I will admit that I am old school - the first computer on which I worked had only 10 kB of RAM - seriously! Thus, I am always irked when I see unneeded programs consuming resources.
Anyway, using Gemini App Manager of my stock rooted phone, I have found that there are scads of running programs, many of which I do not care about, and many of these programs are set to autorun. Obviously, autorun can be turned off for most apps that I installed, however, are there stock programs for which autorun can also be safely turned off?
Thanks.

Hi
I have my dash on 6.1
and after a while it starts to get laggy or really slow
any ideas what to do?
Off and On again
You can either restart as the phone tends to build up in the amount of programs being opened, or you can always click the tzones button and it will direct you to the task manager where u can close programs to make the phone less laggy...
Install (and then purchase) Celetask. Best darn task manager around and with its 'free memory' tool I can keep my dash at 18MB free program memory all day
You should also get SKTools, clean out the Notification Que once in a while.. that slows down the Dash as well.

Celetask does not need to be purchased as it comes with the new 6.1 rom remade by Ricky... version 24...
i have celetask and free memory but still not running that smooth
there have been times where the phone just locks up and ihave to pull the battery out.
any other ideas why?
running winmo6.1
can be due to the fact that my phone is actively sync to exchange server??

maybe cause it's actively synced to your gayness level, and it overloads the phone
jk, from my experience, whenever i install cabs, my phone ends up slowing down alot faster than a reflash without any cabs. maybe you could reflash and only install the cabs you need?
if not, then try restarting the phone often, cause its like those old computers we used to use back in the day where a restart was almost necessary every day
also, clearing the mass amounts of text messages (and deleting them from the trash) makes my dash faster

Agree just try restarting it once a day as well as clearing up the texts... Also run SKTools in order to clean up and free some bytes... You can find the link to download SKTools below in the programs for smartphone... Just download the lite version okay if you would like... I also have the other version but read the readme file for that version...
Hi all.. Has anyone noticed any difference on the way android treats running apps and memory after froyo upgrade?
I hv been using SystemPanel Lite (by NextApp Inc) as from the first days of my Desire (April); actually not as a task-killer but for monitoring system, running apps/services and memory. It shows apps that are running and visible, running in the background and those that are inactive at the moment.
Before froyo, there were fewer apps running in the background, and most of the apps that were opened by me or activated automatically by OS were in "inactive" status. Now -after froyo- there is almost no any apps/services that are reported as inactive (?); all of them (appr 41 apps/services right now!) are running in the background, some of them (14 pcs) third party apps which were installed from the market, all the rest are android or HTC system apps/services, and no any single app seen in "inactive" at the present.
(My device is unrooted, generic HTC Desire with official froyo)
I noticed that too, but I think it could be just down to some way the systempanel reads application state or some formal changes.
Me, too. I also noticed (ironcally) that several google apps seem less stable than before. I also had to do a soft reset as the only way to force close the FM Radio. Companionlink synching hasn't been the same, either, occasionally clearing all the data and starting from zero - very annoying when you have 1200 contacts...
But improved reception on phone and wi-fi have made up for all that.

Hello.
I am having trouble with some apps, like Maps, Music, etc. that are auto-starting every time i try to disable them.
I don't need them. For example i don't need maps to run constantly on my phone. When i'll need it, i will open it, and after i am done with it, i will close it.
Is there any app that lets me edit these things ?
Thats is how android works..those apps are not running at all..are there just ready to be used..
Sent from my HTC Desire
But, why they're listed as running apps ?
download and use android optimizer
download an appcalled autostarts from the market, it scans the phone and tells you everything that auto starts, then you simply disable it. and thats it, dead easy.

Download SystemPanelApp which is an excellent task and process manager which provides information about CPU, Ram, Internal storage and much more plus shows the status of a running application. The apps you mention are all background apps which run in the background but are not actually doing anything therefore use no CPU, battery etc...
One thing I learned from Maps is to stay signed out of Latitude. Maps still runs in the background but it doesn't use up the battery or keep the phone in an awake state (while screen is off) anymore.
Anyone notice some apps are slow to load certain things. Engadget takes forever to load anything while Facebook takes as long to load images. When I originally installed these apps, they ran fine. I did disable some bloat ware and think that maybe the culprit. I re enabled some without change and going to re enable more.

So as one can see, i got a lot of apps on my device and since device care couldn't come with the option to select all for adding apps to put to sleep, it's an extreme headache. As you can see from the screenshots, i get this message like once a month or so and it changes all my sleeping apps list and adds them to deep sleeping which I don't want. Is there a way to disable this thing?
Putting apps to sleep ie using any power management can cause erratic behavior even more battery usage.
Start by using Karma Firewall (Playstore) to lock it down as needed and PD MDM to disable the apks that are causing trouble.
Home - Package Disabler
The only NON-root solution that let’s you disable any unwanted packages that come pre-installed / installed with your phone / tablet.

Can you elaborate please? I used to use greenify ages back but that isn't supported anymore. I am okay with device care, i just want it to stop checking for non used apps itself, cause i did it all manually and don't need apps to be added to any list automatically

You don't have to use Device Care, if you should be able to disable after you pick the power setting and enable fast charging, those changes will still remain in force.
I'm running on Pie and have a earier, more user friendly version of Device Care on my 10+.
Q and especially 11 are going to be major headaches. The logging feature on Karma Firewall is disabled by them I believe.
It still will block internet connections but you can't monitor what app and how many times it is accessing the internet like I can on Pie.
There may be a ADB workaround, not sure.
Sorry but Q and above are bloody nightmares...
