Today my device started to get a bit slow so I decided to reboot the phone in a regular way which means:
Press and maintain power button
Select reboot
Wait until phone reboot completely
After this, when the phone rebooted, the touchscreen didn't work anymore. I can use the power button and volume buttons, but the screen is not responding.
I've removed the battery, turned on the phone and nothing. I can't even use the recovery as it's a touch recovery.
Is there anything I can do to restore the touch?
I've preordered the HTC One, however, it will not be delivered until the end of the month.
I will try to take the device to service tomorrow, however, I would love to get my phone back.
Now, can this be a battery issue? (as a friend of mine had the issue with the flash rebooting the phone because of a faulted battery)
I'm searching at google and in the forum to find anything, but I can't find any information about this.
I haven't dropped the phone, I haven't touched anything or forced anything.
I hope some one can help me.
PS: Where can I find a non touch recovery??? that way, I will be able to generate a nandroid backup, flash my nandroid on the Desire HD of a friend and backup all my apps from there until I get the HTC One. Please note that I will have to flash the recovery manually through a notebook as I'm unable to do this because of the non responsive touch screen.
Thank you very much to everyone in advance.
Best Regards.
ClockworkMod has a non-touch version. Download the image and flash it from fastboot. http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager. It's probably not a battery problem. It's probably a hardware problem.

Dammit, I was hoping there was a way to restore the touch screen functionality. I will take the device tomorrow to a center and see if they can do anything.
Thank mate =)... Hopefully someone has an idea on what to do in the meantime. Tonight I will create a nandroid backup.
same problem here...
rebooted the DHD and after that the touchscreen was dead. no dropping the phone, no nothing.
i tried to flash a different rom... still no touchfunction. how can that be a hardware failure???
any ideas? i really like my DHD...
hi guys,
did you manage to repair your touch screens? or did you identify the problem?
thanks.

Hello Everyone,
I have HTC SPRINT TOUCH PRO 2 PHONE.
I was updating the RADIO version on my phone and after it installed the device went to REBOOT and it never opened again and it doesn't goto the boot loader. The only reaction that the phone does is when i put it to charge the red light turn on.
I have tried hard/soft Reset, and nothing have worked.
PLEASE, DOES ANYONE CAN EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED ?? OR What can I do ??
Thank you for your answer in advance.
could be a battery issue, seems like its not holding a charge. Go to a store and try a new battery?
Sorry, but it sounds like you bricked your device. I'm guessing you flashed a radio not made for your device, like a GSM radio. If you can't access the bootloader, then I'd say you probably need to get your device replaced under warranty (by going to the store you bought it from and playing dumb about why it won't work so they'll replace it) or send it to HTC and pay to get it replaced.
try to reflash back to the stock rom...download and use the sprint exe on this page to do so...http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=91940
ive had this happen and this was the only way to get it working again
Thank you everyone for trying to help, I will try to reflash the stock ROM and hopefully it works otherwise I will send it to HTC since i dont have warranty.
Ok so I tried to install a ROM using the ROM manager. My phone is rooted with Super user permissions on.
Anyway I waited about 30 minuted, the phone cycled on and off, and then just hung in the off position.
I could see that the USB charging light was on. I tried to hit the power button but all t hat came on was the bottom keys (they light up but nothing else) I removed the battery and put it back in, tried to reboor and the phone just got stuck on the HTC screen. (the first one)
I can get into the boot loader (holding power and down) but when I am in there I try to go to recovery and it just hangs in the HTC screen again. I tried plugging it into the usb and trying this but more of the same.
Any advice? Yes I have read some of the threads but I am a pretty new user and pretty nervous at the moment at the thought of having bricked this phone.
Thanks for any advice,
Phil
Also the info I get on the bootloader screen is as follows
BRAVO PVT3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.83.00001
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL SYNT0101
Radio 5.09.00.08
Jun 10 2010
Then of course HBoot
I just want to add one more detail. I have tried Fake Flash. I put it onto my SD card and tried to boot into recovery. Again I get to the boot loader but when I click on Recovery the phone simply goes to the HTC screen and hangs there. Then it will either stay in that screen or turn off depending on who knows.
Also I tried formatting a new SD card I had lying around into Fat 32 and then putting fake flash on it and trying to boot with that. Same result.
Again gents, I have read the posts and have tried everything I have listed above so any advice or expertise would be more than welcome. Luckily I am still with in my 14 day return to store no questions asked time frame, but I'd really like to try to resolve this problem.
Thanks!!
I had that problem too. The only way to fix it was to wipe data.
Anyways flash this custom image see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748618
The problem is our devices are SLCD whereas rom manager and clockwork is made for AMOLED.
Goodluck and this will fix it
mfpreach's advice should help you. Just want to say that you can flash without going into recovery, look for PB99IMG.zip in this forum...
I've got the same problem but with an amoled desire - just gets stuck at htc logo - wrote about it here with no help really: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747775
Can't enter recovery & tried official RUU with no success - i'm gonna send mine off for repair i think - didn't know you could flash without recovery though - might give that a go first.
Just managed to fix my phone! See my thread for the solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7548991
Thank you so MUCH!!!!
This absolutly worked! I was able to enter recovery and restore my old image. I didn't even lose any of my info.
Ok so just to clear this up, are there different ROMS for different screens?
Where did I go wrong? Is my ROM Manager the wrong one?

