Can anyone help me please. I cleaned install the new Hyperdive 8.1 ROM but for some reason wifi doesn't work. I thought it was a bad download so i re downloaded it and reflashed, but once again wifi wasn't working. Whenever i go to settings wifi is automatically off and when i try switching it on, the switch quikly goes back to off. And in the Quick settings in notification bar , the wifi button is like a dark green as if it is trying to turn on but never does. Can someone please help?

Check out the original thread on xda and go to the second page. There were some people, myself included, with the same problem. Apparently changing the kernel fixes the issue.

I'm helped a friend install cyanogen mod 7 stable on his G2 and he told me this morning he lost the ability to go online. The icons show H, but they're in white and cannot access the internet.
I got his phone back from him and sure enough, data doesnt seem to work.
I've followed these steps thus far:
1. Reconfigured APNs - added the one with the proxy 216.165.155.50
2. Installed a new radio - 26.04.02.17
What else can I do? Should I wipe the entire system and restart? I was dreading doing that, but I'm stuck right now. Anybody have any opinions?
Edit: I've searched for a few hours and came up empty handed, please guide me in the right direction.
Try turning off Mobile Data and then turning it back on. If that doesn't work, with Mobile Data on, try turning wi-fi on and then off again.
Then try a reboot.
If still unresolved after the reboot, do a wipe/reflash.
If still unresolved, make sure the radio on the phone is compatible with the version of CM7 you are flashing.
I installed MIUI for the first time in my EVO, and everything works great, but whenever I tap WiFi. It begins to enable, lingers for a minute and then eventually gives up. I can't enable WiFi.
Help Please.
Why are you double posting this?

Wifi should be working for this version but if not, try going into your Settings and disable all of Network and Broadcast options, then reboot and re-enable everything. You can also try to reboot first into recovery, and reboot back into the phone afterwards, reenabling the Network and Broadcast options.

Whenever I have issues with a ROM, my first step is to go into recovery and clear the cache and dalvik cache and then fix permissions. After that if it still isn't working correctly, I return to recovery and wipe everything several times and then re-install the ROM.
You may get better response for your specific issue by posting it in the thread dedicated to the ROM you're using.
Well it depends if you are running the jelly bean version, you should set your router encryption to wpa/wpa2 per op

Ok so a couple of days ago I installed a 4.0 ready radio on my galaxy s2 and then went on to install Jedi Knight 6 ROM (4.0.4 and radio is UVMC6) and after installation everything was working fine.. I was messing around for a while.. it worked today, I shut my phone off to charge it up real quick, and when I turned it back on my WiFi would not connect. Well not necessarly connect.. it just wont even turn on. When I go into settings and click WiFi, it just sits there saying, Turning WiFi on, and never changes.. I can't seem to imagine what could have happened to it, and I really dont wanna have to reinstall the ROM again because i just spent hours getting this one all set up to my liking...
Anyone got any ideas?
EDIT: BTW, I have tried many things.. Tried airplane mode to disable everything then turn it back on, obviously tried rebooting the phone, i have tried wiping cache in CWM recovery and also tried fix permissions in recovery (another topic said to try those..)
Nothing has worked so far, i'm about to try reflashing my radio, see if that works.. but I really really dont want to have to reflash my whole ROM.. So if anyone has any other ideas please help, i'll edit if the radio works..
EDIT 2: Reflashing the radio did nothing.. it's really wierd, the data, bt, gps.. all of it works fine, it's just the WiFi that's frozen turning on... cant get it to stop turning on and can't get it to actually turn on..
EDIT Final: Ok well, i guess nobody knows what might have been going on.. so I just wound up reflashing my ROM, which obviously fixed it.. i just had to lose all that time spent setting everything up... But oh well.. Kinda sucks nobody even tried to help..

+1 I'm going through the same thing now
I have been having this same issue as well. It started out as stock happening sporadically. One thread suggested rooting and removing my account. Problem still occurring. Tried flashing multiple ROMs and now WiFi hasn't connected at all always stuck at turning on. I have tried clear cache, fix permissions, as well as reinstalling ROM dirty and with factory reset. I'm hoping this isn't hardware failure because I just bought this phone used but it seems to be a reoccurring problem with others as well. Any NEW suggestions not given from quick Google/xda search?

I'd suggest to check your Wireless Access Point (modem or router) wireless settings for security, check and see if it's set to use WPA/WPA2, which is common on some modems/routers, change it to either WPA or WPA2 (preferred) not both, it's a known issue with WiFi networks and having it set to using both, I had the same problem before with my phone connecting to my WiFi.
Also if you use MAC Address Filtering on the modem/router, you should disable/clear that and let phone re-connect before enabling mac filtering again.

The problem I am having is not that it won't connect to a particular network. Wifi will not initialize on the device at all and is stuck in "Turning On..." state. I found more and more posts where people ended up having to send in to Samsung so I spoke with them and even though I purchased the phone used its thankfully still under warranty and they will be replacing it. The did not confirm whether or not it was a true known device issue but were quick to file the exchange for me.
sigh, me too!
Just started having this problem on 4.3.1
great.
In my case, I had to wipe system and data before reinstalling my ROM.
Though the only reason it was happening to me was because Beanstalk 4.4.2 didn't want to get past the splash screen when I tried to install it so I downgraded back to ICS 4.0.4 without wiping. Good luck getting this issue fixed. Also another kernel might fix thingz for you if your current one does not like your device.
I have a similar problem. After a while, WiFi gets disconnected. If I go in settings - wifi, i get the message "unfortunately, settings has stopped" and I can't get WiFi to work again until I reboot the phone. The Wifi works again for a couple of minutes then stops.
I have flashed various different ROM (CM11, PA) but keeps getting the exact same behavior.
I've rebooted in safe mode and I don't get the problem now.
Hi,
I am new to android, recently bought a Sony Xperia ZL, great device, and I decided to root my phone and try out a Rom. I tried the eXistenz ROM black edition, and it was awesome. However, I tried it while I was at home, using wifi, but this morning I had to head out and tried to use my Data and it didn't work. Tried enabling 4G and LTE, and both options didn't work, the ICONS did not show up at all.
I had to revert back to stock because I urgently needed internet access.
Anyone run into this issue? I tried searching the forum, but no luck.
Not sure if this will help, but I'm on a locked bootloader, model C6506, Android 4.2.2, Build number 10.3.A.0.423
Anyway, looking for any advice so that I could give it another shot.
Toggle airplane mode ON the OFF, now turn Ur data ON.
or
Restart Ur phone then turn ON data.
I'm having the same issue with other custom rom. I noticed that when ur data works after restart or toggle ON/OFF airplane mode u can toggle it ON/OFF without problem, but when u start turn wifi ON/OFF the issue start that sometime ur phone can't connect to data.

Thank you for your response. I had tried a combination of that before posting lol. HOWEVER, I did find out the problem. Apparently, with my provider, and the ROM, the APN was removed. I had to add it back in manually. I never ever used an android before, so I didn't know where to begin lol.

Assalamualaikum.
I too faced the same problem. After turning on my WiFi it stucked. It's not turning off. I searched on the internet for the fix. But could not find it. So I came across a fix by myself. First u have to power off your device. Then power on. As soon as you power on the first thing you have to do is to go to setting and then go to WiFi(you should do this quickly otherwise u won't be able to go to WiFi settings). Then go to Advanced settings then turn off Scanning Always Available. See if this works?
