Hello,
I've been having some severe signal loss issues for a long time now. I will lose my cell signal for sending/receiving texts and calls (even though it continues to display bars). It will not come back until I notice and restart my phone. It used to be that I could turn on/off airplane mode, but this doesn't even seem to do the trick anymore. It is becoming more and more severe. I use wifi a lot, and a theory I have is that when leaving and returning to a wifi area, something happens that causes my signal loss.
I am using:
-CM10 from 11-26-2012
-PhantomPhreak 3.0.15
-FH13
Please let me know if you have any ideas!
Thank you

To answer your question yes, because these types of ROMs won't work with a JB modem/kernel. Long story short...you won't have any data/phone signal with a JB modem/kernel

If you flash an ICS kernel on cm 10 you will not have a usable phone period. It would not boot. Please be careful when giving advice.

ok this is BY FAR the best ICS experience. I've had every rom and they've all done a decent job but this is amazing. no lag at all, holding home button to pull up recent apps is smooth, swiping to close is snappy, and the browser feels up to date! Im in love again. This + Air Kernel= ICS heaven

I don't know what the technical differences are, but I can tell you that my experience with FG20 was very choppy audio streaming. Today I flashed FG31 and it would take like 5 minutes for me to even get 3G service after a reboot.
I'm back on FF18. I'm personally going to stick with the Sprint modems until I hear differently.

From what I've seen in the few threads I was browsing, they (FG20 and FG31) are for Boost users, but are almost fully compatible with Sprint. I can't comment about this MMS issue, but I'm pretty sure that roaming doesn't work on FG31 (not sure about FG20). I think that some users actually prefer improved performance with FG31, so if roaming isn't a big deal for you, I guess it's fine. I don't know about any fixes though.
As a long time virgin i can definitely say that sprint slows down the speed of boost and virgin as an attempt to make signing the two year contract that much more appealing. It might play a factor in data connections, signal strength, etc.
im on boost fg20 i get good download speed
i know that after i went from el29 to ff18 the mms pics send a lot quicker but the quality of the image is decresed more so..Very fast mms sends though..Its a catch 22..Other than that, im not sure..

hi all,
I didnt find any threads that answered my question well, so if its a repeat my apologies. I am running Blu Kuban 1.0.5.4, it runs nice and smooth, i love everything about it, but i dont know JACK about modems in this sense. In about phone it says my modem is FF18, which seems right from everything i HAVE read lol, but then the BK build # say FL24.
i have read that GB and ICS modems are interchangeable, but i have no knowledge of where to start or IF i should bother messing with it. i know i have to travel to downtown orlando to catch a 4g signal, and 3g kinda sux and i get almost nothing inside my apt, and wifi is alot lower than i expected given i run a full dual-band DDWRT gigabit cat6 network.
so the crux of the question is the modem in the build number what it seems like? are the 2 conflicting or am i just misunderstanding al together lol and more, is there a better setup i can use, i know that tends to be phone specific but it seems like in general some prove to work well together and some dont.
thanks in advance for any/all help

FF18 is fine to run in BK FL24. Both are ICS. However, modems vary from phone to phone, location to location. I would try updating your modem to FL24, and after you reboot, update prl and profile, and see if that improves signal. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. But the short answer is no, the build is not conflicting with your modem, it's most likely the area you are in. Play around with other modems, see if it helps! Good luck

for the first one the FL24 i used the internal updater built into BK, but after that i switched to mobile odin bc i was afraid it was an updater issue...though my battery was a tad low but it was on the charger, and a straight wall charger too not a usb to my pc charger. ah well im not sweating it, like i said im mostly home anyway so having a kick ass rom thats rock solid is more important anyway lol
Not sure if you know but mobile Odin does not support the flashing of modems for the epic touch. It may look like it flashes but nothing happens. Either desktop Odin or recovery is the only way to flash a modem.

Thank you for keeping us posted on your progress. Sprint/Boost/Virgin Mobile should just link to this forum in their communities for all tech support issues. It's faster, better info, and way friendlier. And wow it beats the heck out of going into their stores. I remember when Garwynn would post in the Sprint forum for the E4GT, and his input was far better than the Sprint monitors.

I would like to test this Box, and I have no phone on hand. if someone would like to fix his/her phone for free, then pm me. or if you would like me to list this service on ebay, I will do it with a minimum price that ebay will allow me to list it. and here is another thing, if you live in Houston, TX. then you got it.

Flashing a ROM of such similar hardware won't brick...hell it may even boot. If you wanna intentionally brick your phone, overwrite the radio, Odin partitions etc.

Guys, you can flash Skyrocket roms... Best to follow with an appropriate Hercules kernel.
I only flashed Embryo, but people used to do it plenty.
Of course everything comes with risk in this game... And I in know way am stamping it with a guarantee.... But if a few other t989 vets would chime in, I think they'd agree.
Now one thing.... The only experience I have with this is TouchWiz based roms. I never flashed a skyrocket Aosp rom. So take that for what it's worth.
It was no different. Do a nandroid backup first. Wipe system, data, cache and dalvik... Flash rom, flash kernel. Gapps if aosp, reboot. Needed t989 kernel simply because without it, rotation was messed up. Not an issue if you don't use landscape. Of course, you keep your t989 radio as well.
So, to be fair, I'd get confirmation from someone about flashing Skyrocket aosp roms.... Cause I only know TouchWiz roms are no problem.

I will also add... Why? Aosp roms are Lol very similar, plus or minus a few options. I don't see the need to flash other roms. But that's just me.
With TouchWiz it was different... Mostly on a theming standpoint.
I have the Sprint S3 running MIUI 3.9.27 and everything seems to be running well but for some odd reason it will not connect to my WiFi network. Is this an issue with the rom? Or my kernel version? My current kernel version is 3.4.53-cyanogenmod-g93e5fff

Static ip is when you set the Mac ID of your phone to receive same ip address on your router every time it connects, but your WiFi worked properly on previous rom, this ain't the problem.
