The latest is the best. 3.35.20.10.
Mine came with it as default and I have never ever faced any sort of issue related to it.

[Q] Is the sms to wrong receiver bug still here?

Hello everybody. I'm interested in buying an HTC Desire as I found a nice offer and have been following Android developement for a while.
There is a big question mark though, and it's the infamous "sms to wrong receiver" bug. It has been spotted a few times in the past, and even though it's pretty rare I'd like to be sure that it may never occur.
I heard that update 2.3.2 for nexus S fixes this one, is there a solution for the Desire?
Thanks for your help
I think the solution is wait for Gingerbread... I hope we get 2.4 or at least 2.3.3...

Are there custom Roms which state clearly to have taken care of this issue and solved? Yeah this is a big concern for me
factor reset
maybe work
The problem is with the stock android sms app, as it doesn't just send it to the wrong contact, but somehow you end up in the wrong thread because of it handling jumping in and out of the app in an odd way. So using another sms app like chomp or handsend should resolve it.
Personally i haven't had it happen to me on the htc sms app either, and i've been using the phone for more than a year.
Also there is of course the roms based on vanilla 2.3.3 like oxygen, which should include the fix for the std. sms app.
edit: 123xdagsm that just shows, that you have no idea, what this bug is about.. No factory reset will of course not help, and if you read the thread you would know that he haven't even bought the phone yet.

It happened to me few times that a wrong thread opened.
Never had problem with phone sending to wrong person!
Android 2.3.2 has the SMS fix, the new Gingerbread custom ROMs have all have updated to 2.3.3 so they have the fix.
Thank you all for support, I'm now considering buying a Nexus S as I don't want to mess with ROMs that much (I guess I'll change my mind soon though ). If I can't find it with a decent price a Desire with a 2.3.2+ ROM is my choice!

[Q] HTC Firmware upgrades

Hi guys,
new newb here, i just had a question, i recently purchased Desire HD (3 months ago) since then i hear alot of ginger bread and all other versions coming out...but doesnt seem HTC is bothering to provide the firmware upgrade for Desire HD ..apart from the guys giving their Mods here..
Do i understand this correctly?
Laughter.
GB has started to be rolled out in Europe. As always with OTA ROM upgrades, patience is the key.
[EDIT] There's a thread dedicated to this subject on this very forum:

(Man I'm in a nice mood. See "Andy", I can be nice *rasp*) [/EDIT]
Or you can stop waiting, have fun and check out the naughtiness on the development forum )
i think i'll go the naughty way, whats the worst, a bricked phone good for hitting lizards with!
That's the attitude I like to see.
BTW, I edited my original reply with link to thread on update thread.

As a rule, bricked is bricked is bricked.
There are rumblings of fixes involving soldering resistors to a USB cable but nothing confirmed, that I know of.
For the moment, assume no fix. If bricked it will need to go back to HTC.
Sorry if that sounds nooby

No worries. It's what we're here for.
Thx m8 will avoid that at all cost lol

You can flash a ROM with out messing around with the radio, which is what can get your device bricked. Plus there's a Gingerbread ROM of the latest build (2.36) you can flash without even having your device rooted... search for ROM 2.36 and you'll find it plus instructions on how to.
Happy flashing
Is it the same version like the leaked one?
Lol I have flashed so much ****, from so many people, to so many devices. I follow the directions and xda-devz never fail me
I recommend leedroid or rc's if you like sense or cm7 for overall pwnage.
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
Is there any forum which inform which radio to be use with which rom, as to avoid any bricked from happen? Or something which we must not do as can cause bricked etc?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Mate, you cannot brick it unless you do something stupid in command line. Really any wrong flash combination is recoverable.

For Lee's rom, he usually specifies what radio will be better suited and a link to radio as well in the first post.

How to know if EVO can be rooted or not?

I got this EVO yesterday and I like to root it, how do I know if it rootable or not?
It says Android version 2.2
Software number 3.70.651.1
On HBOOT says S-ON
Thanks guys!
Yes. You can root it. Head over to the Evo forums and do a little reading. Check out the "stickies" and there should be a one-click root process for it.
Directions will walk you through it step by step. Read, take your time, read, and then go.
Best of luck.

