You have a GSM version

If you don't know you should be flashing roms

Frankly, political correctness and neutrality is all nice, but at this point calling the Verizon Galaxy Nexus "CDMA Galaxy Nexus" is more confusing than useful.
The only way you can have a CDMA version is if you have a phone which has "Verizon" written on its rear battery-cover.
So quick steps to identify GSM model: Look for the Verizon-logo. If it isn't there, you have a real, proper GSM phone.

You've got a few posts and have even helped out some people. How is it that you can't figure out which type of phone you have?
Settings->about phone should be your starting place here.

If you bought it in Australia, it is GSM. Australia hasn't had a CDMA network for a long while.
Also to double check, go into settings -> about phone and build number? See if it is maguro (GSM) or toro (CDMA). I have AOKP flashed already so this may be slightly different. You can always download Android System info from the market

Toro? Toroplus?

What do this terms mean? I have seen them when referring to ROMs, and I know the package to installed to root was called toroplus, but when exactly is it / does it mean? Thanks.
Also, what specific versions are there? I've seen GNex LTE or GNex CDMA and GNex GSM. Aren't all the GNex, sprint and verizon LTE compatible?
These are the internal names for the various Galaxy Nexus hardware.
maguro - GSM international model
toro - Verizon CDMA/LTE model
toroplus - Sprint CDMA/LTE model

Okay so whenever someone says ROM for toroplus that means for Sprint model correct? And why do people say Sprint CDMA / LTE Model? Why the / LTE if it is understood to have LTE already?
haha. BullPlus..
I translated toroplus as extra bull.
...of the people, by the people, for the people...
The Sprint and Verizon versions BOTH have LTE, correct?

Yeah they both have the late antenna just sprint doesn't have the network switch on to LTE yet

Cause LTE is not CDMA technology is different , practically LTE is the new advanced GSM technology while CDMA is the old tech and Verizon and sprint still uses it

But the CDMA nexuses have the LTE capability though, right?

We just established this, which is why its called Galaxy Nexus "LTE".
My fast boot mode says as "toro 32GB"
So is it Verizon Gnex? But I am successfully flashed sprint version ROM and radio!
What is it exactly?

Got mine from Sprint and fastboot still reads Toro 32GB after the official update. Do any Toroplus actually even say Toroplus in fastboot? My last one from Sprint was the same.

True, but since all three variants are the Tuna family...
Toro is the fatty and more expensive sushi tuna.
Maguro is the lower cut.
And Grouper?
Another type of fish.
But to the OP:
What carrier are you using?
If it's Verizon you're Toro.
If it's Sprint you're ToroPlus
If you're carrier is anyone else...you're Maguro.

Verizon and GSM Galaxy Nexus question

Hi,I bought this phone from Vodafone Romania a couple months ago...when i decided to root the phone(because the bootloader was already unlocked when I bought the phone) and start flashing some roms i didn't knew if my devuce was Verizon or GSM. I tried updating the software but the latest was 4.1.1( a month ago),and now I think that tge phone was bought from Verizon and imported in Romania by Vodafone. I flashed a GSM system image and from that day i continued flashing GSM stuff. Now I'm almost sure that I have a Verizon model but not totaly sure and I'm a little scared flashing a verizon image...what are the risks if my phone is a GSM and i flash a Verizon image? Is that safe? What are the chances of bricking the device? I really need some advices. Thanks!!!
It's not a Verizon model. Verizon is CDMA and yours is gsm. Just convert it to a yakju and then you'll get all the Google updates.
There are a few guides on how to convert your non-yakju to a yakju. But since you're flashing ROMs, you don't need to worry much about it.

I started thinking about this because I have a strange delay when i want to lock the screen. It lasts like 1-2 seconds from the momentni press the power button to lock the screen before it actually turns off and locks. I am on bigixie 4.2.1 stock and stoxk kernel. I alreasy have yakju,i can see this in the bootloader, the only thung I can't understand is why I have that stupid loxk screen lag/delay and others don't...
That is actually a complaint about 4.2 ROMs. It sucks but there's not much you can do about it.
But it doesn't mean you have a Verizon gnex...

ok then,thanks anyway

There's many things op can do actually. I never had this problem when using my galaxy Nexus. It is not normal and op should replace his Rom with one that is more optimized for android 4.2 than that Rom because it isn't optimized very well as its a stock Rom.
Go with Cyanogenmod or any well developed Rom. Along with a kernel that is popular such as trinity or Franco kernel and you should see a significant performance boost and the lag hopefully will not be there.

[Q] What model is this?

Hi, i am interested in purchasing a brand new gnex for roughly $330 CAD. While this is not the best price, I am willing to pay it just for the warrenty.
I want to purchase the unit from Mobilicity from Canada.
Does anyone know the particular model from Mobilicity? I know it is penta-band, so I am guessing the phone will be compatible with wind mobile, am i correct?
I am just curious if anyone purchased their unit from Mobilicity, and if you did, please tell me the specific model number? I am just curious because I might move to the state in a couple months, I am not sure if I should just buy VZW gnex or simply purchase it in canada.
Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance
EDIT: From what I've collected so far, all models being sold in Canada are maguro, but is it takju ot yakju? If it is yakju, does it mean i will never get google wallet no matter what I do in the future? (say, flash a factory image from google directly on US carrier)

You can flash takju factory image on yakju and vice versa. No you can get google wallet as easy as flashing factory image.

[Q] Galaxy Nexus on Cricket - Flash CM10.1 or AOKP?

A friend of a friend wants me to pick out a phone for them to use on Cricket.
I googled and found the Galaxy Nexus to be in his budget and it sounds like this CDMA version can be flashed to Cricket.
Does anyone know if there are CM10.1 or AOKP type ROM's that can be flashed for a Galaxy Nexus on Cricket?
Or if all this is a bad idea and there is a better phone for under $225 [used]?

I wont opinion on whether or not the CDMA variant will work on Cricket but find out the original carrier (Sprint or VZ) and look there.
I have a Verizon phone i fully flashed to cricket. Google the instructions, basically you flash the sprint radio then you can use any toroplus ROM that comes with CDMA tools. I got the instructions from cricketusers.com and the script to change the values i got from the via chip thread here. I'm on dho commotio but like i said any toroplus (sprint) ROM will do.

Difference of Korean and International version??

Hello all,
I know its a busy time for GNex forum but here i am an upcoming new member who cant wait to join with this...
I am buying a new GNex and i think its the Korean version which comes with an extra battery and a back cover...I just want to know whats the difference between this Korean version and International version?
Also, it has any difference in the firmware and updating of it?? Like updates come later and such
Any help would be really appreciated
Sent from my LG-P500 running ICySnap
As far as i know there are only 3 variants, i9250 (maguro) verizon lte (toro) sprint lte (toroplus) so if its a 3g gnex you're safe.
All Google images should be compatible if it's i9250

Sch are carrier locked and if anything you'd know it's sch if it has dual Sim, or some TV app on it. If I were you ask them to send a screenshot of the settings->About Phone and look at the model number.

Korean versions are 100% maguro, so you can just unlock the bootloader and do whatever you do. Its hardware is the same as international version

Model Number doesn't tell you anything but Galaxy Nexus
The Korean gnex, whether its from sk telecom or from kt, has exactly the same hardware as i9250.
The only difference is that It comes with yakjukr instead of yakju.
I am using shw-m420s (sk telecom variant) with yakju factory image flashed to get earlier ota updates, and it works flawlessly as expected.
