Modified CWM image for Defy Mini - Defy General

Sometime it is handy to have tool which help us when we are not able to boot to normal image.
When this tool is in fact multitool it cannot be better.

I've tried to build cwm recovery with online tool http://builder.clockworkmod.com/
Although build was successful it was not very useful because there worked only keys
Volume Up and Volume Down for moving cursor and no key for selection.
Then I tried to replace recovery binary with binary from custom recovery of 2ndinit
for defy 2.3 and it seems that it was success (needed also change some configuration
files because partition layout is different). So here is it. Don't try to flash
it because you end up with soft bricked phone and need to reflash phone with RSD
lite with stock sbf file. Currently only usage is to boot it via fastboot when
phone in fastboot mode:
Code:
fastboot boot recovery-defymini.img
Maybe somebody will be able in the future port also 2nd init.
You can use Volume Up and Volume down keys for moving cursor, Menu key for selection
and Back button for return back, adb is also working.
If somebody has build environment setup he can create cwm from sources with recovery.fstab
from image and next key codes:
Code:
key 68 CAMERA
key 115 VOLUME_UP
key 114 VOLUME_DOWN
key 116 POWER
key 139 MENU
key 102 HOME
key 158 BACK
key 217 SEARCH

I successfully create a CWM image. All keys are working (http://builder.clockworkmod.com/done?build_id=3de865398fcafa141514c2a5f343a8e6)

This time I repacked TWRP created for HTC Explorer (Pico) to Defy Mini. Try it also only via fastboot mode. Thanks original developers for theirs work.

Thanks for TWRP.
I created CWM 6.0.3.0
Any custom ROM, please?

CM10 HTC Explorer (Pico) port
First thing: What SystemROM size showing in Titanium Backup?
Model name will show as A310 (Explorer). Try that because I don't have Defy Mini. Build contains stock defy mini kernel. Defy Mini recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2187074. Make nandroid of stock rom. Tell if you can boot to it. If yes i will try made custom kernel (kexec or 2ndboot) & simpler cwm usage (2ndinit or 2ndboot) ,Model name will show as A310 aka Pico. If not, when restore nandroid or reflash stock rom via RSD Lite.
LINK: http://www.gigasize.com/get/g3kc53g7o7d
Also: if it boots make screenshot (better photo cause i will know if you didn't faked) of About Phone.

No bootoader can intall the UNOFFICIAL Rom :s
All becomes the Error "Status 7" E Failed to load cm-10-20130314-UNOFFICIAL-defymini.zip

Currently not much time for it, so only screenshot from TB. If useful I can put here also stock boot and recovery.img
BTW we have complete firmware on http://www.droidevelopers.com/defy-mini-xt320-xt321/
If I have more time I will try to boot into this cm with suplied boot.img via fastboot.

Removed these apps to save so SystemROM - Apollo, Browser, Calculator, CMWallpapers, CM File Manager, CM File Manager themes, Email (Includes Exchage services), Gallery, Live wallpapers. It's same cm10 version there i posted earler. Same Pico port, but without defy mini boot.img (maybe it will remove installiation aborted errors) & also zip made by sample.zip (also to avoid instaliation aborted errors). This CM10 zip doesn't include bootmenu from
Some offtopic: Did somebody know what is Defy mini codename? etc. HTC Explorer is Pico.

TinBoost is the name.
Sent from my XT320 using xda app-developers app

i try to install the Unooficialcm10 with ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.3 but it's the same.

I think the only way to make install this CM10 it's to copy files from zip manualy using ADB. Also I will try to change modules lib files from pico to timboost, but I think it will be useless. Also could you make flashable zip of system/bootmenu files?
I think error appears, because DMini uses different system mount point (it's in Meta-INF). If we want to make CM10.zip work we need to copy system files using adb in bootmenu or we need to have 100% working zip on defy mini and when DON'T TOUCHING Meta-INF we need copy rom content....

I'll try to do a flashable zip.
Isn't possible to load this ROM thanks to a 2ndInit script?

Can I ask you something, not really hating or anything, have you actually just replaced the apks or have you really changed more than that?
Do we have to manually install/flash the latest gApps package or have I skipped a step somewhere?
Anyone got a link to gapps at hand? Thx.

what's exatly this RIL issue?
I don't want to sound sarcastic but...
This is a rom that
a) Has all the bugs that CM7 has
b) Does NOT have all the cool custom features that CM7 has
Am I right?

I cant install CWM recovery. Tried it two times but to no avail. The tutorial states that CWm is installed adn then it doesnt boot into CWM.
The device rooted succesfully though.
Any solution?
Vol down + power button doesnt take you to recovery? Have you tried rebooter?
In case cwm is not installed try it once again. If it has the same result try the OLD METHOD.

it simply means that your mobile is not rooted properly.thats why mobile not rebooting to cwm.
kindly root the mobile properly.if it again gives error , tell me
Attach a picture of the rooting guide after that it takes five minutes until the tutorial states that it is booting into CWM which it doesnt. I tried using rebooter to boot into CWM but using that i stumble upon a dead android with a exclamation mark over its stomach after the phone shuts down and tries to reboot into CWM.