How on earth did you get a phone with 2.2 on it? lmao. not fair! hahaha. Love how no one ever gives real answers on here and tells you to read 4000 posts just to get the information you need. lolz. I'll just give you hints. starts with unr?????? lets see if you can figure it out. lmao
Thanks guys I think you mean unrevoked.
I been around for a while but I'm new to the EVO.
Funny it still on 2.2 just got it for $100 yesterday in mint conditions.
A winner I think

I am a happy camper!
Now which rom do you guys recommend? I always used CyanogenMod before in my Nexus One and also on my HD2.
Decks 2.3.4 builds with savage zens kernel line has always been pretty awesome for me. Great battery, hella fast, and rock stable, its cyanogenmod with some cleaning up and tweaking. I've always felt it was faster and got better battery, just my opinion though

Check out my sig, depends on whether you like Sense or not. Personally, I flash whatever ROM drops the day, but AOSP is my best friend for battery life

Do you mind if I asked where you bought it.
I am thinking that maybe Sprint stores have new stock with 2.3 on it and maybe if I go to Radio Shack their stock would have 2.2 on it.

Asking which rom to update here is like asking which super model to slip the roofie too.
It doesn't matter they're all awesome.
However, our most popular dishes are (in no particular order):
2.2
MikFroyo
Myn Warm TwoPointTwo
Koni's Elite Series III
2.3 (w/sense 1.0)
SNS
Steelh
2.3 (aosp)
You've already got most of the list for that one
2.3 (sense 2.1/3.0)
MikG
Synergy
2.3 (sense 3.0)
Virus Kingdom
Mik and Myn also have 2.0 Roms but they aren't as good as the 2.1/3.0 ones so don't bother with those
Hope I helped out, welcome to the Evo forums.

[Q] WFS cyanogen-battery save-restrictions.

Hi all,
I'm new at xda and love to be involved with the devices. I searched something about my question but couldn't find anything that satisfy me. Thats why I made a post. If a made a mess, I already apologize for all.
I'm using Infrarom v0.3 on my Wildfire S and I'm very noob at android issues. So, could you please be clear?
my questions are:
1.What are the bugs of cyanogen 7.2? what makes cyanogen 7.2 better? or do you suggest me cyanogen 9 or higher?
2.What is the most battery-saver rom? cuz Infrarom is quite bad at battery performance.
3.Is there any restriction to get back in terms on kernel or something if I flash cyanogen or other roms?
King regards
Uncle

The only bug remaining in cyanogenmod 7 is the usb tethering. It drains battery faster than stock roms too but it is the best among cyanogenmod roms.
Stock roms are the best at battery performance so I suggest you to have a look at this thread

Thank you so much for the answer. it is so clear. I will try cyanogen mod 7. I appreciate if you give a link for best cyanogem mod 7. because there are too many and I lost myself among them
when it comes to restrictions, there was some limitations in iOS. For instance, if you update your iphone to 4.1 version, you can't downgrade it to 3.1 anymore. maybe in illegal ways but it was quite painful. thats what i meant there. I apologize for my awful wording

yes I did all. wipe,flash.etc.. But, I didn't like it. it wasn't faster than my old Infrarom. Only the visual things are good. Also, I flashed Gapps and it works but i couldn't download any apps. because it doesn't download anything. Just waiting waiting and waiting... no error or something...
whatever. I will try another roms. Because I have to solve my problems. I can't talk with someone because of my handset. Sound is too low. I can't hear anything when I go out. I have to use speaker on every call. Do you know anything that make my handset sound higher? not the speaker just handset.
One more, touch menu buttons are not working. I tought that it is realated with the rom. Now, I think it isn't. Because there is no setting about it. And I changed my rom, problem is not solved.

Yeah... Cm7 is quite old and the problem might be because of the gapps.
Does that handset problem exist in every Rom? If it is solved by switching roms, it is a software problem. If It's not solved, it is a hardware problem and it is advised to take your phone to the service.
Touch input is mainly caused by improper flash of gapps. Try wiping it and flash everything again

Phone reboots after entering SIM card pin code

Hello,
I just updated my phone to the last MIUI version (3.5.24) and have an issue: after typing my sim card pin code the phone softreboots, and there's no way of passing through there with the sim card. Can use the phone without it. That happened to me too on the previous release, but not on 3.5.10, which I can still use.
Did a full wipe and the problem with this version persist. I heard some people having the same issue, so I guess it is a rom bug?
If anyone has any idea, please share!

Yes, I did, and the problem still there. I tried using my card in another device and it works, and with previous releases, and with different roms and it also works. The problem only exists in the last two miui releases, but not everyone is having the problem... Is quite strange, don't you think?

Contrary to what I used to believe, the hardware axross the dhds and inspire differs ever so slightly depending on when it was produced. Its only very small differences which is why we have these little anomlies in some roms/kernals working for most but refuse to work for a handfull of users. You might want to find a different rom.
