Seems that more than a few people have this issue, even with the actual OTA update.
I am also missing any sort of Spring boot animation, only the LG animation plays.

I am assuming it wasn't corrected before they sent out the OTA, they probably put Chameleon and change the boot ani so that people don't know which phone it is for.
I think you can go into the build.prop and change it to Sprint if you really want it. And if you really want the Sprint boot ani's you can check out my thread here.
Try reactivating the phone and updating the prl and profile. I've heard that fixes it. Do the dial menu combo, can't remember the numbers. Lol

This did not help the issue. Ran it twice.
Hmm...someone lied then! Haha. I'll have to find the post. But it was a thought. And it didn't hurt to try it. My apologies.

Okay, I will tell you the answer and the reason it is doing it. But, it will cost you 5 bucks each......just kidding.
What is Chameleon?
In an internal memo I found Sprint announced they will lease their network to independent companies and you could use existing unbranded Sprint phones for the service. The network is named Chameleon because you can disguise it to be any network you want. You could make it Billy Bob's Mobile if you wanted.
How?
All they have to do is turn off the branding. It will change the Sprint boot animation in the network settings and hocus pokus, you have a stock LG boot animation and a phone that say "Chameleon" instead of "Sprint".
The fix?
Turn back on your Sprint boot animation in the network settings.

Interesting, how is it randomly happening?
Where in the network settings exactly? Ive never seen this option. My phone is still stock.

Funny thing is I've never had this "Chameleon" issue on Stock or otherwise. I could post a build.prop with the proper carrier ID but folks would need to root to apply the fix. Personally, I say ignore it and enjoy the phone.
Would I hurt anything to run ##CLEAR# based off these codes?

I don't know what option it is that does it. But, it is something you changed in the dialer menu. Ask autoprime on irc. I was the one that told him what was causing the issue. He knew what exactly fixed it.

Okay, first, if your not on Sprint than you don't want to do this. So, are you on boost or cricket?
If you are on Sprint you need to turn your branding back on. This is what I have been saying all along.
You need to go to the dialer. Type 3845#*970#. Go to Data. Go to PPP. Changed it back from Undetermined to Sprint.
But, like I said. If your not on Sprint let us know what your on and we can go from there. Either way, it is something you did to the network settings. Hope that helps.

I am on Sprint. The only thing I did was receive the OTA, didnt touch a single thing after that.
Going through that menu, the PPP options are Undeterminded, Sprint, SKT_Sprint. I tried selecting "Sprint" and it didnt take. I just tried "SKT_Sprint" and it still says Chameleon.
Tried the ppp change as well with no success
Selected Sprint, phone rebooted with no change
Okay, there is another way but I don't remember what it is. You use nova launcher. You create a shortcut to update something.
Ask autoprime on irc or send him a pm. He should know what it is.
I am trying but it seems like a persistent bug. Somehow your phones became unbranded. It really shouldn't be an issue other than it not saying Sprint.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda premium
Change the "ro.cdma.home.operator.alpha" field value from "Chameleon" to "Sprint" in the build.prop file and then reboot. Downloading a build.prop editor from the market was easiest for me but you can change it manually as well.

id be careful changing certain settings. setting SKT could lead to broken 3g.
a ##786# reset seems to also lead to "chameleon". if you lgnpst'd back to stock zv9.. then upgraded to zvb it should fix chameleon issue.. but thats annoying.
easy fix...
1. install nova launcher
2. with nova launcher now set as launcher hold on homescreen to create new shortcut.
3. select new short cut > activities.
4. scroll down the list until you see "Update Device"... click update device then look for a "Branding" submenu.
5. Click on "Branding" and you will make a "Branding" shortcut on your Homescreen.
6. Click new "Branding" shortcut and set Branding to "Sprint"
Confirmed working in both ZV9 and ZVB.

After completing full root and nand unlock, my Evo no longer calls itself an Evo... If I go to menu > settings > about phone > phone identity, it is called PC36100. This is also true when going through the initial setup wizard(adding gmail accts, etc) it refers to itself as a PC36100. I realize this doesn't really affect the usage of the phone, but I find it very annoying... Is there a way to correct/prevent this? Or is it an unavoidable side effect of rooting with the current methods?
This is normal, and is the same for stock.

Does it even display as an Evo in a stock rom? As far as I'm concerned, it's a PC36100. I'd rather see the model name than the marketed name.

I Have No Android Market At All In My Phone. And I Have Rooted It With CM6, After I Did That I Had Flashed The Google Add Ons, And Nothing!! My Messaging Wouldn't Work, Internet Wouldn't Work, And Most Importantly, No Android App Market. So I Then Immediately Format Everything So It Was Stock, And Now I Still Have No App Market, Youtube, Sprint Football... (etc.) I Know I've Tried Different Rooting Methods Before For My HTC Evo, So Could Some Of Them Being On My SD Card Have Some Sort Of Effect With The Whole No App Market Deal..? Also, Can You Please Tell Me How To Fix This Issue? Thanks So Much!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah. Just navigate to system/media/sounds/ui and find shutter.ogg. rename to shutter.oggbak and reboot. You can always rename it back to gain sound.

