When will sprint get Jelly Bean update for GS3? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Just wondering when sprint is going to push the Jelly Bean update to the GS3. I have a friend who got it a couple weeks ago on T-Mobile. Also anybody in the STL area know when we're going to get LTE from Sprint. And how to change Mobile Network to LTE. I have it set to CDMA/LTE I guess that if it's on LTE it will say 4G instead of 3G?

Rumors say Q4/early 2013 for jelly bean
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2

To my knowledge no galaxy s3 has gotten the official jelly bean update, i don't think the international had gotten it, and i know no US variation has gotten the official update.
Everything that's it had been out are leaks or ports.

Hmm when is the s4 coming out?

That is a plausible answer

I have come to the SIII from an EVO 3D. With all of this talk about when jellybean will come out reminds me of ics for the 3d. So knowing sprint and how history repeats itself, get comfortable folks. It will a while. Not being pessimistic, just realistic to sprints delay habits. Took them greater than 8 months for ics once promised.

from what i read it will not resemble the smoothness the gnex jellybean has and look like there's not to much to be excited about. Appy geek app for all the info and video of the official jb I'm not impressed.

You probably have few media files.Put some avi,mkv,mp3,ogg files and you most likely will.
Google "Ics Media Scanner" and see how many people have this problem, not just on our s3 but on every android phone running ics.
Oh and consider yourself lucky, you might not have it now but but it doesnt mean you want get it later.

Yeah i know i got one, lol. That was short compared to og Epic which took almost 2 years to update to gb and its still on gb.
I think i like my Epic Touch little more than my S3 but its crippled because my son threw it in the toilet,so i let him have it,it just needs to be pluged in but everything still works.

From what I'm seeing from the developers, the Sprint Samsung Galaxy s3 will have a functional (not official) jelly bean rom very soon. In fact, it seems they are very very close. The only things that are not working yet are screen rotation, mms, and some browser issues. Seeing how quickly every other issue has been resolved, I wouldn't be surprised to see a working jb rom this week.

Not saying your point isn't valid but you don't do the argument any favors with such hyperbole.

The code differences between jb and ics are much smaller than gb to ics. They'd better have JB out before end of year. No excuse otherwise

Thanks for the answer guys. Not looking for a rom really since I haven't rooted my S3, yet... When I for my OG Evo I immediately rooted and flashed. It really needed to run better though. I stock sense for the OG Evo sacked. It was laggy and such. But so far. My S3 has been running like a top. Don't see a reason to root and flash, flash yet..... Although being able to tether for free would come in handy. BTW answered the LTE part of my initial question. No news on that one either huh?

Nexus S ICS envy..

Oh my epic has been so jealous. The other day I got a nexus s 4g for my gf and put ics on it. Man I cant stop using her phone and she does not understand what she has in her hand. Using this makes you see how much touchwiz sucks and there is no need for it anymore.
If Google was not whoring itself to anybody and had standards we would probably all have this already.

The worst part is Google has the nexus but by the time we get if we do it will be September. What's even the point of making ics look the way it does if nobody will see it. When apple has an is update the world knows. Google I would say either does not care or handles it in the worst way.
Average consumer will use android and because of all the crap that the carrier and handset makers do they leave with a bad impression. Its just sad its like Google is its on worst enemy.

Android 4.2

Its only required to get updates for 18 months after launch date. Considering sprints track record, we'll probably get an update right before that 18 month period and that'll be it. They did surprise me with this update however. Very timely and first of the US carriers. Hopefully they keep this kind of support up.

Well, it's goodbye!!!

With a heavy heart I am here to confess I am leaving the world of Vivow... :crying: The waiting game for updates and empty promises from HTC and Verizon both, I have made this decision to sell my Incredible 2 and never look back. With that said, I am also saying farewell to HTC completely. Not enough backing of their current lineup in my opinion. I shouldn't have to upgrade to the latest phone just to get the new build of Sense or latest build of Android. I should also not have to depend on community developers to get what I want. Oh well, it's time to cut the strings.
Dev's.. from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you all for giving us your personal time and effort into developing fun, useful, and up-to-date roms that just make us flash-aholics happy!! You will never be forgotten!!

Ah.. those issues if I remember were ROM related.. The phone has always been 100% using stock or CM7/9 ... but it's very picky about what other roms I use.. very strange device I have.. but un-rooted and stock it will be good as new.. cosmetically just a few blemishes and only one 1/4" scratch on the screen... not bad for having it and using it almost non-stop for almost 2 years now.. I have it on eBay but I'm thinking of pulling it.. almost 40 views already and 3 watchers.. unless that grows I'll probably yank it.. maybe.. I don't know..
Any thoughts on what you are hoping to get out of it?

Right now only AOSP based Roms are on 4.2.2 for our phone. Some people like Touchwiz Roms better. You don't have to unroot. When OTA drops you can just flash a rooted version of the OTA update or other OTA based TW Roms when they update.

Cool. But not everybody is a flashaholic and wants to install custom roms every minute to see what works and what doesn't or what's better on battery. I don't flash roms and haven't done so since the OG Epic with the keyboard.. I don't find it necessary as it was years ago. I like stock rooted and being able to take OTA updates.

Well they said postponed. I'm not sure but the note 3 will be out what Oct or Nov? I doubt it will take that long. Hope so anyway.

So we're getting the new TW with 4.22 down the line?
Sent from my SPH-L900
Yep
I think IMO we might see it in about a month or two. At least I hope Sprint is real good about putting out the updates and from what I heard at work they are working on it for the Note 2 and the S3

Sprint and samsung do a very good job with phone updates imo. It could always be worse, remember the g2x situation lol.

i might be new to this site, but i'm not new to these devices and I agree...no flashaholic here. Its pointless to keep going around and round the rom tree when something new is going to come out next year and i'll be switiching my device again.

I love my Note 2, but this is why my next phone will likely be a Nexus. For a lot of people, having the most up to date OS is not that important, but I like have the latest and greatest. I do like to flash ROMs and do so often, but sometimes I don't want to have to do that.

maybe when they have a nexus with a 5.5 inch screen.
Incremental updates are overrated and IMO I feel I ain't missing much now.. If so Ill just flash an aosp rom with 4.2.2. to satisfy the feeling of being left out.
