Can anyone tell me the difference between these 2 ROMs? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Carbon ROM
Liquid Smooth ROM
I am currently running Liquid Smooth, but I'd like to know the difference between the two. I asked in the thread but no one responded to me any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try them both out and see which you like best! I use CarbonRom & love it. I can't really tell you about LiquidSmooth though because I only tested it once a few months ago.

Read the OP of the rom and/or flash it and find out for yourself.
I like to break stuff!

It's a little difficult to list all the features. I really just suggest you make a nandroid backup of your current setup & then flash CarbonRom to try it out for a little! Then you can always go back if you don't like it since you made a backup.

I'm currently on Carbon v1.3, but I think the differences between the two are nominal at best.
This is directly from the CarbonRom goo.im page:
Android 4.2.2
PIE
Xposed Framework (May cause stability or performance issues - use at your own risk!)
Comprehensive speed enhancements, including Linaro -O3 and processor-specific optimizations
Unofficial Voodoo Sound support on Note 2 and i9300 devices.
Option to hide lockscreen hints
Carousel lockscreen
Customizable lockscreen buttons and sliders
Chronus clock widget
Customizable hardware and software keys
Transparent navbar and status bar
Customizable navbar ring
Navbar arrow keys
Navigation bar widgets
Customizable power menu
Notification power widget
Notification brightness adjustment
Customizable quicksettings panel
Statusbar mods including center clock and color
LCD Density
Theme engine
Quiet hours
Volume rocker music controls
Full Rotation
Customizable battery and notification light
More that haven't even been mentioned, and more to come!
I know that Liquid doesn't have a feature list or changelog on their xda thread, but I have used it in the past. When I look at the list of items in CarbonRom, I can't see any that weren't available in LiquidSmooth. Maybe PIE wasn't available, I honestly can't really remember (I don't use it on CarbonROM anyways, any place I docked it would mess up one of my normal actions).
In my opinion, they're both extremely smooth, have excellent battery life, and are being developed. I personally like flashing updates more than the normal person (which I know could very well be a bad thing), so I went with Carbon since recently the updates have been more frequent (I have held off on 1.4, though, since I've heard of some issues in it that would affect my everyday use).
Anyways, as most people on here have already said (in much fewer words than I've used), any differences are minor and as long as you TB and Nandroid backup your stuff, you should be able to test-drive both ROMs in an afternoon and see which one you like.

Thank you. I was reading through the thread and I also saw a lot of problems with the new version. So I think I'll hold off. Plus the fact that Liquid is coming out with a huge update by the weekend!

If you're a fan of the cLock, CarbonRom's version isn't completely functional.

ROMS like MIUI for d2att?

I just wanted to know if there were any ROMs like MIUI in the aspect of customizability, I love the way MIUI changes absolutely everything about everything, such as the settings menu and lockscreen, pretty much ever menu out there, I just want my sgs3 to stand out you know? I want to know if there are any other ROMs similar that change the phone completely, I would use MIUI but it is too similar with IOS, no app drawer and such, thanks in advance! Please no trolling, I have looked around and couldn't seem to find any. Cheers!

Might I suggest giving this one a try.

Options - lock screen mods
- notification pull down mods including background
- custom led colors ( you choose )
- customs vibration patterns ( you make )
Many many more. Add in a theme using built in theme chooser and away you go.

Haha I'm currently using this ROM, and I didn't even know those options! I feel kinda dumb right now lol, thanks!
But I was kind of thinking along the lines of completely changing how android looks, apart from JB and ICS I was looking for something that doesn't look too much like "android".
In that case I would suggest you have a look at some of the home screen threads or the theme threads to get a completely different look. You most likely going to need a theme and/or icon packs and spend quite a bit of time customizing how your phone looks. Oh, and the options in the ROM your running are in settings, ROM control. Here for working led colors

Might be just a silly question, but where do I find the themes? Are they connected to the AOKP ROM itself?

[Q] Android 4.2 mod or rom for old AOKP toggles.

I'm currently on android 4.1 with an AOKP-based rom. I've been looking at several android 4.2 roms and while some of them look like they've got a lot of great features, I really don't want to give up my current toggles. I don't like there being a separate pane/tab for toggles in the notification menu (along with having an extra step to switch back and forth). I don't need a lot of toggles and currently only have 4 at the top of my notification pane (with a brightness slider above them). Does anyone know of a rom that supports the old AOKP toggles in android 4.2 or a mod that can add them? Failing that, is there any mod/rom that can at least show toggles and notifications in the same pane without having to switch back and forth?
Thanks in advance.
I currently use CM10.1, and you can have Quick Settings, the power widget, both, or neither.

Ditto for any CM10.1 based rom. Which is a lot of them.
There's even a handy toggle for right swipe to quick Settings and left for normal notification bar. Made power widget obsolete for me.

