every time I try to upgrade to more than CM7.2 I lose wifi
at first I thought the unofficial Rom's are very buggy
But here is Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and I'm still stuck on Gingerbread
I installed now CM10.1 VJ Jelly Bean 4.2.2 v5.1 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2070704
I tried everything , all install steps on clean full wipe (even the sd card)
I also downgrade the radio to v 5.09.05.30_2 to match the screenshot, still no wifi
I believe there is a basic step I miss
any advice will be appreciated
what happens when you turn wifi on?
Does it even try to connect?
BTW every ICS/JB ROM ive tried had working wifi.
Once however, the rom froze so i did a battery pull and on the next boot the wifi would not connect.
To fix it all i did was flash another rom.
I've tried several JB/ICS roms and never had any problems with WiFi..

yes, md5 correct and full wipe for everything
I believe the kernel/boot get with the rom
and recovery is not related
is there anything than hboot and radio to change ?
thanks for helping

What wipes are you doing? Maybe cwm isn't wiping properly? Have you tried 4ext recovery with that there's an option to wipe all partitions except sdcard? Have you tried rebooting your router

Yeeeeees, I fix it
damn google restrict on my country, it seems that was the reason, my country
if anyone get in this , you may fix it by :
adb shell <
sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db<
INSERT INTO secure (name, value) VALUES ('wifi_country_code', 'EN');
or this APK:

Guys, I have same problem here; WiFi doesn't work on any Jelly Bean ROM (tried CM10 VJ Touchwiz 5 Jelly Bean 4.1.2 - v4.0, VJ CM10.1 | Jelly Bean 4.2.2 - v5.2 & ...). I found out that this is a problem based on WPA2 security on routers, and for a matter of fact, there is some patch for it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739097
so, the question is, if I flash this patch, will anything wrong happen? (considering this patch is under Galaxy Nexus thread). Is there a way to replace files manually (by Root Explorer or ...)?
Thank you fellas and sorry for my faulty English
P.S: I've tried Wifix, nothing happend.
Well I just flashed the patch, the problem is still on :crying: anyone any help?
The problem for me is that on any jelly bean ROM I would be able to connect to a WiFi outlet on startup but I turn it off and try to connect again some other time, there is no option to see & choose nearby WiFi outlets
Same problem here, wifi don't see even one access point on any ICS or JB rom. Probably we messed something on radio or fastboot guys.
Maby is the WiFi sensor dead .....

ROFL, he doesn't need to install CWM Recovery just to wipe all. He has stock recovery where he can do wipe data and cache or just put a code in the dialer.
Just shut off the phone and turn it on by pressing Home button + Power and you will get into stock recovery, then wipe data and cache.
i tried many ways like pressing the code in the dial pad, rebooting, wiping cache/data, reflashing but nothing happens

Try flashing another firmware
Sent from my GT-S5660 using xda premium
a new firmware would fix it why would u like 2.3.4 when the latest is 2.3.6, try to flash DXKT4 and then make a factory reset hope this helps
I would suggest, you give a shot to the new CyanogenMod 7.2
Follow this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1381355
I tell you, it is much more reliable than you might think. Moreover, because of the custom kernel, you can select some pre-installed CPU governor, so that your GIO become even a bit faster.
Good Luck
Hi,
First, i would like to know, you are upgrading from what firmware to what firmware? is it one package firmware or full package?
I would suggest you to flash it again, but this time, using the full package firmware. After that, don't forget to wipe data/cache, and then factory reset, all via recovery mode.
My exp about upgrading:
- from S5660DXKC3 (froyo, one package) to S5660DXKP6 (gingerbread, one package)
- unstable, lagging, wasteful of battery (bottom line is, disappointed)
Note that xkp6 2.3.6 on xda thread has been modified, on sammobile its a clean rom

Dear Friends,
I bought an "olleh" galaxy gio and updated it to 2.3.6 from Odin.
Now the"Olleh" logo do not show and in its place samsung generic logo show on startup.
Main problem is, since update, my "auto-rotate" option rotates screen in opposite directions and when switching on wifi or BT, it just shows "Error".
No detail of error is shown.
Except that everything is fine. Calling, texting and gaming...
I used the following ROM to update:
S5660XXKTF_S5660DBTKT1_S5660XXKT4_HOME.tar.md5
Please help me with WIFI as I need it very much and could save me alot.

