128.980.10 is now out on Optus branded handsets. See any difference?
My phone was running great before, but now I am stuck at title screen, and its very difficult to scroll on the menus!
A bit wierd Im sure it will come good.
So I played with it for about 2 mins and it finally cleared up. Running pretty smooth. Some parts are super laggy, but my phone was like that when I first got it. Once I had been around the phone and seen everything the phone behaves super smooth. Its like it needs to see everything one time then its smooth.
Anyways ill report back any noticable differences over the next few days.
Just did the same update and first thing I can notice is that my WiFi has become alot more responsive. Is very quick to react when searching over WiFi and no delays. Apart from that I'm not too sure because it's too early to comment. Will keep all posted

Unfortunately, im getting a wierd error Ihave never seen before, and everything is now reaaaaly unresponsive.
It says "android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly".
What can I do to stop this. sort of annoying cause my phone was actually pretty smooth and had great battery life before hand anyway!
EDIT:
While typing this message. I just got:
"com.android.settings" is not responding.

WHAT!>?
Where is it.
PS My phone is getting worse and worse.. the home keys barely work anymore. i have turned it on and off. I have even done that clear contacts cache under manage sources for contact info. Sometime when I try and wake the phone from sleep with the power lock button, it just stays off, for about 45 seconds. When it comes to, it is almost bricked.. just slow and the menus wont scroll properly.
Ah yes, google search leads me here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755968
So my HBOOT whatever that is, is 0.94.0000
im going to have to start my phone from scratch.. sorry guys I cant recommend this update for Aussie Optus people. maybe its something simple I dont know, but i updated it following the instructions perfectly, and the phone is now screwed. Im going to try and hard reset and reinstall everything on my phone all over again.

You're downloaded update had an error. Are you rooted from HTC dev? If not (judging from your question re hboot) take it back. The update failed and needs to be reflashed. Unfortunately without being rooted this can't be done. Easy enough to gain root but that has other consequences.

Hope this worked but I'm not sure it will. The android core process error is common with flashaholics who have not wiped a phone properly when changing base firmwares. Which is what we have done with the Optus ota. For me it worked fine.

The phone is now bricked guys. No I don't do any of this rooting stuff, I'm just learning the phone as it is from factory. I just got the Optus OTA installed it and now my phone is stuffed.
It's stuck on the 3 android with white background picture. I can't make the menu come up in this white screen. It just says "checking SD card update".
If I go to menu, normal menu with icons and sense 4.0, doesn't like any touch, completely unresponsive and will not accept me doing any functions, including resetting the phone. I can't do hard or soft reset.
Damn Optus update. Even before my phone got that green banding. Now this tops it off.
Two options return and enjoy new one. Or obtain root and flash ruu to return phone to stock software. Pick one and I can walk you through it. Will provide links to show you exact method but without flashing experience you will have questions that I can answer for you. Up to you which path you want to go.

Hi Guys -
unfortunately the incredible got bricked today after unroot. I unrooted, then allowed the official update to run, then tried a radio update and it went south - no charging light, wont turn on, wont fo in to HBOOT - notta. I am guessing that this is now my newest and most expensive paper weight but before I shot the patient I thought I would ask if there is a way to un-brick that did not come up while searching google or the forums. I know that I am 99% SOL.
Nope...not that I know of.

Assuming you were already on the 2.05 or 2.15 radio and ran the 2.05 radio update, you are indeed truly bricked. I don't believe anyone has found a way to recover from this.
VZW was nuts to try to save a little data by packaging a radio patch rather than a full radio update, but you get what you get when you deal with a leak.
^ was afraid of that, I was actually on the 1.xxxxx radio, oh well that is what I get for testing things out.

Hmm... well then it's not the well know problem of applying the 2.05 radio patch to the wrong version radio. Not sure what went wrong.

i had a similar problem. I'll tell you this. if its under manufacture warranty send it in. i did. they have to put a whole new board but its going to be free. If they have to replace the whole board i think it should be clear how we are never going to see a fix we can do anytime, or ever for that matter.
I was messing around with roms the other day and had the same issue. Did a battery pull and life was good again. Hope that works for you.

