I got the Note 2 for use with note taking so I use mine every day.
Other than that, I take it out to mess around with and tag pictures. I also do a lot of support for Android devices so the screenshot feature + tagging with the S-Pen makes my life so much easier.
There aren't enough worthwhile apps to really take full use of the S-Pen that don't have to do with notes or drawing.
There are some "games" that support stylus use. Maybe you can use that.
Either way, you still have a great device. Biggest screen and faster processor than most phones out there.
Yea def I love this bad boy ive done a lil doodling on my gf face myself lol i love the crop feature as well and nores for school or work how well is it vs using a larger tablet?

For drawing. I do a lot of it. I use sketchbook mobile for hours a day at work when everything is running smoothly and I have nothing better to do. If you don't draw... notes only I guess. I use it to Mark up photos on the job Site too, which everyone at the office is amazed with because it clarifies everything really well when explaining problems.

I do network diagrams as part of my job, and it comes in handy when I have to draw something out for the techs and don't have the actual diagrams available. Need a Visio editor for Android, though, that would be real nice. I have also found it useful to take a screenshot of a map and annotate positions of equipment, satellite aiming, and other things during site surveys.
Couple times a day, I mainly use it as a mouse for web browsing and remote desktop.

I make my shopping lists with SNote and use the pen to scratch off items as I put them in the cart. I also use the Square card reader to accept charge cards, and the pen works better than a finger for signing.

I mostly only use it when I'm texting. The S pen with a "gesture" keyboard like swype is way faster than typing any other way once you get good at it.
I use as a mouse when Web surfing.. Especially those drop down for a drop down menu
Jotting down little notes when out and about (the biggest use I get out of it) it's been many of times I needed to write down something and didn't have a pen, paper, nothing in sight
-TeaM VeNuM Like A Boss
-Galaxy Note II Edition
Fairly often. I like that I can sign PDFs using the S Pen.
I used to use it much more than I do now that we have a Samsung Keyboard Autocorrect hack that works in S-Notes. I can honestly thumb-type faster than I can hand-write and all the text is searchable. It is good for scrawling down the occasional phone number on the fly but the autocorrect is amazingly accurate. However if I were a student or in a meeting I would hand-write much more so as not to annoy everyone around me with frantic typing.
You can get the autocorrect baked in with a rom like Whompasaurus Rom V2.7 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2039564).
I do use the pen quite often as a pointer though. Nice for clicking tiny links or web surfing without smudging the screen.
I am looking forward to the Note 8.0. It should be just the right size for hand-writing and thumb-typing.
** Even though I no longer use it much, I like that fact that it is THERE if I need it. It's like having a car that can go zero to 60 in 4 seconds. 99% of the time you don't need the power but when you didn't see that semi in your blindspot and you need to get out of the way you are glad it's there.

I guess the key thing about the pen is it just adds and extra layer of functionality to your smart phone. It makes your smart phone smarter.

I been searching for.some time now for any educational apps for my 18 months son with little luck.
Most apps are geared towards older children, not to mention not too many have child lock on them to prevent children from hitting capacitive buttons.Seem like all good children's apps or on ipad/iPhone and I won't to avoid this option if I can help it.
Anyone know of any good apps?
Here are few apps that I have so far that are usefull and not too complicated for children that are 1-3 years old.
1 Toddle Animal Numbers (Probably the best one,its educational and its free)
2 Undersea Adventure for Toddler (Not really educational but a fun and simple game, and its free)
3 Kids Doodle Paint (Best thing about this is that it has child's lock built in,so you can go to sleep while they draw and not have to worry about them turning it off, this one is free too)
And that's about it,yeah I know that's a damn shame.Rest that I tried is to complex.

Also, there are lots of interactive books by people like "Oceanhouse media" (the book reads and the child interacts with the page.)

They can take your iPad, S3 or whatever you have before you blink. So its better find them with the phone in theirs hands than see your gadgets on the toilet or trash can because they got bored.

The reason I was soo critical about it is because I need it to take note in class and always have it with me when I need to study.
i dont think a phone/tablet/any electronic device could ever replace pen/paper when it comes down to class and taking notes...not even a laptop. our brains learn best when we write things out, not just type them up and to take tons of class notes on a 5.55" screen is just silly...anyway, my s-pen was initially too sensitive and would register screen taps at times when I would only be hovering. following a fix in some thread, I probably love my phone more than all my other devices combined :good:

While I do agree that paper and pen are the best, I actually saw a girl in my organic chemistry class who took all her notes on her iPad. She drew structures and wrote formulas with a cheap, standard capacitive stylus, typed out whatever she could type out, and took pictures of slides and a pasted them into her notes. I'm not sure what program she used, but it was quite impressive to say the least. Of course, I think it requires learning the programs inside and out and making sure you can use them efficiently.
I have a Nexus 7 and a Galaxy Note II and wouldn't use either one to replace a notebook and a good mechanical pencil. I'm also not motivated enough to try though either lol.
If you're gonna take notes, just do a Bluetooth keyboard... makes more sense.

There is a great app called handrite in the market and it lets you type and draw in the same file as well as import pictures. I use it in meetings on my Xoom.
First....I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this phone! Today was the first day in the 3 weeks that I've owned this phone that I've been able to get a low battery indicator. With my normal usage, I'm normally home and ready to charge with more than 30-40% left.
Now to my extra use for the s-pen. It works GREAT on those pesky levels of "Where's My Water". Those of you without kids may not find it useful but mine always want to see the next levels. Kinda feels like cheating knowing that the lines I'm able to draw are much tighter than with my fat fingers but that's the advantage of having the s-pen right?
P.S. also works well for kids playing Fruit Ninja too.....LOL
You should try it with apps like TouchRetouch and Afterfocus or photo retouching apps. It's awesome. The battery life make me smile every day.

Samsung from the old days could be declared a different company. They have changed a lot in the past few years for the better. Android isn't the only area. Remember how awful the moment was? The gps issues of the galaxy s series one and two. The ssds, the ram, the tvs, Samsung is moving up and is probably a large part as to why Android is doing so well.

I hope their new partners serves them well. They are burning a bridge with Samsung. Look for even more bugs with the next Apple devices and even more customers buying them despite the increase of bugs.
Getting even more off topic. I actually support Apple to the extent of understanding that in order to have great things we need competition. I really hope windows 8 steps up their game and the new nokia company gains success. Would love to see htc and Motorola get their acts together and turn a profit. Let us all stop fighting and get on with the innovation. Looking forward to seeing the note 3 being a even greater device that will largely depend on how the competition is doing.
A huge add blocks the source so I can't see it. Looks like I'm going to have to install a add blocker even though I like supporting websites.

The only thing that is actually good is the chat heads and the way it can be your text app. multi tasking with texting. Like texting with your girl while you use another app to find a place for dinner without having to back out of either.
Fortunately you dont have to have FB home for this functionality and only need to install FB messenger and update the fb app...

I'm definitely not asking you that to attack you over your opinion or anything (because you're definitely entitled to your own opinion), I was just wondering because I effin love Next Launcher. I don't just like it because it looks really cool though (it's just an awesome bonus lol) because I could care less about showing off my phone, I actually like it because of all the added functionality it provides on top of giving you the ability to fine tune everything the way you like, and call me crazy but I honestly think it's even worth it for the original price.