When flashing with ODIN:
Make sure you flash the right firmware! If you flashed any firmware, it also flashes their model's and Country's: modem, csc, kernel, system, etc...
Thus resulting wifi, data, bluetooth, and connectivity errors.
Find the right Stock ROM for your Gio model here. Then use ODIN to flash it.

ive had that rom on without any issues before its weird how now it says wifi error
This started happening a while ago (app crashing) on a different rom, and since then I've tried the following with no success;
New rom
New kernel
Full wipe
New gapps (not required on my current rom)
relocked and unlocked bootloader, upgraded from 0.95 to 1.28
Nothing seems to be working on any rom, and now I have just got out of a battery bootloader bootloop the past couple days my phone seems also unable to handle connections; I supposedly have signal however I receive no texts, data connection isn't working as my gmail account has not been synced (so I have no contacts etc) and wifi crashes when I turn it on.
I'm starting to worry this may be a hardware fault! However considering I have unlocked my bootloader I won't be able to return it under warranty! Can you suggest anything else to try? I haven't fully wiped my whole storage (sd card and all) is that an option to try?
Thanks for any help I can get
bump, really stuck here
If you you are using an AOSP Rom a special kernel is required for the new HBoot. Or has this happened on the old HBoot too? If so a hard reset might solve the problem.

Yeah I am using an AOSP rom but it happened on HBOOT 0.95 and still on 1.28. Is that a factory reset from the bootloader? Also which kernel is it? I just used the boot.img included in the zip
You can do it from the bootloader. Essentially its just wiping everything including the sd storage. I dont have much time to look for it right now because im working. But if you use the search function you should find it have you tried to redownload the rom?

This is the rom I'm using atm http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1784185 (CM is based on AOSP right?)
and is this the kernel you're talking about? http://htcfanboys.com/download/seadersn/?action=view&file=14552 ? However don't I also
need the zip to flash in CWM?
Yes it is an AOSP Rom, but you dont need the the modified kernel because tripnraver solved the problem in his kernels and Rom. Since you have the problem on other ROMs too i would suggest to perform a hard reset and see if the problem still exists. Just backup everything and reflash Rom.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I might try this AOKP rom that I used before, according to the OP there is a specific boot.img you must use for HBOOT 1.28, so I've downloaded that to and when I get home I'll give it a try. It says a full wipe is required, does that just mean cache/dalvik/wipe in CWM or do I need to run the SuperWipe.zip?

Sorry I just saw this reply, I'll try a factory reset before I try the other rom, cheers
I cant factory reset, everytime I do it just goes into CWM?
I just formatted each partition separately in CWM, re installed etc and pretty much everything seems to be back up and running However I am still having the SMS crash issue :S even though my whole SD card is wiped
At least the rest is working still weird though. Does that happen with any sms app?

Hi,
I have updated my international HTC One X to CM10 ver(10-20121221 NIGHTLY). However, i find that the GPS doesn't pickup any satellites at all.
I went back to my stock ROM and found that the GPS was working fine. On reading some threads about similar problems, i tried downloading AGPS data but that too did not work.
I also flashed a AGPS Fix for HTC One X ver3.1 but that too didn't work.
Is somebody else having a similar experience ? Were you able to fix it ? Any help would be great... I hate to go back to a Sense ROM.
If you have one of the higher hboot versions, gps is npt functional at all.
If you however are not, try full wipe an reflash.

I don't think so... I flashed a different nightly, a pre nightly a different ROM called CustoNexus. It has the same result.
Interestingly, while i am on the stock ROM, I have found enabling\disabling the mobile data connection makes a difference. If its disabled, the GPS will not find any satellite. I have tried a test alternatively, enabling, checking GPS, rebooting, disabling and checking 3 times. All the test show this to the case.
Any ideas why ?
Any ideas?
I'm also having this issue. I have used older nightlies from early December and an Gapps and neither work. I've tried a clean install, total wipe of phone and SD and still nothing. I really want to stick with CM10 but the GPS function is a real necessity for me so for now it's back to stock.
Hope there are some more updates on this soon.
Thanks
same issue here. GPS wont even turn on even though it's set to enabled.
Full wipe should do it if your hboot isn't 1.3x.

No need for different boot.img on that hboot.

What could it be than?
I used AGPS Patcher (Google build)
Is that good cause it still aint working
I got it to work with Jellybam by flashing the boot.img inside the zip installing the rom and then go stand outside for a minute while it says "Searching for gps"
everything is working fine now