IMEI backup/restore tool for Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9500

NOTE: This is only for Galaxy S4 with Exynos 5410, Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 version is here.
For devs: modifications & redistribution are not allowed. Contact me before including my work or any part of it in your stuff.
Explanation
What is IMEI?
Wikipedia
Why should I backup it?
When you start to mod your phone, sometimes may happen that you lose it (a bad flash, a wrong mod...) and without your phone is like this. Shortly, you lose mobile network forever.
The EFS partition itself isn't enough for a full backup, there are another 3 partititions. These are m9kefs1, m9kefs2 and m9kefs3.
Features
Complete IMEI backup
Autozipping of saved partitions
Installation
Download tool from the link below
Put the zip file in your sdcard
Reboot in recovery
Install zip from sdcard
Choose downloaded zip file
Reboot system
Usage
When installed, the "imeibkp" executable goes in /system/bin. Obviously root is a must. This is not an app, so to run it you must use Terminal Emulator. It's very user-friendly and n00b-approved (joking :laugh, normally you shouldn't run into issues while using it.
Open Terminal Emulator
Write su and press enter (this is to obtain root access)
Invoke this tool by writing imeibkp and pressing enter
To restore just invoke again imeibkp
In case you want to export your backup, it is in /sdcard/IMEIBackup and called IMEIBackup.zip (Internal Memory on PC through USB connection)
If you change ROM you'll lose this tool (you'll not lose a backup already made), in this case just follow again Installation steps

After that I have only backup.log in the IMEIBackup folder.
I ran the terminal from the Romtool box pro.
New update available
Added full zip binary (this should fix stpcpy error) and a little code update.

Unofficial TWRP 2.8.7.1

What is better than the standard CM Recovery:
You can flash another firmware (not the CM)
Normal backup data
You can easily flash the Root

Unlock the bootloader as on CM Wiki instructions
Puth the phone in bootloader mode
In the folder with fastboot put crackling-t0x1.img
Enter the following command:
Code:
fastboot -i 0x2970 erase recovery
then Enter
Code:
fastboot -i 0x2970 flash recovery crackling-t0x1.img
Disconnect the device from the USB and remove the battery. Then replace the battery and restart the device in recovery mode to verify the installation. To do this, hold down the "Volume Down" and "Power".
You can download crackling-t0x1.img from here

Is this the reason why i can't install gapp on my wileyfoxswift and an error appear("e: unable to find partition size for '/recovery") every time i use the wipe.
i upgraded from 12.1 to
13.0-20160127-NIGHTLY-crackling and use the same for recovery but did not work so i installed TWRP and this error occurs -see pics
PLEASE HELP
AromaGapp not working in TWRP
TWRP not working in Aroma Gapp need fix (Aroma is best for me since i can customize install & will not replace CM stock files/app)
In the previous post, i was able to install twrp but i found out on many trial and error that open gapp aroma/full doesn't work both on cm12.1 and cm13.0 using TWRP. Also cm13.0 recovery will not work with open gapp aroma/full.
What works: (haven't tried all version)
On TWRP - i was able to use arm64-pico-6.0 on cm13.0 20160130
On CM Recovery - arm64-aroma-5.1 on cm12.1 20160107
This is based on my experience with the HELP of the awesome people in the forum. I just want to let you know and maybe it will be useful to other noobs like me

Aroma compatibility with TWRP is listed on the Open G-Apps website.
Unfortunately this is the only TWRP we have available to us.

The .img file can be flashed by fastboot.
The zip file by any non stock recovery
and yes I do know the image file is contained in the zip but some people may not

Yes i downloaded the zip file, extracted the recovery.img then flashed by fastboot. I am used to using fastboot commands
So the zip file would function as an update file via a non stock recovery, however once installed would replace the non stock recovery with twrp version!

Maybe you are using an outdated firmware and the modem version check fails. The minimum required is 8.4.12.
Why Error 7
I use twrp3.2.1
Update your firmware. ?
Hello, first of all thanks for your work!
I need some help with the step "Flash a Generic System Image in system partition (amr64, A only)". What exactly should I do?

After downloading any of the System Images in forum linked by OP you just go into TWRP, select Install, switch to img install (bottom right corner) and flash image onto system partition from selectable menu.

Thanks, but I was just a bit unsure of what file should I download, since I never done this.
For example, I should choose:
system.img for A-only ARM64 devices with GApps and SU
or
system.img for A-only ARM64 devices vanilla
?
Also, On the flashing instructions it doesnt refer to install gapps, but they are not included in the rom right?
So, if I install the ROM, gapps and flash Magisk for Root I should flash the file "system.img for A-only ARM64 devices with GApps and SU" ?
EDIT: So there is no need to flash cardinal ROM now? Just the new build? I'm a little confused with the installation steps...
02.05.2018 build:
- Moved listen_platform_info.xml to /vendor
- Merged changes from LineageOS
Download build

I don't know what can I say more... On twrp, after I do the wipes, when I try to flash "treble_scorpio-20180502-1503.zip" file it shows a red text saying:
"Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
Error installing zip file 'sdcard/treble_scorpio-20180502-1503.zip' "
I can try to flash it again and take a photo if it helps
thanks

The next time you should read carefully the OP, becouse the firmware requirement is stated there.
Great work, @Psy_Man.
Which one of the Generic System Images do you recommend if I want something stable rather than configurable?
Also, being the system images 'A only' that means that the seamless update is still not possible, right?
