What's the error when you tried to flash the recovery?
However, use this command: "fastboot getvar version-main" and with this you can found your ruu here.
And, finally, your correct section is this...

I accidentally flashed recovery to boot portion. ie
HTML:
fastboot flash boot twrp.img
instead of
HTML:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
.
Then I also flashed recovery to recovery portion thinking that I can boot into recovery.
But now my phone boots and stays at twrp logo.
Even when I try to boot into recovery the same twrp logo nothing happens.

You need (When 1x is connected to PC and "Fastboot USB" is displayed on 1x:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
recovery.img has to be the correct filename of your recovery, and the file has to be in the same folder where fastboot.exe is.
Then
Code:
fastboot erase cache

@Op, as I can see in your post your are still able to use fastboot usb.
Hopefully you still have the correct InsertCoin rom version.zip?
Attached the ADB Tools.zip, extract and place it somewhere you can find on your desktop (C:\Fastboot\ would be fine)
Extract 'InsertCoin rom version.zip' and take boot.img out.
Place the boot.img into C:\Fastboot\boot.img
Download clockworkmodrecovery.img from >> HERE and place it in that folder as well
In the folder I've placed a shortcut to CMD window, klick on it to open.
Now type the following:
Fastboot flash boot boot.img [Enter]
Fastboot flash recovery 'nameofrecovery.img' [Enter]
Fastboot erase cache [Enter]
Hopefully you are now able to come in CWM recovery, good luck!

oh alright. How can i unlock it? and will i lose my data?
Hmm. To have used custom firmware I'm sure you must have done this already.
Anyway. You need to sign up at HTC dev and follow the instructions there. They're quite detailed. After you've done that follow the previous instructions, they were really clear and will work with unlocked boot loader.
http://htcdev.com/bootloader/
--You don't lose data, but if there's anything super important on your external SD it's always best practice to backup.
(after you've installed CWM recvoery, do a backup using that. VERY important)
---forgot to mention: You need to pick "all other supported models" (The one x isn't listed, but it works fine).
OK Thanks for all your help guys. I really appreciate it. Ill post back if something goes wrong and again Thanks
But then how was he able to boot insertcoin when his bootloader is relocked?

Haha I have no idea. I can only assume that it he relocked it after messing around.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
It could be relocked after he flashed InsertCoin and the rom would still boot.
Only problem he has then is that he can't get into CWM recovery and that's what he's complaining about I think.

Right here goes!
I've scoured the threads and I think I've tried everything so far to solve my problem, but still to no avail!
I woke up one morning and my phone was in hboot, wasn't plugged in, and was unresponsive. I tried charging but it wouldn't take it. I'm running stock JB 4.1 via OTA from Vodafone (UK). I had a new battery, and managed to replace the old one. I checked the old one and it had 2.8v output with the new one being 3.8V. I then ran that .bat file to loop the phone in a sort of charge mode to make sure I had sufficient charge. Phone still wouldn't boot. I then tried to do various things listed on this forum, but still have same symptoms. I just need the damn thing to work!
My current version is 3.14.161.27, an I managed to find this RUU. Download consisted of boot.img, rcdata.img and recovery.img
I'm in CMD....with the phone in unlocked mode connected via fastboot usb. Clear chache, run the boot.img and then I run hboot_1.36.0000_.img but error comes up saying cannot load 'hboot_1.36.0000_.img' : unknown error
If i re-lock the phone and do the same thing I get access not allowed in cmd.
what am I doing wrong here? any ideas? I can't find a .exe file for my original ROM either.
recovery doesn't work...just hangs on the HTC screen. factory reset doesn't work wither, same thing happens
I would be happy to try a custom ROM or anything that might get the phone booting again.
Please point me in a 'direction' or offer some help, I will be very grateful!

Did you use that to upgrade the hboot ! After upgrading the hboot you can reflash a custom recovery
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
Enter recovery and perform a full wipe, then mount the sdcard as a usb mass storage device and copy the rom.zip over .... flash the boot.img in fastboot
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Enter recovery and install the rom.zip

my hboot was already version 1.36 so didn't need to. Flashed recovery, and erased cache. CMD...saying successful. Then I unplug usb and go into recovery...but still it just hangs on the HTC screen.