Questions go in Q&A, you know that.
You can turn on the toggle by navigating to /system/csc/feature.xml and setting the "false" to true like in the selected text in my picture. Then reboot.
Afterwards you'll get a toggle for it like in my second attachment.

Yes. Edit the xml on your PC with something like notepad++ otherwise you'll have issues jf you edit it on the phone. Trust me it'll bork the longpress symbols on the stock keyboard and features will only half activate.

While the CSC hack works for the stock camera, 3rd party cameras like instagram will still have sound. I did the CSC hack for my g/f on her E4GT, and instagram still had sound, so it was pretty annoying for her.
Even though it's overkill, I do both the CSC hack and modify the files just because.

Ah, but I never guaranteed anything for 3rd party apps...and the same may not be true for the E4GT as it is for the S3. For example, I know that if you enable 360 degrees rotation on the E4GT in the framework-res and do the same on the S3, the home screen will not rotate on the S3 while it does on its predecessor. So I wouldn't necessarily correlate it not working on the E4GT to it not working on the S3 unless you're tried it yourself. Personally, I have no need for 3rd party apps that use camera so I simply enable the toggle.

Stock keyboard all the secondary symbols for long press vanish from the main keyboard, still work if you press the sym key. And certain features either don't fully enable or disable depending on which you're doing. For example the messaging options will enable but are greyed out when edited on the phone but work fine when edited via PC. For some reason CSC files don't like being edited on the phone.

anyway to get the original csc file back to fix the keyboard then re edit on the PC?

Once you push it back you'll need to reboot as well. Usually if I break something using feature I restore the original then reboot, then push back a modified version and reboot again. You need to use the unmodified one to fix the crap that breaks when editing on the phone before trying to remodify it.

I know you didn't guarantee anything for 3rd party apps. That's mainly why I put in my 2 cents, because I have used the toggle by itself and it doesn't work on third party apps (tried it on both the E4GT and the GS3).
I know it's all personal preference, but I'm just stating to the OP what each method implies. If he's satisfied with using the CSC hack, all the better for him since it's all one, easy step instead of modifying a bunch of files. :good:

I know, and I'm just saying that because it doesn't work on the E4GT in all scenarios, doesn't mean that it won't work on the S3 in all scenarios
You also have to change the forced shutter sound from 1 to 0 in build.prop for the toggle to fully function properly.

Hi guys! Again here's another mod from me. This mod should fix the lockscreen issue when any apps requiring accessibility is enabled.
Just push the apk in
Code:
/system/app/
replacing the original one with this mod.
Sorry guys was not able to make a flashable zip my phone is the only device I have right now to access the internet(no computer) so would really appreciate it if someone can make a flashable zip for me
Update
Added flashable zip
Download here
And as always... Deodexed ROMs only. Don't flash in a pure stock odexed ROM it will break your lockscreen.

Great, was waiting for this one. thx.
Hi! Added flashable zip
Question....
May I ask what were the issues with the apps using open accessibility? I use Knock2+
and if I need the fix, which out of the two attachment do I need? Do I need to flash both of them? or just the second one as the file name suggested its purposes?
Just come across this thread from a post on the trickdroid forums...
This is great....just installed the zip on my HTC One and its seems to be working perfect at the moment....if theres any issues I'll post up after a days use...
It's made me a happy chappie tonight..:good:

For instance, I have a pebble watch that requires the pebble app. The pebble app requires that you start the service for pebble in the accessibility settings. So an option at the top under services you have to turn on. As soon as you turn on one of the services there - as far as I know any service not just pebble - it will make the lockscreen broken. So from that point on just touching the lockscreen anywhere will unlock the device. You don't have to swipe up the lock or clock anymore. And you can't pull any of the app icons up to load into those. It just unlocks the device as soon as you touch the screen. The big problem with this is if the phone is ringing in your pocket. As you pull it out of your pocket and it rubs against your leg/pants, it will unlock/answer the call. Now occasionally I don't want to answer the phone. Its been a big problem.
Thanks to the OP for this fix. You are a life saver! Or at least a sanity saver.

I have replied to your PM. Please check your inbox
I can't reproduce your problem so please try wiping dalvik cache or deleting the folder /data/data/com.htc.idlescreen.base/
And if it still persists try doing a factory reset instead.
Doing a dirty install of the Trickdroid ROM should have restored the original lockscreen app so I'm pretty sure it's something to do with your dalvik-cache.
Just try wiping dalvik-cache for now it shouldn't delete anything so it's safe.
So I guess the fix can only be used if you're rooted and that sucks cause I am not

I was wondering if this mod would negate the option to disable exchange server security? I've flashed trickdroid and applied this mod, but now my exchange server is requiring a password/pin on unlock. I'd like to be able to disable this when I'm home in tasker and I have that setup, but now it doesn't work. I think it was this mod that removed that feature from TrickDroid. Do you know the answer?
@Riyal since installing this fix I have a problem with the proximity sensor while on a call. Sometimes the screen goes black as soon as the call connects and the screen doesn't come back on. Sometimes the screen doesn't turn off when I hold the phone to my face and sometimes it does turn off but won't turn on again.
Is this problem related to this fix? Is anyone else experiencing this?

