A friend of a friend wants me to pick out a phone for them to use on Cricket.
I googled and found the Galaxy Nexus to be in his budget and it sounds like this CDMA version can be flashed to Cricket.
Does anyone know if there are CM10.1 or AOKP type ROM's that can be flashed for a Galaxy Nexus on Cricket?
Or if all this is a bad idea and there is a better phone for under $225 [used]?

I wont opinion on whether or not the CDMA variant will work on Cricket but find out the original carrier (Sprint or VZ) and look there.
I have a Verizon phone i fully flashed to cricket. Google the instructions, basically you flash the sprint radio then you can use any toroplus ROM that comes with CDMA tools. I got the instructions from cricketusers.com and the script to change the values i got from the via chip thread here. I'm on dho commotio but like i said any toroplus (sprint) ROM will do.

You have a GSM version
If you don't know you should be flashing roms
Frankly, political correctness and neutrality is all nice, but at this point calling the Verizon Galaxy Nexus "CDMA Galaxy Nexus" is more confusing than useful.
The only way you can have a CDMA version is if you have a phone which has "Verizon" written on its rear battery-cover.
So quick steps to identify GSM model: Look for the Verizon-logo. If it isn't there, you have a real, proper GSM phone.
You've got a few posts and have even helped out some people. How is it that you can't figure out which type of phone you have?
Settings->about phone should be your starting place here.
If you bought it in Australia, it is GSM. Australia hasn't had a CDMA network for a long while.
Also to double check, go into settings -> about phone and build number? See if it is maguro (GSM) or toro (CDMA). I have AOKP flashed already so this may be slightly different. You can always download Android System info from the market
i wanted people To see it work but there is still more to the puzzle like data I'm sure this was not the only way to write a prl to the phone and can't wait to get my hands on another one as the one I had was a customers dat had took it to 3 cricket store already and was giving the run around about how its impossible to flash it took all of a hour to get it talk and text flash with a little more time I'm sure I could have got data
Could one potentially use part of this to safely change their PRL only? i.e. putting a corporate PRL on the phone?
EDIT: It seems to have worked.
Yes You can use this To put any prl You want even tho u rename it test it still Will show the verison in about

Whoa, what happened to your original post?
So even though this is a 4g lte phone, it is able to be flashed to metropcs? Currently i have the evo 3d flashed to metro and I wanted to get the galaxy nexus. But I wasn't sure if the sprint version could be flashed or not.

If i was to buy a sprint galaxy nexus and go to any metropcs, they would be able to flash it and get talk and text with their program of houdini? or you have to use a different program in order to flash it?
As of right now no houdini Will not work You can check there website tho

Metro PC's is a joke
You are better off looking on Craigslist find someone who has a store (preferably)
Why?
Because even in the event they do do it you will probably only get talk and text.Usually no mms or web
An independent retailer will most likely get the job done better.

Any way to repost the tutorial for us who want to just change the PRL?

How would you get the ESN into MetroPCS's inventory if there's NO MORE Houdini and being that it's a ESN beginning with 99XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX?
PM if needed! Thanks!
Sph-L700 sprint galaxy nexus
No one can flash this at all. Is there/Will there be software? So that it can be flashed to cricket. This is what I wanted. Now I guess I will put the phone on craigslist. Any insight.
What about another phone similar like nexus s
I have been kicking myself for a week now trying to get a Nexus on cricket and I have been getting nowhere. Its their international phone and it works when I put a sim card in it from AT&T and T-Mobile but no such luck with Cricket.
Sorry about the hi jack. But the site video said if I can't find the exact answer that I'm looking for I should find one close to it and post it in there.
The phone is mod GT: i9020T Google Nexus S
Thanks in advance.
You can only flash a CDMA phone to Cricket or MetroPCS the i9050T is a GSM phone.. if it uses a sim card it wont work...
i got my Gnex 32g from sprint 2 weeks ago but my build is toro everythg on here for sprint is toroplus. So whats the deal-e-o with tht? any insight will be great. im not having any problems. when i flash any sprint rom it says toroplus just like it should just wondering why its toro not toroplus...THANKS
Toro is Verizon.
Toroplus is Sprint.
You mean what it says in fastboot? Mine says that too, ignore it.

I remember hearing this same problem before take it back to sprint and attempt to explain to them somethings wrong.

It really doesn't affect anything. All three I've had (first two were duds, no big deal) all said Toro in fastboot and I never had an issue with flashing, unlocking, rooting, using, etc. Besides the out of box hardware failure, of course.

Hi
I am planning to pay CDMA Galaxy Nexus to flash it to anther career
so is there any difference between Sprint and Verizon devices ?
Which one you suggest me to buy it ?
Which have more roms ?
When official 4.2 will launch for them ?
Thank you
Yea there is a difference. Vzw gnex has way more ROMs

I have the gnex on Verizon and my girl has gnex on sprint both use eclipse ROM and both are buttery smooth only difference I can tell is sprint is cheaper but Verizon is faster so i think I would go with carrier preference. Don't know what ROMs you are planning on running but I would just make sure you get toro plus ROMs for sprint and toro for Verizon.

Verizon is much faster (in my area anyway) and seem to have a better selection of ROMs. The extra cost for them is worth it if youre a regular data user
It seems everyone has overlooked the key details of the question. To the OP, you'd probably be best off getting the VZW version. Hardwarewise, at least the sim is removable. That being said, you'd be best served, given your ambitions, of not running a custom rom unless you are comfortable with the possibility of rom updates causing you a bit more work if you ever choose to flash them and they break connectivity with your chosen carrier. That, and be aware that your phone will be limited to 3G.

I am looking at buying a "Sprint" Galaxy Nexus and I want to use it with Verizon.
Will I have an issue with 4G if I do this?
Eventually I'm going to put Ubuntus image on it and want to make sure the hardware will work with Verizon totally so I can submit bugs and such.
Thanks
Not sure of the specs on both I know there are some differences in both. But I do know you gotta make it quick because unlocking phones will be illegal on this coming Sunday
Re: [Q] Sprint -> Verizon
No, it won't work. The hardware is different.

Why don't u just get a Verizon gnex and use it with Verizon.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
OK thanks for the information. I'll just stick with the Verizon model then.
I am going to use the Ubuntu OS coming out for them next month, and this is the prototype phone they will use.
Re: [Q] Sprint -> Verizon
Years back, verizon allowed sprint touch pros on their network, but now neither sprint nor verizon will allow any non carrier locked phone on their network. You'd have better luck getting Pepsi to put coke in their cans.
