[Q] Kies - problems syncing Outlook 2010 contacts with Note II - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone else had problems with using Kies to sync contacts to/from Outlook 2010 and the Samsung Galaxy Note II ?
I have moved to the Note II from a Blackberry - the Blackberry syncing worked like a dream.
The problem is when I have a contact with say only a Company Name in Outlook - it wont sync across into my Note II Contacts.
I've tried Companion Link but that only syncs to DeJa Contacts and I don't want to use that because its a 3rd party software app and it doesn't have the same functionality as the Contacts on the Note II.
Any advice or recommendations would be welcomed. (and no thanks I don't want to use Google Contacts either - I just want to use Outlook)

Those contacts are on your Outlook Gal or saved individually ?

I used Outlook 2010 stand alone currently so they sit in my default Contacts folder in the Outlook PST file.
I plan to move to Exchange OnLine in the next couple of months so I'll have a hosted Exchange Server via Telstra (Australia).

Android calendar sync with MS Outlook

I am synchronizing the Desire's "PC calendar" with MS Outlook through HTC Sync.
However i see, that the custom ROMs based on Froyo (Android 2.2) don't include HTC Sync, as they are ported from Nexus One.
Is there any alternative solution for syncing the Android calendar directly with MS Outlook ?
For security reasons (my company doesn't like to post internal, including confidental , data on Google and making it in fact a public information) i can't use these methods:
- sync Outlook calendar with Google calendar directly through internet
- use Google calendar instead of Outlook calendar
- sync Desire calendar directly with Exchange server
Does anybody else have this issue ?
I don't understand why Google hasn't already addressed this issue. May be they don't wont to see the Android in corporate environment ?
In your situation I don't think so.
I had a problem syncing with Outlook but discovered by using Google calendar you can skip the outlook sync and have your calendar whenever you are when you log on,
Joe
How about this:

As i wrote, i need to synchronize with the Outlook calendar in my work.
I can't really force may company (including all the 50.000 employees worldwide) to use Google calendar instead of Outlook calendar (MS Exchange).
There is no way to sync the Google calendar with my Outlook calendar, for security reasons (confidential data is sent in the Outlook invitations). The whole Google calendar is blocked in my company and i can't even connect the server (for security reasons).

The stock mail app has native Exchange support - or you can use Touchdown which is more feature rich. Google doesn't need to be involved - it's a secure (SSL) connection between your phone and your company's Exchange server.

As I mentioned before, the company Exchange policy doesn't allow direct syncing. For some reason only the access over https://owa.company.com/... is working.
Direct access from Android to OWA Exchange server doesn't work (some ambiguous error appears, probably the Exchange server prohibits this kind of connections at all).

I have tried Exchange for Android 2.0/ 2.1 from NitroDesk, Inc. and after much struggle it was able to detect correct settings for my corporate Exchange.
Apperently i can sync all the folders now (i am not completely sure, as i have played with this soft only for few hours), read email, sync calendar, private folders, notes etc.
It's only a 30 day trial, i hope the official Froyo 2.2 from HTC will come before the trial period expires and then i could use the updated Mail application with extended Exchange capabilities delivered by default in Android.
Hallo,
I am also a newcomer to Desire HTC Sync/outlook 2003. I have downloaded the latest htc version and installed. Everything working fine (basic calender and contacts) except:
1. The contacts are synced on the prename instead of the lastname, although in outlook on last name.
2. I have in the contacts submenus. How do I sync those?
Could somebody help me?

Regarding your first point I think when you are in your contact list and you press menu then settings you can change that (don't have my phone at the moment so can't check it on mine)
I have looked everywhere. I am not able to find in the menu the possibility to rearrange the sorting on lastname. This is perhaps somewhere in the general setup.
Can someone help me?
By the way, I purchased The missing sync. But this is to be discussed in a completely separate thread.

I use outlook 2010, (it's great) and I am not having this issue, the only place I can change this setting is not in my phone but in outlook 2010, go to file>Options>Contacts>names and filing>default "File As" make sure is says last, first
hope this helps
I am using Outlook 2003. The file is set as you have described. All my contacts are arranged in Outlook on the last name.
Perhaps there is really no way to get this arranged in Desire/HTC Sync. I could not find anything in the manual concerning this item.
Many thanks for your effort.
Just got my phone back today, but unfortunatly I'm not able to find the setting anymore. (you can change the display form of names frome first name last name to last name, first name but you can only do that when you edit the contacts name, which is way to much work for all your contacts)

Ditto!
Do NOT go for missing sync. Its very unprofessionally run and full of bus.
Ive had the product for about 6 months and they havent been able to fix my issues. Originally I had problems on Xperia X8 in that my contacts were being removed form the PC when synchronising.
Logged the issue with MarkSpace (which by the way appears to be a two man outfit). I would get a reply every so often to say a new version has been released and I should try it. When askign if the new version was actually a fix for my issue i was told no and that I should 'jut try it'. Good job I backed up my outlook data file first as it deleted my contacts again.
Eventually decided to change my phone and now have a different issue; missing sync is preventing google synchronisation. Also the contacts on my phone which were written to the phone from PC do not synchronise if I edit them. Not only that but if I edit a google contact on the phone that too does not synchronise with google.
These people dont seem to care that there are real users in the field with real data. Once again Im told to 'try the new version' - same result. Problem not fixed
Missing sync would have been better of 'Missing'

When I bought me Focus the ATT rep installed a new sim card. The rep didn’t copy all my contacts from my 2 year old Fuze running Winmo 6.5. I haven’t seen anything in Zune to copy my contacts from Outlook to the Focus. I have copied through activsync all my contacts from the Fuze to Outlook but can’t find a method to know get the outlook contacts on my Focus sim. Thanks for any suggestions.