Hi! I'm not sure about the exchange server mod as I am not using it. I'll take a look at the mod soon and see what was modified on it and see if it conflicts with my mod.
And by the way could you give me a tutorial/guide on how and where to get an exchange account to test? Pardon but I don't really use that feature at all.
Anyways I am using exchange activesync on my phone right now but only using live.com account. And I'm not sure if having a private exchange server is needed.

Hi! Proximity sensor works perfectly well with my mod here. I have already called a number of times with the mod installed and I am also using tasker and I can't reproduce the problem
So I am trying to figure out if I am missing a setting or if I can mod the SecPhone.apk to show the length of time you where on a call with some one? On the tmobile and verizon S3 if you go to logs and select a call it will show length of time under the time of day. On my note 2 and sprint S3 it does not show this info.

What ROM are you on?
---------- Post added at 05:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:56 PM ----------
You can go to Call Log Or Call Statistics.. Click on the phone call you're inquiring about.. And obtain this info... Just one click away from the Call Log. No digging really.

Its showing 2 separate calls for displayed contact. Are you not able to click on those calls to bring up the info for each call?
topherk no it does nothing
xxStarbucksxx clicking either one does nothing.
On the verizon and Tmobile Stock TW versions that same screen shows a time length under the time of day called.
Wow.. That's odd. And unfortunately I haven't used TW 4.1.2 in a while.. And even when I did I never checked my call logs. Sorry.

Go to phone dialer. Tap logs. Tap number you want to know about. Tap menu again. Then View Contact. There is a history tap, tap that.
I can suggest to try this 4 step process.

See if this works. All I did was Google. I can't confirm anything not being on TW.

Yeah by default on the Note 2 version this is also disabled. I did find in the features.xml file how to turn that on at least.

There's always SwypeDialer via the playstore. It seems a lot of people on Sprint stock have that issue. But you should be able to click or long press the call in question and it should bring up details.
Thanks for the help. I would rather modify the stock to work the way I want it instead of installing another app.

If it's enabled in VZW phones and disabled in ours, I'd bet it's a Build.Prop line item. I don't have a copy of the VZW build.prop to compare, but if you can get your hands on one and compare it to ours, you might be able to find the line item that either enables or disables the call duration display.

I know its early days and not many people have a Note Edge yet. I really hope someone can help me out on this when they do?
My Note Edge (Korean model), does not have the Twitter, Yahoo sports ticker or the yahoo news panels. This is very frustrating because I was really looking forward to these. I wonder once its available in the US, if someone would be able to extract these panels from their roms somehow?
Im stuck with some panels showing Koren information from a source called Daum.
By the way, there's a new panel available for download - its for the S Planner, I love it! It shows upcoming appointments. Only downside is that it will only show appointment the day.
Same boat. In Korea... Daum ticker.
Hopefully something changes
Yeah, waiting for something to change soon. :fingers-crossed:
Well i have my phone but the problem now is root.
I wont be able to pull the ticker from my phone without rooting it first. I would try to note 4 method but i dont wanna be the first to try it lol.

Thanks for even considering, mate. I wouldn't expect you to start messing with a phone you just purchased for huge amount of money.
I might try to root mine if there are some step by instructions. I am just not very familiar with rooting since I haven't done one for ages.

Ok root explore has access to the system, but its in read only mode. So i can copy that, just not sure what the edge panel apk is called. Ill check it out later on tonight and see if i can find something
Then maybe for the time being it can resign it and able you to install it as a apk vs system apk.
Not sure its been a while since i done that.

For what it's worth when I had the Docomo version of the edge I rooted via some Japanese dev sites that got it done very quickly. And to add custom recovery I was able to use my own tmobile TWRP file and it added custom recovery no problem. So I'm sure it's a very similar process because they basically same sans the edge screen

I tried that explorer after your message I could see the Cocktail Ssysrem apk but it doesn't list any individual widgets. (Image attached).
Phone is full of sk telecom apps.
Why did bloody Samsung or sk telecom put these useless Daum ticker panels on the phone I got??? Why couldn't they just leave the Yahoo panels on it???
How do I get hold of these panels???
you're really not missing anything with the twitter app it only shows trending terms with it had your timeline

I think it's something called Cocktail bar apk. I posted a screenshot on page 1. I'm not 100% if the edge panel apps are there though?
Thanks.
I'll be rooting mine and perusing for you guys later
Can someone please create another quick access panel? I have the AT&T version, and it would be great to have another quick access panel.

i have a korean 915k anyone knows how to delete those korean panel ?
The G3 had a secret menu that allowed you to change some build.prop properties or with an editor. You could simply allow dual screen on all apps which isn't allowed stock.
I edited a lot of the G3 environment through build.prop. Is there something similar for Samsung devices? Not sure if it's on all devices or not.

Not sure about deleting unless you have root access.
I am not rooted yet. I have disabled these panels in my 915S.
The apk you need to disable is 'portalservicewidget' this under the application manager > All.
If you want to disable the useless quick access panel than disable the Live UX apk.
