I've built this theme from pieces found in other mods. I'm not a designer nor a developer but I like to personalise what I'm using.
Also, I truly like the stock gingerbread look so, I've tried over the last few weeks various combinations of colours and images in the framework and applications. Because I really like how everything came out and maybe I'm not the only one liking stock stuff, I thought to share it.
The main credits are going to Ock and Darkyy because I've used mainly elements from their work.
This theme will NOT be maintained over time and I welcome anyone who think that certain things can be improved, to modify it accordingly. Of course, the obvious bugs will be corrected as it will be found or indicated.
The theme is tested on a deodexed JVB rom so I wouldn't recommend trying it on any other rom.
This theme has:
- AOSP lock screen only
- CRT screen off animation
- Green glowing overscroll
- lockscreen, phone and clock are sharing the same style for the interactive buttons (for unlocking, answering phone and turning off alarms)
- clean battery stats (no percentage)
- gingerbread launcher included
The theme is CWM3 flashable .. but please mount in advance the /system partition (from the mounts and storage cwm menu).
I personally use ADW launcher with gingerbread look and I've used the icons from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870691
Enjoy (or not ) ...
http://www.multiupload.com/S0F8AY5VKJ
If someone wants I can provide the framework with the percentage over the battery (but will no longer look stock-like).
Nice theme, I love it!
Hi ro_explorer,
can you tell me where can I find (and how to install) only the AOSP lock screen...
I kinda like the stock TouchWiz (or I just got used to it) but the clock at the bottom of the locked screen is driving me nutz
thanks in advance!
ROM developers already spend enough time to provide a quality product, but not all of us are always 100% happy with the way the ROM looks. Theme developers will make different themes for a particular ROM, but even still not everyone wants every change introduced in the theme. It can be cumbersome for developers and themers alike to thoroughly please each of its followers. That's where I'd like to change the game with the GSIII - rather than having to rely on a themer to make something that looks close to what you'd like, you'll be put in the driver seat and choose your own modifications.
What options are you presented with?
- Battery style
- Clock position and color (stock grey or ics blue)
- Brightness slider (won't work on stock ROMs)
- Placement of the date/clear button bar
- Transparency % of the notification area
- Lidroid toggle style (keep your current or use my slimmed ICS blue ones)
- Number of lidroid toggles shown w/o scrolling
- Text labels or not below those toggles
However, these changes can't be made possible without a little side effect. In this first version, the style of the clock, date, clear button, and toggles use the ICS blue color. In future versions of the theme system, additional styles will be provided!

Does this work with all ROM versions, such as stock ICS, AOKP, Leaked touchwiz 4.1, etc.?
I was just introduced to Aroma and love the customization features on stock ICS! Mainly for the center clock, AM/PM small option, Crysis battery mod and hopefully the abbreviated small weekday option in the future.
This is for ICS TW ROMs - NOT CM, AOKP, or JB ones.

Just installed and tested this out on Kyan's Rom. No luck, it booted up with some errors and the notification bar wasn't there (made the screen look huge....kinda cool looking actually). Anyway, had to restore my Nandroid backup.
Sounds like a great idea, hopefully you can work the bugs out.
Thanks.

It appears that there are still a lot of you that are going flash crazy and coming from other ROMs that are based on LK8. I will explain a few things about doing this. When you flash a ROM that is based on LK8, and then try to flash any ROM based on LJC, like MacksROM you are going to have the following errors;
Hands Free Activation on every boot, and possibly an error 1500 error, and you will lose your data connection......
Chameleon error upon every re boot.....this is a launcher error msg, as per Sprint...
Gyrene2083 ran several tests with Garwynn and Garwynn came out with this fix. We will never, I repeat never update to a leaked version of LK8. With that said for those who are coming from a ROM that is based on the LK8 leaked version use the fix above. Do not ask for help in this thread, regarding this issue, because the answer is in the link provided, and ask lk8 questions there.....Garwynn worked hard on that fix, and gyrene2083 ran multiple tests of this fix, and it's worked fine.....
Once you have done the above and all is working fine, then you can follow the directions below and enjoy MacksROM....
Directions to Install
1. Make sure you have the latest downloads of TWRP. (You can get this through GooManager from the playstore. Hit menu - Install OpenRecoveryScript )
2. Ensure you make a backup.
3. Reboot into TWRP
4. Nandroid Backup, Wipe Cache 3x's, Wipe Davlick Cache 3x's, Wipe System 3x's, [Unless your coming from a previous version of MacksRom] (Do a factory reset if your coming from another ROM)
5. Install ROM
6. Reboot Let it stabilize for about 10 minutes.
7. Enjoy.