No the ROMs are the same - i think it must have been some random corruption - i also use ROM manager so may be related to that.
Once you are rooted you can flash ROMS regardless of screen type.
What i do is just put the rom zip on my sdcard & then boot into clockworkmod recovery manually and flash the zip from that instead of using ROM manager.
So when u say u boot into cloookwork, do u mean that u boot into the bootloader? I am not sure I 100% understand.

Hi guys, need some help if possible.
My phone is stuck on the bootloader screen and the up and down buttons are not working so I can choose the option to reboot the phone.
1- I was running MIUI for a while now and I was just listening to Music and suddenly the phone just rebooted and got stuck on the bootloader screen, this is what I tried so far, any help will be appreciated.
2- I tried removing the battery and booting into recovery and the Up and Down button still don't work so I couldn't pick up the option to reboot phone.
3- I ran the PB31IMG Stock zip to go back to stock and after doing the update when is time for the phone to reboot, instead of rebooting it goes back to the bootloader.
Thanks in advance.
If anybody know the command for the SDK to reboot the phone, I think that'll help too.
If the +/- volume buttons don't work at all, I think you're screwed. I don't know of another way to navigate the fastboot screen
Do you have S-off?
Can you load an ruu thru the pc? Not sure if that will help or not.

Guys thanks, I took my phone to Verizon to get a replacement since the phone was Bricked but after I order my replacement the freaking phone turned on again, now I have a choice to make, keep my original phone or keep the Refurbished one they're sending me, thanks again.
I did have S-off.
Well most likely the one you got sent to you is an SLCD model, and you probably have an AMOLED. IMO I would keep the AMOLED, but i'm not sure that you can keep it. I think you have to send in your original.
And since you can turn it on, make sure to flash S-ON and flash it back to stock.

Thanks, I already flash the phone back to stock, I think the rep said I'll be getting the same phone with the AMOLED screen since that's what I got, we'll see when I get the phone tomorrow.
In the mean I'm gonna play with the original one, rooted again and see what happens after I install another Rom.
Background Info
So, my DHD had a problem with the mic so I sent it to a local mobile phone store to see if they could repair it. After 3 weeks, they called me and told me there was nothing that could be done since the mic was in the motherboard and they can't change that.
I got my phone yesterday and and noticed traces and dents from using a normal screwdriver to open the led case. Apart from that and the fact that they took 3 weeks to repair nothing, everything else was ok. However, I had a custom ROM installed and when I got it, they had installed a new one whose name I can't remember ("something"-revolution maybe).
Actual problem:
It worked fine for a night but the next day, I couldnt move the ring to unlock the screen. I restarted it,k tried without sd card or sim, changed batteries and nothing. I just freezes in the "Insert pin code" screen and won't let me input anything.
I had CWR but it seems they deleted it and now I have 4ext which can only be used with touch input which doesn't even work in 4ext. (The volume and power buttons work fine).
Final thoughts
What can I do? Since there is no way I can use 4ext or anything in order to factory reset...
I am really mad at the store which f***ed up my phone but I am traveling next week and I really need my phone.
Anything I could do to factory reset?
Thanks in advance
I don't know how this works against the rules, but would it be okay to post that store's name so that others can avoid it? It sounds like they are not trained for this type of repair. I would hate for others to find out the hard way as you did.
Store
Oh, don't worry. I live in Spain and they only work nationally so I guess you don't have to worry about it. But the name of the store: MovilCom
If I understand you correctly your phone is rooted and you can access 4ext recovery? If so:
Download one of the custom roms from the development forum, there are a lot of good roms but I recommend Android Revolution HD if you are a beginner.
Place the rom file on your sd card.
Enter recovery by holding down the volume down button and pressing the power button when the phone is off.
Select the option to do a full wipe.
Select install from sd card, look for the rom file you downloaded and install. It should work now.
NOTE: this will erase all the content from your phone and give you a fresh rom install.
That won't work

