I guess anyone that had high hopes we were getting it soon should reconsider lowering their hopes. And to top it off we don't know how long Sprint will take once it is out so it might be a even a longer wait! :banghead:

Cool. But not everybody is a flashaholic and wants to install custom roms every minute to see what works and what doesn't or what's better on battery. I don't flash roms and haven't done so since the OG Epic with the keyboard.. I don't find it necessary as it was years ago. I like stock rooted and being able to take OTA updates.

I love my Note 2, but this is why my next phone will likely be a Nexus. For a lot of people, having the most up to date OS is not that important, but I like have the latest and greatest. I do like to flash ROMs and do so often, but sometimes I don't want to have to do that.

Has anybody heard of this? I did a quick lazy glance here and didn't see it posted so I thought I would. Looks pretty amazing with new features and improving Gnow and improved battery life for Android users. Of course the main concern is in order for us to experience we might have to switch phones or of course wait on our devs to do their amazing work. Thoughts??

Your point? We all have to move on at some point. By the time this phone gets 4.2 we'll have some really amazing devices on the market that will make this phone seem like it was from the stone age. Just like this phone makes that HD2 seem like its from the stone age. Idk how people are still using that thing. I was thinking.. I'm sure that the galaxy Nexus is a shoe in to get 4.2 and if it can handle the software I am sure that this phone can too!.. It's unlike that tmobile will put in the resources to update this phone after JB but it might be a slim possibility.. Especially since we will have the option whether or not to have OEM skins

Officially I don't think this phone is getting past ICS. I have high doubts about an official TW JB update for it. Only the international GSII has been officially confirmed. As we all know that phone and every other GSII has the exynos SoC so I wouldn't doubt the others can get it easily. But since we have the s3.. idk.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
And I just wanna state that it's obvious that Google is listening to what people want and trying to add it to software updates! We have all been talking about how nice it would be if we had a choice of AOSP or OEM.. And voila! Google goes ahead and appears to be implementing it!.. This is totally opposite of other mobile operating systems (not naming names) that always hold back the features... This is why I will probably stay loyal to android for a long time!

Its only required to get updates for 18 months after launch date. Considering sprints track record, we'll probably get an update right before that 18 month period and that'll be it. They did surprise me with this update however. Very timely and first of the US carriers. Hopefully they keep this kind of support up.

Doubt "one day later" is really "been out much longer than", but yeah I wanna ***** and whine, too. I was hoping since the Intl. version had been out "much longer than" the TMO version, that we'd get the latest and greatest firmware with it included. Major let down on that front, but the phone kicks ass regardless. At least, this is good news, because it means our phones won't take much longer to get updated...hopefully!
You could also complain "everyone else sells accessories for the Note 2 except TMO" which is irritating, by the way (I've done my own *****ing and whining about that, too)

Right now only AOSP based Roms are on 4.2.2 for our phone. Some people like Touchwiz Roms better. You don't have to unroot. When OTA drops you can just flash a rooted version of the OTA update or other OTA based TW Roms when they update.

Is your Samsung contact actually from Samsung or just a 3rd party marketing partner like MarketStar or Marketsource?
MarketStar and Marketsource folks don't know squat.
This will be validated if we start seeing rdfs drop in the next couple of days as this has always been the cycle in the past.

All I know is that my note 2 is rooted but my wife's s3 is not and I still find myself using her phone all the time. It's a great phone and if it's updated to 4.2.2 that will definitely hold her off till her upgrade.
And like someone said, Sprint is getting better with updates, probably the best from the 4 major companies.

These samsung reps that travel from store to store know what they are talking about. I've gotten early ota's from them in the past.

Should prove to be interesting.

was doing a Lil reading on the Interweb, seen a few post about the Galaxy note 2 possibly skipping 4.2 update and going straight to 4.3. It's suggested that the update might come out sometime in October. Not getting my hopes up it is the interweb lol. Anybody know what are some of the upgrades or tweaks they changed from 4.1 to 4.3

Saw something of that likes as well. I'm sure people will lecture me for saying this but I'm saying it anyway.
"I'm getting tired of waiting...."
I'm a very patient person and have always experienced this anticipation towards each update I've ever received since cupcake. Oh well

My ex gfs n4 is on 4.3, my daughter's tab 7-2 is on 4.2, and my own note 2, and note 10 are on 4.1 . Dammit, I buy all the devices, why are my own the farthest back?

FYI October date if for international Touchwiz phones, not US carriers. Will be months later before US carriers accept what Sammy gives them, adds their files and then decides when it is a good time to push it.
To add to that^, I have a Galaxy S4, that I'm selling, but every other major carrier in the US, Canada, and really much of the world, has received an update so you can move apps to the SD card months ago.
T-Mobile? Not a single word about it.
It will be months after international gets 4.3 for the other 3 major carriers in the US. And likely months after that that T-Mobile sends it out.
The fragmentation is alleviated if you go custom roms

Im with you that's why I stick to stock roms but tweak them to what I want, tired of flashing different roms to find one that is close to what I want but has extra crap I don't want either broken or its just like having the boatware the carrier installs. Yes the Developers do a great job here at xda over the cell phone carriers. I haven't found one that fits what I want( mostly get rid of bloatware and a few tweaks I like) and one thing is I don't complain and do give thanks, cause I don't develop.
To all you developers who read this you do amazing work. I'm not putting you down, I'm a select few who likes to take your mods and add them to my stock rom that's all
