T-Mobile LTE APN works on Solavei! - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

just alter the stock t-mobile APN name
APN
fast.t-mobile.com
THIS ONLY WORKS WITH THE NEW MODEM THAT WAS RELEASE ON 3.18.2013
i don't know if this is giving a faster speed than my Solavei APN. but i will test it for the rest of the day and let you know what i notice.

Is there a way to activate the LTE option in the network settings? I've seen my phone pop up with an LTE/wcdma/gsm option before a while back.
I know ATT has a number you dial

I just tried this on TMO straight talk and it won't let me connect if I use that apn. Anyone else on straight talk have any luck?

Q - Solavei and Straight-Talk are both just authorized roaming carriers that piggy-back on the Tmobile network... so as long as Tmo has cut-in LTE in your area.. is there any reason why you wouldnt get LTE coverage on them?

It seems to be looking that way, I'm just not sure if the fast.t-mobile.com apn is required for LTE or not. I get no data when I try to switch to it.

The t mobile apn is working on my phone but I can't send mms. I m going to add the solavei mmsc setting to tmobile later and try it
While out last nite I got great speeds using the old modem on my solavei apn
And I got equal result with the new modem and the same apn and the new tmobile one
However, I did on one of my tests with the fast.t-mobile setting get an instant 14mbps. I spend a good 80mb on speed tests lol
I'm in Los Angeles. I move all around from the Valley to long Beach. My service is consistently good.
I'm sticking with the new modem and my solavei apn for now because I use mms for work

I believe straight talk offers service from both AT&T and T-Mobile. When you purchased your SIM, if you chose the option for T-Mobile, the new apn should work. Do you recall who's service you chose?

Anyway to get Solavei without doing all that multi level marketing? I'm on simple mobile now, but have heard Solavei allows conditional call forwarding and data cap is higher than simple mobile.

Oh I definitely have a tmobile sim. The straight talk sim never worked with the stock tmobile apn. Maybe it's just a difference between straight talk and other MVNOs.

I think where you change the apn, you will need to change the "MMSC" to "http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc". you will find that exactly on the original epc.tmobile.com apn. This is only if you are using t-mobile, if not, then you might need to do the same thing from the original apn.

Whichever you choose just use this in the mmsc field

Your going to have to use the solavei apn so mms will work. The new tmobile apn works fot solavei if your browsing the internet or just sending text without pics.

Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app

Changing to this APN from the others result in no speed change for me (as expected)
What does seem better is how fast the speed ramps up to 15mbps (which is the speed Solavei as a MVNO is throttled to)
I don't use MMS (I purely use google voice for SMS)

I read it wrong.
The Verizon note 2 supports gsm bands for international (an maybe sone day domestic) roaming. Getting the radio/modem to fly however would likely be a challenge.
I am pretty sure it doesn't go the other way. There are a couple of folks who swear that the hardware is totally identical between the US carriers Note2 devices.
I can't say I agree but im not in a position to be absolutely certain.

UPDATE: I called straight talk. They reset my internet settings on the account. They called it a 'congestion'. Either that or they were randomly throttling people to see if they notice. Anyway she did that then I rebooted my phone and get a solid 6mbps download connection and about 1 up. So that seems to have fixed the problem! They were pretty easy to deal with.

Are you sure you're using the T-Mobile LTE APN? I'm pretty sure the standard connectivity speed for T-Mobile is 14 Mbps. Any incorrect or unknown APN will also be routed directly to the network's default, so it would help to know exactly which setting you are using.
Thanks!

Unfortunately that's just Dual HSPA+
You will see "4G LTE" instead of just "4G" on the top of your notification when it's enabled in your area. I'm keeping my fingers crossed also. When LTE is working you will also see a big difference with your upload speed as well.

[Q] APN Settings Or Importer??

Can I get someone to list them for me and how do I set the IPv6 apn.
Plus since I'm on PostPaid I read that I could use MetroPCS apn's, so a list of those please. Thanks
I normally never worry about apn's cause they're automatically restored but I forgot about specifically reading in Skynote thread to backup apn's and forgot.

Yea I downloaded and used HiAPN, really wished I would've backed up my APN's from SkyNote RC9.1 cause I noticed I had a IPv6 LTE APN
I created a MetroPCS APN To tinker around with when I'm in low T-Mobile Coverage Zones that have higher MetroPCS Coverages. Shall be interesting, I was connected to it all night last night using it fine no problems.

I just used this link to correct my APN settings on my T-Mobile Note 2
http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-6763
Or you can just create a new APN.
Just like to add, I was in a no coverage zone I go to a lot and there for half the day switched from the T-Mobile APN getting kbps like back and forth between edge and gprs and decided to try and switch to the MetroPCS APN I manually added and was instantly get 4G and HSPA or lot LTE speeds between 3mbps to 7 and 10 constantly.
