Hi Guys
I bought my HTC Dsire HD in South Africa and had my 3g working perfectly. I am now in the USA on T-mobile and I dont ever get any 3g connection. I know its not a coverage issue as other t mobile users get 3g. Please can some one help me, I really need 3g badly
I have contacted t mobile but they were not able to help
Are you rooted? I think you should flash a different radio, specifically for USA

I thought USA use 1900mhz for 3g while other country use 2100mhz.. Or is it not?

Well the topic is about the Desire and how to get it but I was not sure which forum to put it in so posted it here.
Well my Brother is moving to London for 2 years. Now he has his N95 (unlocked) which he would like to continue using as he has his paid apps installed on it and stuff.
Now he's getting a HTC Desire on contract. So If he uses the Contract Sim in his N95 and sends back the Desire to me here in India, I could unlock it and use it with any data carrier here in India right?
Yes you could unlock / debrand the Desire and use it on another network.

you will be able to use it no probs in india, you may want to check with the network you use in india and make sure that they use a compatible 3g band if that is important to you
Bhai sab fit! It will defo work. What Network is your Bro on?

He will be either on T Mobile or Vodafone
The network won't care right even if he's using his contract sim in his other unlocked phone?

Well I use vodafone here and as of yet there is no 3G so it might not make a differrnce. Any idea what 3G band is used in India though?

Oh and one more thing.
Some guy on tech enclave was saying that if you unlock your phone using the unlock code the phone will once again get locked after I update my phone software to Froyo.
Is that true? I thought this only happened in iPhones? If it's true what are my alternative means of unlocking?
Thank you everyone
Simply re use the same unlock code you originally used to unlock the phone and you'll be fine.

That would work right? Or will they not let you re use the same code?
It worked for me when my phone was re locked after debranding, its worked for others on here too.

Could you tell me what site you or others used for unlocking the phone from which you could re use the key?
Anyone know How much would it cost in customs to get a Desire from the UK to India?
Hi everyone.. I'm planning on going to Europe this summer and I wanted to ask if anyone knows if my phone will work with European 3g... Thanks
Btw.. I already have my sim unlock code from t-mobile..

You should be good. I went to the UK and Singapore with an unlocked Nexus One and it worked great. Just got my unlock code for my T989 as I have a trip to Sweden in 2 weeks. I used Giff-Gaff in the UK and Starhub in Singapore. Study the carriers frequencies before you go and buy a pre-paid sim and you will be good to go.

This phone is not pentaband which means it isn't guaranteed to work on 3g for all carriers. It does have 4 of all 5 bands, the only one you're missing is 900mhz so depending on where in Europe you're going you'll have 3g. You'll have to check the specific carrier you plan on using and as long as they support one of the bands, you'll be fine. (meaning they don't only use the 900 bands for 3g)
This will help. Still trying to find the site I used that told the carriers frequencies.

There are guys on here from the US like droidit, and they have the international tegra so I guess it must work fine. Maybe pm him.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
The International HOX is fully quad-band that supports ALL the same frequencies as the OneXL (AT&T OneX) EXCEPT the LTE bands.
It will work without issue anywhere in the US.
I am wondering if a sprint Htc One flashed to verizon would get as good of a signal and a verizon branded One?
Most likely not. Different carriers run on different frequencies.

But if they run off the same tri-band cdma freq. , or for example sprint run 800 and verizon run say 805 ?
Just curious is all.

That's LTE which isn't used for voice right now. The CDMA networks aren't even close.

That can't be... Unless I'm mistaken that is impossible. The CDMA frequencies aren't even close...

.... That sounds wrong... Maybe their postpaid is different. From what I understand not only are the frequencies different version must sign off on every phone on their network...
After some research I've seen both sides being positive they are right. One constant though is that Verizon must sign off on every phone in their network. Perhaps their post paid works differently.... Or maybe I'm wrong

I used to run a Sprint HTC Touch Pro on the Verizon network.
I ported it over, but that was years ago.
Both 1x voice and evdo/3g worked fine.
Was a bit trickier to get 3g then it was the 1x but lte certainly won't work on a Sprint on Verizon.
I certainly wouldn't go buy one from Sprint though planning on getting the ESN to get passed by their checks.
That's all I will say about that aspect.

I'm not sure about sprint but the vzw one is global which means ANY network will work, but you won't get better data . I just popped a metro pcs Sim in my DNA and my son is using it with no issues except weak data .

just because a phone is global doesn't mean it will work on all networks. there are too many possible bands to acct for. You would need several radios, which would eat battery.
"Global" phones will work on the most popular bands.
As far as LTE, there is not a chip that has all the US bands.

Global doesn't mean that at all.... The Droid 2 Global doesn't work on all networks. It simply means it will work in multiple countries...
