After many many many attempts at installing an MA7 rom, I'm asking for some help! I had a stock deodexed LJC rom by Team Venum, and attempted to install the new MA7 synergy rom as a daily driver, step by step can anyone tell me where I went wrong?! Also I'm using clockwork mod.
1)Booted into recovery.
2)Wiped data/factory reset
3)Wiped Cache
4)Wiped Dalvik Cache
5)Flashed Synergy rom r46 w/modem
I get as far as the PRL update, hit ok, and then after the device reboot, it keeps trying to walk me through the phone activation. Any help is appreciated!

I was running the same but what I did was install the firmware for the MA7 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2148604
I used TWRP to flash the Zip as I have had problems with CWM. I wiped Cache and Dalvik Cache before the install and that was it. I am still running the Team Venum Rom but it is now with MA7.
I have not flashed the new kernel as I am not having any problems on the old one.
Once the MA7 firmware is installed you should be able to flash whatever ROM you want.

I flash the cwm kernel, boot into recovery, wipe, flash rom, flash gapps but no gapps show up when I reboot. I have tried pushing the gapps straight to system/app with no luck.
Every time I attempt to get back into recovery I have to reflash it with Odin and still nothing. I know I need a gingerbread recovery but I'm not sure which to use.
I have looked in tons of threads and most say DO NOT FLASH ROMS WITH THIS RECOVERY!
I know this is noob **** but I use a fassy and am not very familiar with et4g shiz.
P.s. attempted to get her phone running an aosp rom with gapps for over an hour. If someone could give me a quick simple reply with the recovery I need to flash an aosp from and gapps from fe10 let me know.

In case you are still running AOKP or AOSP you can flash this FE10 kernel. It is only compatible with AOSP or AOKP, flash it with anything else and it will give you boot loops.

How do I flash a new version of a ROM without re installing all my apps or contacts? For example if I have v1 of a person's ROM and they upgrade to v2, How would I flash the new version of the ROM without having to redo all my apps, contacts, email etc...?

Where he is right, you should still do a full wipe even when flashing the same rom if its a firmware upgrade, or major backend framework has been modified.
If you do a android backup prior to flashing, you can do an advanced restore of data only, from your nandroid backup, and all of your apps & data will restore just as it was before - while maintaining the integrity of the updated version of the ROM you use.
Super easy, super fast, super efficient.

clarify best clean install, ie what needs to be wiped
I posted in a different thread, "moment to epic now S3" asking basically what constitutes a full wipe when flashing a rom, or flashing mods. On my epic CWM it was pretty clearly stated in almost all OP wipe all 3, times 3. If not it was said wipe davlik and cache times 3. I'm using the twrp recovery and there are so many wipe options, and I don't know which ones are necessary for a clean install when flashing a new ROM. My phone was giving my so much trouble yesterday i wiped all but the external and flashed a stock rom, then odined a stock rooted to be back at square one. But I don't want to flash a new rom until I here from others the cleanest way to install. I noticed for flashing a kernel it said I had to fix permissions also? So I guess it seems less cut a dried, 3 options (with epic recovery) and before I start screwing around with my phone I wanted some clarification, for flashing roms, flashing modems, flashing mods...what needs to be wiped, or what constitutes a full wipe. I can't assume that a clean wipe means everything and if it doesn't well obviously that would be nice to not have to wipe internal card etc if i don't have to
thank you much
Hey guys,
I was installing the synergy rom r484 onto my galaxy s3 att variant and in the aroma installer it says that my device is d2spr but my device is actually d2att and I think that is why when I install the synergy rom it doesn't let me use my data and 4g. Can anyone help with this?
update your recovery with a d2att one. are you cwm or twrp?
I'm using cwm. Can you please guide me how to update the recovery to the d2att one? haha sorry I'm kind of a noob
let's see if this gets you straightened out. flash this in recovery, go to advanced and select reboot recovery. once back in, give synergy a shot again. do you know what version you're on now and where you got your current cwm from? just curious

When I tried to flash that file it started and then said "Installation aborted"
I've attached a picture
Oh and I'm not sure what version I'm running
can you boot into your device? if so, use Rom Manager to update your recovery.
if not, here is the previous version of CWM if you want to see if this takes care of you.
also, twrp is recommended for aroma installers. i'll attach a recovery flashable twrp zip. let me know if either flashes. if not, you may have to restore a backup (if you cant boot in now) and update your recovery that way.

