Hi, Brand new Noob here, but hoping someone can help…I’ve had a good scour around and can’t find the answer. We have a Htc one x from orange uk (cid orang001) stuck at “quietly brilliant” screen following an attempt to load ViperX 2.6.0. After downloading, the MAC unzipped the ROM so this was just rezipped back up and transferred over to the SD card, without any special conditions. ( I’ve since read somewhere that this might cause issues)
USB debugger was enabled but its not possible to enable it now.
Fastboot works ok, and we’ve flashed the boot ok, but ADP isn’t working, so it isn’t possible to push the correct ROM.ZIP to the SDcard. CWM is installed.
We’ve seen the post for an updated CWM with ADP enabled on this here but that states its only for at&t models. If we could get ADP working we’d be able to push the correct ROM over, so this would seem the easiest way if possible.
I wanted to avoid doing a RUU in case the phone would end up bricked, but I can’t get the correct version anyway.
Command ./fastboot getvar version-main returns
version-main: 3.16.61.6 and the noob guide at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859714 says we can’t use a lower version….the nearest RUU I can find is 1.29.061.11 (released on 31/01/2013).
Any ideas on how best to recover this phone? The issue might not be anything to do with the zipping of the ROM, but then I have no idea why its not working…I’m hoping it’s a simple procedure, but I fear it may not be! Please Help!
any help would be much appreciated!!
First of all go and boot into the bootloader, hold down the power button and the volume - button together as long as it takes to get in the bootloader. Do not let go of the buttons before you are in !!!
Check the bootloader, what does it say on top
Probably
Unlocked ?
Endeavouru ?
Hboot : tell me ?
And tell me which recovery you flashed type and version !

Help!
I have studied the forum and have come close to trying to fix my problem but the bravery to actually act on my thoughts has escaped me at the moment!
I have got an HTC One X which I got 2nd hand, it has the following:
Android 4.1.1
HTC Sense 4+
Software Number InsertCoin One X 17.1.0
Kernel version 3.1.10-g03b5369 (If that makes any sense)
When I do the power button and the down button I get the following:
UNLOCKED
S-ON
HBOOT 1.39.0000
It also has Clockwork Recovery on it - V6.0.2.7
Its unlocked but it looks like it came from 3 UK originally.
The CID is H3G___001
3.14.771.34
All I really want to do is either take it back to stock or put a custom rom on it with good battery life and all the Sense widgets which this one does not have. I understand doing that may blow the battery life though.
It looks like if I want to use the Nandroid back up I need TWRP backup installed for the image file but I dont have that and dont really know how to get it.
Just need some help in what to do and the steps to take to do what I want.
As I say I have searched and got this far but not brave enough to move on.
Many thanks
Trying a different rom with a custom kernel would be the easiest solution !
Lets start with downloading this Rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2027029
Steps :
1: copy the rom.zip to the sdcard
2: copy the boot.img file from the rom.zip to the fastboot folder on the pc
3: put the phone in the bootloader and flash the boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
4: unhook the usb cable and enter the recovery
5: perform a full wipe
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced - wipe dalvik cache
Mounts & storage - format cache, data, system
Then install the new rom.zip
Install zip from sdcard
Choose zip from sdcard
Navigate to the blade rom.zip and install it.
Edit: ninja'd

Yesterday I tried Replaces CM10 but something went wrong and whenever I turn on my mobile it switches on only in ClockworkMod and if I'll click in reboot mobile turn up into ClockworkMod again. Please what should I do?
also it would help if you knew how to reset the boot, I accidentally had set ClockworkMod as a boot.
or if you knew how to get to the storage.
Sorry if it was already there
Whats your hboot number ?
Its stated in the bootloader, its like 1.12 or 1.31, 1.36, 1.39

