128.980.10 is now out on Optus branded handsets. See any difference?
My phone was running great before, but now I am stuck at title screen, and its very difficult to scroll on the menus!
A bit wierd Im sure it will come good.
So I played with it for about 2 mins and it finally cleared up. Running pretty smooth. Some parts are super laggy, but my phone was like that when I first got it. Once I had been around the phone and seen everything the phone behaves super smooth. Its like it needs to see everything one time then its smooth.
Anyways ill report back any noticable differences over the next few days.
Just did the same update and first thing I can notice is that my WiFi has become alot more responsive. Is very quick to react when searching over WiFi and no delays. Apart from that I'm not too sure because it's too early to comment. Will keep all posted

Unfortunately, im getting a wierd error Ihave never seen before, and everything is now reaaaaly unresponsive.
It says "android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly".
What can I do to stop this. sort of annoying cause my phone was actually pretty smooth and had great battery life before hand anyway!
EDIT:
While typing this message. I just got:
"com.android.settings" is not responding.

WHAT!>?
Where is it.
PS My phone is getting worse and worse.. the home keys barely work anymore. i have turned it on and off. I have even done that clear contacts cache under manage sources for contact info. Sometime when I try and wake the phone from sleep with the power lock button, it just stays off, for about 45 seconds. When it comes to, it is almost bricked.. just slow and the menus wont scroll properly.
Ah yes, google search leads me here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755968
So my HBOOT whatever that is, is 0.94.0000
im going to have to start my phone from scratch.. sorry guys I cant recommend this update for Aussie Optus people. maybe its something simple I dont know, but i updated it following the instructions perfectly, and the phone is now screwed. Im going to try and hard reset and reinstall everything on my phone all over again.

You're downloaded update had an error. Are you rooted from HTC dev? If not (judging from your question re hboot) take it back. The update failed and needs to be reflashed. Unfortunately without being rooted this can't be done. Easy enough to gain root but that has other consequences.

Hope this worked but I'm not sure it will. The android core process error is common with flashaholics who have not wiped a phone properly when changing base firmwares. Which is what we have done with the Optus ota. For me it worked fine.

The phone is now bricked guys. No I don't do any of this rooting stuff, I'm just learning the phone as it is from factory. I just got the Optus OTA installed it and now my phone is stuffed.
It's stuck on the 3 android with white background picture. I can't make the menu come up in this white screen. It just says "checking SD card update".
If I go to menu, normal menu with icons and sense 4.0, doesn't like any touch, completely unresponsive and will not accept me doing any functions, including resetting the phone. I can't do hard or soft reset.
Damn Optus update. Even before my phone got that green banding. Now this tops it off.
Two options return and enjoy new one. Or obtain root and flash ruu to return phone to stock software. Pick one and I can walk you through it. Will provide links to show you exact method but without flashing experience you will have questions that I can answer for you. Up to you which path you want to go.

Take it back man. Stop wasting time and get a refund before they tell you that it's too late. My One X updated fine but is the loading time while on WiFi that's honestly eating at me severely. Don't know what else to do at the moment.

Same issues as Europe or have we got better stocks in Oz??

Should I?

I am going to buy this phone. But is this a good phone ? How is the battery ? And i read on the net that the bootloader is locked so can we install custom roms root it ? how ? and the battery is not removable so if i hang the phone sometimes so how reboot if the keys doesnt work because battery is unremovable ?
Thanks (i am a noob )
Good phone, battery life is not bad, bootloader is locked but you can unlock it from HTCdev site but it may void your warranty and no S-OFF for now, how to root it, search and read and find out and on how to reboot just use the powerbutton at the top to reboot by long pressing it.
If you are going to buy this phone make your research. Do not wait for other people to do the work for you. There is a review thread exactly in the same place were you posted this thread, there is a battery stats thread were people post the battery life and talk about it so you could of jumped in there to find out more about battery. There is a thread by Hamdir regarding what to look out when going and buying your phone and checking what issues to have a look at when inspecting the phone before you buy it...Plus so many reviews over youtube you could look for. I might sound harsh but everyday it is the same freaking question with someone opening a thread and it ends up getting closed anyway. So do your research before buying something. Simple as that.

