#requires:
-Hands,fingers,brain
-Xperia s ,acro s and ion
-root
-root explorer or anything similar explorer that can edit system files
#step 1
open root explorer,go to /system ,mount it r/w and then longpress on build.prop and press *open in text editor*
#step 2
add those lines at the end of the file-text(please backup first):
persist.sys.ui.hw=1
ro.vold.umsdirtyratio=20
ro.wmt.blcr.enable=0
added tweaks(thanks should go on mrsatan[3rd tweak and 4th tweak number] and and on one random guy at google):
ro.max.fling_velocity=12000
ro.min.fling_velocity=8000
view.scroll_friction=10
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=280
ro.min_pointer_dur=8
ro.telephony.call_ring.delay=0
ring.delay=0
press menu button and then press save and exit
mount r/o
#step 3
reboot your phone (if someone asks me what is reboot i will shoot his head)
#step 4
post a comment and tell if it is working or not and thank me if you consider that i helped you
#step 5

Hello, sorry for my bad English.
Could you tell if it really works in XS?
thanks for the input!
Nothing new, these were shared long ago.
Reply to all... Yes u can apply it and on sl......
I know those tweaks are not new but ive collected those that made my device faster and without lags in one place so it will be easy for users to find
So are those tweaks working?
Works very well here in my XS with stock.45 rom! Even the browser get smoother.
Good job!
No change felt.
Can you throw some light on what it does exactly.

the new tweaks made scrolling faster (the first 5)
and the other 2 made the call delay minimum....
the scrolling is especially faster in settings where i felt much lag..
have you saved the build prop after the edit

Normally.. I did the same of the post, with solid explorer i opened the build.prop and paste these lines at the end and saved. Then I rebooted and now the ui is very smoother. And there's other fix that I loved, the mod eliminated boring delay to keypad to calls.
Make sure to save the file before reboot
Good luck

You know guys how to remove the lag in the settings and some other apps as well? Go to settings, scroll through the bottom, choose "Developer options", and check "Force GPU Rendering". I know it's not a new thing, but not everybody knows this

I honestly don't know. I changed it and liked it, I prefer a
quick phone over cute animations. The change to .5x isn't
necessary to fix the lag it just adds to the overall quickness,
so if someone doesn't like it they can choose an
animation speed of their preference.
Does this change the actual ui speeds? Or just animations?

Going to have to back track a little. I noticed if the phone sits for a while, let's say twenty minutes, the lock screen delay comes back occasionally. The delay does happen far less though.
This tweak worked for me as far as the screen on lag went. Although I had to add the lines myself to AOKP build 5 as they weren't included. Used jrummys build.prop editor.

Ok now this is what I've tried and works fine for me.
If you want a much brighter LED flashlight for your camera, edit your build.prop to these values ( if you dont have these lines, add them)
ro.media.capture.flash=led
ro.media.capture.flashMinV=3300000
ro.media.capture.torchIntensity=140
ro.media.capture.flashIntensity=145
SAVE the build.prop and reboot. Then check the flash light through camera app.
These are just value edits I have done and the coding is not by me.
Use it on your own risk! Don't blame me if you spoil your device ....
Sent from my beautifull white Xperia S.
Hit thanks if I have helped you.
EDIT:
An alternative would be install pimp my Rom app, use flash led tweaks from it, reboot, then search build.prop for the lines mentioned above, edit them according to the above mentioned lines, save them and then reboot and find the difference in flash led in camera app (when the camera captures a pic, you will notice the difference) or, in custom roms, using just the flashlight app can show the difference.

It was weird when I find out that Xperia S Flash is Dim!
I used Xperia Neo befor buying xperia S and it had really Bright Flash and it even can Burn you Finger if you put your finger on it.
I have to try this MOD.
Hope this works.

It works only in the camera flash...not in any other flashlite apps.

Not working for me

Ok now this is what I've tried and works fine for me.
If you want a much brighter LED flashlight for your camera, edit your build.prop to these values ( if you dont have these lines, add them)
ro.media.capture.flash=led
ro.media.capture.flashMinV=3300000
ro.media.capture.torchIntensity=140
ro.media.capture.flashIntensity=145
Save the build.prop and reboot. Then check the flash light through camera app.
These are just value edits I have done and the coding is not by me.
Use it on your own risk! Don't blame me if you spoil your device ....

Hit thanks if I have helped you.

I don't know much about the differences with relocked and unlocked bootloaders in internal file editing but this is confirmed work in unlocked bootloader xperia s .

Sorry mate ..
I am no developer.. just figured out this trick and tried with many xperia s phones and works brilliantly.
Try this...
Install pimp my rom app
Use flashled tweaks (find it)
Reboot
Then use a good file explorer
Check build.prop now
I think there should be these lines already put but values might differ
Change values and reboot
Now see if it works .
(I guess u need to activate init.d support too)

All the new Roms have this.
Is it brighter than all the custom Roms?? They all have a setting for ultra bright mode.

They all have a setting for ultra bright mode which doesnt work in the sxs sadly. Atleast for most of the sxs users.

No its not firmware dude.. That's your model phone..
Take a look at your build number.. Be sure you have the latest one (.423)
If it still lag, man.. I suggest you to install Honami's home, it's smooth like your phone running Gingerbread..

Or you can use nova, it's pretty smooth too. I use eXistenZ v1, I find absolutely no lag. Yet I've done some editing to my build.prop for smoothness by following this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2376536 <---- that also helps smooth scrolling when using the browser or anything that scrolls really.

You can't fix that, I think it's a hardware problem. Even at mininum level you can hear the vibration. Sometimes when I get a call or sms I don't feel it, but I hear it...
I disabled haptic feedback for the keyboard, got used to it fast, and it safes battery...