I know that today Verizon updated the support page for the new 2.2 update. That's a first. When I first saw the rumor I checked no updated page. Nyah! Went and did some other mom things.
Then engadget posted a picture. So I went and checked the support page again. There it was updated for the new 2.2 information. I can't wait to see what new rom's come out of this.
..........
Ok I have never rooted my phone, and never deviated from the stock android ROM. About a week ago my wifi randomly stopped working.
When I go to turn it on it simply says error, and rebooting it does not help.
I tried a factory reset and it did help, temporarily, but after powering the phone off and back on the next day it stopped working again!
This makes me think it is in fact a hardware problem. I also just recently upgraded to 2.3.4, but I'm almost certain this was happening before then. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?
Anyone know if Verizon will help me if I take it in? I do not have insurance (big mistake!)
Any help is greatly appreciated, I have read TONS of threads and cant find any info on this, besides from people who had modified roms.
Thanks in advanced!
On a vanilla (virgin) dInc, I'd say you are in fact facing a hardware issue. Have you tested with another WIFI connection manager app?
Search for "Wifi Manager" in the market, it's worked well for me in the past.
Awesome! Thanks so much man, Wifi manager did the trick! Very strange that it wouldn't work with the default wifi app, but I'm happy either way.
You made my day!
Looks like I spoke too soon...
It worked for about three minutes then it shut off. This seems so strange!
Any other ideas?
Are you running any sort of power management apps? Many of those will auto shut off your WiFi to save power.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
No I'm not, but funny you mention that because when I was (before my factory reset) I think thats when these issues first started.
I'm definitely not running any right now though.
Probably just a coincidence, but yea. Any ideas from anyone? I just bought the Seidio 3500mah battery! Would be a shame if the wifi is broken
Try rolling back to 2.2 via htc sync and the 2.2 ruu package. See if you still get the problem on 2.2, if not, stick with 2.2 or invoke the 2.3.4 update again (dialer *#*#checkin#*#*) and test again after the update. This should without further question determine whether there is a hardware problem or not.
Also, although unlikely, maybe your new battery is causing interference.
Try your best to test all of the basic variables before giving up.

You can't downgrade from 2.3.4 to 2.2. If what you say is true, then some rooted users who unrooted for the update with s-on need to know about this.
Not to be off topic, but do you someone who successfully did this?
how long have you had it if it is less than a year then htc will take care of you if it is over a year verizon might be talked into giving you an upgrade early. only way to know for sure is to go into verizon and see...

Thank you very much everyone for your suggestions. I tried everything but downgrading to 2.2 since I didn't know how. However I'm happy to report that my WiFi is now working again and I did nothing.
Well besides buying a new battery! I replaced my oem battery that I bought off amazon with a siedo 3500mah so not only am I getting insane battery life, but it made ky WiFi work!
I should have mentioned that my charge was averaging just three to four hours on my old battery. Maybe it was defective and not powerful enough to run WiFi?
I really don't know, but do hope that if someone is on my same position they find this thread helpful. Thanks again to everyone, these are very kind forums!

Glad you got it worked out!!
I rooted my phone about half a year ago, and now, finally I got back to the stock ROM. You may ask why, so here is why I initially rooted it, and then why I got back to the stock ROM.
My main reason for rooting was the extremly small sized internal storage. Even with the "stock" app2sd it was hell like fast full. Of course customizen played also a role, and I liked the ability to change like everything the way I like, but moving nearly the whole apps was the main reason.
So I finally decided to root my phone. The process was (in opposite of what I thought) really easy, especially with the help of this awesome guide and I chose "MIUI" as the first OS to try out. I really liked it, but I had some occasional crashes which I wasn't able to solve. But that wasn't the reason I got back to the stock ROM. After about 2-3 months with "MIUI" my complete phone got stock in a bootloop. Flashing the zip again wasn't succesfull, so I finally tried an older backup. This worked, but sadly all my SMS data and else got lost.
After some searching I tried out cyanogenMod. I liked it quite well, but I also got the crashes and freezes I got with MIUI, but I was able to live with it. But then, about a week ago, my phone got completly stuck in a bootloop, and instead of throwing it straight ahead into a wall, I flashed back to the stock ROM.
At first I was quite surprised how fluidly it runs, in comparision to cyanogenMod. Then I noticed, that you can't really switch between 3G and 2G data, and was afraid of getting out of energy much sooner. But the opposite happened, the battery lasts much longer than with the other two ROMs, and I hadn't had any crashes or complete freezes till yet. Also, I haven't got the great warning "Battery level 0% or lower (how is this even f*ing possible?), please connect to power source" I got on cyanogenMod, with the addition of my phone shutting down immediately afterwards.
So, long story, short: I really like the ability to root my phone and everything, and I do not regret having done it. It was a great experience, I now I know the "true" capability of android. But after all this trying out, I have to say, that I think I will now stick with the stock ROM, since it's more stable. Probably it was a hardware issue with my device, probably some kind of software bug. Maybe something of both.
just my quick thoughts, and sorry for my bad english, but it's not my native language
To each his own.
I've been using Cyanogenmod more often than any other rom and never experienced bootloops that is caused by the rom itself. It's always something I did with the rom. LOL
Well, that's also a possibility, but since I wasn't able to find the cause of it, I gave up. It was not only the bootloop, but also the quick battery draining and the complete freezes.
I understand where you are coming from... You just want it to work properly.
As for the battery, the default cm7 kernel isn't really that good compared with ManU kernel. That's the first thing I change when I flash.
Now I'm taking my stopwatch to count how long will it take for loons to start Runnymede or ICS recommendations.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Long story short??
Maybe you should publish the unedited version...could be a few volumes in that.
Also, will never go back to stock. I unrooted last year, so I could set up for S-Off, and couldn't wait to get back to a custom ROM. Slow, boring, low storage and boring.
You should use Runnymede, it's the best ROM ever!
Annddd there you have it Erklat.
haha. Funny. And necessarily runnymede
You have luck with the Battery, my phone say 15% or Lower and shutdown, if yours work down to 0%