Don't buy it. I regret doing this mistake. I will NEVER buy any HTC phone again. I had Desire, Desire Z and now One X. They all were plagued by problems. One X has so many problems with the software and with hardware, it's not worth to buy it. I will try to bring it back and buy Galaxy S3. Samsung never failed me

Don't agree with this at all, the phone had some minor bugs when it was first released but they all seem to be fixed now....at least they are for me anyway!
The only thing I don't like is the way it handles multi tasking, not the GUI implemention which is cool and works better than most reviews make out, but the way it kills apps to quickly. I'm sure we'll be able to sort this out with a custom rom later on.
All in all its a great phone with excellent battery life, so long as you dont play too many games

I'm just wondering how come I didn't have all these thoughts? goodphone, battery, bootloader, screen, etc etc. I just loved the phone the moment I saw it.. it's like love at first sight.. probably u'l know if that's this is the one when you actually hold it.. more like a girl, you know if she's the one for u or not
just my 2 cents bro.. honest opinion.. u won't regret it. yes, sometimes it does make u think wuts wrong, but never it will let u down thinkin it's a bad investment.
hope it helps

at best you will have to send your one x back for a swap, at worst you will send it back 4,5,6 times to find a perfect unit

Didn't happen to me. Great device for me. Got one and didn't need to do swaps or replacements.
My HTC One X JUST came into the mail today and I want to get started and get my favorite custom software already. However, the fact that my phone could possibly have a problem out of the box, if I start doing dev stuff, I lose my warranty. Should I wait a bit? I feel like I would notice if anything was wrong already.

That's a very good point.
Some common problems with the device sometimes only show up after a few days use and sometimes HTC wont repair your device if it's rooted, even if it's a hardware problem.
After a week any problems that it might have should have showed up
Thanks guys! Yeah I was kind of thinking the same thing. I suppose I can live with Stock for a week while I test everything out. I would definitely be pissed at myself if they wouldn't service it simply because I wanted Adblock over the next week. haha.
I usually give it a month or so before I do anything to void my warranty. I've had phones before that had something wrong with them that I didn't notice until they were no longer under warranty, so I give it a while before I bother. Plus, this phone is undoubtedly much faster than your previous, so even stock it should be a sizable boost. Enjoy it as it is for a little while, then when you put custom software, you'll get that boost again!
I had mine rooted and flashed straight out the box.

DONT DO IT YET. i had mine for 2 days, after 2 days yellow tinting appeared on it, i am definitely going to wait a few weeks when HTC send it back, hopefully we will have S off then
Give it a week or two. Longer the safer.
Thanks guys! You rock. I'm definitely gonna wait. I'm thinking a week or two so I can test every feature which I haven't been able to test (blue tooth, tethering, and more) or even discover for that matter.
And yes, I came from the Moto Milestone 2 to the Moto Backflip... To the One X. The experience isn't even comparable. I am so happy with the improvement I am just giddy over the fact that I have this super phone. No rush to throw custom on it when it's already this good. Only SERIOUS reason I would unlock for at the moment would be battery and AdFree purposes but for real, the battery isn't that bad.. Idk why people keep hating on it. I am a pretty heavy user too. I mean, it's got some serious hardware to run!

Hello everyone. This is Clockworkmod Recovery v6.0.2.8 v1 for Optimus G Pro.
As you all know, it's 2nd-init recovery. That means if your phone bricks, only lgnpst will revive your phone.
First its how-to is same as the first one with small letters on it
1. Install application that I uploaded
2. Open it and Click 2nd-init recovery
3. Click Reboot recovery to see it worked.
As you know, we cannot change boot image. That will brick your phone.
And if you want to reboot recovery by pressing button, reboot it and you will see button flickering. Than you have to click any button. Fast.
That's all. And of course, you have to have your device rooted.
Thanks to: 985hPaKicK(WHO MADE THIS RECOVERY) and wkpark(who found out the way to increase font size, see this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30818456&postcount=8)

I'd not remove the bloat if I were you. If your phone boot loops, there is no way into recovery. I'd just freeze the apps using titanium or something instead.

I dunno who created this recovery but until we get a unlocked bootloader theres no way to use this if your softbrick or bootloop. The dev should look into implementing a timeout feature when you reboot your device. The moto phones have this kind of recovery with bootstrap and safestrap. We could use it until we crack this thing.

Yeah ive noticed that. Im debating exchanging mine for a s4. Not sure yet. I have to have at least some kind of aosp or custom rom - kernel.
I'm going to remain patient, but for sure if I don't see any kernels fixing the phone's ability to render live wallpaper without lag I'll be sselling mine and buying the s4 developer edition. That is, as long as it still supports the remote control feature.

Why not just get a regualr s4? Once the bootloader is unlocked you will have aosp. Thats what ill do if i exchange. To be honest ive gone through the lg forums and aside from the nexus 4 these phones dont get much if any love. Shame as this phone is great and has great potiential. Shame i only have a week and 1/2 left to exchange if i have to. I dont see the bootloader being cracked by then.