I flashed the twrp.zip and then I tried installing synergy again and it finished and started rebooting and now it's in a continuous loop of rebooting
get it fixed?
if not, wipe cache and dalvik in recovery and reboot. if you're still looping, boot into recovery and wipe data/factory reset and reboot. report back, buddy

I've tried rebooting into recovery multiple times but it goes to the Team Win recovery screen and then goes back into the boot loop :crying:
odin back to stock, buddy. thats what i would do.
here's a link to the stock firmware with root already injected: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1739426
flash the tar in odin. make sure the auto reboot box is unticked. if you get a PASS after flashing, unplug the device, pull the battery, replace it and press the recovery button combo. once in recovery, wipe data and wipe cache. reboot.
you will be on rooted stock. you can install cwm or twrp from rom manager or goo manager from there.
otherwise, your other option is to flash recovery from odin via this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2042775
download the root kit and flash the recovery.tar from odin. boot into recovery and flash that cwm 6.0.3.1 update i linked you to earlier. reboot recovery (under advanced) and proceed with flashing synergy or flash this recovery-flashable stock rom to get you started. you can decide where you want to go from there.

If I odin back to stock will it delete all my music and pictures and etc.?
Okay I'll try the second thing and I'll report back in a bit. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me.
Okay so I got that recovery that you gave me earlier installed (the cwm 6.0.1.3) after using odin and the att gs3 root and then flashing after that. Then when I went back into recovery and tried to install the synergy rom it started and then the aroma installer froze and my phone went back into the loop. I can get into recovery now though but I don't know how I should install synergy
Honestly? This is a picky rom. I would abandon it for a more stable install and operational rom, whether that be a touchwiz base or aosp. It doesn't seem to be working with you at all.
Okay I installed the cyanogen mod stable build and now I'm just waiting for it to finish booting up. Thank you so much for all your help!!!
That's what we're all here for. Lemme know if that did/didn't boot up for ya :good:
Okay it's still at the same booting screen where it says CyanogenMod and the blue circle is spinning around it.
Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik. Reflash rom and gapps. Wipe data and cache again. Reboot and give it a few minutes.
That's my suggestion.

My Galaxy at&t phone had the same problem after flashing with Synergy (my first flash on my new Galaxy S3 phone). It lost its identity and though it was a Sprint phone. Next I tried installing a different custom ROM, but I couldn't install CM10.1 (and still can't now) because it thinks it was not a d2att.
There were only two ROMs I was able to do installed since then. They were the Serenity 1.2 and its predecessor. I had to restored phone back to stock, root, and flash ROM. For a while, it was pretty grim as my phone had gotten very unresponsive and lethargic with all the fixes I tried during the time my phone thought it was a d2sp (no data).
After going back to stock using Odin, the phone finally could accessed the data network again and showing SGH-I747 instead of the Sprint version. I tried flashing CM10.1, but it still didn't think it is a d2att since it aborted when it did the check for d2att.
Nest, I flashed the DrewGaren's JellyBean747 version 1. Then I flashed DrewGaren's Serenity 1.2. Both were mostly working OK, but there are still some bugs.
Unfortunately, the DrewGaren's series seem to be dead projects since he didn't seem to be doing anymore improvement since Jan 2013.
Samsung S3 had me routed. My previous phone was HTC Inspired, and I rooted it instead of it routing me
Hi,
For about a few days, I can't flash any touchwiz based rom, even the ones I could flash without any problem before. After I flash any touchwiz rom, my phone goes into a bootloop cycle. Though I can boot into recovery and download mode with key combinations. I don't know when this happened for the first time but as far as I can remember, it would be after I flashed some 4.4 AOSP rom (could be Omnirom, I'm not sure though)
What I did to recover from boot loop:
- Wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and reboot, no joy.
- Wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe data, reboot, no joy.
- Wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe data, wipe data/media, reboot, no joy.
- Pulled out the battery between these steps too.
At first, I thought something was wrong about the aroma installer itself because the phone was getting frozen during aroma installer setup screen, then I came up that it was caused due to my older CWM version, so I updated the recovery and it didn't freze again during installation.
And by the way, I've lost my efs partition during these processes, thankfully I've had a nandroid backup from a couple of months before.
Now I'm stuck with AOSP roms and the only way I can use a touchwiz rom is to flash the stock rom via odin. But I want to use the new leaked version based Note3 featured roms.
I've seen similar topics at S4 section but I couldn't be sure if I can do the exact steps for an N7100 international device.
I'm pretty familiar with linux system and I can use adb so I can provide any kind of information you need to diagnose this issue. Thanks in advance. Best regards.
HOW I SOLVED THIS PROBLEM
- Wiped everything (system, data, sdcard, of course internal sdcard)
- Flashed n7100 16GB pit file via odin
- Flashed stock rom via odin
- During these steps, I realized that my CSC code had been changed, I've corrected it acording to my country code
- Rooted my phone again
- Flashed CWM 6.0.4.3 recovery
- Flashed DN3 V3.1 rom
- Bingo, I successifully booted into DN3 rom but had no WIFI
- Flashed MJ5 bootloader
- Rebooted, then WIFI worked without a problem
- Setup my phone and did some restore
It's all good now. Thanks for everything, I hope these steps can help someone facing the same problem.

