start up at the moment, but closes (without warning/error) in about 5 seconds every time I try to run it. Resolution shouldn't be the problem. Any idea what could be the cause?

Does anyone else find this extremely heavy? We have the best phone on the market (graphics-wise) and the bloody interface stutters. Igo is obviously obsolete.

You're kinda right, but it's the best navigation software for android hands down...
I think the problem is more in the navigation software than in the htc one x. Sygic is also not smooth at all on the htc one x. That's also the reason why I would love to see tomtom for android, but even though they promised it for this summer, I still haven't seen it.
I'm still having trouble configuring it, I tried a lot of multimode.ini / sys.txt modifications. I either get a 1280x720 not supported error, or it closes itself after a few seconds (renaming DCIM does nothing). I'm on stock ROM, not rooted, so I can only edit multimode.ini inside the data.zip archive. The .apk is supposedly made for 1280x720, but maybe I should use another one?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Still, Waze works great and so does Google Maps, and the latter uses bloody 3D Satellite imaging.
The capability exists, it's just that most big-name navigation software (Igo, Sygic, etc) haven't really rebuilt their core engines from the bottoms up in ages, and rely on decade-old technologies.

Do you have old pictures from another phone in DCIM folder? I had old photos from my old phone, until I moved them then iGO worked.
Apparently, photos with Geographic data will appear in the iGO map as POI, so that might be the problem.