Well, that was the problem with it...the battery showed 20 percent when it happened...
btw, the stock rom didn't solve that problem either, but at least the crashes are gone...it's still pretty weird, the battery level showed like 20% or more when it suddenly shut down...
Battery life has always been dreadful on the Desire no matter what ROM you use.
Now on the bootloop, Sandvold ICS Beta 0.4.4 ROM seems to be getting on well.
No bootloops whatsoever!
(Some lags and bugs may occure, but nothing you can't handle with a little bit of patience! )

That's a very good point.
Some common problems with the device sometimes only show up after a few days use and sometimes HTC wont repair your device if it's rooted, even if it's a hardware problem.
After a week any problems that it might have should have showed up
Thanks guys! Yeah I was kind of thinking the same thing. I suppose I can live with Stock for a week while I test everything out. I would definitely be pissed at myself if they wouldn't service it simply because I wanted Adblock over the next week. haha.
I usually give it a month or so before I do anything to void my warranty. I've had phones before that had something wrong with them that I didn't notice until they were no longer under warranty, so I give it a while before I bother. Plus, this phone is undoubtedly much faster than your previous, so even stock it should be a sizable boost. Enjoy it as it is for a little while, then when you put custom software, you'll get that boost again!
I had mine rooted and flashed straight out the box.

Give it a week or two. Longer the safer.
Thanks guys! You rock. I'm definitely gonna wait. I'm thinking a week or two so I can test every feature which I haven't been able to test (blue tooth, tethering, and more) or even discover for that matter.
And yes, I came from the Moto Milestone 2 to the Moto Backflip... To the One X. The experience isn't even comparable. I am so happy with the improvement I am just giddy over the fact that I have this super phone. No rush to throw custom on it when it's already this good. Only SERIOUS reason I would unlock for at the moment would be battery and AdFree purposes but for real, the battery isn't that bad.. Idk why people keep hating on it. I am a pretty heavy user too. I mean, it's got some serious hardware to run!

Yes, the so called 4.0.4 update should include this switch.
Not sure why HTC withhold this, maybe they want to directly jump to JB.

Yes, I'm in Hong Kong.
I can't find any changes yet except the machine is smoother than before.
I have a HK phone, I'm in the UK right now, just got the update.
This is the second 1.29 for HK, it is probably equivalent to 1.29.401.11, so should solve missing storage space and flickering, if you had those problems.
It could be equivalent to .12, we need to compare radio versions, I guess.

HTC just said the update improvement performance.
Test it for whole day. This is what I have noticed so far.
Speed improved when loading very large web page.
Bettery improved during 3G call.
Power consumption became normal in some mini games.
Faster charging time.
Less heat generated.
Seems more lag in facebook app. But seems battery improved.
The screen seems consume less power just got less then 40% after the update. It used to be 58%. However, it looks less contrast. (Nvidia PRISM??)

Hi Guys,
I am new to the forum but have been reading your phone reviews for a while and really pleased with the help and advice you have given in the past. I have the new HTC one X and never had any issue that other people have complained about etc etc, not one problem at all. its never overheated, never crashed, or had screen issues - BUT as soon I installed the new update my phone has been crashing all day. When my phone rings it turns off, when I leave it alone it reboots, half way through a conversation it reboots. I have not installed any additional apps after the update and as far as I know its only started after the update?? Also my battery is getting milked to death.
Also I am not that computer savvy so please keep the English in layman's terms!!!
Please help shed some light on this as I have been loving this phone, but its completely killing me at the moment.
Thanks again guys

If you don't mind losing your data, then Iwould suggest a factory rest.

Good plan. I guess if all else fails then I will have no choice. Is there a way I can save all my downloaded apps before I do full reset? Picture and videos not an issue, but some of the apps are huge files and don't really want to spend all day downloading them again.
Again, thanks for all your help.

well it's still 4.0.3....
what i concern about about is what enhancements have the update brought to our phones...
Hi,
I did not have to reset my phone in the end, very strange, I just let my battery die and gave it a full charge with the phone switched off. The next morning switched it on and perfect again. Very happy
Thanks
