[Q] WFS cyanogen-battery save-restrictions. - HTC Wildfire S

Hi all,
I'm new at xda and love to be involved with the devices. I searched something about my question but couldn't find anything that satisfy me. Thats why I made a post. If a made a mess, I already apologize for all.
I'm using Infrarom v0.3 on my Wildfire S and I'm very noob at android issues. So, could you please be clear?
my questions are:
1.What are the bugs of cyanogen 7.2? what makes cyanogen 7.2 better? or do you suggest me cyanogen 9 or higher?
2.What is the most battery-saver rom? cuz Infrarom is quite bad at battery performance.
3.Is there any restriction to get back in terms on kernel or something if I flash cyanogen or other roms?
King regards
Uncle

The only bug remaining in cyanogenmod 7 is the usb tethering. It drains battery faster than stock roms too but it is the best among cyanogenmod roms.
Stock roms are the best at battery performance so I suggest you to have a look at this thread

I don't get what you mean by that restriction

Thank you so much for the answer. it is so clear. I will try cyanogen mod 7. I appreciate if you give a link for best cyanogem mod 7. because there are too many and I lost myself among them
when it comes to restrictions, there was some limitations in iOS. For instance, if you update your iphone to 4.1 version, you can't downgrade it to 3.1 anymore. maybe in illegal ways but it was quite painful. thats what i meant there. I apologize for my awful wording

yes I did all. wipe,flash.etc.. But, I didn't like it. it wasn't faster than my old Infrarom. Only the visual things are good. Also, I flashed Gapps and it works but i couldn't download any apps. because it doesn't download anything. Just waiting waiting and waiting... no error or something...
whatever. I will try another roms. Because I have to solve my problems. I can't talk with someone because of my handset. Sound is too low. I can't hear anything when I go out. I have to use speaker on every call. Do you know anything that make my handset sound higher? not the speaker just handset.
One more, touch menu buttons are not working. I tought that it is realated with the rom. Now, I think it isn't. Because there is no setting about it. And I changed my rom, problem is not solved.

Yeah... Cm7 is quite old and the problem might be because of the gapps.
Does that handset problem exist in every Rom? If it is solved by switching roms, it is a software problem. If It's not solved, it is a hardware problem and it is advised to take your phone to the service.
Touch input is mainly caused by improper flash of gapps. Try wiping it and flash everything again

I think you should try. I'm currently using stock, I'm not disappointed. I don't have big lag like others...
People praise JellyKing from kantry123, you can also flashign.
However, any change rom on my end CM9/10 back to stock.

[Q] Is the sms to wrong receiver bug still here?

Hello everybody. I'm interested in buying an HTC Desire as I found a nice offer and have been following Android developement for a while.
There is a big question mark though, and it's the infamous "sms to wrong receiver" bug. It has been spotted a few times in the past, and even though it's pretty rare I'd like to be sure that it may never occur.
I heard that update 2.3.2 for nexus S fixes this one, is there a solution for the Desire?
Thanks for your help
I think the solution is wait for Gingerbread... I hope we get 2.4 or at least 2.3.3...

Are there custom Roms which state clearly to have taken care of this issue and solved? Yeah this is a big concern for me
factor reset
maybe work
The problem is with the stock android sms app, as it doesn't just send it to the wrong contact, but somehow you end up in the wrong thread because of it handling jumping in and out of the app in an odd way. So using another sms app like chomp or handsend should resolve it.
Personally i haven't had it happen to me on the htc sms app either, and i've been using the phone for more than a year.
Also there is of course the roms based on vanilla 2.3.3 like oxygen, which should include the fix for the std. sms app.
edit: 123xdagsm that just shows, that you have no idea, what this bug is about.. No factory reset will of course not help, and if you read the thread you would know that he haven't even bought the phone yet.

Never had problem with phone sending to wrong person!
Android 2.3.2 has the SMS fix, the new Gingerbread custom ROMs have all have updated to 2.3.3 so they have the fix.
Thank you all for support, I'm now considering buying a Nexus S as I don't want to mess with ROMs that much (I guess I'll change my mind soon though ). If I can't find it with a decent price a Desire with a 2.3.2+ ROM is my choice!

(Q) New to HTC. Need some help.

Hy guys, I've just bought a new HTC desire HD. I'm not new to android but new to HTC. So how's CM 7.2 performing?

I've been wondering how is the latest cyanogenmod 7.2 performing on the Desire. Are there any kernel changes since 7.1? I'm a sucker for Oxygen, considering switching to cyanogenmod though. Not really sure what the REAL differences are (aside from some crap apps they put in CM so I can remove them right away) between these two?
Last time I used it, pretty good. Stable above anything else. Not nearly fast as oxygen though.
I kinda like the cm toys, wish I had some of them available with oxygen
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA
I use the latest RC of CM7.2 and it's a good experience. Not very different from CM 7.1, but might be much more stable than oxygen. The only time i used oxygen was with Mildwild, but this ROM was crashing like hell, so CM might be much more stable (except when using the inbuilt rights management).

