Now that we have 4.1.2 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

How do you like 4.1.2 ? I like it, S Note opens way faster. The new widget for S Note is amazing. The new notification drop down bar settings, it's nice we can change them now, the toggle buttons that is. Everything seems good. The way the Samsung keyboard works better as well.
The only thing I'm worried about is battery drain that allot of people get with this update. Like the S3, the international Note 2 and other carriers that already got this update all reported battery drain much faster then before the update.
What do you think?

Now that you have LTE you "will" have more battery drain. Ask anyone that has had LTE on another carrier.

Battery is same, if not better (disabled LTE, since its not available in my area yet). I do realize that the smart stay notification does not turn off (disabled that feature 'till another update comes). The boot animation sucks. I hear the normal T-Mobile ringtone now instead of the unique tone observed in the older versions.

4.1.2 broke tethering on t-mobile. I went back to 4.1.1 and I can live with just HSPA+

Update?

It seems like all the other major GS3 carriers have gotten updates which alter the google search function, but they all also got new radio/modem updates.
I wouldnt mind a radio update. Any thoughts/ideas when and if tmobile will get a similar update?

So I think its pretty obvious we will get an update to strip the search funcationality, but i wonder why the other carriers did it so fast (considering the issues with apple now) and Tmobile gets away with being allowed to wait
I'm not complaining I like everything the way it is right now. I like the search bar and am not hoping for an update to remove it. The brightness thing doesn't bother me that much as I keep it at almost max most of the time.
Some updates I do want to see though are of course Jellybean, and maybe if it's possible an update to improve 4G and WiFi connections.

And will the same thing happen when the official jellly bean comes out for the s three?

When will sprint get Jelly Bean update for GS3?

Just wondering when sprint is going to push the Jelly Bean update to the GS3. I have a friend who got it a couple weeks ago on T-Mobile. Also anybody in the STL area know when we're going to get LTE from Sprint. And how to change Mobile Network to LTE. I have it set to CDMA/LTE I guess that if it's on LTE it will say 4G instead of 3G?

From what I'm seeing from the developers, the Sprint Samsung Galaxy s3 will have a functional (not official) jelly bean rom very soon. In fact, it seems they are very very close. The only things that are not working yet are screen rotation, mms, and some browser issues. Seeing how quickly every other issue has been resolved, I wouldn't be surprised to see a working jb rom this week.

Turned off diagnostics how does that affect battery life? And that usage was on 4g just got home and turned on WiFi. GPS is always off. Anything else?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Turning GPS and WIFI off makes no difference. Those draw no power unless they're in use. WIFI only passively looks for a signal when it's on (every 30 seconds and gps is only active if an app uses it. Juice Defender will cause your battery to drain faster too.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
My battery life takes a dive when leaving GPS on all the time I don't know if it has something to do with jelly bean or not? It also keeps the phone awake, thus definitely using more battery.

So many devs would like to have a talk with you...
T-Mobile Galaxy S 3, stock and rooted.
Actually the 4G radio uses more battery than wifi. Wifi can turn itself off after inactivity, having apps syncing all the time if you have it on will drain battery immensely. Mainly because it's suppose to be sleeping yet it still running and working and those apps will have a great time doing that. also depends how long you had phone, I have read batteries tend to drain faster after about 5 to 6 months of use.

Ever since Jelly Bean (cm or tw) battery life just isn't what it was on ics I was pulling 20 hour runs with 4 hours of screen time with ics, now I can barely get 9-10 hours with 2 hours of screen time.. It's almost like I'm afraid to use my phone because it'll die.. Very frustrating ik. Hopefully Google addresses this issue in android 4.3 (presumably key lime pie)
Until then, turn off Google Now, and maybe try to pinpoint some random app possibly causing wake locks and not letting the phone sleep properly (with the use of this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809 )
Also, I highly recommend checking out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1969741

Check the battery stats for "gpsd". Mine started draining after updating to 4.1.2. It appears (for me at least) that the Samsung "find-your-phone-if someone-steels-it" was behaving badly.
If this is the case for you. Switch the service/function of and notify Samsung.
How many hours do you get when your battery is draining fast?
My stock phone started to drain fast as well. Within 6 hours unplugged I see myself having only 60 percent remaining with barely an hour screen on time. I tried to narrow it down to a rogue app but it seems the OTA was more plausable and easier to blame lol
Now back to using Jedi again.

I got an update when I bought my note 2 yesterday it was about 8.34 mb in size does anyone know what that might be? An lte enabling update?

Probably the uvall4 update. It primarily features the kernel fix to eliminate the ExynosAbuse hole. if you are on uvalk8 presently that is what it is.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement

Did it prompt your phone to boot into the factory recovery and install the update? Or did it have an icon in your notification bar with the Samsung Apps logo?

I highly doubt T-Mobile would update your phone to enable LTE when LTE is only completed in two cities (Las Vegas and Kansas City). I bet it was the UVALL4 update.
Post a screen shot of which build your own. I highly doubt its lte. Its prolly the multiview update since you said you got the phone the day before.
Post a screenie

The date on the phone said it was made on the 3rd of jan. It had multi window and the exynos patch out of box.

So tell us what the build number is dude. You've already been asked like three times. Post a screenshot. It's not hard to do.
How many new threads are you going to start for no reason? Every thread you start has 10 others on the same subject. Search a little and ask in a thread thats already covering your problem.

I did no one has said anything about this mysterious update. U should try searching to before u blab.

Really dude? This is not a "mysterious update". It's the UVALL4 update that everyone has had for almost 2 months now. Had you actually searched the thread you would know this. You really thought you had LTE with 13Mbps down? Hahahahaah!

I never said I had lte I said I had better upload and this phone had the ul4 update the multi and the exynos update out of box. So yea this is a mysterious update and its not even on tmobiles site. And it was aon ul4 before the update dude don't blab if you don't know the facts.

How about you get your facts straight dude because you obviously don't know what you're talking about. The update before UVALL4 did not contain the exynos security fix. And it is NOT a mysterious update. Again, search before posting false statements.
Here's proof http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-4962
Get your facts strait dude and read.IT CAME WITH UL4 HOW IN THE WORLD CAN IT BE THE SAME UPDATE? ?
