so you have fastboot up and running, if you give the fastboot command
fastboot devices
it gives a serial back in the command window ? (your bootloader says fastboot usb, so i guess it should be fine)
how did you execute the RUU, did you execute the RUU with admin rights (right click the ruu.exe and select run with admin rights)

and i cant find answer
why i have this error 170 in fastboot?
this ruu is ok: RUU_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_H3G_UK_1.28.771.9_Radio_1.12 04.103.14H_release_256494_signed?
the only thing i noticed that radio its diffident in ruu then in bootloader. and im using Windows 7 and when im in fastboot windows see phone as fastboot.
The main version matches so that should be fine. What you can try is this :
Flash the stock recovery 1.28 and the stock boot.img back first. Then relock the bootloader and run the ruu again.

Hello,
Im having reallly big problem with my Desire HD device and unfortunately,I realize this is only my fault and inadvertence. Im hoping that someone will help me with my problem...
First of all, I've had stock 2.3.5 on my device and every possible blockade. I've used Downgrade_v2 files (with adb and Gingerbreak and 1.32 stock android) but it wasn't working as it supossed to do. I've found nice tool to unblock DHD, called EasyAceRootTool. Everything went OK, new H-Boot was uploaded, unblock process went smoothly, Revovery Touch was uploaded to DHD as well, Superuser was installed too.
And at this level I've hurried too much, because I've installed by recovery new rom on Android 4.0.4 , this one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1839004
And of course... I know now iVe forgot to make S-OFF, android doesn't start, nothing happens at all....

2)Install RUU, It says that there is a problem with Hboot and i need to wait for upgrade
3)Install PD98IMG.zip (pulled out from stock RUU) by recovery, it says that this image is "bad"
4)Restore backed up adnroid from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920876&highlight=hboot, from section "Install stock Vodafone ROM", but it didn't helped as well, it says MD5 checksum failed...
5) When im trying to unlock Hboot in EasyAceRootTool, it communicating with device, but then it says : "Your device is not recognized"
Please guys... what else should I do ??

Wait, no. Flash the ROM from recovery. You can't flash zips like that in fastboot. You can flash ROM images, but it makes more sense for you to get a recovery and flash zips instead.
If you don't have a recovery, first you need to install one. If you have a rooted ROM, you can install a recovery from apps: ROM Manager for ClockworkMod, 4ext Updater apk (from 4ext's website) for 4ext, and GooManager for TWRP. If you don't, download a recovery.img and flash it from fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
.
If you do, just go straight to flashing the zip from recovery. Then,
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
.

What are you trying to do?? If you have an unlocked bootloader a RUU will never flash. Besides, being S-ON requires the specific RUU for your device.
If you have CWM and an unlocked bootloader, you can flash any custom rom in recovery but need to flash boot.img after flashing the rom.
You can't flash apks in recovery, only zips. Then fastboot flash the boot.img.

I've successfully rooted, and unlocked bootloader.
I can't seem to install any ROM. I've tried two CM11 Nightly versions, and the latest Beanstalk ROM.
I get a status 7 error.
I've tried:
editing the CM11 zip file to remove the "assert..." line of code.
using TWRP recovery
Nothing has worked.
I have Hboot 1.12
The only CWM recovery that I can use is version 5.8.4.0. If I use a newer version, whenever I boot into recovery, it's just a blank screen. (I've tried 6.0.4.5 and 6.0.4.8, neither came up with anything) I've downloaded them from different sources. So it's not a corrupt download.
TWRP recovery brings up the same status 7 error. It still comes up with an error if I remove edit the ROM zip file.
What am I doing wrong?
I just tried flashing the latest recovery again, and I got this:
C:\AndroidSDK\sdk\platform-tools>fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touc
h-6.0.4.8-evita.img
sending 'recovery' (8644 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.285s]

So I tried the non-touch version:

4.8-endeavoru.img
sending 'recovery' (8100 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.197s]
writing 'recovery'...
(bootloader) Format partition SOS done
OKAY [ 0.706s]
finished. total time: 1.903s
Waited a minute, then rebooted into recovery. It worked, but all I have are the instructions, minus the ability to do anything.
So it looks like the file attached.
EDIT: No idea what happened before, but booted back into recovery and the CWM recovery worked this time.
Going to try installing the ROMs now...froze on wiping data. So I rebooted, now CWM recovery is blank again.

