help installing cyanogenmod Cm-10.1-20130304 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

used wwjoshdew video showing how to install Snapshot Cm-10.1-20130304 for my sprint Galaxy S3.
no clue what the problem is that i am having. i followed the video instructions to a tee and at first i went with the latest snapshot build from 3/4/13.
i went from stock rom to this new rom....it completed and loaded up the cm logo, but then said
unfortunately com.google..process .gapps has stopp...
then it said unfortunately setup wizard has stopped
so i restored my stock backup and tried again...same thing....tried again with the snapshot from 2013-01-21...same problem
I used goomanager to install this rom. did a clean install of course.
any idea what could be causing these issues?

Which gapps did you install? If you're installing nightlies, you should be installing the ones from March of 2013. Go to goo.im and open the gapps link to download the latest version.
Hope this helps!

Yup, FCs (forceclosings) of that sort are usually because you installed the wrong gapps version

[Q] Dual-Boot app builder question

So I went and used the app from twistedumbrella here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192064
Got everything to work other then the gapps for the 2nd boot after trying both the live install and a flash from recovery and using the app twice to write the .zip
So my question is what if anything am I doing wrong to not get the google apps or gapps to install to the 2nd rom/boot
I am using xylon latest official 2.2.1 and the latest cm 10.1 official nightly for today can boot into my normal xylon and fully working boot to cm10 works but nothing but native apps.
So if some one could either point out my mistake or point me in the right direction I would much appreciate it.
Also using the kernel

[Q] CM and Gapps version

Hello! I have managed to root my phone, but I got the set up wizard message and the gapps error. After a google search it told me I had the wrong version of gapps. However, when I go to the official gapps page, the download for cm 10.1 only works with 4.2.2 and not 4.1.2. The one for cm 10.0 is for 4.1.2, but on the hercules downloads page, the 10.1 stable release is already out (that's the one I used!). Does this mean I have to run 10.1 without gapps, or downgrade to 10.0 if I want gapps?
Trust me, I have searched for this. Any help would be appreciated.
if you are on 10.1 grab the first one on the page http://goo.im/gapps also double check make sure you have no market installed if you do then you dont need any gapps install everything from the market
Alright
Ok, I'm gonna try that. +1 thanks for you. Man, I'm such a noob. :crying: :crying:

It's circling now...it's been at it for about 5 minutes now...the wait is unbearable!
Circling
It appears to have no end to the blue circling boot screen. I tried clearing cache and factory reset using CWM, no cigar still. Any fixes for this?
The CM version is the 10.1 stable release for hercules.
The gapps version is the 20130301 version.
which link did you flash for the CM what thread point in the right direction where you flashed from ? if you booted up the first flash and gapps were incorrect it shouldnt matter when you update the gapps it wipes the old files just make sure to wipe dalvik/cache and reboot
My Idiocy
I am retarded. I decided to go and unroot the phone and flash a stock rom and try again. I then flashed twrp via odin (which I prefer now) with no problems. But for some reason, no matter how many times I clear everything and try different kernels, the device will just not root. I have tried the superuser zips from the official site, I have tried the superuser from CWM's site, nothing works. Gah. Now what? Am I stuck stock forever?

Just use TWRP to flash whatever (Hercules) ROM you want. Make sure you wipe dalvik, cache, system and data.
Alright, I will try a wipe again, and then flash a custom ROM. If it doesn't root me I will report back with the situation. Thank you for all your help!
Um, just another question before I proceed with wipe and rom...if the ROM is based off of JB 4.2.2, such as Cyanogen mod, will my phone just run 4.2.2 as part of the rom, or will it be incompatible?
EDIT: Never mind...
I love you all forever. It works, and I have gapps running and root access. Thank you so much...I really don't know what to say.

[Q] Carbon ROM and UBER Kernel Problem

As the title says:
Got a problem when flashing UBER 2 GHz on Carbon ROM. everything goes fine, then when the phone enters lock screen, phone.apk crashes. haven't installed google apps yet, and also use April 4 build of Carbon ROM. Any problems or AM I JUST LOOKING AT A COMPATIBILITY ERROR?
P.S.
Looked through the UBER Kernel Main Thread. Says you need TWRP 2.6.1.0 . I use TWRP 2.7.0.0. Is there anything wrong?
Thanks!

Pretty sure your issue is either you need GAPPS (all roms need GAPPS... unless they have it built in... if the install instrucitons say install gapps, install gapps. I am fairly confident that phone.apk is part of gapps.) OR UBER isn't compatible with Carbon.
Also, are you using the proper UBER for a KK ROM?

I was having the exact same problem, I've tried running it with uber many times so guessing it's an incompatibility. Uber's experimental Sabermod kernel is working okay with carbon though.
EDIT: Forgot to add that I did install gapps, and I'm also using TWRP 2.7.0.0.

[Q] Cant install CM11

Just purchased this beauty (except for the LG's software) and went on flashing CM instantly.
Rooted, installed TWRP and downloaded latest CM nightly.
Upon flashing CM, I get the following error (its saying that my device is GPE, while it isn't)
I'm currently doing Nandroid backup, just in case (even though I mostly skip it). The device software is v50020a, running 4.4.2.
Any help with this?
I have the same issue...
Did you guys follow the guide here for installing twrp on 4.4.2?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551499
if you guys aren't i'd make sure i was on the latest TWRP from that thread. I just installed cM11 june 19th nightly and it flashed and works perfectly.
EDIT: i see you are on the newest twrp, but you are on an old version of CM11..could this be the issue??
He flashed the palman recovery

On which version were you prior to updating to 12.1 snapshot? If you were on 11.0 snapshot you might want to consider a clean flash (factory reset, then flash ROM, then flash gapps). I did it like that and had no problems so far.
Good luck

Try "open gapps" I always have good results using those. Maybe try a fresh install of Lollipop though with FULL wipes including system. If not at least wipe cache and dalvik after flashing.

Since I have less than 10 posts I can't paste links, but gapps file that I used is the one suggested by CyanogenMod. Google "CyanogenMod gapps". Go to first link (it should be CM wiki page). Scroll down until you find table with version 12.1 "Download: GitHub". Click on it. Now, when on GitHub scroll down and click "arm". Now select the latest zip file (at the time of writing this, it's "gapps-5.1-arm-2015-07-17-13-29.zip"). If it doesn't start downloading click on "view the full file" or "View Raw".
If that doesn't work, try doing as RuffBuster said.
