It seems like all the other major GS3 carriers have gotten updates which alter the google search function, but they all also got new radio/modem updates.
I wouldnt mind a radio update. Any thoughts/ideas when and if tmobile will get a similar update?
Hopefully when the really important updates come along like jb we're not last in line as well.

So I think its pretty obvious we will get an update to strip the search funcationality, but i wonder why the other carriers did it so fast (considering the issues with apple now) and Tmobile gets away with being allowed to wait
I'm not complaining I like everything the way it is right now. I like the search bar and am not hoping for an update to remove it. The brightness thing doesn't bother me that much as I keep it at almost max most of the time.
Some updates I do want to see though are of course Jellybean, and maybe if it's possible an update to improve 4G and WiFi connections.

I'm making this thread to see if people think we will get the new Android 4.2 on the sprint S3. I hope we do. I know we just got 4.1 but with all this talk about 4.2 I am already getting anxious. Lol

It'll happen, but it'll definitely be on AOSP first before you see it on tw roms. AOSP already has 4.1.2, like AOKP roms.

Its only required to get updates for 18 months after launch date. Considering sprints track record, we'll probably get an update right before that 18 month period and that'll be it. They did surprise me with this update however. Very timely and first of the US carriers. Hopefully they keep this kind of support up.

Considering that 4.2 is just an update to jelly bean and not the next version (key lime pie or whatever they end up calling it), I think we will get an official update. Sprint seemed to get some good PR out of being the first to release JB, so hopefully they'll continue the practice.

Doubt "one day later" is really "been out much longer than", but yeah I wanna ***** and whine, too. I was hoping since the Intl. version had been out "much longer than" the TMO version, that we'd get the latest and greatest firmware with it included. Major let down on that front, but the phone kicks ass regardless. At least, this is good news, because it means our phones won't take much longer to get updated...hopefully!
You could also complain "everyone else sells accessories for the Note 2 except TMO" which is irritating, by the way (I've done my own *****ing and whining about that, too)

No you do t have to make a new page. They have a page where you go on THEIR support google plus page and post requests and comments and withon a couple minutes they post back a reply. I did it a couple days ago with a couple other guys and later that night we got our factory image. The worst that can happen is we waste our time and they just dont do anything. Right now only AOSP based Roms are on 4.2.2 for our phone. Some people like Touchwiz Roms better. You don't have to unroot. When OTA drops you can just flash a rooted version of the OTA update or other OTA based TW Roms when they update.

Cool. But not everybody is a flashaholic and wants to install custom roms every minute to see what works and what doesn't or what's better on battery. I don't flash roms and haven't done so since the OG Epic with the keyboard.. I don't find it necessary as it was years ago. I like stock rooted and being able to take OTA updates.

I love my Note 2, but this is why my next phone will likely be a Nexus. For a lot of people, having the most up to date OS is not that important, but I like have the latest and greatest. I do like to flash ROMs and do so often, but sometimes I don't want to have to do that.

maybe when they have a nexus with a 5.5 inch screen.
Incremental updates are overrated and IMO I feel I ain't missing much now.. If so Ill just flash an aosp rom with 4.2.2. to satisfy the feeling of being left out.

That's why I only buy Asus tablets!! They are a superb manufacturer at releasing updates! It's been on my Asus Infinity for a while now!!
SwiftKey'ed from my White Sprint Note 2 using XDA Premium
I just got the new update an hour ago and wanted to share my thoughts because I know there's still a lot of people wondering what it fixes. So far I've noticed:
- Phone in general feels much much quicker.
- gallery no longer lags.
- switching from wifi to 4g o longer lags the phone
- camera is improved. Still slight shutter delay but I'm thinking it must jus be how it works since it's taking such high quality pics.
-updating apps in the play store no longer makes the phone lag.
-one of my favorite things is the home button response speed is really fast now(yes svoice home button is disabled) I noticed the home button used to lag sometimes. Much faster now.
- I noticed some buttons in the camera and gallery are different and have some extras. Haven't had much of a look yet.
-it appears all my apps are on the SD card now.
I can't comment on battery life or anything else yet but I'll keep an eye on it tonight.

I think t-mobile gets it in the next day or so. Verizon didn't release it through ota. I kept checking for software upgrades to and nothing. I downloaded kies on my laptop and plugged my phone into it and it worked.

Dude, you're in the wrong forum.
You have the Verizon S4. This is the T Mobile Forum.
You're working with a different radio and everything. The battery results would be non comparable.

From what I've heard though and idk if t-mobile is doing this but Verizon locked the Bootloader so apparently you lose root and can never root again which is fine for me cuz i dont even know how to root and see no reason to now.

Hello, I'm XDA. We clearly haven't met.
Can't ever root again......not if Samsung had the NSA itself encrypting the bootloader.
Also, the locked bootloader is only a requirment to run Samsung's Knox protection sofware, which is only really relevant for business use.

Excited to see if this fixes the slight but noticable lag on the keyboard predictions.

Just waiting for the update, I dont mind the locked bootloader as im not going to root this device anytime soon mate. However I was voing to root so I can use the apps2sd feature but since I heard about the update, root not needed. Till the galaxy s4 no longer runs the latest version of android then I will root. Tmobile your always last to do anything hurry it up will ya.
