I want to flas a TK kernel but before i flash i want to know whether the stock Kernel(PREEMPT) can be backed?
If suppose TK has problem i can revert to it.
Reply ASAP.
I want to flash quickly. :cyclops:
The stock kernel will be backed up with the Rom itself.if you create a nandroid of the stock rom,the boot.img will be found inside it.

Using setcpu or no-frills

I can only overclock it upto 1024 MHz. I want to clock upto 1.5 GHz.

Have you flashed TK?stock kernel can't be overclocked,and also,doesn't support s2w.
Edit:flash this in order to get s2w and overclock to work

I m using ckpv5s latest sense based ROM

This should be it if I remember correctly.(have too slow internet, site isn't opening)
I tried flashing 201212251804 but its doesnt flash.
It says Partition not found.
Does it show a red and green bar at the top in the fastboot screen while flashing?
The cmd prompt should say finished at the end.make sure you flash it in fastboot where it says fastboot USB in red.

ArcKnight 3.6 doesn't boot, 3.5.1 does.
Also ArcKnight doesn't have the sony logo.
Stock kernel should always work, unless you're using some init.d script that causes a boot loop.
Have you tried flashing everything from scratch?

The Sony logo comes after i flashed the new ROM and tries to reboot.
I have tried flashing a bounce of times, always the same ending.
I flash an older firmware, roots, puts in the new kernel, and then installing the ROM. Then when i restart its just goes to Sony logo and stay there.

To flash another kernel you need to unlock your bootloader.
Rooting it won't do the trick.

You say you flashed .42 as the old firmware and start from there.
That's a gingerbread rom and JJ Hybrid is an ICS rom.
Also you can't use ICS on a gingerbread kernel and vice versa.
I suggest you flash the official ICS update from sony, which can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330314
And then try to flash your favorite ICS kernel, factory reset, format system and then flash your favorite ICS rom.
Good luck!

ROM cannot be installed like this.
You are flashing kernel with that command.
Stock ROM needs to be installed via Flashtool. Or another fastboot command("fastboot flash system filename.img" for system folder).

if its a zip file, flash it in recovery. if its an img file, flash it in fastboot. until you do a bit more reading and educating yourself, i dont think that youre ready quiet yet. but, thats your choice. just be careful when asking for help in the franco kernel thread without first educating yourself :silly:
Meaning, I just copy the a zipped franco kernel to 'sdcard' on my GN and install it from CWM Recovery and that's it? It'll boot on the new kernel? It reminded me when I had HTC running xdandroid, everything was smooth and easy

yup, thats it. unless its in a .img form, since francisco likes to do that sometimes. if its in .img form, then you need to fastboot flash it.you have a nexus now, its the easiest to modify
Well, I installed Milestone 4 and after installing it I sent it to reboot and it's now frozen on the 'Google' initial screen, should I allow sometime to the Kernel to read the hardware and stuff or its just screwed

was it in zip or boot.img form? maybe it was a bad download. to get back up, either flash a known good kernel or just reflash your rom(in recovery). it shouldnt take more than a minute to pass google.
Its was an ok zip file, how can I access recovery mode? I used to access trough a program called QuickBoot, but since I can't access the userland anymore, how can I access it?

pull your battery then reinsert it. then power button + press in between the high and low volume at the same time. this will take you to the bootloader, then chose recovery. anyways, you should give trinity kernel a spin.

My last HTC device was a Desire HD, but I imagine that the newer devices have the same approach. To flash a kernel, you need to use both recovery and a PC, first to flash the boot.img with fastboot from the PC, and then flash the .zip from the recovery.
