[Q] Dual-Boot app builder question - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So I went and used the app from twistedumbrella here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192064
Got everything to work other then the gapps for the 2nd boot after trying both the live install and a flash from recovery and using the app twice to write the .zip
So my question is what if anything am I doing wrong to not get the google apps or gapps to install to the 2nd rom/boot
I am using xylon latest official 2.2.1 and the latest cm 10.1 official nightly for today can boot into my normal xylon and fully working boot to cm10 works but nothing but native apps.
So if some one could either point out my mistake or point me in the right direction I would much appreciate it.
Also using the kernel

Update since I cant post again until others post..
I was able to poke around and ask a great person for some help. After a pm he sent me a link to a gapps he had working I downloaded it flashed and booted into the 2nd rom and it works so i am posting here incase any one else ran into this issue
Here is the gapps:

help installing cyanogenmod Cm-10.1-20130304

used wwjoshdew video showing how to install Snapshot Cm-10.1-20130304 for my sprint Galaxy S3.
no clue what the problem is that i am having. i followed the video instructions to a tee and at first i went with the latest snapshot build from 3/4/13.
i went from stock rom to this new rom....it completed and loaded up the cm logo, but then said
unfortunately com.google..process .gapps has stopp...
then it said unfortunately setup wizard has stopped
so i restored my stock backup and tried again...same thing....tried again with the snapshot from 2013-01-21...same problem
I used goomanager to install this rom. did a clean install of course.
any idea what could be causing these issues?
Which gapps did you install? If you're installing nightlies, you should be installing the ones from March of 2013. Go to goo.im and open the gapps link to download the latest version.
Hope this helps!

Yup, FCs (forceclosings) of that sort are usually because you installed the wrong gapps version
thanks guys....it was the version of gapps. got it installed now
thanks!!!

[Q] CM and Gapps version

Hello! I have managed to root my phone, but I got the set up wizard message and the gapps error. After a google search it told me I had the wrong version of gapps. However, when I go to the official gapps page, the download for cm 10.1 only works with 4.2.2 and not 4.1.2. The one for cm 10.0 is for 4.1.2, but on the hercules downloads page, the 10.1 stable release is already out (that's the one I used!). Does this mean I have to run 10.1 without gapps, or downgrade to 10.0 if I want gapps?
Trust me, I have searched for this. Any help would be appreciated.
if you are on 10.1 grab the first one on the page http://goo.im/gapps also double check make sure you have no market installed if you do then you dont need any gapps install everything from the market
Alright
Ok, I'm gonna try that. +1 thanks for you. Man, I'm such a noob. :crying: :crying:

It's circling now...it's been at it for about 5 minutes now...the wait is unbearable!
Circling
It appears to have no end to the blue circling boot screen. I tried clearing cache and factory reset using CWM, no cigar still. Any fixes for this?
The CM version is the 10.1 stable release for hercules.
The gapps version is the 20130301 version.
which link did you flash for the CM what thread point in the right direction where you flashed from ? if you booted up the first flash and gapps were incorrect it shouldnt matter when you update the gapps it wipes the old files just make sure to wipe dalvik/cache and reboot
My Idiocy
I am retarded. I decided to go and unroot the phone and flash a stock rom and try again. I then flashed twrp via odin (which I prefer now) with no problems. But for some reason, no matter how many times I clear everything and try different kernels, the device will just not root. I have tried the superuser zips from the official site, I have tried the superuser from CWM's site, nothing works. Gah. Now what? Am I stuck stock forever?

Just use TWRP to flash whatever (Hercules) ROM you want. Make sure you wipe dalvik, cache, system and data.
Alright, I will try a wipe again, and then flash a custom ROM. If it doesn't root me I will report back with the situation. Thank you for all your help!
Um, just another question before I proceed with wipe and rom...if the ROM is based off of JB 4.2.2, such as Cyanogen mod, will my phone just run 4.2.2 as part of the rom, or will it be incompatible?
EDIT: Never mind...
I love you all forever. It works, and I have gapps running and root access. Thank you so much...I really don't know what to say.