Help my hox is lock on sentinel 4.75 and I cant flash any other rom onto it.
Every time I try to load another rom it crashed at the htc boot screen and never load (I have left it for up to 20 mins)
When this happens the only thing I can do is reload a nandroid of sentinel 4.75 and flash the boot image to return to my previous rom.
I have tried multiple roms including probam, sentinel 5.0, xenonhd and icj with no luck on any of them.
I am on Hboot 1.31 and have installed philz recovery.
Recently I found that my phone had no root access and had to reflash the rom - again the only one that worked was sentinel 4.75
Is there anything I can do to fix my phone to allow me to load another rom. Im finding different issues every time I reload sentinel and would really love to load something else.
Update the hboot
I am guessing that you are forgetting to flash the boot image included in the rom you desire to install.
For example you want to install sentinel v5.00.
update: forgot to mention that you need to update your hboot to run newer roms. you can find proper
hboot update files for your cid in xda forum. Credits to Mr Hofs for the reminder.
Follow these steps.
Technical terms:
adb or fastboot folder: a folder where you have fastboot.exe and adb.exe
HOX: HTC One X
preparation:
a. go to your fastboot or adb folder and rename any 'boot.img' to anything else, like sentinel475.img
b. download the zip file of the rom you want to install
c. copy this zip file into your HOX
d. open the zip file and copy the 'boot.img' file into your adb or fastboot folder
e. make sure your HOX has atleast 60% charge(50% is also fine)
Flashing procedure:
Reboot into recovery
Select 'wipe data/factory reset'
Select 'wipe data/factory reset for new rom' ( applicable to philz recovery only)
Then go back to main menu in recovery
Select 'install zip from sdcard'
Select the zip file, the one you copied to your HOX
Once it has been flashed properly
Reboot into bootloader
connect your HOX with your PC and make sure the HOX display shows 'fastboot usb' in red
open a command window and go to your fastboot folder
type in fastboot flash boot boot.img
type in fastboot erase cache
type in fastboot reboot
disconnect your hox and wait for 5 to 7 minutes for hox to boot into desktop
Thats it. I always follow these steps and everything is fine. You also have to flash gapps zip file but we need to get a proper rom
loaded first before we can do anything else. gapps is always flashable later so no worries about it.
BTW, does it say 'Unlocked' or 'Relocked' in your bootload on the top of the screen?
Can you post the steps you are following to flash other roms? May be you are missing some steps.
Most of the times, a rom will not boot if you don't flash the boot.img that came with the rom.
Thanks, and let me know your results
[Disclaimer: If you follow these steps then you automatically agree to not hold me and all xda forum staff and members responsible for
any damage that might have resulted following or not following these instructions properly or improperly.]
Leave the steps above for now. First give me the outcome of
Fastboot getvar version-main
Thanks rowlf I have installed a few roms before and am familiar with the installation process.
Sorry mistaken it is hboot 1.36
Mr hofs - the version is 3.14.707.24
In case you need cid is HTC__044
I suggest you run the ruu to get back to full stock and try to update via official ota.
http://www.androidruu.com/getdownlo...Radio_5.1204.162.29_release_296434_signed.exe
Get the hboot higher up.
Edit :
1.36 ? Thats fine for all roms. When you install a new one i always advice to do the full wipe manually. Factory reset, wipe caches and format cache, data and system ! Then install the rom.
I am a noob for the noob in this field... i am trying to learn quite a bit.... i have tried to get back to stock sense5.0 on my HOX after using CM10.2 (cid : htc_038) (hboot : 1.73.0000 ; relocked ) i used CWM recovery 5.8.4.0 ... i dont what i did wrong but my phn just went into a boot loop (just showing hTc logo ) i again flashed CWM recovery from then my usb mount is not working ...
so wt i just need now is ..
1. just how to mount my usb ...
2.how to get my stock sense 5 ...
i already erased everything in my sd nd internal too... i erased cache before the first attempt also,....
i reffered countless threads but none of them worked for me... please friends some one take a little time in replying me... am in a very bad state r8 now....
PS : touch does not work in my recovery so TWRP is useless to me... :crying: it says slide to unlock
anything now... let it be sense or CM ... i just want my phn to turn on... :crying:

One thing, UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER then flash a custom recovery and a custom ROM.
1: unlock bootloader
2: get your main version number :
Fastboot getvar version-main
Take that number and go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140
3: Download the matching nandroid backup and flash the boot.img and recovery.img
4: enter the recovery and copy the nand to the sdcard by enabling mass storage
5: make a full wipe in the recovery and restore the nandroid backup
6: reboot
If the recovery from the nandroid does not give you ums acces then flash this recovery first
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yqzlpqo8illa53j/Philz recovery 5.15.9.img
Enter it and enable mass storage, wait literally for a few minutes to let it pop up. Then copy the nand. And start over at point 3 !