The recovery has to be without spaces. Change it to just recovery.img

Thank's for your time on this issue. I've tried every trick in the book and had to give up. I'm putting it down to some hardware issue. I have another phone on the way via insurance, but gutted I couldn't get my data back! learnt my lesson...back everything up regularly!
Thanks again
If this has been answered elsewhere I'm sorry but I can't find the answer. I've unlocked the bootloader on my HTC One X. Flashed Clockwork Mod and I can get in to recovery. I then tried to install Cyanogenmod from the SD card and that ran and said it had completed. But, when I reboot it sticks on the HTC quietly brilliant screen and goes no further! Any ideas if there is anything I can do other than go back. If I need to go back, where do I get the RUU? I'm in the UK and it says Hboot 1.38 if that helps on the Fastboot screen.
Spent 3 evenings now trying to root this phone. Not easy

Well none of the above suggestions worked! Can't mount the USB storage now to copy nandroid backup across, so I've relocked and am trying to get a RUU to try that!
Has anyone ever had these things sorted by a shop? Disappointed with myself for messing up but patience is running out now

Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache

Hi
I was running Insert Coin ROM 5.0-6 and wanted to change top AOSPA KitKat 4.0 BETA3. I followed the instructions to flash the new boot Image, then wipe fastboot cache, Im using TWRP 2.6.3.0 to install the zip but I keep getting failed at the update partition details.
Anything I can do to fix this?
I tried re flashing the insert coin boot image and restoring a backup and reinstalling insert coin but none of the roms seem to want to work now.

Is there a way I can push the zip to the SD and install from there from TWRP?
Coincidently I can reflash TWRP

You answered the recovery question yourself already in your OP, no not possible to flash a kittykat rom with twrp.....due to the errors you described earlier
Reflash the recovery again and enter it directly after you flashed via the bootloader. No reboot is needed.
Download this recovery, don't know if it's the exact same one that was linked already in here but worth a shot i guess
http://d-h.st/Ugy
Thanks
I tried the last recovery and no joy with that either. It just sits on the quietly brilliant screen. It seems the only recovery it accepts is TWRP.
Which is not much use at restoring any of my backups or installing the roms saved on the SD. Im wondering if the partition is messed up?
I tried running the stock RUU and that said it doesn't recognise the device.
Its been a while since I got things this messed up, Any more ideas?

Hi all. I'm a noob. So please dont laugh if i say something entirely stupid.
So recently i unlocked my Xperia Z1 and successfully flashed cwm and installed cyanogenmod onto it.
So i tried to do that to my HTC one X international (bought in Germany) too.
I forgot to enable usb debugging
First I went to fastboot and flashed the boot.img by typing: fastboot flash boot boot.img
Then I went to recovery but it showed twrp instead. (I installed twrp earlier but it didnt flash the rom i wanted it to)
Somehow i just dont like twrp because of earlier failures and I didnt even tried to use it again (stupid move)
so i flashed cwm found on their site for international HTC one X instead of AT&T (mine should be international, right?)
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
And the recovery just didnt work. And when i tried to boot it just showed the HTC logo
When I tried to load recovery it just showed black screen.
I tried to flash twrp again but it doesnt work.
even though every time on the command promt it showed "success"
---------------OK I just solved the problem------------------------

thats the exact recovery i used. I downloaded from the cyanogemmod tutorial page http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_endeavoru
I'm charging the phone to 3680mV with this .bat i found
I think only the logo showed last time is because of low battery, but im not sure
Same reason. I attempted to install Android 4.2.2 after I did a reboot system, then, the bootloader screen into a HTC logo with Beats Audio at the bottom. It's stuck and waiting in more than 4-20 hours.
The phone is actually 2 years old, passed from my older brother and it became a second hand device. It did well in 4.1.1.