[Q] MultiRom on Nexus 7 Flo Kernal Problems

Hi -- I can't find anything else here at all about this.
Over the course of about 3 hours today I've been trying to get my Nexus 7 (2013) to run multiple roms using this tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2457063
I'm going to try to give you as much information as I can.
This is a Nexus 7 2013, Wifi, 16GB
pics: http://imgur.com/a/mSonj
Just incase you missed any of that,
Nexus 7 2013 FLO
Cyanogen Mod 10.2 9/21/13 Nightly Build
TWRP v2.6.3.0
Anyway, here's my problem.
I'm trying to get this tablet to run Cyanogen Mod 10.2 and Ubuntu Desktop 13.04 Raring.
I started off by flashing the custom TWRP recovery, which worked perfectly.
I wiped the cache and dalvik just to be safe.
Rebooted into my Cyanogen Mod which still worked.
I then used the custom TWRP recovery to flash the multirom.zip in that thread.
I wiped the cache and dalvik once again, rebooted, and it worked.
Cyanogen was then my internal with absolutely no problems.
I used TWRP recovery to add the Ubuntu Rom which still posed no problems, the internal booted well but obviously I needed a Kexec patch Kernal to actually boot the Ubuntu image.
Once I flashed the custom Kernal though, the internal would not boot, getting stuck on a black screen.
The Ubuntu rom would attempt to start but get stuck on the Google logo.
Please excuse my complete noobiness, this is literally my first post here and I've only had this tablet for approximately a month or so.
Is anyone having a similar or the same problem, and is there any solution? Thank you so much.
If you've actually read to this point I love you lol
It's related to the patched kernel (I guess), it won't boot my CM10.2 rom, too. It's also mentioned in the CM10.2 thread that ROMs from 09/25 won't boot with the included kernel. You can use the 1.6 beta ElementalX kernel which has the needed patches included, (didn't tested it), wait for an updated (patched) CM kernel, or use a stock based rom as primary rom, the patched stock kernel boots fine. You only have to flash back your working kernel, make backup in TWRP, install any stock based rom, (Full-Wipe), flash patched stock kernel, add rom (Backup), choose your backup. As far as I know, any other system as Android isn't available(working?) ATM, that's the reason you can't boot Ubuntu.
Edit:
ElementalX 1.6 Beta working fine

I'm really sorry I can't be of help, but where did you get the Ubuntu download?
Regardless of your kernel's problems :
Ubuntu will not work on your tablet. It does not have yet the requiered drivers, and I didn't see any team working on it.
Ubuntu touch has some experiments for the Flo version, but nothing that works, and nothing that can be released now, I think.
For a GNU/linux distro ROM, you'll have to wait or buy another device.

It's just the raring preinstall image, google it.
For everyone else, thank you all for giving me simple answers.
I'm going to try that kernal later.
I would thank you if I had any idea how

[Q] Carbon ROM and UBER Kernel Problem

As the title says:
Got a problem when flashing UBER 2 GHz on Carbon ROM. everything goes fine, then when the phone enters lock screen, phone.apk crashes. haven't installed google apps yet, and also use April 4 build of Carbon ROM. Any problems or AM I JUST LOOKING AT A COMPATIBILITY ERROR?
P.S.
Looked through the UBER Kernel Main Thread. Says you need TWRP 2.6.1.0 . I use TWRP 2.7.0.0. Is there anything wrong?
Thanks!

Pretty sure your issue is either you need GAPPS (all roms need GAPPS... unless they have it built in... if the install instrucitons say install gapps, install gapps. I am fairly confident that phone.apk is part of gapps.) OR UBER isn't compatible with Carbon.
Also, are you using the proper UBER for a KK ROM?

I was having the exact same problem, I've tried running it with uber many times so guessing it's an incompatibility. Uber's experimental Sabermod kernel is working okay with carbon though.
EDIT: Forgot to add that I did install gapps, and I'm also using TWRP 2.7.0.0.

Hi guys I did try it on my p601 and its ecelent
thought its easy just exported my modem on old p601 and tried to import it but I didnt make the trick
some other developer did mods for p601 then p600 maybe they can give a hint what else need to be done on a p601
ACTUALLY I use xkat 2.0 that developer did first an p601 and downgraded then a p600 version
would have no issue to use my device as p600 but get only internet by 3g
To get 3g to work requires a new device tree you can't just import your modem there will be a lot of files that need to call specific hard ware files, etc to get the 3g to work. I wish it was as simple as that

Does this Rom Have any Spen Support? Can anyone confirm?
cm12 how do i remove the mouse cursor?
As the question really. I am an artist and need to remove the onscreen mouse cursor when spen is used. I don't use an external mouse so dont mind losing it entirely.
Any ideas how?
Many thanks
My P600 will come in the mail within a few days.
I've spent a few days (4) reading through the forums before posting my very first questions on xda......
1. Is this rom based on RaymanFX 12/18 build?
2. Would clean flashing version RaymanFX 12/5 then dirty flashing Temasek's UNOFFICIAL CM12 BUILD fix the camera force close?

