Ok so here is my noobish question.
When flashing themes through recovery, do I have to revert to my nandroid backup every time I want to switch themes, or can I just flash one theme on top of the other?
Dont know if this impacts the answer, but im running frosty 11.6.
Thanks in advance

Flash the themes over each other with just wiping cache and dalvik. If you come across any issues, dirty flash the ROM you're running to revert back to stock theme.

i updated my phone from gingerbread to ice cream sandwich. i did a nandroid backup for the gingerbread. if i decided to go back to gingerbread, i just gotta go into recovery and do a restore? or do i gotta reset wipe factory again and wipe data, cache dalvik?
I flash dark side super wipe before restoring

Before flashing anything even if it's nandroid, it is always best to wipe it clean.

And flash proper radio before restoring, if necessary
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
The recovery restore doesn't reflash my old radio and kernal? Cuz I'm not even sure what radio it had. So I pretty much need to do all the steps again like I'm flashing a new but use the the restore in place of flashing new rom.

The recovery restores everything (including kernel) but not the radio. I have switched back and forth between ics and gb a few times without ever wiping before a restore and never had a problem. I would argue its not necessary but certainly doesn't hurt.
So basically I was having issues with my phone and ended up getting a warranty replacement. So b4 I sent my old one back I needed to revert it back to stock. I found a flashable zip from zedomax that returned the stock kernel, recovery, and ROM. Only thing it was 2.3.5 gingerbread. I was running infamous 3.1 and did darkside super wipe and cache., well after flashing the zip I got the stock recovery, and part of stock boot animation, well after the stock boot animation then came the infamous animation then nothing. It wouldn't boot up past that.,I ended up using Odin and fixing it and converted stock that way. My question is... Is there a special method going from ics to gb?

Yeah just use odin or a flashable zip to return to stock no big deal
I know how to Odin and get stock...I'm asking if there's anything special to go from an ics ROM to a GB ROM? BC when I did it I soft bricked, using all the darkside
Wipes.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
And btw I know the zip wasn't corrupt BC I had used it b4 when I did an exchange when I was running GB already.

I have flashed from GB to ICS back and forth a few times never really had an issue like that the only real issue I have ever had was a few apps force closing but a quick wipe of the cache took care of that issue

don't use the CWM flashable zips. if you do you should flash the rom and kernel too? you probably did but sometimes it doesn't work correctly. I would suggest flashing via odin to get to stock then wipe data/factory reset through stock recovery. that is the cleanest method to get to stock. the CWM flashing to zip sometimes leave stuff behind from earlier flashes.
Well as a few days after flashing wicked rom, I keep getting random HOT boots, no boot animation, and reboots behave the same as hot boots, no animation, just black screen then its on. I reflashed rom, kernel, but did not wipe yet. I may soon, but ill wait until I get a better answer. Also I did not overclock or undervolt.

Sounds like a kernel issue. Have you tried using an alternate kernel? And always wipe cache and dalvik cache after flashing a kernel

What rom did you have before? You're saying that you didn't wipe the first time you flashed Wicked? Always wipe before reporting issues that nobody else is reporting. More than likely that is your reason.
Did you flash a different kernel? If so, did you wipe both caches before flashing?

Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
If you do not see that it means you are on an AOSP type Rom. Your not on a Touchwiz type rom. Your going to have to create a nandroid backup of what your on right now if you wish to stay with that rom. Then your going to have to do a clean flash of a TW rom whichever you prefer I recommend either Freeza's Stock rooted MD4 or The People's ROM TPR. Once your on a touchwiz rom you can update your profile and prl with Sprint and you should be ok. Then you can simply restore your nandroid if you wish to go back

No that is a nandroid. So yes go download a TW rom, go into recovery Wipe cache wipe dalvik and do factory reset. Then flash the TW rom. Just boot it up log into Google you don't have to set it all up or anything so don't go through the whole restore process. Then update profile and prl and while your there it won't hurt to key this ##72786# into your dialer . Then reboot into recovery make a nandroid of that for future use if need be. Do factory reset again and restore your previous nandroid.

I believe on cspire you dial *611 and speak with a Rep, or Technical Support. They will reprovison it for you. As far as I know you cannot do it online. Not sure about doing it through the Device itself. The codes are most likely different.
EDIT: Did a search and came up with this THREAD FOR SGS3 CSPIRE. They cover a similar issue in several posts.
Yeah because cspire is totally OK with me rooting their phone and changing their rom

IDK they're policy, but I doubt it. As long as you're on a TW Rom they should not be able to tell unless you tell them.
i think i need to instal a cspire radio/modem

Before you go flashing Radios / Modems. Make very certain you have the correct one. Did you call cspire, to see if they could resolve the issue?

So ive seen that most wipe instructions dont include wiping system. Is that somethingn you should keep intact when flashing roms for the sgs3? Cause on my other phones ive had it was always recommended to wipe system... couldbthat be the issue if that was the case I wonder?