Status bar transparency is the latest Android craze. Many people want it but aren't sure where to get it. This guide is here to help you find ROM's that have the transparent status bar mod enabled out of the box.
(If I've missed any ROM's that include transparency please don't hessitate to let me know in this thread and I'll add it to the first post. I am trying to build a complete list. If I leave a ROM off it's just an oversite or I didn't realize the missing ROM had the feature)
Touch Wiz ROM's
All TouchWiz ROM's should have status bar transparency as the stock ROM includes is all all variants of TW ROMs are based on the stock ROMs. (I never use TW ROMs so I can't verify this. If it's wrong please let me know)
Should you find a TW ROM that doesn't include transparency options, akapaul26 has a mod for so you can try to add it yourself. Click here.
AOSP ROM's
All Android 4.2 based ROMs should theoretically be able to add status bar transparency by using the XPosed Framework and TweakBox mods found here. Make a nandroid backup first then give it a try. I've tried it on multiple devices with mixed results. When I did get it to work the status bar is ALWAYS transparent, not just on the home screen. So this might not be the ideal option for some, and it might be the greatest thing in the world for others. It all depends on your use.
This does not work on Android 4.3 ROMs just yet though as the XPosed framework isn't compatible yet.
The following AOSP based ROMs have status bar transparency preinstalled and ready to go. (I haven't tried every one of these. So If I say one has it and it doesn't let me know. )
- Paranoid Android
- Carbon ROM
- PACman ROM
- Liquid Smooth
- Slim Bean
- BeanStalk
- AOKP
- JellyBro??? (I'm not sure about this one. The developer was talking about it very briefly last month but I don't know if the transparency was every actually added. Can someone let me know?)
- CyanogenMod ROM's do NOT have transparency built in. However there are a bunch of CM kangs floating around. Some of them may have added transparency options but I'm not aware of any.
I have Xposed working on CM10.2. I haven't tried the Tweakbox module, though. I'll give it a shot and report back.
SystemUI kept force closing after applying transparency in Tweakbox on CM10.2.
Xposed modules are kind of hit or miss since 4.3 isn't fully supported yet. The Greenify (donate) module works flawlessly.
For any ROM, it's a very simple XML edit inside systemui.apk. heck you can even make it any color you want!

Yeah I know. But this guide was more aimed at people looking for transparent functionality out of the box.
Remember, even on xda with all the modders we have here, editing an apk is above the heads of most people. The vast majority of people here, even root users, are just flashing what is pre compiled. And there is nothing wrong with that! That's how we all started!
Sent from your phone. You should be careful where you leave that thing.
Just remember to enable it depending on the launcher. Nova, for example, needs to have it enabled in the settings before it takes affect regardless of the other settings. That said, 3minit roms make changing the transparency very, very simple.

This is all true information, but it applies to TouchWiz roms exclusively.
3minit is only on TW to my knowledge (please correct me if Im wrong)
And for AOSP roms that have transparency options built it it will force launchers like Apex and Nova to have transparency and you not only do not have to activate it in the launcher settings but you cannot activate it in the launcher settings. Those launchers only give the transparency options if they are installed on a TouchWiz rom. On aosp roms that option is deleted from the launcher settings.
The launchers search for the transparency options built into TouchWiz, which does it differently than aosp roms. So when the launcher doesn't find the TouchWiz transparency files it removes the transparency option from the settings menu.

If you're interested to yet another grey/dark theme I made one with Sony Theme Creator. It's fully tested for Lollipop on my Xperia M2, but thanks to Sony Theme Creator it well supports KitKat, although some assets may differ. So please report any wrong in this thread.
Now certified by Sony! Check it in the Xperia Theme portal!
COMPATIBLE WITH MARSHMALLOW, NOUGAT AND OREO(*)
(*) Unfortunately Sony on Oreo drastically removed many customisations. The themes mostly change the Xperia Home, Lock Screen and Navigation bar.
MORE THAN 100,000 DOWNLOADS!!
Please do not forget to rate it 5 Stars in the store! At least for the effort.
Lockscreen analog clock is only available on Z2 series and above running at least Android 5.1
Icon Packs are available only on Android 6.0 and above
Also, as for user request I made a version with full black Status, Navigation and Action bars (Light Action bar excluded otherwise the text would become unreadable. I can't find where its text color is defined). You can download it from the attachments. Take it as it is because unless of major bugs it won't be updated (sorry).
Please note that "MonoChrome" and the attached "MonoChrome Black" are two different themes. So you can install both, the first from the Play Store and the latter manually from here.