Do you recommend any particular CM10 based roms? I've been using mostly AOKP based roms (pre 4.2) but none of the 4.2 AOKP roms seem to have this feature.

ROM Suggestion

Hey all, just got my GNex (VZW) rooted and wanted to get a sable custom ROM on it for these features:
centered clock in status bar
weather on lock screen
separate wallpaper for lock screen & unlocked screen
lastly, I came from iOS, is there a way to get notifications on lockscreen?
Anyone got suggestions?
yes. look through here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1455
Welcome to android and the nexus family. I suggest you check out the stickied post in the general and q&a nexus threads.
I recommend carbon, black bean, and sourcery roms. I think they all have the mods you are looking for. Not sure what you mean by lockscreen notifications but depending on your lockscreen security you can pull down the notification bar on many roms and access all notifications there

Going to try out JBSourcery, seems promising. By lockscreen notifications I mean just like iOS where the messages are displayed on the lockscreen after I simply hit the unlock button on the phone.
iOS is completely foreign to me. Waking the screen and pulling the notification bar seems easy enough to me. No need to unlock lockscreen to see them.
Sourcery has many (maybe the most) customizations and results in average to sub average battery life but its one of my favorites.
Carbon offers many customizations as well as excellent battery life for me. You will learn that you will need to try different rom and kernel combinations to see which is best for your individual device.
Good luck *taken voice*
as far as iOS like notifications on the lockscreen checkout the lockscreen replacement LockerPro highlighted on lifehacker here http://lifehacker.com/5965082/locke...s-app-notifications-right-on-your-lock-screen
Nexus Evolution is a very stable ROM that has all the features you are looking for but maybe not as many as some others. When it comes to weather on the lock screen you can now use some of the home screen widgets also on the lock screen (HD widgets for example)

There is no substitute for reading the OP of ROMs before putting on software to drastically alter your $500 device.

Implementing extra features

Hello,
First of all i would like to thank the developers of the roms mentioned in this post for their work, all three roms are awesome and i do not mean to offend anybody by this post.
I have an idea to combine three of my favorite roms, as every one of them has something that the other two are missing, my question to the community is : how to do it?
All these roms run on android 4.0.4 so i hope that it is doable
Namely I would like to have
-camera and especially camcoder functionality from andromeda, <since camcoders are usually broken in most roms i suppose this one will be too difficult to do>
-overall look, especially the low profile cancel/confirm buttons and status bar with drop down menu and settings widget from andromeda,
-automatic brightness control from aokp ics milestone v6(the one where you can adjust your own settings for each lux value),
-trackpad2wake from nikez lente ics
-long press back to kill app
I would like to implement these features into milestone or nikez lente rom since they are more stable than andromeda.
I do not need a complete solution just some pointers on where to look for files responsible for these features and how to apply them into the rom zip file so that it would all work together.

Choice of mods, frameworks, audio, visual, launchers, animations and theme.

Hello all,
As with pretty much all my devices I've always modded them from the box, only device I didn't was my corporate iPhone (although not through lack of trying : ) )
Anyway, i thought i'd make a thread showcasing my Rom set up and the mods i've chosen, no matter what device I have I always grab most of these mods if available and try to perfect the look I've had for years gone by, as I'm sure many of you do also.
Please feel free to share your home screen and the mods you have installed.
Here is my little lot, video below.
ROM
Venom Rom (Currently version 3.5.0 @ j to the 4n
Mods and Launcher
Launcher - Pixel Launcher with Dark elements and transparency, flashable zip - Link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B5GXDOETwYGySm5vRjBDcGtjZkk
Xposed Mods
Screen off animation - Several choices, also allows screen on animations
XUI MOD - Complete control of all animations - One in video is wave left.
Unique controls - This is essentially Halo from Paranoid android, superb floating heads up display and floating window.
Flat Style Bar Indicators - Allows total control of the status bar and positions as well as a tonne of icons, animations and rules.
Greenify - I think we all know this one
The theme i'm using is directly out of Venom's theme pot, @Basil3 it's very very well done and little to nothing isn't themed, has a huge choice of colours.
For xposed installation I have another thread here guiding you through.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/walkthrough-screen-off-animation-using-t3384651
Here is the video to the venom rom with all the mods i've picked https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgfD0p8RXQI&t=2s
*Note, lastly, these are not my mods, nor my Rom, they're simply the ones I choose to use for my daily driver, I can't thank them enough for delivering these so big thanks to them, they also play nice with the battery and overall, with 2 emails syncing and wifi running I only lose 1 - 2% overnight.
Any questions let me know and i'll do what I can to answer

The one that I've listed is yes. Reason being is because it's themed.