Download HD wipe script, flash the script zip via cwm/philz then try installing the rom of your choice.
I found the script from tamirda's phoenix rom thread and is very useful:http://d-h.st/fWr
Full wipe cache and reset in recovery menu, clear everything, you should be up and running.

Thanks for the reply. I flashed this superwipe script, then flashed DN3 rom but still I got stuck at Samsung Galaxy Note II screen boot loop. I really don't understand this. What am I missing? What would happen if I wipe the entire internal memory block, I mean the whole things, even the root partition too.. I'm thinking that maybe there's some file inside the root partition that prevents me to flash touchwiz roms or perhaps something wrong about touchwiz based roms' bootloaders.. I'm truely pissed..

Have you read my first message? I remember that I've mentioned I've done already what you ask me to do.. Believe me I wouldn't shoot a new thread if I could've solved my problem with such easy steps. I've already done so many wipes, including internal SD and whatsoever.. I'm really confused and NEED help. Thanks anyway..
I think you can go for the method you mentioned. But also give a try to start fresh i.e pit file flashing...wiping everything n installing stock rom then rooting, flashing custom recovery n then installing any TW custom rom.
Also give other TW based roms a try too.
Im having the same problem but after flashing kernels (e.i. saber & perseus).
Im currently running on Tigra rom. Is this a compatibility issue or im just missing something here too?
I came across flashing bootimg but this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752270
is for One S, im not sure if will work on Note 2 & haven't tried it yet.
Any suggestions? help pls...

Hello,
I have a unique issue. I'm having a problem installing any custom rom on my t999 (tmobile). I have been using a custom rom for over a year. Always used TWRP. Started with Paranoid Android and for the last few months I've been using PAC-Man (nightly) roms. I was having gps lock issues, I decided to upgrade the modem to a leaked UVUEMJC, this fixed the gps lock issue. But after the reboot, I was stuck on bootloader screen. The only way I could get the rom to work was to backup the rom, flash the system and data, and after that, the rom would work until reboot. I did this a few times until it stopped working. My efs was corrupted, IMEI missing, To recover it, I went into download mode, and noticed in red Warranty bit =1. I used odin to flashed a rooted cf 4.3 samsung touchwiz rom (root66_TMO_T999UVUEMJC). All imei/efs issues were fixed. I decided to try installing a custom rom again, PAC-Man rom, it installed just fine, all EFS/IMEI info was intact, but at reboot, I got stuck on the CM bootlogo. This happens everytime. IF I recover a backup, it gets stuck on the boot logo. I'm using TWRP v2.6.3.
Anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this issue?
Thanks!
Install TWRP 2.6.3.1. Then take a Nandroid.
Next wipe /Data. Then flash your Custom Rom. Wipe Dalvik + Cache after the Flash. Reboot and report.
