Hi
I was running Insert Coin ROM 5.0-6 and wanted to change top AOSPA KitKat 4.0 BETA3. I followed the instructions to flash the new boot Image, then wipe fastboot cache, Im using TWRP 2.6.3.0 to install the zip but I keep getting failed at the update partition details.
Anything I can do to fix this?
I tried re flashing the insert coin boot image and restoring a backup and reinstalling insert coin but none of the roms seem to want to work now.
Help.

Thanks again, but I have also tried that too. DO I need to reboot many times before the recovery kicks in? I downloaded the recovery for endeavour.
Is there a way I can push the zip to the SD and install from there from TWRP?
Coincidently I can reflash TWRP
Thanks

You answered the recovery question yourself already in your OP, no not possible to flash a kittykat rom with twrp.....due to the errors you described earlier
Reflash the recovery again and enter it directly after you flashed via the bootloader. No reboot is needed.
Download this recovery, don't know if it's the exact same one that was linked already in here but worth a shot i guess
http://d-h.st/Ugy
Thanks
I tried the last recovery and no joy with that either. It just sits on the quietly brilliant screen. It seems the only recovery it accepts is TWRP.
Which is not much use at restoring any of my backups or installing the roms saved on the SD. Im wondering if the partition is messed up?
I tried running the stock RUU and that said it doesn't recognise the device.
Its been a while since I got things this messed up, Any more ideas?
Cheers

You have a hox +. Do not flash anything from this section. Go to the hox+ forum and get the proper downloads (roms and recoverys) from there asap

I've done it again. I think I need to be stopped! lol
I had a perfectly fine phone running the original orange 4.1.1 software. I decided to root it or something and now I'm stuck on the white intro screen.
I can get into the hboot or whatever it's called by holding down power and vol down, but once in there everything I try just takes me back to the white screen.
Factory reset just takes me back to white screen
Recovery shows me a pic of my phone with a green arrow, then a red warning sign. Sometimes from there I can get into recovery (of sorts), but theres nowhere there for me to restore my backups
Any ideas? Thanks in advance

read it all the way through and follow all instructions, its a bit daunting at first.you can either use adb or there are a couple of tools on the dev page..
Hmm. I've been out for a few hours, left it on charge as when I tried the RUU it said I didn't have enough power. Now it wont start up at all....
They're is a thread somewhere that covers this problem,do a search for low battery stuck in recovery.

Excellent, it looks like I can now charge my phone. Hopefully once it's charged a while I can flash on a new RUU
HI all, I'm hoping I'm on the end stretch now lol..
I have a fully charged phone, but tried to install the RUU but it wasn't having any of it, saying that it was the incorrect version. I have the latest that was on the page (was about a month old) it's saying my image version is 3.16.61.6 and it wants to change it to 1.28.061.9, but then it can't
Any ideas? Cheers
Do these fastboot commands
Fastboot oem readcid
Fastboot getvar version-main
Post them here please
readcid - orang001
version main - 3.16.61.6
Thanks
Yes you need a ruu or a nandroid backup that starts with 3.16 with and orange cid ! You tried to downgrade he hboot with an older ruu and that is impossible due to not having S-OFF ......
I found this on another page, will that work do you think?

Great stuff, do I still need to do all wiping and flashing of boot?
Cheers for this, you've been a great help
Yes do a full wipe and flash the boot.img from the nandroid with fastboot ! You got lucky mate
Lets hope so
Finally downloaded the ruu, don't want to do it wrong. What commands do I need to type?
Cheers
Its not a ruu .... its a nandroid backup and its probably a .rar file ... Unpack it and put it on the phones sd card looking like this
Sdcard\clockworkmod\backup\time and date folder\backup files
Copy the boot.img from those backup files to the fastboot folder
Flash it in fastboot usb mode
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Enter the custom recovery and do a full wipe/factory reset and restore the nandroid backup from the menu backup & restore
Boot it up to see if its running !
Ah, see there's mu issue, the phone's still not getting past the HTC logo at the beginning. I can't get the backup on my phone can I?
Right here goes!
I've scoured the threads and I think I've tried everything so far to solve my problem, but still to no avail!
I woke up one morning and my phone was in hboot, wasn't plugged in, and was unresponsive. I tried charging but it wouldn't take it. I'm running stock JB 4.1 via OTA from Vodafone (UK). I had a new battery, and managed to replace the old one. I checked the old one and it had 2.8v output with the new one being 3.8V. I then ran that .bat file to loop the phone in a sort of charge mode to make sure I had sufficient charge. Phone still wouldn't boot. I then tried to do various things listed on this forum, but still have same symptoms. I just need the damn thing to work!
My current version is 3.14.161.27, an I managed to find this RUU. Download consisted of boot.img, rcdata.img and recovery.img
I'm in CMD....with the phone in unlocked mode connected via fastboot usb. Clear chache, run the boot.img and then I run hboot_1.36.0000_.img but error comes up saying cannot load 'hboot_1.36.0000_.img' : unknown error
If i re-lock the phone and do the same thing I get access not allowed in cmd.
what am I doing wrong here? any ideas? I can't find a .exe file for my original ROM either.
recovery doesn't work...just hangs on the HTC screen. factory reset doesn't work wither, same thing happens
I would be happy to try a custom ROM or anything that might get the phone booting again.
Please point me in a 'direction' or offer some help, I will be very grateful!

Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
Enter recovery and perform a full wipe, then mount the sdcard as a usb mass storage device and copy the rom.zip over .... flash the boot.img in fastboot
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Enter recovery and install the rom.zip

I accidentally flashed recovery to boot portion. ie
HTML:
fastboot flash boot twrp.img
instead of
HTML:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
.
Then I also flashed recovery to recovery portion thinking that I can boot into recovery.
But now my phone boots and stays at twrp logo.
Even when I try to boot into recovery the same twrp logo nothing happens.
Hi guys,
Is there a way to flash an unbranded (stock rom) into my orange branded htc one x? I want to remove all the bloatware, orange settings and splashscreens etc. so that it will be like a 'sim-free' handset.
I have 3 of these to do if they can be done.

Also, will that remove the statup 'carrier' logo?
If its in the splash screen then no, we can't reach that part of the memory. But all carrier apps won't be there.
Look in the android dev section - stickies - tuts and guides index
You need to learn how to use fastboot commands first. From what i can tell you have not much til no experience in that. So read up first on info otherwise you will end up like yuval111.......

Wait....you are confusing the bootloader with the recovery. Those are 2 different things.
Open the rom.zip and copy the boot.img to the fastboot folder on the pc.
Flash the boot.img with the phone in the bootloader
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Remove the usb cable and enter the recovery. Go to "mounts & storage" mount the sdcard as a mass storage device, wait 1 min and copy the rom.zip to the phones sdcard.
Unmount and perform a full wipe :
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced - wipe dalvik cache
Mounts & storage - format cache,data,system
Then install the 3.20.401 rom.zip
Reboot

Error message is normal because you have the usb connected. Without cable you won't get the message.
Second when you are in the bootloader do the command :
Fastboot erase cache
And you need to flash or boot a custom recovery !
Fastboot boot recovery.img
Or
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
The custom recovery has to be named "recovery.img" and be placed in the fastboot folder on the pc !
And what do you want to downgrade ?
Cache erased

Wow, thanks for such a quick answer.. sorry for not coming and thanking sooner...
Anyways.. I erased the Cache as recommended.
The reason why downgrade was because somewhere I read there are problems with rooting my phone on 4.2.2 so I thought downgrading to 4.1.1 would be adequate... Anyways recent research pushed me into believing it is not necessary...
Yeah, so anyway I've been looking for a custom recovery to use as you said...

Yeah, umm hello there again.
So I used the Cyanogenmod recovery in the end...
Anyways I let myself led by the guide posted by Thömy (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2583037)...
Everything went fine, I got the bootloader unlocked (before already), the recovery provided by ClockWorkMod, did a Data wipe, downloaded everything necessary, booted into Recovery... but when I got to flash the CM 11.0.zip (installing from the zip file in recovery) It failed..
So for no reason i decided to simply restart the phone and try whatever will I find then.. I haven't got past the white/green HTC screen though and I'm stuck at it... I can get back to recovery or the Bootloader, but nothing more, nothing less...
Any Idea?.. I'm struggling with it for a few hour now and feel lost

Use the Recovery that Mr Hofs gave you and flash the CM 11 package. Should work. CWM recovery sometimes gives you errors while flashing since you may have to modify the updater-script with-in the package to flash successful.
Nice, felt some progression

Use the Recovery that Mr Hofs gave you and flash the CM 11 package. Should work. CWM recovery sometimes gives you errors while flashing since you may have to modify the updater-script with-in the package to flash successful.

Cool :good:
So I used the Recovery from el Maestro and flashed the CM 11 package.
I got to a "Cyanogenmod" booting screen at which I'm stuck...
It updated some files but, that's all and the arrow wheel keeps spinning? any Idea?
btw: I'm really sorry if someone already had this problem,
I swear I spent hours looking for one, but when I found a similar one,
it wasn't really what I was looking for in the end
[EDIT] Also when I try to boot the system with the boot.img file included in cm-11 package, I'm not stuck on the Cyanogenmod screen but all the way back on the HTC logo screen again
Flashed the boot.img from the cm11 zip ?
Flash instead of Boot

Yes, I until now was directly booting "fastboot boot boot.img" with cmd on computer.
Now when I flashed it into the device, I cannot even get to the Cyanogenmod screen, hehe

The flash command should be "fastboot flash boot boot.img" are you sure you are doing it right?

yep Did it exactly this way ... It now behaves the same as when only booted with the boot.img :/
Did you perform a full wipe within the custom recovery before installing the cm zip ? Seems to me you forgot to wipe something !

Ok try this..
Assuming you already did a full nandroid backup, do the following:
1. Do a FULL wipe on your device.
2. Flash the ROM again
3. Reboot to bootloader
4. Flash the boot.img again
5. Reboot
6.Thank me if it works.
Should work, that's normally the steps I take when flashing ROM's and have never failed me.
If he flashes the boot.img alresdy its a wipe issue. Doesnt matter when you flash it because it's not going to be changed installing a rom or wiping partitions from within the recovery (definitely not on a s-on device)
6: kinda corny to mention that isn't it ! Bit of a desperate call for appreciation......not confident enough you need confirmation
Got past it!

I don't think it "kills to try" like I mentioned at the bottom that's how I usually do mines when am blocked by issues. and NO not desperate for appreciation either.