I tried doing that but I can't use 4ext since the touch screen doesn't seem to respond. Before, I hade CW and I could have probabbly flashed a ROM already but as I said, the screen appears to be responseless in 4ext and in normal boot (I can't even input my pin code)
No solution...
So, I downloaded a RUU.exe from a stock Gingerbread version with Sense 2.0 (The unlicking system is the old slide down to unlock bar, not the ring) and the problem remains. When I bot, the touch screen is completeley response less. What can this be?
I am beginning to think this might actually have something to do with hardware? Maybe some wire is lose?
Thanks in advance

First, I suggest you remove the battery for a few seconds. Then replace it and immediately push and hold the Send and End hardware keys on the front of your device then while holding those down push and hold the power button until the message shows on the screen saying to factory reset your device and follow the instructions to factory reset/hard reset.
If your device won't boot after that you probably need to run task29 then reflash your rom.

I have a question related to this device. I had put some sort of device lock on my touchpro 2. This was a long time ago, and I am now on an EVO 4G. However, I decided to keep the touchpro 2 as a backup device. I know i was running a non stock rom (as I flash pretty much all phones i get). The question is, will the method used above work in my case? Can I get past the lockscreen by using the steps above? Please let me know, as I just want to have the phone usable for the furture. I would as sprint, but as it is not activated and has a non stock rom on it, i doubt highly that they will be of any help. Please assist, as almost all forums on this model seem dead.
Thanks,
Andrew

The hardware sequences are the same whether you're on stock or not... Good luck.

I guess my question is not so much geared at if the button combination will initiate a hard reset, but more on the effect of the hard reset itself. What I mean, is will it revert to stock if I have another rom flashed? I only ask this because in other instances where I had a non stock rom, and i wanted to revert to stock to take into sprint, I always had to flash a stock rom and never even thought a hard reset would return to fresh out the box state. Unless I am missing something, I am guessing that a hard reset resets the device to whatever it was initially flashed to. For example, if in flashing rom B you made backup of rom A (which would include its settings), then if you chose to restore to the backup you created, I am thinking that that restore point becomes your point at which the hard reset will bring you to. (if that makes sense). In other words, you will never go back to stock off a hard reset, but you can go to a fresh version of the rom you flashed, or in my case, probably a backup i created which has the damn security pin already enabled. I will give the hard reset a shot once i get back home, but i am thinking that it may be a lost cause do to system backups created and restored to.

Oh, ok. No, it will go back to a fresh flash of whatever ROM you're on. It will NOT flash you back to stock, unless of course you're already on a stock ROM.
Like I said, it just wipes the phone and starts back from when you initially flashed that device. If you want it to go back to stock, you have to reflash stock. If you want to relock the device (undo hSPL) then you have to relock it - but be warned, you won't be able to unlock it again.

As said, when you hard reset/clear storage your device all changes since the device was flashed are cleared and everything is reset to the clean condition right after the currently loaded rom had been flashed so basically everything is reset back to the way it was immediately after you flashed your current rom.
To revert back to the shipped state you have to flash the shipped rom.
