Hello,
I rooted and s-off my dhd by using aahk approx one year ago. Everything fine and I testet a lot of roms.
Now I like to upgrade the radio and read that a eng-off is also necesarry. I try to find out if my device already eng.off. But I couldn't.
Did anyone know if the device is also eng-off after using aahk ? Or does anyone know another way to find out ?
Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just go to bootloader.. Turn off your device, then press volume down + power button. You will see a bootloader info. At the top, it should show "Ace pvt eng s-off"

If it says S-off, which it does, you are S-off.

Oops, thanked you. If you want to flash a radio you just need S-Off.
S_OFF tool recommendation
Hey, I had run the ACE kit, but somehow put the S back ON (it's a mystery inside an enigma!), and now just want to run an S_OFF tool: my kernel is the 3.0.62_JellyTime_R5-g8e08b6e-dirty ... the tools in the fora all seem to have been specific to Fro/GB, so I need to ask which one is best to run, given my kernel?
And 4.2.1
DHDa9191
Like our original poster, I too want to flash a new radio to get RAW POWER on a legacy slate. Thanks for your help.

S-Off is not an option unless you are an expert. AAHK, the tool used to get it, was retired earlier this week. Root and custom ROMs are still possible with an unlocked bootloader, but getting S-Off is no longer a simple procedure.
cool, so which way

I don't mind getting dirty - but is gfreev.2 alright to roll with given my kernel? it worked the first time, in the kit, but I don't need the whole ACE, just need to smack the sec back out of the device if you have input on the compatibility of gfree v.2 given the updated kernel, please
I have no idea what gfree is...what is it?
Advantage of newer radio ?

Can you recommend me to upgrade the radio ?
I mean I understand that it's always a risk but without that point. Will I have a advantage with newer radio ?
currently I have Radio Radio_12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03_M on my DHD.
And like to flash 12.65.60.29_26.14.04.28_M or 12.68.60.29U_26.16.04.09
As far as I understand the first variant is the last official radio and sencond one is newest but from unknown source

I have tried to flash kkernel v6, v11 and OCbuzz.

someone please help me.
You need ENG S-OFF for the Kernel Update Utility to work, as it says in the requirements.
With ship S-OFF you can only flash via ClockworkMod, so you have two options: use CWM, or get yourself ENG S-OFF.
Kernel update don't show in the bootloader. What you are looking at is the radio version.
You need to boot the phone and then go settings>about phone>software and it will show which kernel you are running there.

Why is that different?
ENG S-OFF comes with engineering bootloader, which allows to issue fastboot commands to the bootloader through USB.
Oh, thanks
I didn't know FASTBOOT USB was only available from the ENG HBOOT .
Well actually it is available in SHIP hboot, too, but it just does not allow the user to do much

Here is my advice you have stated at bottom of your post your running leedroid 1.3a don't waste your time trying to flash the kernel as leedroid is built on 1.72 and you will be back on here ask long why your mic doesn't work or something else as there is no kernel compatible with the 1.72 as of yet HTC have not released it so your better of just getting Eng s-off and flashing the recommended radio from leedroids first post till a compatible kernel is available
From England with leedroid dhd techo!

Also ı can not downgrade hboot version.is there anyway that ı can do this processes on this updated version?

Ok so your device is SHIP son not ENG which is almost the same just a bit different in how you flash radios etc.
Now after it had been locked again, use AAHK Advanced Ace Hack Kit. The tool can be found in dev section. Let AAHK run its thing. It will complete root in 10 minutes or so. Please READ as much as you can and as many times as possible before rooting. Non English speaking useres find it especially hard and then come back with even a worse problem then before just for the lack of reading and understanding.
Aftet you have used AAHK your device will be rooted, you will have SHIP S-OFF and you can flash any custom ROM you'd like.

Hello guys!
Please help me out! This is my first thread here
Well, Mine's, obviously, an HTC Desire HD
Well, this is my first time with an htc, before this it was motorola(i.e EASY)
So I used aahk to downgrade to froyo, which btw, was a total success!
And then I used option 1 to S-off and root, and then I'm stuck with the htc logo..
However I'm able to get to H-Boot and CWM, although I think there must have been some error while it happened...
Now, I can't say I haven't been messing around or anything, but one for sure, I've been doing things like factory reset and wiping dalvik, things like that
Please I hope you guys are still out there, with this device...
Even trying to return to s-on and all that seems to fail..
Please put me in the light over here
I'd be grateful
Also, If you're kind enough to help me out personally, email me @ashindnile (gmail.com)
I live in Argentina, so if you're around, I'll owe you a beer
Ciao!!!
Thank you,

You have not downgraded to froyo. The Kit does not do that, or you would be asking for help to fix your bootloader.
Anyway, if you are S-OFF and have CWM, you can do what guy tells you or do what the effen manual and re run the hack kit from the white screen.

Bootloader unlock and S-Off are different things. You can root and flash ROMs with bootloader unlock; you don't need S-Off to do that. Flash a recovery from fastboot and flash root from recovery. Read the Ace Think Tank thread in DHD General.

Dave, for the sake of neatness do not double post. Just ask your questions in one place only. You have already asked this somewhere else.
To Sim unlock your device using a software tool, you will have to gain S-OFF also. AAHK2 will do that. Use the search function or look for it in the general section of the forum.

Compared to others my HBOOT is as old as it can be , but it's not radio or rom so if it doesn't do anything else than booting the phone I really don't care
P.S. If newer version is booting the phone 3-5 seconds faster, that would be a reason for update

I'd like to point out for you that the op boot loader is already fully unlocked unlike htcdev unlock which have big restrictions ie no kernel flashing, from memory you can't mount system as rw (could be wrong as I forgot, long time ago). No splash screen changing unless you have the skills to s-off your htcdev.
Please read op again carefully and find out what .85 and eng s-off means.
Edit oh you said boot loader nothing important hahaha your funny

I'd like to point out for you that the op boot loader is already fully unlocked unlike htcdev unlock which have big restrictions ie no kernel flashing, from memory you can't mount system as rw (could be wrong as I forgot, long time ago). No splash screen changing unless you have the skills to s-off your htcdev.

What i meant was that For the average already-rooted user, there aren't any important reasons of Consequence to update it except if you always want the newest.
Also your post was quite rude even if you may have more Knowledge about HBoot.

No, not rude just informing you of your miss information.
I would not want people who have hboot 0.85 and eng off, updating to 2.029 and loosing the advantage of eng boot loader.
Edit - Actually I read my post again and I can't see how it can be rude, I even said "please"
Anyway, Have a lovely day.