I have an LG Nitro and there have been quite a few roms (most importantly official CM support) on our forums. I even installed the ubuntu test thingy on mine. But I'll have to admit I do get jealous of some of the other phones who don't just get occasion roms but regular releases of most of them.

I have had this phone now for maybe 4-5 months. Coming from a nexus 5 I am really upset. The lag on this device is god awful. I cant even carry on a hangouts chat because the typing is so laggy. I constantly have to go close my recent apps to try to recover some ram in order to make the device speed even remotely bareable. My nexus 4 was crisp and snappy as was my nexus 5. I very rarely experienced any slowdown and now I am stuck with this device that is just so horribly slow.
Has anyone experienced this? Is there a way to fix this? I may just go plunk down to repair the faulty power button on my 5 and just use that. A much nicer device that cost me less than the 5x.

What have you tried already to speed things up? Also, what rom build are you on? I presume stock? Rooted or not?
The first thing I would suggest is a factory reset and/or flash the latest factory image.

I am on stock. not rooted. I have not rooted a device in some time. Perhaps the time has come to get back into the custom rom scene if only to increase performance.
I have tried deleting unused apps and cleaning up my storage space to see if that helps but it has not. I am on 6.0.1 of the stock rom.

These threads annoy me. Especially when people haven't rooted or unlocked their NEXUS devices. Half the point of these phones is to unlock and root them without having to work too hard or get in trouble from your carrier. I don't think I owned this phone for more than a few hours before flashing a new ROM on it.
Many other people have had the same complaints as you and after spelling out the steps they should take to unlock, root, flash a new ROM and kernel, they're often much happier with their devices. The RAM thing is a joke, tbh. I think a lot of people read the threads and articles about how "The New Nexus 5 successor only has Two Gigabytes of Memory?!" and now everyone blames that on their slowdowns and lag issues.
Take some time out one night and unlock your phone, flash the newest radios, vendors, custom recovery, etc and flash a custom ROM. It's a breeze. If you ever did it on your original N5, you'll have no trouble with this phone. There are plenty of great ROMs to choose from. Then, if you'd like, flash a custom Kernel as well. The performance will be night and day. If you'd like to take it further, check out the Interactive Governor Tweaks thread and download a profile or two from there. It really improves the battery life and performance in most cases... All is not lost, my friend. If you do what I explained I am confident you will be much happier with your phone.
Exactly what Alcolawl said. The only reason I ever booted the stock ROM was to check "Allow OEM Unlocking". I am coming from a 6P and I have noticed absolutely no lag or stutter. The phone is a bit creaky, which I expected at a low price point, but the hardware is excellent. I didn't think anybody bought a Nexus and didn't unlock it and root it.

Totally get where you guys are coming from. I used to root every device and flash custom Roms all the time. I was flashing custom roms on the G1 before most folks even knew what android was. I still have a Nexus 5 in my closet with paranoid Android on it as well as a 2012 Nexus 7 with paranoid Android that got so dead without charging that now it won't even boot. Man really wish I could figure out how to fix that one.
My point is that I guess I've gotten used to not having to play with custom Roms(or having any desire to) My hope was that I wouldn't need to get into all that that's all. I'll go through and unlock/root and flash some Roms and that will be that. Thanks for the advice.

If it isn't working for you sell it and buy something else. Simple as that.

I ran Q completely stock for awhile without any issues. I would definitely try a factory reset or flashing the stock images.

I ended up clearing cahce on a lot of different apps and also realized that esfile explorer has a recylce bin. It was storing all my deleted files. Cleaned that out and whoosh, fast again. Still think I'll root and play with some Roms though.

If you go through with all this and flash a custom ROM & kernel, let me know how it compares to stock would you? I have a rooted/unlocked 6p which I LOVE but my wife wanted something easier to handle so we got her the 5x. Her's has similar issues overall but unfortunately she's not really for me messing with her phone (sigh, I know lol). Anyways, am curious for an honest opinion, especially with a pure Nexus/ex kernel combo as my 6p works a dream with that Just figured I'd ask if ya happen to do it, otherwise no worries. Thanks!!

Awesome thank you!! Try a purenexus/ex kernel combo and let me know what you think! Also, what carrier are you on? Don't suppose Verizon by chance right? I only ask as I read a few posts in that thread about VoLTE not working, which I found odd as it works perfectly on my 6p.

I'm fully serious. My Moto X Pure wasn't working out for me so I sold it and bought this. If this phone didn't meet my expectations I'd buy a different phone. If the phone lags, sell it and buy something else that doesn't. It's not that hard of a concept to grasp.