Windows Phone 7 does not currently sync directly with your desktop Outlook client (via USB, or any other directly connected method). The phone was designed to sync with cloud-based services, which means that it ties into your Windows Live ID (Hotmail contacts), or Exchange ActiveSync accounts (such as Gmail).
A workaround would be to use the Outlook Connector to add your Windows Live Hotmail account to Outlook, and then copy your contacts from your Outlook file to your Hotmail account.
The phone automatically syncs Email, Calendar, and Contact information from your Windows Live ID.
Please try a search next time, as this question and information on this topic is everywhere.
what about sms messages?
is there any way to get them into the phone?

[Q] I need to sync with Outlook or this phone is going back!

Hi there,
I have upgraded from a HTC Touch Pro II to the new HTC HD7 phone.
Looks great and the menu's are spot on. I like everything about the beast apart from the fact that it wont sync with outlook.
Or will it?
Could anyone help me please
...of course you can sync your WP7 phone with Outlook. Only it works differently.
Check for "WinLive Solutions"....
FTC
You can also just use the Outlook connector for Live Mail. This will allow you to use Outlook on your computer and still sync your phone with the cloud. You can use all features of Outlook with this add-in.

Hi pal, just try the following, works really great! Guide: How to easily transfer your Windows Mobile contacts to your Windows Phone 7 device

I've downloaded Outlook Connector and was able to sync my calender and contacts to my Windows Live account. But it looks like just an initial sync. If I add a new appointment in my Outlook Calendar I have to copy it to the Windows Live calendar that is in Outlook to sync with the online account and then phone.
I was using android for awhile and used Gmail sync which you could set 1 way or 2 way sync with how long you want between syncs.
Does the Outlook Connecter do this and I'm just not seeing how to set it up properly?
with the outlook connector you've got a new calender in outlook. you should have (a minimum of) two calendars after setting up the connector and you can choose which one to display. to copy all appointments to the cloud go to your offline calendar, mark all, copy, go to the live calendar and paste. after that just use the live calendar for all and will automatically sync with your phone
Also, if you set your default mailbox delivery location to the Windows Live account in Outlook account preferences, Outlook will use your Live calendar as your default calendar.

[Q] Calendar Synchronisation

I've just bought a new Samsung Note II GT-N7100 (Android version 4.1) and I am having issues when it comes to synchronise my Ms Outlook Calendar.
1. The application that I am using from the device is the S Planner - which is already installed on the device;
2. Application that I am using on my laptop Ms Office 2007;
3. Exchange Server backend 2003.
When I first synchronised the device with the calendar seemed to be working fine. But the issue is when I have a calendar appointment and one of my delegates changes the time or the duration of the appointment, the Samsung does not reflect the changes that were made.
Now I have another issue the calendar is not displaying new appointments both if entered from my laptop either entered from my device. Is like I am seeing an old snap-shot of my calendar.
I tried to made various troubleshooting (Deleted outlook profile from the device and re-configured, Tried to install 3rd Party Applications) but problem still persists.
Your help is much appreciated, since I do not know where to place my head at this stage.

Sounds like you simply imported the calendar and didn't set it to synchronize.
If you simply import it, it will literally take a snap-shot of your calendar, put it into the new calendar and do absolutely nothing else (it won't sync).
I've got both my school calendar and google calendar synced to my Note II (Also using S-Planner) and they work fine.
First of all thanks for the reply.....
from the sync options, I've set it up as peak and off peak to Push but to no avail....
do you have any more ideas, what this issue can be!
thanks once again

Question pixel 6 pro and outlook DESKTOP sync

thinking of coming across from my Samsung SG20 and i like how i can sync my desktop outlook calendar to it via smart switch. does this pixel pro have somethin like that? i DO NOT want to use GMAIL. i want to sync my desktop outlook calendar. cant find anything on the interwebs....
thanks
Use Outlook mobile? But I guess you don't want that either?
Use "MyPhoneExplorer"!
I use it to sync my Company Outlook with my phone´s calender and contacts.
Be careful in wich direction the first sync works... you could delete one side!
After that it works flawless...

+1 I use it also for my work calendar since there is no other way. As mentioned, pay attention to the synchronization setup.
To sync calendars, you will either need a host service (basically any email service provider that supports either Microsoft Exchange or CalDAV), or a service running on the computer you want to sync from (plus access to the computer from the phone, so things like ngrok, or a VPN - not talking about commercial VPN services that make you appear you're browsing from another country, but an actual, proper VPN that creates a virtual local network, or e.g. ZeroTier).
Haven't seen anyone clamoring for this feature since the WinMo days.
I've been using companion link for outlook desktop for years. i'm still on the original version 7 and it works great with most recent outlook and my p6p. They're on version 9 or 10 now but 7 works for me so I've not upgraded it.
It called deja office now not companion link.

Slightly off-topic, but if you want to sync your Outlook work calendar with a Gmail calendar, look at Gsyncit. It can sync Outlook cals to several different programs. It won't sync mail, but it works great on cals. It's automatic, (you can have it sync anytime a cal entry is updated), and runs in the background. It's pretty cheap too. It's how I get my work cal on my phone without installing all the MDM my company requires.