I don't have the camera issue,i dirty flashed like you are intending to.
Dirty flashing will fix the camera issue as in dirty flashing guy rom over raymanfx build or the nexus experience ... Some reason from source code the camera is not working. I want to build regular cm to check what portion I am missing (if any) of correct sources. I know what the error is from the logs however I fix one part and another crops up so I think there is something missing

Thanks!
I also think that this rom ir best of best.
Can anyone confirm pressure sensitivity is working? I cant find an answer, I read that spen is only a pointer so that does not work for drawing apps that use pressure?
My P600 came FedEx today and I'm ready to root and flash.
Should I update the device from P600UEUCNI1 to P600UEUCNK2 to get the latest KK recovery before I start? (if the 2 newer updates even makes changes to recovery).
I am getting the update prompt though it doesn't say which build.
The recovery shouldn't matter it will get flashed over with a twrp build anyway...
I am not up to date on the root ability of the newest bootloader as my device was rooted when I got it stock and I don't recall updating bootloader at any stage

your a bit hard to understand.
to flash it correctly you need to use odin and not the img flash tools, etc from the market. These tools can cause problems and can flash to the incorrect partition block for the device.
none of the TWRP zip files on their website ever seem to work for me, so i have also flashed these things manually because to many times i have been left with no recovery or back to stock recovery. Manual flash is always better.
you need an .img.tar file - here is the direct link from twrp website for lt03wifi (note 10.1 wifi only model) - https://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/lt03wifiue/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-lt03wifiue.img.tar
this needs to be flashed with odin, i would suggest read here first - http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...08-2013-odin-3-09-odin-1-85-versions-t2189539
within this there is a further guide on how to use odin, the link of odin iteself can be obtained here - http://www.andromint.com/download-odin-latest-version/

I'll try to be clearer.
Actuallynit's the forst time I'm trying to work with roms etc. Actually I feel a little lost. I managed to install Odin on my computer (tried 3.09 version) managed to root my device. But the problems that I have occur from there. What do you meam by manually flash your rom, why do ypu ask to use tpwr if you tell me now it never works. And where do I need to download the cyanogenmod's rom file? On mu tablet, sd card or on my computer? I don't wan't to say this tutorial how to get the cm installed on ypur device is unclear, but as a newbie, I encountered some difficulties.
Thx for everything.
Ps. I took a looknon every link u sent me, but it didnt really help me.

Please re-read my previous post.
I did not say manually flash rom, i was talking about the RECOVERY which is the TWRP recovery by using ODIN.
Please have a good read through guides, if the ones i linked don't help you try googling, there are plenty others. There are videos on youtube showing how to flash files/recovery using odin.
Please read as much as you can before starting, because when it goes bad no one is going to be able to fix it for you. As much as it is at your own risk i wouldn't like to see someone's hard earned money turn into a paperweight.
Tell me please, working s-pen?
The GPS is not working for me on this rom, heres what I did...
Step 1:
I flashed TWRP 2.6.3.3 with Odin 3.10,
Made a backup with TWRP,
Cleared Cache,
Cleared Dalvik,
Cleared Data,
Flashed cm-12-20141205,
Flashed gapps,
Flashed SuperSU,
Restarted to UI.... GPS Test Works, so does Navigation.
Step 2:
Flashed cm-12-20141218,
Flashed gapps,
Flashed SuperSU,
Restarted to UI.... GPS Test Works, so does Navigation.
Made a backup with TWRP,
Step 3:
Flashed cm-12-20150104 v4.2,
Flashed gapps,
Flashed SuperSU,
Restarted to UI.... GPS Test does not work, neither does Navigation
Also tried "Step 3" with cm-12-20150103 v4.0 AND cm-12-20141231 v3.8 with the same result.
THIS ROM ROCKS! VERY SMOOTH AND FAST!!
Could this be a simple fix? did I take any incorrect steps?