Your choice
First of all, I want to tell that I am a beginner and do not know much about rooting and custom ROM installation.
Few days back, I became very keen to know what is custom ROM and is there any custom ROM available for my HTC One X. I searched through internet and found one, downloaded it. Rooted my phone, Unlocked bootloader. After that I installed CWM touch recovery. Everything was going great. Then, I first flashed the kernel given along with that custom ROM. it Flashed. Then, I flashed that Custom ROM. I Showed an error. I flashed it twice or thrice but it stucked on that error. Also in a Hurry, or Excitement, I forgot to take a backup of my previous ROM. After that, I switched on my phone it does nothing and stucked at HTC Bootscreen. I factory reset my phone, it wiped all data from phone. I Thought, a RUU would work, but it also doesn't worked.
I went to HTC Service Center, they are saying that motherboard will be replaced, which is almost of same cost of phone. I cannot spend so much.
I tried so many ways, but nothing worked.
So, I am Finally here seeking help from Experts. Any help will be highly appreciable.
Sorry for my bad English.

sorry for this stupid question. But how to use ADB Sideload..??
Just mount the sdcard in the mounts and storage menu ! No need for adb sideload
And don't just install the rom, you must perform a full wipe before that !
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Wipe dalvik cache
Format system
Format data
Format cache
Then install the rom !

If that doesn't work try this , this is what I did when I bricked my HTC One X:
1. Download Fastboot
2. Download adb
3. Download cm-10.2.1-endeavoru.zip (https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=endeavoru)
(I used this one , it's justs so you get your SD Card Working again and you can
put ROMS and everything on it again)
4. Download openrecovery-twrp-2.4.0.0-endeavoru-JB (http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/endeavoru)
(This one will be used because it has touch ability's and you can install ROMS with it )
4.1 Or you can download recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.7-endeavoru.img (a.k.a Philz recovery)
(This one will be used because it has touch ability's and you can install ROMS with it )
( I used Philz recovery 5.15.9.img (provided by Mr Hofs -> who is a great guy btw)
5. Download openrecovery-twrp-endeavoru-2.1.7 (http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/endeavoru
(This one will be used for adb push commands, openrecovery-twrp-endeavoru-2.1.7 has a built
in ability for your sd-Card , adb can recoginze it but the problem is your touch will not work.)
6. Go into bootloader -> fastboot and do this:
6.1 fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-endeavoru-2.1.7.img
7. Go into recovery (Hboot -> recovery)
7.1 just open the recovery, your touch will probably not work. DONT LOCK IT JUST LEAVE IT OPEN
(ADB sideload didn't work for me so that's why we are going to do this)
IF YOUR TOUCH WORKS YOU CAN SKIP STEP 8
7.2 do this command: adb devices
If you don't find your devices in this then the next steps will not work.
YOU HAVE TO SEE YOUR DEVICE
7.3 do this command: adb push cm-10.2.1-endeavoru.zip /sdcard/
You can only do cm-10.2.1-endeavoru.zip if the zip file is located in the same folder your using
with command. I'm not sure about /sdcard/ . I cant remember anymore But this will put the
but this will put the zip Directly on your SDcard.
8. Go to bootloader -> fastboot
8.1 do this command: fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.4.0.0-endeavoru-JB.img
8.2 or do this command: fastboot flash recovery Philz recovery 5.15.9.img
Your touch wasn't working but it will work now.
9. Go to booloader -> fastboot
9.1 extract the boot.img from the Download cm-10.2.1-endeavoru.zip into the fastboot folder
9.2 do this command fastboot flash boot boot.img
9.3 fastboot erase cache
10. Go back to recovery
10.1 Wipe User Data
10.2 Wipe data cache
10.3 Go to advanced -> wipe Dalvik Cache
11. Install zip from sdcard
11.1 Choose cm-10.2.1-endeavoru.img
11.2 Install the zip WITH full wipe
12. After the install, reboot. You should have a full functional HTC ONE X now
13. Now but your ROM's(ZIP FILES)/Recovery(ZIP FILES)/Kernels and everything you want on your HTC because
You can see your HTC on your PC again!
