How to clear Google maps search history on HTC One X - HTC One X

Ok I know to clear data from an app such as Google maps it should be Settings > Apps > Maps > Clear data but this just doesn't clear my Google maps search history.
It's very annoying I have 6 searched places in my search that I just can't get rid of. I have even re-flashed fresh my ROM being Android Revolution HD and the search history from previous is still there.
Has anyone come across this or know of a solution?

Log in to google maps on your computer with the same account on your phone.
Click on my places and it should come up with a list of where you searched. Click on the little arrow next to the place and then hit delete.
Once your done go into settings and sync your google account on your phone and it will get rid of the places.
Hope it helps

Hi thanks but I logged into my Google maps from the same account from a desktop and none of the places in my Google maps search history were showing. All the same I deleted my history from Google maps from my desktop and synchronized but the history is still showing on my HTC One X.
I now have disabled Google search from my desktop and synchronized again and still the same history is showing on my HTC One X.
Its as if the search history is permanent on my HTC One X.
Would there be any specific file on my HTC One X that I could possibly delete with say root explorer where it could be remembering maps search history from???

It worked for me. I dont use google desktop.
The only other thing i can suggest is that you download history eraser and try to clear it that way.

I just tried with history eraser even that didn't work hmmm.
Something I notice is when logged into Google maps on a desktop in the search bar I can see these searches when clicking on the grey arrow on the right but going into delete history and clearing all doesn't get rid of them maybe this is a Google bug? I have also cleaned my desktop browser's with Ccleaner but these searches are still there in Google maps.
Edit: Just further to say I have tried Chrome in Incognito mode and the searches still appear so this can't be a browser cache or cookies issue. Really not sure how to resolve this....

Sorry im out of ideas. Maybe contact google if they can help.

It was Google - after clearing history from desktop it appears to take time before everything is erased even after syncing from phone.
Now those pesky searches that I couldn't get rid of have magically disappeared

Nice one

How to delete Google Maps search history

Everytime I hit search in Google Maps, a long list of previous searches appears.
Anyone know how to prevent this?
I've checked settings and couldn't find anything.
Not only to prevent it but couldn't delete any search entry's.

Does deleting maps app data from settings>apps do it?

I'd like to know this as well. I don't even know where its pulling it from, I'm seeing things I don't think I've ever searched for (but maybe I have).
I've tried clearing cache and clearing search history...no go...
edit: Okay, so I cleared web search history by going to maps.google.com on a desktop and clearing that history and turning off Web Search History permanently.
However, it still pops up a number of searches, which turns out are Personalized recommendations (creepy). And unfortunately, it doesn't appear there is any way to turn that off on the phone (you can turn it off on the browser by adding &pws=0 to the query string parameters).
I've had a few customers come in before on other droids asking how to do this. Going into manage apps and clearing data for maps or navigation usually did it

That's still an inconvenient way. There should be an option to disable that

I am wondering how to overcome this too.

[Q] Cannot see One X on play.google.com!

Hi,
I have a One X, 1.28, unlocked&rooted, logged into Google Play on both the device and play.google.com with the same account, saw my apps on play.google.com and on the device, but the One X is not listed on play.google.com/store/account . Anyone else having the same problem?
Cheers,

Remove your Google account from Accounts and Sync and try again.

Thanks, tried that, re-added my account, but no luck. My phone is still not visible from play.google.com, nor does Google Talk work (doesn't show any contacts).
Found the solution: Clear data/cache of Google Play and Google framework services and restart.
this is not working for me But I didnt find it in "list of Supported Devices"
Your phone or tablet isn’t a supported device. There is no way to manually add your phone or tablet to the device list on play.google.com, and you will not be able to use the Google Play website.

I hope this is temporary

Got the same official response from HTC. Try deleting data of Google Play, Google Talk and Google Services framework, then restart the phone. Took ~1 day for the One X to show up on play.google.com though.
same for me. dont see one x on google.play
Works fine for me. Unbranded One X
Hi guys,
Ever since getting my HTC One X I've had this problem. I spent absolutely hours trying to sort this out and even posted a thread on here however it didn't seem to get any replies or anything, so I was left to solve the issue myself.
People that have this issue, typically experience the issue with the 'Play Store' too. If you try updating a stock installed application such as 'Street View' you get an error message about it not being currently available and being processed later. I spent hours messing about with this, and it turns out the issue is with the accounts!
Remove all your accounts, Google, Facebook ect, especially your HTC account. Clear all the data & cache from the Google Play Store, Framework Services ect. Set up your Google account first and open the Play Store, accept the terms and conditions ect. Go to 'My Apps' and it should have nothing listed. Set up your HTC account then go back to the 'My Apps' section of the 'Play Store' and you should have updates available. If you don't, re-do the steps stated above, however set up your HTC account before the Google account and remember, WIPE DATA!
Tell me if this works guys

This only happens if you have no internet connection (duh!) or have pending downloads on your account associated with another device. It shouldn't be the issue here, as the pending downloads time-out after a certain amount of time

Chrome to Phone

Anyone who use Chrome to Phone have issues getting Google Maps sent from laptop to open with the Maps app on my phone
Anytime I send it from my laptop it wants to open the directions in a browser
I cant remember when I used it last but I used to be able to open the links directly in my Maps app
It could have been when had the HTC Desire and not my Galaxy Nexus
clear defaults in browser/maps and try again? might have accidentally selected the browser as the default app for Maps links.
and clear cache and data for Chrome to Phone too. i just tried it and it automatically opens maps for me, doesnt even give me the option to pic browser.

I cleared default settings in the original Nexus browser but when I send links from Maps on my laptop it still just prompts me to choose which browser I want to open the link with
I dont get to choose Maps, just get to choose one of my 4 browsers
I have just noted that if I try and send directions from maps.google.ie on my laptop it will only open in a browser. If I send directions from maps.google.com then I can open them in Google Maps

Deleting Map searches??

Just wondering if anybody can tell me how to clear the most recent searches in Maps. I have wiped data, and cache for Maps. I have deleted my web and search history both from the phone and on the computer. I have also cleared all the local search cache from the accounts menu. If I go to My Places it shows no recent searches.
However when I do a search in Maps it still shows me the last ten things I have searched for. Any ideas would be helpfull.
Edit: If I switch to a different google account in the map settings the latest searches go away. If I switch back to the main account they come right back.
TIA

[Q] no on-device search history

The other day I did a hard reset. All is back to normal with the exception of one thing. I no longer have a search history on the phone. When I click the search bar at the top of the home screen, none of my past searches are there. When I go into the search settings, the "clear on-device search history" is greyed out.
I do have my google account set to have my web history paused, but I don't think that is the same as my search history on my phone.
Is there a setting that I'm overlooking that needs to be turned on or off? I 've looking everywhere on the phone I can think of and no luk. I know it did save my searches before the reset.
Side note: I noticed that the google search app is no longer in the play store when I search for it via the phone, but it's installed on the phone. I do know that my tablet running official jelly bean does have search history and the search app shows up on the play store with that device.
Thanks for the help.