I flashed it into a new inspire, and all I can report right now is success. No bug yet. Thing I've noticed is that my RAM's gone down to about 575. I'd really fancy accounting the rest of it. I'm kinda new to custom rom though (took me like 3 days from zero to perform the flash with AAHK).

You're on wrong forums mate.
Mine is performing quite well. Actually I haven't found much difference between the 7.1 and 7.2 either.
It is still very fast
Everything seems to be running smooth for my Desire as well.
Only issue I have, and it is not a new experience for me with CM, is that my in call volume is significantly lower than it is in the stock Froyo ROM from USCellular.
I can deal with it, but it makes phone calls a pain to hear in most cases.
Looking for a fix now.

With 7.2.0 i was loosing connectivity with mobile network, the phone showed no service message. When i have upgrade to 7.2.0.1 this problem was gone, but the whole system felt very slow and laggy. Even scrolling applications list was laggy, so i decided to not continue my story with Cyanogenmod and switch to anything else.

Same here, but with 7.2.0.1
I have tried everything I can think of, reflashed CM7 a few times, radio, different kernels. Nothing fixes it, and the phone is unusable.
Same here. Just flash RIL 18G,works perfectly.

I upgrade my Desire BravoC to 7.2.0 from 7.1.0 and had to go back because it was contently rebooting every time I tried to install or update any of my software. The only reason I wanted 7.2.0 was because after awhile my phone shows up as not being compatible with certain apps in the market, the funniest thing is that it shows this for apps that I have already installed.
I can't comment on the network problems others are having, just because my wouldn't stay on long enough to test it.

A help thread

Hey everyone!
Some of you may know me, or of my work (RobotoMOD, ParanoidAndroid Port), those of you who do know me may also know me by my actual name: Ivan. I don't mind which you call me
More to the point of the thread, I'm making this for anyone who has any questions or comments about anything, it doesn't have to be dev related - it could be a question about Android in general, or if there are apps out there that can do something you want your phone to do, or it could just be that you want to chat.
Whatever it is, post it here. If you feel your thread in the Q&A section isn't getting the attention it requires, I will do my best to answer it to the best of my ability, and in plain, simple English for those who have English as a second language. If it's chatting you're after, or just want to leave a comment, do so! And I'll be sure to make conversation and make new friends with the people I share the same device with.
I generally check the forums every 20-30 minutes when I'm on my computer, and every couple of hours when I'm on my phone - except for when I'm really busy and can't check, so you can be (almost) sure that you'll receive a reply to your post within a day.
Go! :victory:
This maybe a good plan but I personally would want to discourage people from posting questions in the general section....... It is to help them use their eyes and brains before posting anything

As far as I know, there aren't even AOSP ROMs for marvel.
I see cm7 and cm9 which is pure aosp, but they say the marvelc isn't getting much love, or isn't as stable as the gsm version

I think you're a bit confused. CM7 and CM9 aren't pure AOSP. AOSP is Android Open Source Project - that's vanilla Android as Google makes it. CM (CyanogenMod) is a custom ROM that's based on AOSP, adding features and other things. There's CM9 for marvelc, in the same thread as for marvel, and to my knowledge it's pretty stable, but since the dev has a marvel and not a marvelc, he can't test out bugs. I'm not sure about CM7 though.
CM7.2 RC1-marvel-KANG - Wireless N function not available?
Hi,
This is a repost, but I haven't had a response so I thought I'd ask you, seeing as you have made such a kind offer of assistance. I would have asked in the Development section, but I don't have enough posts yet to ask there.
I have a Wildfire S (a510b GSM Australian Telstra base phone) on which I have installed the CM7.2 RC1-marvel-KANG ROM.
I do not appear to be able to see any Wireless N WIFI connections, I think it is a radio issue and that I might need to flash a new radio. However I do not know anything about radio firmware or where to get the correct radio for my phone to allow WIFI N?
What would I need to do to get wireless N working on CM7, it worked on the the stock HTC Sense before I flashed the CM7 ROM?
Many thanks for your help!

Phone reboots after entering SIM card pin code

Hello,
I just updated my phone to the last MIUI version (3.5.24) and have an issue: after typing my sim card pin code the phone softreboots, and there's no way of passing through there with the sim card. Can use the phone without it. That happened to me too on the previous release, but not on 3.5.10, which I can still use.
Did a full wipe and the problem with this version persist. I heard some people having the same issue, so I guess it is a rom bug?
If anyone has any idea, please share!

Yes, I did, and the problem still there. I tried using my card in another device and it works, and with previous releases, and with different roms and it also works. The problem only exists in the last two miui releases, but not everyone is having the problem... Is quite strange, don't you think?

Contrary to what I used to believe, the hardware axross the dhds and inspire differs ever so slightly depending on when it was produced. Its only very small differences which is why we have these little anomlies in some roms/kernals working for most but refuse to work for a handfull of users. You might want to find a different rom. Changing the kernal may help??