MY FREE XPERIA THEMES IN XDA
(click on image for the XDA thread)
this worked very well on my Z1c running the latest 5.1.1 LP build 368
in fact, it was one of the few themes (apart from the official Sony ones in the playstore) that worked. not sure why but the other themes on the playstore and xda didn't have any effect after selecting/activating them in the theme selector
a small request (if you have the time for it): could you make another version with the default nav bar, status bar, and action bar 100% black (i.e. FF000000)?

I think it's because they were made for KitKat. Most new assets don't apply on Lollipop. That's why I made my own theme using Sony Theme Creator, far too many were broken (one of mine as well, and to port it hasn't exactly been a walk. Still working on it).

Well, it could be done. But why? I think it's dark enough, it's Grey 900. Honestly I don't feel like making a separate version for it, dealing with only grays is a total pain. Make a small change and something, somewhere gets unreadable.. I was thinking more about keeping it as a base and make other themes using the accent colors (which makes life easier).

i tried a lot of the new ones too, that were LP-specific (like the ones below). they weren't just broken, applying them simply reverted my theme back to stock. so very happy to have found yours!

sure, I understand. no compulsion at all. I just wanted a 100% black one because I have a lot of Tasker scenes that are full screen and having a black nav bar would help them blend in. My Z1c's bezel is also black, so by changing the nav key colors to black (using an intent to GravityBox) on a black nav bar background would give the appearance of immersive mode without the drawbacks of immersive mode
Well, the first theme on the link I think requires root. It changes the framework-res and some apps. I stay far away from rooted themes, the stock theming on Xperia is good enough. The second I'm surprised that doesn't work. I've seen that dev in Google Play and his themes have quite good reviews. Oh well, it's a plus for my theme, then!
Regarding the all black bars I'll think about it. During development I was afraid they were already too dark! Maybe I'll make a second one and call it "MonoChrome Black". Writing in the description "as from users request". I need a second free theme anyway. I'll see, but I don't promise anything. If it breaks the readability again I'll throw it away.

If it breaks the readability again I'll throw it away.

thanks for considering it! I have root and SU mode but the first linked theme still didn't work for me. the only two authors that worked are Sony (official) and The Green (quite a few themes and some paid ones too but unfortunately nothing minimal). i use my phone a lot in the dark so nothing is too black for me! =)

Well, thanks. But that implies modifying the system apks, which requires root and may not work on different devices. As I wrote above i stay away from it. It just means looking for trouble. the beauty of Sony Theme Creator is that you develop for one device and then it is compatible for all, as long as they are 4.4.4 or above.

If it needs root you also need to replace the apks in /system, I think. Then as I wrote above it may work in one phone but not in another.
About the full black I was thinking about making one and add in only in here. That shouldn't take long. But if you have suggestions to make it different enough to be distinguished from MonoChrome, so much that I can publish it in Google Play, they are welcome. i mean, once I start something I can as well finish it.

I notice that you embedded a patterned background in the Settings App ... how about putting in a darker gray background, so that you can still view black text, but it won't be as jarring as FFFFFF white against the 000000 black? this would fit into the overall theme of "full black" (but without having to change text to white/light colors). i'm not sure if the same background change could be effected for the other system apps like clock, conversations, calendar ... since i don't use them, but that could be a start

I decided to take the unpublished route. And yeah, I had in mind to lower the brightness of the Dark Mode background indeed. Although it seems to dark to me, but I have low brightness on my phone. Also the dialogs are full black. It's light grey on black, it won't hurt the eyes. So I updated the main post also adding the new MonoChromeBlack.apk. I hope you'll enjoy it. As i wrote in the main post it won't be maintained, though. So if you have any complaint to make do it fast.

that was fast, thank you! unfortunately i wasn't able to install the linked apk (above). it gave me an error message of "app not installed". could this be due to a signing error? i uninstalled the play store apk just in case, rebooted, but still the full black apk didn't install