I can't quite get that now. As I just tried to update the phone via the stock method, and now it's updating to Jelly Bean.
Will this update the Hboot as well?
I managed to get the CID as well, which is OPTUS001

Hi, a few weeks ago, I tried ARHD 33.1 on my HTC ONE x international version, but i had signal drops. Some suggestions? Now I am using Maximus HD, and I'm not having that problem anymore. But the problem is that I want ARDH, it seems much better at battery life.

I tried updating to JellyBean through the stock updater, but when it finishes downloading, it tells me to reboot so the install can start, I reboot, but it boots into TWRP recovery. I think it's trying to boot into the stock recovery. How do I restore the stock recovery, or solve this problem?
Solved it. Followed the instructions here on Android Authority. (can't post link)
Now h-boot is version 1.36, hopefully this is high enough to install custom ROM.
I can now go into the latest version of CWM, but... I forgot to enable USB debugging...
Now I think I'm bricked. I actually made a nandroid backup before wiping the data, but it seems to have disappeared.
Is there anyway that I can fix this?
UPDATE:
I flashed the latest version of TWRP, and then mounted USB storage. I then moved the roms onto the device.
For some reason, I couldn't mount the SDcard through CWM, only through TWRP. I read that you can also use Phil's recovery. I also pasted the nandroid backup I had made at the very beginning. Flashed latest version of CWM, and boot.img again, just in case.
Then installed PACman ROM, and GAPPS. It's working now.
Thread solved.

Either you S-OFF with sunshine (costs 25 USD) so you can flash the leaked firmware or you wait untill the official OTA gets distributed by HTC. If you choose to do the latter you need to restore your system to stock, unrooted, read-only state by flashing a RUU or restoring a stock backup and reflashing the stock recovery.

The update from the link is for the Asian SKU 709. If you go back to a stock version with the SKU 401 you can only use updates with the same SKU and the update for firmware 2.10.401.1 has not been realesed officially untill now.
Edit: Maybe I understood you wrong. What is your actual firmware version? I mean the one that is stated in the download mode in the line with "OS" at the beginning. That is the firmware you need to look for if you want to get back to stock. The one in settings>about only tells you the base of the rom you are using.

Your phone is S-ON so you can only go back to the stock firmware that belongs to your phones SKU. You need to look at the "OS" line in download mode if you want to know which SKU versions you can use.

Since you're s-on, you're already on .709 firmware. There is no way you could be on anything else because it would not flash. Still, you should reboot to download mode and see what it says. If it's 1.32.709 as I expect, proceed.
1. Use Titanium Backup to back up all your user data and apps to your external sdcard; remove it.
2. Relock and run the existing RUU for your phone (this will wipe everything). Link is in this thread; follow instructions in the OP.
3. Wait until the OTA shows up and install.
4. Unlock and reroot, then restore your backed up data and apps.

Correct. Although I think there is no need to flash the last OTA manually. You can update via the OTA function until you reach 2.10.709.1 since it's been released officially.

No. If you're on 1.40, the 1.32 RUU will not flash because you're s-on—you can't downgrade. You need to find the 1.40.709 RUU. Let me look around.
Edit: It doesn't seem to be posted anywhere I can find. You need to get back to stock to flash an OTA. I think your only option unless HTC releases a RUU for 2.10.709 may be to s-off and update manually.

Actually downgrading with S-ON is possible as long as the bootloader version doesn't need to be downgraded, too (source). Just checked on my phone that the aboot is even with the 2.7.401.1 firmware still on version 1.0.0.0000. So there should be no problem.

Download and use HTC_fast boot.exe instead of facebook.exe. you can find HTC_fastboot by searching the forum. Just place it on the same folder as your current fastboot.exe file.
Command are the same except instead of typing "fastboot flash..." It's "HTC_fastboot flash..."
Edit: this is because regular fastboot can't handle files over 2GB.

Main version not allowed looks like its saying you can't downgrade. Maybe the bootloader version changed.

