Hi I have a Tmobile Galaxy s2 I was rooting my phone, following step by step to download mode to CWM recovery mode. i was following GalaxyS2Root.com every step, so what i did was in CWM recovery mode an install tmobilegalaxys2root.zip, it work but onto i have to Titanium Backup app to root it. Titanium Backup app did not work, did no see root. So i went back to CWM recovery an install SuperSU.zip. It was installing but when the phone turn off to reboot, It did not turn back on, I hold the power button, hold Volume buttons an power button, Still nothing
Please help??????
I have the same problem and really need some help. The phone won't turn on no matter what I try. I was trying to update a nightly rom and kernel to 4.2.2 and gapps. So I selected all 3 files, when it got to the gapps install, it wasn't installing gapps, I must have clicked a different folder by mistake. It said update.zip
The phone then said It was updating to clockwork mod from twrp. I was using TWRP and I'm sure this is what caused this problem. Is my phone bricked? What can I do?

Does anything show up at all? Even a white line across the screen when you try to turn it on? If you can't get into recovery get into download mode and it can be fixed.

You can buy a usb download jig for 5 bucks on amazon or ebay it will put your phone in download mode automatically if its not fried. By the way how did you try to get into download mode?

Yea i just ordered a Jig. I took out the battery, held the vol+ and - and then plugged in the usb to computer. But nothing happened. I waited a good minute.
Hopefully the jig saves me. If not are there any other options? Should I sell the phone for parts?
What does computer say when the phone is plugged in? If it says QHS_USB_DOWNLOAD that is not good at all. You can try mobiletechvideos site they fix alot of bricks. But yeah if you have to you can sell the parts . People on craigslist sell them all the time and there is places like usell.com that buy them. If you have a warranty you can send it in and just say you received a notice to update and when you did it never booted again.

I'm trying to access the Download Mode for my Epic 4g but can't seem to do so. I've flashed my phone back to stock several times in the past so I know I'm following the correct procedure.
The problem started after flashing my phone to Eclair DI18 using Odin and using the one click root & recovery 2.55. I was constantly receiving 2.2 OTA update notices so I clicked install thinking that I could restore back to stock if something went wrong. I received an error message during the update but the phone was able to start into Eclair so I didn't think anything of it.
Well, I tried flashing my phone back to stock today for the purpose of updating the phone, but I couldn't get download mode to start. Thinking that I could restore the download mode using one of my old back up files from CW3, I tried the restore option but it was a no go.
Is there any way to restore my phone without using Odin? I'm still able to boot into recovery mode. If that's not possible, is there anyway to remove clockworkmod recovery so I can bring the phone into a Sprint store?
Thank you in advance!

Download mode is built into the phone. ROMs shouldn't kill it. Pull out the battery, plug the phone into the computer. Now hold the 1 key and then press and hold the power button. If it goes into download mode then you can put the battery back in.
Just tried it but I get stuck in a boot loop. It boots into samsung screen, reboots, samsung screen, reboots...
With the battery in and usb out, i'm able to boot into CW recovery...
If you are holding the 1 button first then holding power you shouldnt go to the Samsung boot screen.
If you are I dont know of any other way to get into download mode. Sorry.

Trying to search for the file on google but no luck so far.
Maybe your 1 key is broken.
Do you BONSAI?
if the 1 and power= no download mode then maybe keeny is right and ur 1 key is broken, maybe use the samsung update tool with eb13 in it?
Does that make it go in download mode automatically?
Look in the dev section for the re-rfs rom and install that.

SOLVED! Thanks everyone for all of your replies
I am also having similar problem.
On pressing power on botton or Volume Down+Cam+ power button.. NOTHING HAPPENS.
However I can boot into Download Mode (on battery only).
1) Computer do not recognize USB Drive. (tried uninstalling drivers > rebooting > reinstalling > rebotting ) still USB device not recognized. Even tried with different USB cable. And different ports.
2) However I managed it on my other computer. Where only 1 out of 4 USB port recognize my device.
3) Tried Odin to flash EC05 Stock... It hangs at some place or the other, and screen goes off or some times green (very rare).
4) Phone do not restart in Download mode without battery.
I tried to boot download mode without battery (plugged into computer).. but it wont.
Battery+USB = phone wont boot in download mode.
Phone boots to download mode only on Battery.
After that If i plug in the phone and remove the battery.. screen still stays on.

Now you have to get the original unrooted factory rom .tar file and restore your phone back to factory. Your phone is just soft bricked so you are very lucky. Use google or the xda search feature and look up something along the lines of "SGH-T989 .tar file" or "T-Mobile Galaxy S II tar". The exact file you need is floating around here somewhere.

