[Q] Android 4.2 mod or rom for old AOKP toggles. - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I'm currently on android 4.1 with an AOKP-based rom. I've been looking at several android 4.2 roms and while some of them look like they've got a lot of great features, I really don't want to give up my current toggles. I don't like there being a separate pane/tab for toggles in the notification menu (along with having an extra step to switch back and forth). I don't need a lot of toggles and currently only have 4 at the top of my notification pane (with a brightness slider above them). Does anyone know of a rom that supports the old AOKP toggles in android 4.2 or a mod that can add them? Failing that, is there any mod/rom that can at least show toggles and notifications in the same pane without having to switch back and forth?
Thanks in advance.

I currently use CM10.1, and you can have Quick Settings, the power widget, both, or neither.

Ditto for any CM10.1 based rom. Which is a lot of them.
There's even a handy toggle for right swipe to quick Settings and left for normal notification bar. Made power widget obsolete for me.

Do you recommend any particular CM10 based roms? I've been using mostly AOKP based roms (pre 4.2) but none of the 4.2 AOKP roms seem to have this feature.

[Q] How Do I Get Taskbar Settings?

I used to run Synergy on my Evo, and I just switched over to Fresh. Is there any way to install the quick settings in the task bar on this ROM? That was one of my favorite parts of the old one, and I'd really love to have it again!
The thing I'm talking about is when you drag down the notifications menu, it shows two tabs on the bottom, "Notifications" and "Settings", and you just tapped settings and it brought you to a huge list of different toggles.
Thanks in advance everyone! I really appreciate all the help I can get

The other Rom you were using (Synergy) is based on Sense 2.1 and 3.x. Fresh is based on the Evo stock rom which uses Sense 1.x. There are some apps that will replicate this functionality, but you wont get the notification toggles in anything with Sense 1.x stock.
I believe you can use something like Widgetsoid (from the market) and create a notification toggle with that, but I've never done it myself. Search for notification toggles in the market though. I'm sure you can find something.

[Q] Moving power bar in notification tray?

From what I've seen of ICS, it doesn't look like the power bar is part of the notification tray, which is something most oems are doing. Do I honestly need a custom ics rom just to have this essential feature?
huh? the battery indicator is right where its always been...

At a guess, I'd say he's talking about the Power Control widget thing, which, for example, Samsung have incorporated into the notification shade in touchwiz.

There is a shortcut to the settings but no individual toggles. You'll need to do an additional screen press I'm affraid.

I dont understand why they dont include it in the notification bar.....and dont forget that in Nexus we did not have the option to delete homescreens...there are 5 screens by default.

Im sure the cyanogenmod team will fix that rather quickly.
there are apps that add those toggles in the notification bar like elixer2 and widgetsoid if not mistaken

There are, but they're not quite the same.
Nevertheless. Either Cyanogenmod or a modified Framework.apk should be able to fix this easily once you have unlocked/rooted your phone.
There are several good notification toggle apps in the market that behave just like CM7 style. I even have one running on my stock android Honeycomb tablet.
Those Samsung toggles aren't stock thus wont be included, but there will be workarounds pretty quickly.

Can notification toggles be installed in asop?

Hey. I just love to have the toggles on a line in the notification drawer. Is it possible to install that in any asop roms?

AOSP roms are built from source...
I.E. Practically every Nexus rom is AOSP.
The only ones that weren't were from the JellyBean nandroid rips that were going 'round after the Google IO.
Assuming you mean "stock" then no, there aren't any such roms with only toggles built in that I've seen.
You should try CM10 if you're into the "stock" feel...
They build their roms slowly with stability and a rock solid base...and minimal customization.
You'll be happy with 'em.

I've never found those apps to satisfy me. I really like the ones in CM10, but i would love them to be in eg. AndroidME AOSP

Well Widgetsoid allow toggling more things than both AOKP and CM so I'm happy enough with it. I set the widget to be hidden and appear on the notification bar.
You could easily just copy the toggle code from one of the ROMs into stock source and compile your own ROM. Or just flash one of the ROMs and be done with it.
Personally, I actually prefer the app "Notification Toggle" (Play Store link) over CM10's. It has good functionality as just an app, but if you're rooted and can install it as a system app, it has great functionality. For instance, if using it as a system app, you can have direct GPS toggle rather than having the GPS icon open location settings.
There are a great number of items that can be put on the toggle bar, it's fully customizable, it can use multiple notification rows, and all icons can be re-ordered. The only "drawback" that I found was that the flashlight option required a specific flashlight app, TeslaLED, but that wasn't too big of a deal for me.

Main differences between Cm10 and Task and Ktoonsez

Hi all.
I am using Cm10 and have been for awhile but was wondering what the main differences are between CM and Task?
Can anyone clarify this for me?
Thanks a lot

I find AOKP gives you more choices to customize your device.
Would you mind elaborating on that and giving me some examples
If not I totally understand.
Have a great evening

You have more options to mod the UI:
ROM Control- you can get nav bar like in nexus
change battery icon style, color
disable or custom boot animation
change toggle style and layout
add brightness bar to statusbar
enable face down audio mode when u put phone face down it would go to silent or vibrate
and more
lots of goodies that in cm10 you have to custom install
I find cm10 to be smoother than aokp

Interesting, seems like there are quite a few extras and worth the trial. The only think i see missing from CM10 is the additional 2 shortcuts from the lock screen (not a huge deal for me anyways)..
I'm curious though, how would one use ROM control with nav bar like in nexus (since S3 already has meny and back capacative)? Just wondering how it may be used..
Thanks again

Some people are used to the nav bar, maybe if they're coming from a Galaxy Nexus or something. I don't find it useful at all, because as you said, the S3 already has a menu, back, and home button. Also, you'll lose a bit of screen space by using them. Hope this helps!

Sense Question

Im running the latest OTA on my dinc, I was wondering if there is an easy way to put the sense 2.1 status bar in sense 1.0 for the convenient quick settings tab, or is that doing some major customization work?
Thanks.

There is quite a bit of work involved in getting the quick settings working on 4.08.605.15. I managed to get qs tab and advanced power menu to work on my rom Touch of blue which is based on 4.08.605.15. However the qs tabs descriptions are wrong, they say low memory or low on space instead of on or off. Everything else is perfect and functional. I had to take a mod from the original gb ota, and modify it to get it to work. I just cant figure out the qs descriptions. There are several system files that need to be edited to get it to work. You could always try my rom. Its mostly stock just with a slight blue theme and the advanced features everyone wants. You can find the link to it in my sig.

Well, I don't know of any easy way to do that, but you should check out some apps. For example, I am running a Jellybean rom and I do not how the quick settings in the status bar. so, what i did is i downloaded an app called "notification toggle" from the play store. It is free, works well, and it does what it needs to. It also has a brightness and volume slider. check it out.