Which RUU did you try to flash? As far as I know there is one for 1.32.709.6 and one for 1.36.709.3. Best case scenario would be you downloaded a wrong RUU. Worst case scenario would be that downgrading is (in contrast to the post I linked earlier) not aboot dependent and not possible if the software numbers (in your case the 40 you want to downgrade to 32 or 36) differ.

mY RECOMMENDATION IS TO WAIT UNTIL DE 2.10 RUU ZIP AND DO THE SCARD METHOD, IS SAFE FAST AND THEN YOU GOT A FULL STOCK CLEAN OF BLOATWARE, ALSO IYOU WILL BECOME OFFICIAL STOCK, YOU WOULD HAVE TO ROOT AGAIN AND FLASH TWRP. NO S-OFF REQUIERED.

Flashing OTAs with TWRP isn't possible but you can use the recovery that is placed in the OTA. The OTA can be found in
Code:
/data/data/com.htc.updater/files/
Just copy it to your pc and open the zip file. The recovery can be found in one of the subfolders. Next step would be making a TWRP backup with only recovery checked. After the backup has finished you need to copy it to your pc, too. Now you need to rename the stock recovery you grabbed from the OTA to
Code:
recovery.emmc.win
and replace the recovery in the backup with the renamed file. Next you need to copy the backup back to your phone and restore it with TWRP. When you reboot now TWRP will be replaced by the stock recovery and you should be able to install the OTA. I'm not sure whether it is necessary to relock for the update with S-ON. With S-OFF it is actually not needed.
Edit: I missed the part where you stated that you're still rooted and assumed that you restored a "read-only backup". My instructions won't work until you restored a stock, unrooted and read-only system beforehand.
Hi all,
I bought a 2nd hand HTC One m8, and today I tried to install the OTA fix for stagefright, and after my phone rebooted I was faced with the following error message (see attached photo): "Package expects build fingerprint of htc/telus_wwe/htc_m8:5.0.1/LRX22C/463267.2:user/release-keys or htc/telus_wwe/htc_m8:5.0.1/LRX22C/463267.3:user/release-keys; this device has htc/h3g_uk/htc_m8:5.0.2/LRX22G/509530.6:user/release-keys.".
After searching around, I found out that this is likely the result of rooting and modifying the system or flashing a custom recovery. So I booted into HBOOT and was greeted with (see 2nd photo):
Code:
*** Software status: Modified ***
*** RELOCKED ***
M8_UL PVT SHIP S-ON
Which seems to indicate that the device has indeed been tampered with.
I've searched around to try to figure out how I can restore my device to 100% stock firmware, but they all seem to require unlocking the bootloader and rooting the device. Do I have a simpler option? I tried saving the OTA zip file and extracting recovery.img from the firmware.zip file, but when I try to flash it via "fastboot flash recovery", I get:
Code:
target reported max download size of 1826414592 bytes
sending 'recovery' (13218 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.451s]
writing 'recovery'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 1.923s
It seems strange that the stock recovery image fails the signature verification?
I'd really appreciate any advice on how to resolve this situation - and preferably an option which doesn't require wiping my entire phone, since it takes me hours to set everything back up again...
If you've managed to read this far, I am grateful I never intended to mess around with the phone in the first place, I guess that's what I get for buying second hand....
PS. The phone is from Telus
Your 1st pic show that you have a wrong recovery image installed. You have a Telus device but the recovery is H3G meant for UK device
You can't fastboot flash a recovery when the bootloader is locked or relocked. You need an unlocked bootloader for that.
If you don't want to re-unlock the bootloader, you can use the firmware.zip that you extracted from OTA to install recovery.
1. Rename the firmware.zip to 0P6BIMG.zip
2. Put the 0P6BIMG.zip on your microSD (I believe you have one)
3. Boot to bootloader/hboot - it will ask you to update, volume up to accept
4. let it do its stuff
5. once finish it ask to reboot, then reboot
6. remove the file from microSD
7. do the OTA again
The OTA will success if your current ROM is pure non-rooted stock ROM. If it is rooted OTA will fail too
Thank you so much, I followed your instructions and it worked perfectly - you just saved me a really big headache