Honestly I haven't done this yet with the GS2, but I've done it a million times with a Vibrant I once owned. I'm gonna look it up right now and see what I find. This should be a pretty easy process. The best part is that at least your phone isn't completely bricked.

First do a battery pull, then put the battery back into the phone, hold both the up and down volume rocker and press the power button till the phone vibrates (letting you know its been turned on), soon as the phone vibrate then release the power button but do not let go of the volume rocker until you see the recovery image! Once you see the recovery image you are easily back in business. Let me know if you can at least get into recovery.

What ROM did you guys install? Few questions. Did you guys install Samsung drivers. If not install through kies or from the development section here and reboot computer. Then put in download mode and wait for comp. to recognize phone again. try entering recovery and flash a basic stock ROM from dev section. See if that works.

No, none of them fully completed, thats why i had to battery pull. For the first several flashes i let it sit for 10min+ hoping it would work itself out, to no avail. The battery pulls were out of frustration. I just did trial and error until it eventually worked. Sometimes you have to figure things out for yourself.

Give this a try:
1) Go to Samsung Kies & download " Kies " on your PC.
2) Run Kies & click on the Tools tab.
3) Select " Firmware upgrade settings " & follow the on screen steps. Depending on your download speed this my take 1hr.
4) Your phone is back to stock ICS 4.0.4. Put this file on the root of your SD card " root.zip " You can also find this zip in the installed folder for Toolkit Beta.
5) Download & install " [APP] Samsung Galaxy S II Toolkit Beta V2.4 *ICS ROOT READY!!!* "
6) Follow the on screen steps to flash CWMT. This will use odin to flash CWM Touch back on your phone.
7) After odin opens click pda & select the recovery file " recovery.tar.md5 " it should be the only file listed.
8) After CWMT is on your phone and phone has rebooted unplug the usb wire from the phone & turn it off.
9) Pull battery wait for 10 sec then replace battery now push in and hold both volume up & volume down buttons at the same time then hold the power button until the phone vibrates. *Do not let go of the volume buttons until you see CWMT*. It will flash the screen one time then you are now ready to flash the root.zip file you put on your SD card.
10) Find the root.zip file you put on your SD card, now flash it *note it may not flash right away just keep trying until it flashes. Then reboot.
11) You should now be stock & rooted & ready to flash your hart out.
Let me know if this helps, I have done this 4x now & it works with no problems.

Have you tried a factory and data reset to factory settings from the recovery? Usually fixes the problem. Always do that before and maybe after a custom rom zip installation.

Hi, I have a SGH-T989D. Today, I edited build.prop to change phone model to S3 (SGH-I747M), in order to watch mobile TV (long story). However, when tried to reboot device, it doesn't start (actually screen just shows logo for a while, and turns to blank). I also have tried to take battery off and turned it again, but it is same situations over and over. Did I brick the phone? Please help. Many thanks!

As long as you can make it to the logo you can restart it. Do you have cwm or twrp recovery? If not do know how to get into download mode? What you did is soft bricked your phone. It can be fixed though.

No it's not bricked try wiping cache and dalvik then reboot. Else flash backup if you have one.

Hi, did "Wipe catch/Dalvik catch", but device still doesn't boot. My phone is running stock ROM, but just rooted. I didn't "back-up" when I rooted the phone. Any further solution? Many thanks!
Try this web site galaxys2root.com and look for how to unroot unbrick and follow the instructions.
Hope this help

Hi,
The easiest way to fix it is reinstall firmware using odin. Remember after this you need to root the phone again (that's easy)
Download the firmware specific for your device from samMobile. http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3
Flash it using odin. You can find information on how to use odin here on XDA. Just Search for it.
After flashing is done set up the phone and root it again.

Install drivers for phone to computer. Install odin. Then turn on phone power button in and both volume up and down at same time until download mode appears on screen select yes to enter download mode . Hook phone to computer via usb cord. Open odin you should see com7 or whatever port you have it hooked in. Download any sgh-t989 odin zip. Some are gb some are ics etc. Extract the tar file to computer then place it to PDA in odin. Hit start odin should read tar and begin process of installing it to phone. You should see the progress in the top box on left. It should take 5-8 mins approx. Then phone will reboot into new rom. After this unplug phone you should be good to go.

Thanks all! Will try it when I get time.
Finally, I brought my phone back. Appreciated all of you help. Now, one more question, if someone can help me out as well: what it is the safe way to modify phone model on build.prop file? I used "ES File Explorer", and ended up with above situation. I just changed ro.product.model. Thanks.
