Hi
It may be stupid question, Although all apps are closed maximum ram is used. System uses the ram for backend running applications but how can I get free up some RAM memory?
Rom: AOKP
Thanks in advance

Kill unnecessary services running in the bg. Recent apps is just a list of recent apps not running ones.
And since RAM is random access memory saying RAM memory is like calling an ATM an ATM machine.
How do I kill bg services?

2 phones, both run exactly the same apps, aside from the rooted one that runs cwm, titanium backup, setcpu, Dropbox.
1 phone - rooted, running stock ics, frozen apps, lean!
2 phone - stock ics.
Memory usage is less on the stock phone.
Ram manager
1 550mb
2 407mb
Applications running
1 451
2 380
What gives? I thought freezing was supposed to free up more memory...
How in the he*l do you have 450 applications???
Mine is more like your #1 but with over 50 more apps added, and I still have only 192, total, running and non running...
And the memory stays around 350.

chances are he's only loaded each of those apps just once aside form facebook twitter and other stuff.. no one really uses all those apps
One just sucks moar. Awesome advice ftw

Ya no one uses even ten percent of those apps.

Sorry, those aren't apps running, it's mb of memory used.
No 2 phones are the same...
End of story

I think it's clear what I'd like to know. As far as I know the pre loading feature on youtube does take some space on your phone, right?
Cheers

Can someone do me a favour a and check their total internal memory. Mine is at 10.36gb. Is this not too small? I wasn't expecting the full 16gb, but even so...

Yes its only 10.36 GB free. Probably the remaining is used by Samsung pre-installed apps etc.
Cheers. Oh well. Spotify better hurry up and allow moving to external sd!

Do a search for the old spotify apk, it lets you choose external. You uninstall spotify, install the old one and choose external storage (download a song to confirm its on ext), then upgrade to the current version and it will keep external as your storage location.

Thanks for saying what the memory is. Just proves to me that I need one with more memory.
Hurry up Samsung and release the larger versions.
Ok, i get it. I know how android control ram, free ram is wasted ram and if app needs ram then system will end some apps but seriously?

19 MB free? Is it normal? Apex launcher reload too often. There isn't any super consuming app on neither list nor in "cached app".
I just checked on SystemPanel Lite and there is "Interface 110MB"
I am using Paranoid Android 3+ with AK Purity kernel.
After reboot and I got 150-200 MB (Interface - 38 MB). Just wondering for how long.
How much free ram have you got just right now? How often your launcher reload?
Thanks
43 available ram at the moment. Launcher doesn't redraw often. Running aokp mr1 build 4.
271mb free. Launcher never redraws, system overall very snappy. Only leave Messaging, Phone and Chrome in recent apps.
My phones currently at just over a week uptime with 265mb free, and I never clear recent apps. Also no launcher redraws using nova prime.

166mb free..

342 free...
What apps do you have installed? And I'm betting that pie or lmt or whatever it is is going to end up being responsible for a lot it memory usage too.
Also, your rom could just be heavy on theory usage. The more tweaks/customizations/options, the memory used.
Edit: also, how many widgets do you have?

While we're all throwing out our stats: 10 days, 9 hours uptime; 100MB free. I have no launcher redraws.
200+ free ram

Cm10.1. I have around 80 apps.

Are you using tibu to restore apps. I had the same problem until I did a clean install and let market auto restore. Then reboot phone and you should be good to go.
Thanks for posts guys.
It had to be memory leak or something. After restart it is quite better but still. I track memory usage from that moment and I think I have just too many apps. Many of them start their services and not end it. Right now I have cleared recent apps and 170mb free.
According to Play Store I have 107 apps installed
Hi xda! i have a question for the devs,
The samsung galaxy note 2 has 16gb internal storage but only 10gb is available
so i discoved that partitions such as cache have 1gb allocated but is 99% empty so is there a way to repartition and claim back some space?
Because aosp installed on a 16gb system should leave 13.3gb space free for user data i understand that touchwiz is Bloated but still why is there too much space allocated to the system partitions
Aosp rom need not to think for OTA.
Samsung have to keep provision for it, we xdaian are just less than 10 % who customizing rom with Odin. 90% are still depends on official update. In case there is major release like 4.3 or klp release for note2 then it may need huge space.

Dont know but there could be some form of swap/pagefiling to improve the ram of the phone.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
But the question is is it possible to reclaim this allocated space without any issues for those who don't rely on OTA updates. I plan to stick with aosp roms.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Well why reclaim it back if it could be turned into swap or what ever android systems use to increase ram.
